Somehow, I got a Facetime contact with a regular contact. How do I remove Facetime version without removing the contact?

According to the info on page 213, if you have a "unified" contact, you can "Edit - Unlink" the one you want to eliminate. Then you can delete the contact you do not want without losing the one you want to keep.

Is the FaceTime contact info you are trying to remove an email address or a iPhone number?
Not an iPhone or iPod (it's an HTC Wildfire with Android). He has a normal cellphone number and an email addressat hotmail.co.uk
Note: the double listing is in favourites for the phone app, and the contact is not doubled-up in the Contacs app (just noticed now).
Neither of those articles were relevant to removing the "double listing" in favourites.

I am afraid to turn "on" the button to sync to the cloud because I am not sure if the contacts from my phone merge to the icloud or is it that the icloud information merges to my phone? it does not seem to work for me. I have backed up my iphone 5s with a back up from my previous 4. the back-up process works fine, I can see all my contacts in the phone but then I activate icloud (on which there are no contacts) and all my contacts disappear instantly... I tried 5 times now and everytime the same result. I'm considering to stop using the cloud all together.
I've tried to manually back-up to icloud immediatly after restoring back-up on the phone, it didn't work.

I recently signed on for iCloud service, but find that it interrupts my workflow too often (which I know I can reset), but will soon exceed my free storage space. I have 200 gigs of data on my local drive and frankly the cost and benefit of having ICloud access to all of it is not competitive. This particular iCloud offering is overpriced for me. Tried this, but unfortunately there was no way to cancel it even when disconnected from the NET. I'm on WIFI which I turned off.

Why would APPLE program in this type of message? I'm already at 50% of my FREE storage on iCloud after only 2 weeks. There is no way I'm going to be held hostage by this clearly unacceptable "pay or die" programming lapse when I get to 100%. I know APPLE loves making money. Who doesn't, but this makes no sense to this devoted "Since 1984" Apple fan.

Last Spring I received a couple of emails to an alias I set up a long time ago under mac mail with mac.com - not my main ID - at mac.com. The mail had the Icloud extension. I just deleted it.
I then received a couple of e-mails forwarded to the same alias that came from a non-apple account that led me to search to see if the company was legit - it was. Using a non-apple hidden account I sent that non-apple account an email informing them apparently when they registered the ID or alias as an ICLOUD extension - apple did not check for duplication in accounts or aliases that were not in the Icloud.
I also sent feedback to Apple telling them to fix it and apparently they did - along with the person who replicated my alias.
On this site there were a number of postings from people who also had problems with mac mail and Icloud who resolved it by contacting Apple and getting the accounts cleared up.

I'm having similar issues. The iPhone4's face time works just as it always did but the iPad4 is not working. I can place a call but it won't connect, others can call and it rings but never connects. I've signed in and out of iTunes, removed and reinstalled the wifi, hard restart, and anything I can think of. It's driving me nuts!

It is not possible to have removed FaceTime from your phone. FaceTime is not an app on the phone. First, make sure that it's enabled in Settings>FaceTime>On. Then, to make a FaceTime call, go to a contact and tap the "FaceTime" button.
Make sure that FaceTime is not turned off in Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions.

Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

Hi Pez,
iTunes in the Cloud is not iCloud. Any songs that you have purchased but have not downloaded (or have deleted), go to iTunes in the cloud. The setting I mentioned will show all of your purchases in the various views in the Music app, whether they are on your device or not. If you turn that setting off, you will only see items that are actually on your device.
Glad to hear the second sync worked! But if they all start appearing again, make sure that setting is turned off

Short Answer: Yes
When they set up facetime, they either used an apple ID, or (for iphone only) their phone number. You call using one of them. An apple id linked email address in my opinion is simpler, as you don't need to worry about country codes and the like. (I have never tried to facetime anyone out of the country, so I will admit I am not sure what you do about country codes.)

Hmm, I see from the Apple Support webpage it seems you cannot call them directly from Israel, that's not good.
Okay, so FaceTime stopped working once you upgraded to iOS 7 is that the situation? It doesn't work over either cellular or WiFi networks? I assume you have checked the Settings>FaceTime>FaceTime switch is on and that you have your correct Apple ID in there as well?
