Facetime on 2 ios devices

trying to use 2 ios devices linked to the same apple id, set up different emails in each but the recipient device just rings once then says "xxxx is busy"
does it make any difference being on the same wireless network? wouldnt have thought so, where am I going wrong?

You can have the same Apple Id, but you do need to have different email addresses for the "You can be Reached by Facetime At" section under settings.
If that is o.k, then make sure the email address you set for each device is the one being used to initiate the facetime call.
If your facetime call is initiated using the email from the Apple ID its effectively like calling yourself.

  • Can't activate FaceTime on another iOS device with my Apple ID

Do I have to create separate iDs for each device to activate FaceTime under iOS 7?

    Hi,
Do you want to read what you have written to see how unclear it is ?
Which of the two account has the problem ?
AIM have been suspending @mac.com names of people that travel to different countries saying it is Unexplained use even if the people have travelled many times before.
A NON Apple Issued email is not going to be an AIM name unless you registered it with AIM
I presume the two accounts refer to Apple IDs in the first place and not the AIM/iChat login.
IF you changed the Passwords at Apple they have to stay at 16 characters or less to work with the AIM servers.
I have no ideas why you can't login to iCloud at the moment.

  • FaceTime on Mac (Yosemite) does not connect when calling an IOS device

    Hi all,
Since my upgrade with Yosemite, I seem to be having issues with FaceTime (video/audio) calling iOS Devices. iMessage works just fine with Yosemite. But when i attempt to call the other party via FaceTime, i could hear it ring but cannot connect. Anybody else who has the same issue and does anybody know how to fix it? It would seem to be a Yosemite issue, because when i tried using my iPad and iPhone to call via FaceTime, it works just fine using the same Apple Id i used for the Macbook Pro (Mid 2010). But when I use my Mac to call the iPhone.. It rings but it does not connect.. I hope they fix this with the next update..

For the ones who are interested: the problem has been "solved".
Solution: none. I found out that the iPhone 4 from my girlfriend caused the problem. The iPhone made it impossible to FaceTime to each other from iPhone <> MacBook Pro. I think it's because the discontinued iOS support for the iPhone 4.
Since she has the iPhone 6 FaceTime now works wonderful without any problem.

  • We have 4 different iOS devices in the same household. 2 iPhones, iPad Air

Hello. We currently have 2 iphones, an iMac & an iPad Air in our household. We have 1 iTunes account & have always had one email address. We would like each iOS device to basically have its own identity. Mainly when using something such as Facetime. I would like each phone to only be contacted on Facetime by someone calling that particular phone's number. And then when someone calls the iMac on Facetime, as of right now, it's being reached by someone calling our email address. And we just got the iPad Air & I would like that to be reached separately. So when having 1 iTunes account & 1 email, as of now, how can I set this up? Because right now when someone tries calling us on Facetime using our email address, it contacts all the devices.  Also, I would like iMessages coming into one of the iPhones & the iPad to be linked, and the other iPhone & the iMac to be linked for iMessages. Could someone please help? Thanks!

You will all need to be on the same itunes account ID.
You can however all have seperate icloud accounts aswel.

  • Multiple iOS devices on same apple id

I have a an iPad and two iPhones on the same apple ID. Unfortunately iMessage and face time show I am taking with myself. Is there a way to separate the communication to sub accounts or by device?  I would like to keep control of the apple ids as a child is involved.
Perhaps there is a recommended way of setting up multiple devices for a family, maybe a KB article?
    Thank you.

  • HT5538 How do you separate multiple iOS devices using the same apple id account for Face Time calls and iMessaging?

How do you separate multiiple ios devices using the same apple id account for Face Time calls and iMessaging?

The only way I have seen is to have each device use a if fervent email account, if they all are on the same email the FaceTime connection is either to a phone number or to an email address.  If they ar all on the same email, it is up to the user to decide which to use.

  • Auto tab focus method is not working in iOS devices please share the ideas why its not working?

Auto tab focus method is not working in iOS devices. Please share the idear i am facing this issue while developing code for devices.

    Hi there,
    I can confirm this bug.
Not sure if this info is relevant, but this is my experience:
I am on the FIDO network, and so are two other people I know.
We all tried blocking numbers, and calls ring right through. Text messages are blocked successfully. (never tried facetime)
I also tried a ROGERS device running IOS7, and was successfully able to block my phone call from ringing through. HOWEVER, my call was forwarded to their voicemail, I was able to leave a voicemail for the person, and they did get an alert that they had a new voicemail.
I have not yet had a chance to test this on Bell, Telus, or any other carriers.
Spoke to Apple, and they advised me to do a hard reset (hold both buttons to shut off and reboot the phone), and if that fails to do an iOS restore.
I have yet to try this, but hopefully someone will have a better solution.

  • Why can't I open my spreadsheet from Numbers when I can open it from my iOS Devices?

When I try to open a numbers spreadsheet that is synced with my iCloud account; it gives me this prompt. I can still open it on my iPhone, my iPad, and the iOS website. When I try to do the new handoff application, it thinks about opening up Numbers but never does. If you have any ideas; that would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi m3jankowski,
Happy Holidays!  Is the issue happening with this specific Number spreadsheet, or any spreadsheet?  The resource below provides some steps to try if the Handoff feature is not working for your Numbers document on your Mac.
Get help using Continuity with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/TS5458
Check the following settings on your Mac:
Go to the Wi-Fi icon at the top of your screen and turn on Wi-Fi if necessary.
Make sure your Mac and iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi on your iOS device and compare the name of the network with the Wi-Fi network on your Mac.
Go to the Bluetooth icon at the top of your screen and turn on Bluetooth if necessary.
In System Preferences > General, select “Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.” If you don't see this setting, your Mac may not support Handoff.
Open the FaceTime app, go to FaceTime > Preferences and turn on “iPhone Cellular Calls.”
Go to System Preferences, and sign out and then sign in again to your iCloud account.
I hope this information helps ....

  • Why is Facetime calling all my devices?

I have an iPhone 5, iPad mini, and an iMac. All which I use the same apple ID. I know for a fact each device has a seperate e-mail or number to receive a facetime call. Although, when someone still calls me I still have all my devices ringing, nor is there an option for me to select a specific number or e-mail if I want to Facetime someone.
Is this bug or by design for iOS 7?

    Hey there ffnwilliams!
You should check on your "Send & Receive at" settings for your FaceTime and iMessage sections in your iOS devices. More information on these settings can be found here:
    Additional Information
You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from:. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, a friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if you've selected new conversations to start from your phone number.

  • Gamecenter sync with multiple ios-devices

My grandparents have 3 ios-devices: 2 ipads and an iphone. They all use the same apple-id. Grandmother plays a game on her ipad and iphone that syncs with gamecenter. Grandfather has the game on his ipad but its 'empty' since he doesnt play.  The iphone keeps on asking to be synced with gamecenter.
    My questions:
    1. If we sync the iphone, with what game will it sync? The empty one on granddads ipad or the correct one on grandmas ipad?
    2. Is it a solution to delete the game from grandpas ipad (and remove it from gamecenter)?
    3. Since the iphone hasnt been synced for awhile, there is currently an old version of the game on the iphone. If i delete granddads game from his ipad/gamecenter, how do i know that the iphone will get the version of the ipad and not the other way around?

What is synched in Game Center depends on what the app developers have included. Some are just achievements, some sync game progress, some both among other things.
If they both primarily use one device, why don't you just create a separate Apple ID for Grandpa? They can still share apps rather than buying new one for him by doing this...
Assuming both Grandma and Grandpa have their own Apple IDs and Grandma's was used to purchase apps. Continue to use ONLY the one Apple ID to purchase apps so they can be shared.
Log into both devices in Settings > iTunes and App Stores using Grandma's Apple ID. This will allow all purchased apps to run on both devices.
For Facetime, iCloud, Game Center and Messages, let each of them log in using their own Apple ID. Those are located in...
    Settings > Game Center
    Settings > Facetime
    Settings > Messages
    Settings > iCloud

  • Facetime Failing on ALL Devices on ANY Wifi Connection

All of my facetime calls are failing on all my devices (iphone 5c, iphone 4s, ipad 3, Apple Macbook Pro).  I have tried them on my home wifi which is very strong, several friends wifi, and starbucks at&t wifi without success.  I have even tried on 4G LTE and same issue persists.  I read through the forums and saw the canned responses from Apple about checking settings and internet connections and everything is configured properly...plus this is happening on all my devices and several internet connections.  I saw a post that said to turn off facetime on my macbook, restart the computer, and then turn facebook back on and that didn't work.  I have used facetime on all my devices for years without issue. Please Help!

Good job troubleshooting so far.  One other thing to check is to make sure that all devices are running the latest version of iOS that is avaiable.

  • Four iOS Devices and one Mac

I want to set up icloud, but I am a little confused. My wife and I each have an iPhone and Ipad, but only one Mac, what would be the best way to set this up, I would like to share our calendar and adress book. I do have all the devices working using iMessage, Facetime using differant ID's and I am using the same ID for iTunes. Anything would be helpful. I have read the articles on Macworld and macsotries.net, but still come away confused.

  • Please help - multiple IOS devices, Apple ID's and synching

I have an iPhone and an iPad Mini that belong to me.  Two of my kids have iPod Touch and soon a third will have one.  So there are multiple iOS devices in the family, two of which are used only by me.  Up to this point I've been managing them on one laptop running one iTunes library.  I've made various playlists for the kids music, and I gave them each the specific games they wanted, and I put the games I wanted on my devices....certain games for the iPhone and larger, more involved games for the iPad Mini.  I don't put music on the iPad because I only use music on my iPhone.  So all 4 devices have a different selection of games, apps, and music on them.  I've purchased everything with one apple ID....mine, and set each device up with it. Only I know the password so if one of the kids wants something, they still have to bring their device to me so I can put the password in for that purchase.
What I'd like to do is separate my kids apple ID's from mine.  This way, they can use their apple ID's to sign up for other services, have their own saved game data in the cloud, etc.  I'm running into situations where my son and I play the same game, but we keep overwriting each other's game progress because it's stored to my apple ID.  But I still want to be able to control their purchasing, so I figured I'd have to attach my credit card to their new ID's as well, but just not give them the password, so they still will have to come to me to punch in the password to download something.  But hopefully with this new setup, they'll have their own saved game progress that won't interfere with mine, even if we play some of the same games.
But how will this work if we synch them off my laptop?  I don't want to get into creating separate libraries or anything like that, and I'd still like to be able to download some apps using iTunes and put them on the devices manually if I need to.
What is your recommendation on how to handle this???  How will it work exactly?

You can do anything you want with one iTunes, but:
    Devices names must be different.
Don't sync anything under "Info" tab like Contacts Calendars etc. These info must be synced over iCloud. (Use a different Apple ID for each device)
Use the Same Apple ID for iTunes and App Stores settings in all iOS devices.

  • How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes?

How can I use 2 Apple IDs in Itunes? I have 2 IOS Devices. They each have there own AppleID. What is the proper way to sync both of them to Itunes? I wanted my teenager's AppleID to be different from mine so that she couldn't charge stuff to my AppleID, therefore I created me another one. Now when I go to Sync either device, it tells me that this IOS device can only be synced with one AppleID. Then I get a message to erase it, not going to do that, lol. If I logout as one ID and login as the other, will it still retain all synced information on the PC from the first IOS device? If I can just log in out of the AppleID, then I have no problem doing that as long as the synced apps, music, etc stays there for both. I am not trying to copy from one to the other, just want to make sure I have a backup for the UhOh times. If logging in and out on the same PC of multiple AppleIDs is acceptible then I need to be able to authorize the PC for both devices. Thanks for the help. I am new to the iOS world.

    "Method Three
Create a separate iTunes library for each device. Note:It is important that you make a new iTunes Library file. Do not justmake a copy of your existing iTunes Library file. If iTunes is open, quit it.
This one may work. I searched and searched on the website for something like this, I guess I just didn't search correctly, lol. I will give this a try later. My daughter is not be back for a few weekends, therefore I will have to try the Method 3 when she comes back for the weekend again. "
I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks
