I Am so shocked that Nigeria is not listed when I wanted to register to activate my FaceTime . So shocking why?

Hello,
I am experiencing the same symptoms, iMac late 2013, i5, 24GB DDR3, ~3000 contacts.
Please reply if you indentified the cause/ remedy - I confirm that it became an issue only updating to 10.10.3

  • Unified phone number/apple ID for Facetime???

    Greetings,
I thought I remember from the keynote that when someone calls you on Facetime, it was supposed to ring all your devices (mac, iphone, and soon ipad...). On my macbook I registered my apple ID and of course on the iphone it auto-registers with your phone number. A friend and I were testing all this out and when he called me on Facetime the following happened:
    1. When he selected my phone number, the Facetime call rang on my iphone.
    2. When he selected my apple ID, the Facetime call rang on my macbook.
The overall point of this email is to ask if anyone knows if it is possible to link your apple ID and phone number so that when someone calls you on facetime to either one it rings all your devices? Thanks for any insight.
    Regards,
    Dominik

    At the moment:
You are able to log into all Apple devices with an Apple ID for use with both Facetime and iMessage. For instance I can log into an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and a Mac all with one Apple ID. If someone Facetime calls the Apple ID, all devices will ring simaltaniously. If however you call my phone number with Facetime, only my iPhone will ring with a Facetime call. The same goes for iMessage. I can send and receive a message on all my devices through my Apple ID, which will sync that message accross all devices. However if I send or receive an iMessage usuing my phone number, it will only appear on my iPhone.
    With iOS 6:
You will have the option to unify your Apple ID and your phone number. This means that all the functionality of the above still exists, however you will now be able to send and recieve iMessages and Facetime calls on all devices using your phone number or your Apple ID as they will both be unified.

    Hi jrthomus,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with Facetime on your iPad:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
Your iPhone telephone number is linked to your Apple ID when you sign in to FaceTime or iMessage. This allows you to use your iPhone number with FaceTime and iMessage on other iOS devices.
This feature isn't available on iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPad (1st generation).
This feature is available with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later.
You can sign in to your Apple ID on an iPhone by tapping Settings > FaceTimeand Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. On iOS devices, find out which addresses are enabled with FaceTime and iMessage by tapping:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with FaceTime and iMessage during activation.
To use FaceTime with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > FaceTime and tap "Use your Apple ID for FaceTime."
To use iMessage with your Apple ID, navigate to Settings > Messages > Receive At and tap "Use your Apple ID for iMessage."
When you enable FaceTime or iMessage with an iPad or iPod touch, you will need to enter a valid Apple ID and password. Other users will be able to contact you on FaceTime and iMessage using this email address.

  • FaceTime failed - why?

I am running FaceTime on MacBook which is running Lion 10.7.3.
I can't get FaceTime to connect. I have tried various changes to Firewall settings, logging out and in of FaceTime, checking clock settings and still no joy.
My Wi-fi connection is running fine
I have a 9MB download speed and 0.82MB upload speed
My brother is on a new iPad and can FaceTime other people but when ever we try to FaceTime each other it rings on the device and tries to connect, but then says "FaceTime failed"
    PLease please please help

    This solved my problem...
I took some advice to add a new (unregistered with apple) email address to my facetime account.
I did this and was asked to login with my registered email and password.
    I then got the dreaded
"The server encountered an error procssing registeration, please try again later " issue that so many others were getting.
I then folowed this thread which solved the problem.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15658737#15658737
basically I had to comment out some extra server rows I had in my host file. Then a restart was required.

  • IMessage Facetime Waiting for Activation...

I am currently out of the country trying to use my iphone 4S, and I am not able to use iMessage or FaceTime with WiFi.  After I turn them on in the settings tab, it just says "waiting for activation..."  How do I fix this? I currently have a non-ATT sim card installed and I am able to make calls and regular text messages.  I have tried to restore my phone and it still did not fix this.  Any ideas on how to fix my imessage?

Have you tried all of the following:
If you still can't send or receive iMessages
To send and receive iMessages, your device must have a valid cellular or Wi-Fi data connection.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    iOS: Troubleshooting cellular data
Ensure that iMessage is turned on in Settings > Messages.
iMessage registration validates your Apple ID for use with iMessage. If you are unable to activate iMessage, try the following:
Sign in to iMessage on your device using a valid Apple ID. After you validate the email address for use with iMessage, other iMessage users can connect to you using that email address. If you encounter issues registering or using an Apple ID account:
Ensure you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at myinfo.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this webpage.
Ensure that your date, time, and time zone are set correctly. If your country has recently made a daylight saving time (DST) change, it may be necessary to manually set the time zone to one that matches your local time.
Check that your email address is verified in Settings > Messages > Receive At.
If Settings > Messages > Receive At shows your email status as "verifying," follow the instructions in the verification email that was sent to complete the process.
Toggle iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages.
iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with iMessage during activation. If you encounter issues activating or using iMessage with your phone number:
Verify that you are connected to a cellular network.
Toggle iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages.
If you are unable to activate iMessage on a device after remote wiping it, wait at least 24 hours and try again.

  • Using Facetime internationally without international roaming fee?

I'd like to use Facetime internationally between two U.S. (AT&T) registered iPhones, but don't want to pay international roaming fees to make the initial contact call. Possible? Is there some way to establish a Facetime connection using Wi-Fi only?

    Hi...
It's all done via IP (TCP and UDP) layer.
I think it's done this way when you try to make a FaceTime call to one of your contacts:
    1) Tap the FaceTime button in contact and select the phone number of the other end
    2) It registers itself to Apple services with your phone number and IP associated (WiFi one)
    3) Query Apple service for IP address associated with phone number selected in step 1)
    4) If found, tries to make the FaceTime call between these two endpoints
Very roughly explained.. I didn't trace the whole process into much detail.
So answer for you is, you should not pay a cent(penny or whatewer) for FaceTime call.
    Hope I'm not wrong

  • Facetime not working, waiting on activation.

Can someone help? Cannot get facetime to work, stuck on waiting for activation.

Where are you? Some countries block face time at the request of their governments. Some networks (such as T-Mobile in the US, do not work with Facetime due to the way it registers and activates on the iPhone)

  • Upgrade to App Store's FaceTime?

When FaceTime for Mac was first released, I downloaded the free beta from the Apple Website. When they put it on the Mac App Store for $0.99, I figured I wouldn't get it since the beta seems to still work fine. Which it does, until this last time I tried to make a FaceTime call. I thought it could just be my webcam, which is not Apple-branded, but the signal comes to my Mac just fine and plays live on the screen. It just doesn't transmit anything but a still image to the other device, and the people I call complain that there is little to no audio. (Even though I can hear myself just fine when calling my iPhone, and my Mac registers the voice commands from it just fine)
Simply, I thought this would be just a problem with the beta. But I'm seeing complaints for the App Store version too. Although many people who write the reviews don't even know how to spell FaceTime, or even "horrible" when describing the App, I still worry that paying the 99 cents for it would get me to the same problem I am having with my current version. Plus, I wonder if Mountain Lion might have it built-in anyway.
Any ideas, or suggestions? I realize the App is just a dollar, but I would like to save that if it won't get me anywhere anyway.

No differences in the code. What is hanging and running slow? Is it still the trial version or did you buy and download from the App Store?
Also if you include more info about your setup, system, memory, size of Aperture library, etc. it will help diagnose the problem.

  • IMessage & FaceTime waiting for activation (no phone number, only email is showing)

I had a new SIM card from work so tried it out in my iPhone, and then returend back my orginal persoanl SIM card. Since then, iMessage and Facetime is stuck waiting for activation, and trying to verify my wrong number (the SIM I removed). email (Apple ID) is working on both, but strangly it was stuch for days trying to verfiy the wrong SIM (phone number) I had already removed, not the SIM inserted in my iPhone. I tried everything:
    - Eject and insert SIM card.
    - Turn iMassage OFF and ON again
    - Turn Facetime OFF and ON again (then kept it OFF till i reslove iMessage)
    - Updated my Apple ID account and in APP STORE to have my correct phone number.
    - REST all settings
    - REST all Content & Settings
    - REST Netwrok Settings
Now, after a Factory REST through iTunes, my wrong number had been finally removed. However, my correct number is not showing up at all in iMessage or Facetime, stuck waiting for activation (only email works in both)
Any one out there with a fix? please?

Have you tried all of the following:

When using Facetime on my ipad mini,  sometimes the screen will turn black then an apple logo will appear, looks like it reset. I already tried resetting my ipad but still the same.

Are you trying to use the phone in Bahrain with a supported carrier there? I suspect not. If you try to use this phone outside of Bahrain, you won't have FaceTime. This is done to prevent folks from simply crossing the border to purchase iPhones in Bahrain...FaceTime is banned in Saudi Arabia & the UAE. Sorry, but you'll only have FaceTime on that phone while using it in Bahrain on a supported carrier's network there.
