Facetime with iPad 3 g / wifi

Can you use the new iPod Touch Facetime with the iPad 3g / wifi?

The cell carriers - at least all I know of - do not allow Facetime over their connections, so you need to use WiFi.
BTW, you'll generally have better luck getting replies to a question if you avoid posting in a seven-month-old thread, particularly one started by someone else. You'll also have better luck with iPad questions if you post in the iPad forums.

  • Trouble doing FaceTime with iPad 2 using email address. Please help?

I have an iPhone 4S my wife also has an iPhone 4S
I have iPad 2 as well.
While at home connected to the same wifi source
I am able to do FaceTime video chat with each phone just by dialing the number of the other phone
I am able to do FaceTime connection from iPad2  by dialing either one of the phone numbers
However if I try to do FaceTime with iPad2 using the registered email account
    it says busy call back
I went to work and connected my iPhone to another wifi
I tried FaceTime with with the iPad2 using the registered email  it says myphone or iPad is busy
Both the iPhones and the iPad2 have the same registered  email address
Even if I enter an alternate eamil address in iPad2 it still says my phone or iPad is2  busy call back
iphone 2 iphone using same wifi ok
ipad to iPhone using the same wifi ok
ipad to iPhone with each using different wifi it is still ok
however iphone to Ipad using the registered email address it is not going through
whether the ipad is connected to the same wifi or different wifi
    Any suggestions
    Indyram

    Figured it out
    Here are some tips
If you want to Facetime using email address with another apple device
be it iPhone or iPad each individual device has to have a unique email address
You can have the same ID for billing purposes but for FaceTime connection
it has to have different email addresses
In Settings select Facetime and make sure you have different email addresses
If not you will get a busy signal
To connect to an iPad you have to use the email address assigned to the facetime of that iPad
To connect to the iPhone you can use either email address or the phone number
Hope this will help some one

  • Facetime with IPad

Can I do facetime chat to Ipad2-Wifi which is with My family in India  from my Iphone 4

When you setup FaceTime you "register" the main email address you will be associating with your FaceTime profile. It then becomes like a FaceTime phone number. Once you have registered your main email address, you can add additional email addresses so that if you have multiple email addresses, your contacts will be able to contact you.
So you would call the email address that was setup with your family's ipad2 or they can call your email address that you setup on your iPhone4 (which will only ring if your iPhone4 is on WiFi)

  • Mac will not sync with ipad over wifi

I have iTunes set to sync with the ipad over wifi; wifi is turned on on both mac and ipad; both are logged in but i can only sync using a cable plugged into the mac. Any ideas why.
    Thanks for the help

Your MacBook must be quite old.  My suggestion is to sell it and replace it with a newer model that can support later software.  You have probably received many years of good service from the old machine.
    Good luck.

  • How to set up facetime with iPad and MacPro that have the same Apple ID?

I have a iPad and a MacPro both with the same Apple ID but they are different locations. I am using the iPad in NY and my husband is using the MacPro in a different location. I cannot call him on the MacPro with facetime. When I call the message says "....not available"

    Hello Susan Dietz,
Much like calling from one phone to another, you would need a separate Apple ID to contact with FaceTime (just as calling your own phone number would direct you to your own voicemail, rather than ring your phone).

  • Wifi problems with ipad 2 wifi only and ios 6

Hi, loaded ios 6 last night and wifi worked fine at home. Came into work where I have logged on fine before: Now, I connect to wifi and it connects, a login screen pops up, and then says "success". Then there is then nothing! The login screen doesn't go away and wifi icon disappears if you cancel the login screen - any ideas please?

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks  http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Facetime with iPad Air and iPhone 4s on at same time

I have an iPhone 4S and iPad Air. When I get a Facetime call from someone else, both ring, and I can't answer on either one, even when I'm on a wi-fi network.
Is there a way to make this work?

    Hi there Mland78,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
Unable to make or receive FaceTime calls after April 16, 2014
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5419
    Symptoms
If you started to have issues making or receiving FaceTime calls after April 16, 2014, your device or your friend's device may have encountered a bug resulting from a device certificate that expired on that date. Updating both devices to the latest software will resolve this issue.
If you're using iOS 7.0.4 or later or iOS 6.1.6, this issue doesn't affect you.
If you're using these versions of OS X or FaceTime for Mac, this issue doesn't affect you:
OS X Mavericks v10.9.2 or later
OS X Mountain Lion v10.8 with the latest security updates
OS X Lion v10.7 with the latest security updates
FaceTime for Mac version 1.0.5 or later for Mac OS X v10.6
    Resolution
Update both devices (your device and your friend's device) to the latest version of iOS, OS X, or FaceTime for Mac. FaceTime calls will still fail if the iOS device or Mac that you're trying to connect to isn't up to date.
iOS automatically presents the most recent compatible update for your device. If you're using an iOS 7 compatible device and you're still on an earlier version of iOS, you should update to iOS 7.1 or later. If you’re using a device that isn't iOS 7 compatible, you should update to iOS 6.1.6.
If you’re using OS X Mavericks v10.9, update to OS X Mavericks v10.9.2 or later. If you’re using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8 or OS X Lion v10.7, install the latest security updates or update to OS X Mavericks v10.9. If you’re using Mac OS X v10.6, you should get the latest version of FaceTime for Mac in the Mac App Store.
Learn what to do if you still can't make or receive FaceTime calls and you've made sure both devices are up to date.
    -Griff W.

  • Can I make a call with Ipad 4 WiFi + Celluar

I brought Ipad4 Retina display WiFi  Cellular, Having mindset that I can use in emergency as phone. But I don't see any options to make a call other than FaceTime.

There are 3rd party Telephone VOIp apps available similar to facetime audio that will allow you to place a call over the internet but an ipad is not a cellular phone, its cellular function is for data only not voice which is why you see no options for it.

  • Help needed with Ipad (ios7) wifi direct print to Samsung m2070fw

I downloaded the app to the ipad and ran into the snag that the ipad when it tries to connect to the printer via wifi with the provided password when entered fails.  It seems to not work due to the wifi not connecting direct from the ipad to the printer (no router used in this setting).  I called the Samsung support folks and they had no ready solution but to ask here on the Apple commmunity.  Any ideas or key steps I might be missing

Hi there and welcome to the forum. The feature you're referring to is called "Wireless Direct" and both the Envy 4500 and Envy 5530 have this feature. When a printer has wireless direct printing capability it means your WiFi capable devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop) can make a wireless network connection directly to your printer without using a wireless router or access point. This sounds like it would work perfectly in the case of your friend who currently has no ISP. Here is  a link to a web page that explains wireless direct printing in more detail  http://www.hp.com/global/us/en/wireless/wireless-direct.html
I hope this information proves useful and feel free to post back on the Forum with any other questions.

  • Can't connect FaceTime with iPad 2.

After entering my Apple ID I get a message saying...
    FaceTime Activation
Could not sign in.  Please check your
    network connection and try again.
My network seems to be working fine and am able to access the internet as well as my Apple ID account through the internet.
    Please help...

    Hello gents
I also had this problem and tried a number of options. Port forwarding did not do the trick and as it poses a security risk it's not the wisest thing to do anyway. But after a very long search I found another tip which was to set the DNS of every Apple device you want to run FaceTime on, to 8.8.8.8
I tried this, and now FaceTime works on my iPad2 wifi/32 and also on my iMac and my MacBook Pro. On the same wireless network!
So this action seems to solve both the "can't connect" problem and the problem of not being able to run FaceTime at the same time on multiple Macs.
Just to make sure you should write down the original DNS address which is probably 10.0.0.138..
On iPad2, exit FaceTime, then go to settings, find the wireless network you're using, and tap the blue arrow thing next to the network name. There you will be able to access the DNS number. Just change it and save settings, then start FaceTime again.
    Hope this helps guys.
Good luck and greetings from sunny Netherlands

  • Facetime with iPad won't work after 6.1 Update

Is anyone having issues making calls to iPads from iMac (OSX 10.7.5 Lion) after the iPad has upgraded to iOS 6.1?  It worked before I updated the iPad, and it still works with my iPhone after upgrading that to iOS 6.1.  I have tried with other non-upgraded iPads and it works, but other upgraded iPads do not work as well.

    Try basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • Apple tv with ipad 2 wifi 3g

What does apple tv do for an ipad2?

Fair question.  Apple tv is a great standalone device, and to me, it is a great accessory to the pad.
As a standalone, you get access to all the stuff contained in the atv ad pages.  I am assuming you already know about that.
As an adjunct to the pad, I have a great time playing movies from my kids and grand kids on the big screen.
Anything you want to stream from the pad, on a bigger screen.
And now, it does mirroring.  Good for letting others see what you see.

  • Can an ipad with a 4g lte use facetime or is a wifi connection needed?

can a 3rd generation ipad with a 4g lte use facetime or is a wifi connection needed?

You can create a hotspot connection using your phone as the Internet source.  As far as the pad is concerned, it sees a wifi signal.  I don't think using the pad hotspot is going to work.
