Facetime stuck at "connecting" or immediately drops after (iPhone 4)
Hello all,
I have just updated to iOS 7 in hopes of fixing my facetime problem, however, no luck found. My facetime was working about a week ago, I was on the phone with someone, then the call just dropped. Tried to call again but the facetime interface would just show the "connecting..." part then never get through again.
I thought it was my school's wifi, but I tried my wifi at home and it still did not work. I also tried resetting network settings and restoring an older iphone backup before updating to iOS 7, and it still does not work.
I have tried with multiple iPhone users, mac users, and even a person sitting next to me in the same room using the same wifi network.
Any help or opinions would be much appreciated in solving this issue!
DC
I have finally manged to sort this frustrating iphone 4 issue regarding NOT being able to Facetime.
First VERY VERY Important ... backup the complete phone on icloud or itunes. (I did not do this and lost my NOTES. Luckily my phone contact were on my Sim Card)
Step 1 . Go to settings and Reset complete phone to factory default (Settings - General - Reset All Settings (Enter code if requested) - Erase all Content and settings.
Step 2 . Once reset you will have a factor default iphone (In my case it had ios7 on boot up)
Step 3 . Setup as new phone in itunes i.e choose english then find my phone - icloud etc etc etc
Step 4 . Test out facetime (DO NOT restore Apps or Music at this stage)
Step 5 . Once facetime worked I restored my Music ,videos etc from itunes.
Really happy that finally it all works..
Trust this helps all the frustrated people out there who can not facetime on iphone 4

Idle Oracle DB connection through ACE dropped after 1 hour
Hi folks,
I'm looking for some ideas how to troubleshoot a problem we're having with an Oracle App.
What we are finding is that when a request takes more than an hour for the Oracle DB to process the connection is being dropped.
When wireshark is used at DB server interface we see nothing for an hour and then a single packet RST,ACK with the source identified as the App Server.
We have an App server farm that is behind an ACE module that is in bridging mode. The DB server is on another VLAN so the path the traffic takes is from the App Svr through the ACE from the back to the frontside vlan, through the 6506's MSFC to be routed to the DB server.
Path like this:
Appserver|-->VL203-->|ACE|-->VL202-->|L3 Switch|-->VL200-->|DB Server
If we move the App server to Vlan 202 in front of the ACE the process carries on to completion (after 75 mins).
Is there anything in the ACE settings that could cause the connection to be dropped after an hour for traffic that should simply be being bridged through?
Any suggestions as to where to look next would be appreciated.
TIA
ZacOK Gilles, I'll look at that in the morning. However, this is where it gets interesting.
We have DB servers on two other VLANs routed by the same switch. The connections to those DB servers don't get cut off after an hour (In the connection path I outlined swap VLAN 200 for VLAN 50 or VLAN 205) One of them is even behind the ACE in a different server farm.

IPad stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen after iOS 8.0.2 Update
Attempted to update to iOS 8.0.2 last night on my 4th Gen iPad. After verifying the download, the iPad instructed me to "Connect to iTunes". Once connected, iTunes stated that my iPad was in need of a restore, which I attempted to do so. Upon "extracting software" iTunes states that it cannot recognize my device and fails the restore. My iPad is still stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen.
So far I've:
Attempted restore on iTunes 3 times
Attempted hard restart (reboot) by holding home button and top button down for ten seconds.
Don't know what else to do, Please Help!!!!FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary. -
Facetime stuck at "Connecting..."
Hi guys
I am having an issue doing Facetime between my parents' iPad 2 with my iPhone 4. Both sides stuck at "Connecting..." until we hit the disconnect button.
The same iPad 2 can do Facetime from my brother's home WiFi to my iPhone 4 without issue. What is special with my parents' home network is that it has a Webserver running and therefore their WiFi router has set up to forward port 80, 443 and another application port 3389 to the Webserver machine in the private network.
Checking online, I found this Apple tech notes about port forwarding. So I stopped forwarding ports 80 and 443 for the Webserver but the issue still remains.

Do you guys have other suggestions to debug this problem?
Thanks a whole bunch.I have finally manged to sort this frustrating iphone 4 issue regarding NOT being able to Facetime.

Phone stuck on connect to itunes screen after update attempt
Hi, hope someone can help me. I connected my iPhone to my computer to transfer my photos from the phone to the PC. I have automatic syncing turned off.
When I connected, I was prompted to update the iTunes version, which I did. It's now version 9. Then I attempted to update the iPhone version. I got a message saying I had to transfer my purchases first, which I did. Then I tried the update again. The update seemed to take awhile, then I got a message saying it failed. There was a "More Information" button which just prompted me to send info to Apple, which I did. Unfortunately I didn't save the info.
At that point all my iPhone info no longer showed in iTunes, and the only active option is Restore. It does say "Your iPhone software is up to date," which would seem to indicate that the update did work...I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my phone. When I do this, I get the message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
I would rather not Restore the phone unless I have no other options, since I have 600 pics, contacts, etc on the phone...Of course not backed up since this is the first time I've tried to transfer data.
So I tried a few things:
- I disconnected and reconnected the phone several times.
- I restarted the computer several times.
- I went to the Apple site and tried the troubleshooting steps for "stuck on connect to itunes screen" (which is what my phone is currently doing).
- I ran the diagnostic checks in iTunes (output below - I ran this while the phone was plugged in yet it says it's not found).
- I held down the Home and the Sleep/Wake button until I see the Apple icon.
- I went to My Computer > Manage and tried to update drivers, but the phone doesn't show in the device manager.
- I tried a different USB port and there are no other devices connected to the machine.
Nothing worked, my phone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen and I get the error message every time I plug it in. I haven't tried another computer bc I don't have one and I'm not sure how to create/use another user account on this machine.
I wouldn't mind calling support but my phone doesn't work...Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Message was edited by: gobblygookYour only choice at this point is to restore your iphone. Since it appears from your post that you have never synced to this computer, you of course will not have a backup to restore from. That means your only choice is to restore as a new device & re-sync your itunes content. Unfortunately, all of your contacts, calendars, pics in your camera roll, etc., will be lost. Its not a good idea to use the iphone or any phone for that matter as a storage device, as things like this can & do happen. You should be syncing on a regular basis. The first thing done when you do sync is an iphone backup. You should also transfer pics in your camera roll to a supported application on your computer on a regular basis, much like any digital camera. You can always sync pics back to your phone, but if the only copies are on the phone, you run the risk of losing them.
See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. -
Stuck on "connect to itunes" screen after trying to update
Update was interupted because of "unknown error"
Now my Ipad is stuck on "Connect to Ituns"
Have tried to reset by holding both buttons for a long time but still only returns to Connect to Itunes sceen.
Itunes does not recognize the ipad.
Anyone any ideas exept for turning it in for serviceMakes sure you disable any antivirus or software firewall on your desktop. They can get in the way of the update, causing this problem.
Have you actually got the update downloaded yet? If not, it might be helpful to download and install separately -

Please let me know if you are aware of this fixHi vadlapavanigeetha,

My ipad2 is stuck on connect to iTunes screen and won't reset. I had just downloaded the os update. How do I get it back?
The iTunes icon and cable mean that it's gone into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
You will need to connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to use it to reset the iPad, and you can then restore/resync your content to it. -
IPod stuck in "connect to iTunes" screen after updating software
I wanted to update my iPod touch to iOS5 after waiting for a long time. I synced and transferred purchases twice to make sure all my stuff was in my iTunes library, and then updated it. The update went fine but there was an error message saying that it could not restore the iPod. I went to troubleshooting and it said to update to the latest version of iTunes, which I did, involving a restart. When I started up iTunes again, it said it was the most recent version 10.7 and all of my songs, apps, etc. are in the library. The problem is I can't get my iPod to connect to iTunes now. It went into the connect to iTunes screen before I updated the software and it has stayed like that. I tried plugging and unplugging it, switching the USB ports and cables, putting it into recovery mode, but it will not show up on iTunes or on my computer. I also noticed that when I hold down the sleep/wake button for a few seconds, it shuts down immediately instead of having the "slide to power off" screen come up, and then the apple comes back onto the screen and it goes to the "connect to iTunes" screen again. I have tried all of the troubleshooting guides on the website, but it doesn't change the screen. I tried putting it into DFU mode and something came up on the computer saying "installing driver software" and it said DFU mode or something, which usually happens when I plug in my iPod, but after my iPod wouldn't turn on at first, and when it did, the same screen came up again. When I unplug it from the USB cable, it stays on the screen for about a minute before it turns off and the screen goes black. This is the screen it's stuck on
I'm not sure what else to do, all suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much. You try on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iTunes problem. If it works on the other computer that indicates a computer problem and more work is required to fix that problem.
If iTunes on the other computer yuo can do the following to make that computer the syncing computer until you can fix the other computer. For how see:

Hi, I'm having problems with my iPod Touch. My iPod went off because the battery was empty. And when I tried connecting it to my laptop to recharge, the "connect to iTunes" screen suddenly appeared. According to iTunes I need to RESTORE it for it to work. And that's exactly what I did. However, after the restore and all, the screen is still stuck on the "connect to iTunes" screen.
By the way, it's a 2nd generation iPod Touch. And it's an MC model.
And to make things worse, my iTunes screen is totally empty. The RESTORE option is gone and I really don't know what to do anymore.
Hope you guys can help me out! I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!I really don't know what happened but my iPod Touch is working now!!! Thank you so much! I'm not really sure if it went to DFU mode or not but all of a sudden I can access iTunes App Store already!!! WOOOOAAAAHHHH! And it asked me to type in a new name for my iPod! So everything's good! Thank you so much! Thank you! You have no idea how happy I am right now!
For my iTunes:
Thank you!
P.S: Grrrrrrrr! My bad! I'm new here and I kind of messed up the Correct Answer and Helpful Answer buttons. Sorry. Dunno how to change them. -
IPad 3 stuck in "Connect to iTunes" screen after attempting to update to iOS6.0
Tried to update to iOS 6.0, and the iPad 3 is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen. After plugging it back in and connecting it, iTunes recognizes it, and sees it in Recovery mode. Nothing has worked so far. I've tried:
1. connecting to another MacMini and trying to restore (same (-1) error)
2. Deleted the iPad software update from the library and tried to download and restore again. (same (-1) error)
3. one hour on the phone with applecare tech support. multiple things tried: holding the sleep/wake and home buttons ect... (same (-1) error)
Has anyone else seen this? I noticed someone else asked the same question, and someone offered a blank link.
I'll try anything.
Thanks guysYes, thank you though.
I've done that roughly 30 times over the last 8 hours. That was one of the methods I tried with AppleCare Tech support.
The biggest issue I'm seeing is that the device can't BE turned off. Holding the slep wake button does nothing. The "Connect to iTunes" screen (usb to iTunes logo) seems to be stuck on the screen, unless it's going through the restore process.
When I go through the restore steps via iTunes, it gets all the way to the "Installing Firmware" portion, (roughly about 75% done according to the ipad screen, and thats when the error message pops up again.
I even just tried doing the whole thing from a PC and got the same message.
...I touched a PC...
...Must sterilize hands...
thanks for the reply though.
Hopefully, I can figure something out, or I might have to make a two hour drive to an apple store to get a replacement. -
IPhone stuck in connect to iTunes mode after restore
I attempted to jailbreak my original iPhone with software 3.1.3 using Spirit. This process failed, and I decided to restore it. After the restore was installed, the phone rebooted, and attempted to access the iTunes Store. However, it cannot reach the store, and I get a window saying error -9813 occurred. My phone is stuck in the emergency call mode now, and any help would be much appreciated! I am running iTunes 8.2.1 on Mac OS X 10.5.4 (outdated, I know, though if I must upgrade iTunes/the OS itself in order to get my phone to work again, I will). Thanks
Edit: also, I can log in to my iTunes account and browse the iTunes store itself without any problem. The issue is that I can't access the iPhone activation screen.
Message was edited by: DP154Never mind, the problem seemed to resolve itself. I guess the issue here was on Apple's/AT&T's end and not mine, which I was concerned was the case. The phone successfully connected to the iPhone server, and then proceeded to copy data from a previous backup of mine.

IPod Touch 4G stuck on "connect to iTunes screen" after iOS 4.2 install
Hi, I just got the new iPod Touch 4G. When I first plugged it into the computer, everything worked fine; iTunes recognized it, I set it up in iTunes, and I was even able to play with it temporarily. When I tried updating to the iOS 4.2, when the update was almost finished, I got an error message. Now it it just stuck on the "connect to iTunes screen"
Yes, I have the latest version of iTunes.
Yes, I uninstalled all Apple programs then re-installed iTunes (many times)
Yes, I have updated the drivers
Yes, my devices are "enabled"
Yes, the Apple Mobile Device Service is started and automatic

IPod Touch stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen after attempting to install iOS6
Like the title says, I attempted to update my iOS on my 4th generation ipod touch. Not only did the update not install due to some unknown error, my ipod has been stuck at the dreaded "Connect to iTunes" screen. It isn't being recognized by Windows 7 when I plug it in, either. I've gone through the apple pages and followed their trouble shooting guide, and still nada. I've reinstalled iTunes, restarted my computer, done the sleep/wake and home button tricks, updated the drivers, uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers, used 3 different cords to connect my ipod to my PC, let it die then try to connect it; you name it. Does anyone else have advice on how to fix this? It's only a month old, and this is really frustrating.
To try recovery mode try using this program instead of the buttons.

Iphone 5S stuck on "connect to itunes menu" after installing new update!!!! HELP
So I'll make this simple. I hadn't updated neither my 5S nor my itunes for a while so I decided to do both of them together after doing my monthly backup. I did it whent on well. Then the phone restarted and now it shows the connect to itunes button (the itunes sign and the charger cable below it). My Itunes does not recognise my phone. My phone was on at the time of the restart and its the first time I update my phone like this. Usually I just do it from the settings menu in the phone. Please tell me how to easily fix it! Thanks so much.
-DelThank you for all that... But I tried everything! I checked everthying on these lists, I even reinstalled my itunes. And now I have the same problem. It still doesn't show any sign of being there on itunes. But each time I reconnect it to my computer, my computer makes the connecting usb sound. So it sees it but doesn't recongnise/display it.
Another thing, when I wanted to import pics and vids to my pc, when i'd plug my phone it, it would open a little window asking how I wanted to open it. But just before all this happened the window didn't show up so I had to put the 5 videos I wanted to get to my computer trough youtube.
