FaceTime on multiple devices w/ 1 Apple ID

I have 1 Apple ID, 5 Apple Devices, 2 new Itouches for the kids, but im getting an error saying their email addresses are already in use, which I know is NOT true.  is this a sync issue with Apple ID?

@dutra - Your suggestion worked like a charm. I have two options setup under my daughter's name in Facetime: Touch and iPAd. All I need to do is choose which I want to call. Easy-peasy.
@jeffreyfromorillia - This advice may be too late... But, register each device using your ID, as you should. Once this is complete do the following:
1 - Go to SETTINGS on device A
2 - Choose FACETIME
      - here you'll see your ID in the account field -- ignore it/leave it there.
     - below you'll see the email field, enter your daughter's email addy (you don't have to worry about the "+XXX"      unless she has more than once device because it applies only to the multiple device scenario)
     - IF you have used your email addy in the email field, click on Add Another Email and enter daughter's addy      here, then go back and choose your email addy and click remove
You are good to go. Repeat same steps for your stepdaughter's device.
If either girl has multiple devices you want to Facetime, follow steps 1 and 2, and in the email field click on Add Another Email and enter - [email protected] - then go back and delete orignal email entered. Do same for second device - [email protected], remembering to delete orginal email here, too.
On your device go to Facetime and edit contact - it prolly shows HOME / WORK / OTHER, click on it and choose CUSTOM, name it iPod, then enter the NEW email "[email protected]" and do same for second device, customizing the field to read iPad, or whatever you choose... Now you should have two options to choose from for contacting Girl 1. Repeat for Girl 2.
Hope this works for you, it worked out splendidly for me.
Cheers.

  • Facetime on multiple devices with same Apple ID?

Hi...we have an iPad 1, iPhone 4S, iPod touch from 2010 and new iPod Touch yesterday.
I have not set up the new iPod Touch yet...but all the other devices are using the same Apple ID so I can buy apps and allow all my devices to get the apps installed for free.  Great.
How can I set up my new iPod Touch to use the same Apple ID and also do Facetime?  If I use the same Apple ID I would think that my other devices would start to ring when I try to Facetime.  No?
If you know how to do this, can you please reply and give exact steps?
    Thanks so much in advance.
    -Eric

  • FaceTime with Multiple Devices and one Apple ID

What happens with FaceTime when I use the same Apple ID for my IPad and my IPhone 5?  What do I need to do to manage which device receives FaceTime messages?

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
That's simply not possible I'm afraid. You'd need to give them their own account and allowance or make it so you are required to be there to input the password when they wish to make a purchase.

  • Trouble using facetime on another device with same apple id

    Hi
I am having trouble using facetime with my wife.  I have an iPad 2 and she has an IPhone 4S.  When we try to facetime, we are able to connect for a few seconds and then it drops off.  We are then unable to reconnect.  We both have the same apple Id and e-mail address although I am trying to contact her via her mobile number.  Any suggestions would be grateful received.

  • Multiple devices on same apple account

My children were given new ipod touches for Christmas. Now I have four devices on my Apple ID and the kids have access to my aps and contacts.
How do I take their devices off my account and set them up their own?
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

First of all , you need to create them an apple ID - you can do this on iTunes or online at https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US ! Then you can manually sign out of iTunes , Email , FaceTime etc , or you can reset the device (which will ovcourse delete all the content on the iPod) and then log in with their apple ID ! - Remember when creating an apple ID you have to use an email , but it can't be yours so you'll have to use a diffrent email ! Hope this helps !

  • FaceTime with Multiple devices question...

If I have FaceTime on my Mac Book Pro, iPhone and iPad and someone makes a FaceTime call to me, can I take the call on any of those devices? If they are all in front of me can I choose what device I want to take the call on?

    Ge0ph wrote:

    iPhones: No
Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads: Yes
In order to be able to answer a call on multiple devices, each device must have identical FaceTime "Caller iD" addresses. iPhones identifiers are unique, not identical, so each FaceTime call to an iPhone is unique to that one device.
Because iPhone uses its unique phone number as its address while your other devices use working email addresses (Macs and iPods cannot have a "phone number"), iPhones cannot be addressed along with any other devices. Nobody but the one iPhone will receive a FaceTime invitation made to its unique number.
You can use identical information on as many Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads as you like. A FaceTime invitation to that "Caller iD" can be answered on any of them that are powered up and configured to have FaceTime on and working.
If you want to be able to call from one of your Macs, iPods touch (4Gen), and iPads to another, the two devices must have different "Caller iD". Otherwise, it would be like trying to call one extension telephone from another on the same line. It does not work.
If they are all in front of me can I choose what device I want to take the call on?
    Yes.

  • Multiple devices on one apple ID

I have 3 devices on my apple ID. 2 of the devices are mine and the ipad is my sisters. I want to get the ipad onto a different new apple ID . 1) how do I do that? 2) If I do, will It delete all my stuff of the ipad?

You can setup as new and use a new Apple ID but all purchased apps are tied to the old Apple ID and is not transferable to the new ID.
Setting up as new will delete all the stuff on your iPad.

  • Troubles with FaceTime on multiple devices

I recently purchased the latest iPhone 5s.  They set up my account with a new itunes account created for my husband.  Before this change we were sharing an itunes account I had created and we couldn't ever get our FaceTime to work.  Do we need to have separate itunes accounts to get FaceTime to work?  If so, how do I change my itunes id on my new 5s back to my itunes account id without deleting his account?  Thanks!

    Hello Stromfam01
To make a call over FaceTime, you would need two separate Apple ID.  So the best way to handle that is to have the one Apple ID you and your husband share for just purchases. Then create your own Apple ID for just iCloud information so you and your husband can communicate with FaceTime and other services that Apple provides. Check out the article below for more information about how to manage the Apple ID’s.

  • How to manage FaceTime on multiple devices on the same apple ID

So I have an ipad 2 and an iphone 4s. Both are under the same apple ID. When my friends try to FaceTIme me, I only get the call on my ipad. Is there a way to to get the call to go to my phone? Or at least an option to chose which device the call goes to?

  • Multiple devices and 1 Apple ID

My wife and I each have iphone5 running ios7 and each have iPads running iOS 7.   We have one Apple ID because we want to share music and photos.   Using iMessage in this scenario is a problem.   We have conversations that are private going to all devices.  How can we correct this so that we can still share music and photos but can have private iMessage conversations?

Use the shared ID for the ITunes and App Store. Use the personal ID for iCloud, Facetime and iMessage. As Bob Harris noted above, this will allow you to continue to share music. I think the confusion is that you seem to be under the impression that the music is stored in your iCloud storage. It's not. If you go to Settings>iCloud, you'lll see exactly what is in iCloud.
    Best of luck.

  • HT4914 Can you use iTunes Match on multiple devices with different apple id's ?

I have multiple phones with the same iTunes ID but they have different apple ID , will the iTunes Match work with all my devices ?

I've got the latest version of iTunes & it's supposed to be able to be enabled under top panel "store" then appear down left side panel to subscribe. Which makes me think that it musn't be able to be used if you're running XP as it's not there....

  • How to use FaceTime with 2 devices on same apple id

My husband and I share an apple ID account, and each of us has an IPad and we want to be able to FaceTime each other, but both devices see us as the same person.  Is there a way to separate our devices within the same account?

You each need your own Apple ID. It's the same as trying to call a phone with the same number. You can't.
I suppose you use the same Apple ID to share apps. You can still do that. Just create a new Apple ID for the second user and log into your device using that ID for FaceTime and Messages only. In Settings > iTunes and App Store, use the shared Apple ID.
