Facetime with Iphone4

I have an Iphone 4 with Verizon.  When I use facetime, it shows my wifes phone number instead of mine.  Is there a way to change this so my contacts will see my phone number instead of hers?  I went into settings/facetime and it says it is verifying the phone number that belongs to my wife.  The phone was originally set up in her number.  Thanks for any help and information.

Some folks have discovered that changing their DNS service fixes FaceTime connection issues.
The ideal way is to configure your modem/router with DNS service, but often settings in System Preferences/Network on your Mac if you share the connection with your iPad or Settings/Wi-Fi on your iPad will override the router settings. Try either of these;

  • IPhone4 Facetime with iPad2 problem

Just have iPad2 and tried to have facetime using my iPhone4.   It is success at the first week.  But recently, when I use iPhone4 to facetime iPad2, it is always at the calling stage and not able to make a connection.  If I use iPad2 to call iPhone4, it display failure message.   Anybody faced the same problem for iPhone 4 facetime with iPad2.
My iPad2 version is 4.3.3 using e-mail address for facetime call.
My iPhone4 version is also upgraded to 4.3.3 using phone # for facetime call.
I use my iPhone4 to facetime another iPhone4, it is success.
I use my iPad2 to facetime another iPhone4, it is still failure.
Any hints to solve my faced problem?  Thanks.

  • How to enter Facetime with International iPhone4?

I have the iPod Touch4, trying Facetime with International iPhone friends. How should I enter their phone number? Does it need any 011+country code etc?
My friend called me through Facetime, but it keeps on 'Connecting' after I answered. Same to as I called my friend through Facetime, it keeps on 'Connecting' after she answered. If I end the connecting, it will mark I have missed call.

Here is how I do it from my iPod touch when I want to FaceTime to an iPhone, foreign or domestic:
    • Touch the contact card if one is already established
      • If not, touch "+" to create a new card
    • Touch the "Edit" button
    • Touch the label in front of the phone number if you already have a number
      • If not, touch the label in front of the word "Phone"
    • Select "iPhone"
    • Key in the number
    • Add any other desired info
    • Touch "Done" to save the contact
Does it need any 011+country code ...
Use the "+" sign in front of the country code for FaceTime calls to iPhones. (+1 in your example)
None of my successful FaceTime testing to iPhones in other countries starts with "0".
Every successful FaceTime test I have connected to iPhones in other countries from my iPod touch has taken the form as follows:
"+Country Code" followed by a space and the phone number.
Some of these phone numbers also contain spaces. (UK example, +44 #### ######)
    ... etc?
    No

Everything you report is a symptom of not trying FaceTime but not making a connection. Consider the following:
    (1) We cannot yet tell which end(s?) of the connection has the problem. Get this answer first.
Can either of you connect with anyone else? If not, both of you should test with someone else who knows his FaceTime works. Either or both can test with me if you don't have other contacts. Click my name at left for FaceTime contact info. I did not see a location for you, but the best time to test with me is 14:00 GMT - 03:00 GMT. I answer test calls whenever I am available, so try later if I miss you.
    (2) If one of you cannot connect to anyone, try from a different hot spot. If only one of you move to a different hot spot at a time, you should be able to track down which end of the connection is the cause of the problem.
If you can connect from somewhere else but continue to fail when you return to your usual wi-fi connection, you need to troubleshoot your wireless access. If you know someone who has FaceTime working, an easy first test is to ask him to come to your problem location and try to contact someone via your wi-fi.

    (4) Sometimes merely turning Airplane Mode or FaceTime off and then immediately back on in Settings will renew your wi-fi connection and get things sorted.
    (5) Restarting your iPod may fix your problem: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

I'm having similar issues.  The iPhone4's face time works just as it always did but the iPad4 is not working.  I can place a call but it won't connect, others can call and it rings but never connects.  I've signed in and out of iTunes, removed and reinstalled the wifi, hard restart, and anything I can think of.  It's driving me nuts!

    Hi
I would try this since Apple TV is built to allow multiple Apple Ids
    On you Apple TV
General > Settings >Itunes Store > Add New Account (put yours in here)
Then Switch account to your Apple Id
    Cheers

  • My househoulse is full of Apple products. We have Ipad, Ipod, and Iphone, but they are all registered under same email. Therefore, we can not facetime with each other. Does anyone know how I could change this?

How do I facetime with the same email address on the Apple product?

The iphone identification should be its phone number, for other devices, such as ipad, ipod, imac you must generate a new e-mail address for each.  You can do this by using Yahoo mail, google mail, or perhaps the e-mail system that your internet service provider offers.  The point is, each unit needs its own id.

  • I want to Facetime my Ipad from my Iphone but they are both set up with the same Apple id.  Do I need to create a new id for one of them in order to facetime with the other?

You should be able to call the iPad using your Apple ID from the iPhone. When calling from iPad use the iPhone's phone number to initiate the call.

  • IPhone won't facetime with daughters iPod, using same Apple ID but different email addresses.... Help

how do you get two devices to facetime on one apple id

Yes you can use the same apple id to facetime with two devices. I just tried it between my macbook air and my iphone 5S using the same apple id. You just need to make sure the ipod is trying to call the iphone number.

  • How to use facetime with same apple id

If I've already downloaded facetime on my imac do I have to buy it again for my mac book which is older and didn't come with facetime? And also, my husband has taken our ipad to Asia and I wanted to facetime with him using my imac at home, however I only have one apple ID so how do we call each other if the apple ID's are the same??

It's only 99 cents, and I do believe you'll be charged for the second download to the Macbook.  Your Mac book must have osx, 10.6.6 or later, installed.   You can use the same apple ID, but you must supply a different individual e-mail for address to the ipad, and you should also supply another different individual e-mail address to the Mac book.

  • Is it possible to use FaceTime With my two IPad With the same email address? I Will Google to china next month And i would like to communicate With my kids.

IS it possible to use FaceTime With my two IPad That has the same address? I Will Go to China soon And i would like to discuss With my kids from there i.e. One IPad in China And one in Montréal.

No, this is not possible.  It would be like dialing your own phone number.  You must verify an additional new email address for your second iPad.  See the following link which will tell you how to do this.  You will need to add this new address to Facetime app in one of your iPads.

  • Can I Facetime with another user on a PC with their webcam?

I'm trying to facetime with a friend, but they have a windows comp and a separate webcam. is it possible to do this?

You can't use facetime with a Windows user because they don't make the application for windows. You can still video chat, there are a bunch of options there... AIM, ICQ, Skype, Windows messenger... there are a few more. You can google for another if the ones I listed aren't what you want to use.

  • Can a user facetime with more than one user at a time

Only if you have more than one device running FaceTime at your end.

  • Macbook Pro Closed Clamshell FaceTime with external webcam?

Is this possible.  I have an external monitor, keyboard, mouse etc and the twelvesouth bookarc set up so my macbook pro can be my desktop as well in closed clamshell mode.  I miss out on being able to use facetime/skype etc because the monitor I use is a 30" LED that does not have a built in webcam.  If i buy a high def webcam and attach it via USB,  would facetime use it? Could this solve my problem?
    Thanks,

I have pretty much the same setup, 15inch Macbook Pro 2.66Ghz i7 8gb-ram and 500gb HD - I'm running Lion 10.7.2 and I've got the Mac Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse with 20inch Mac Cinema Display (no built in isight) which I 've been using with the Macbook closed. I've tried an old Logitech Webcam I had laying around but that wouldn't work. I also have an iPad2 and iPhone 4S and I've used that WebCam App that allows me to use my idevices as wireless webcams which I was able to use with SKYPE (iPhone 4S).
So using the app "iWebcamera by dw-c" I was able to set my iPhone 4s and iPad2 as an external wireless webcam and successfully use SKYPE. I WAS NOT able to use the same method with Facetime or Photobooth, so I'd also be interested in knowing if I purchase a better/newer wired webcam if that would allow me to use FaceTime with my MacBook Pro Closed as well.
Hope this at least gets you half way there mcbzero - it's all I have at the moment.

  • I can't sign in to my messages or FaceTime with mi apple ID.

I can't sign in to my messages or FaceTime with mi apple ID. I keep getting this message: (Your Apple ID can't be used to set up FaceTime at this time. and it gives me this: Customer Code: 3400-5829-7815.) how do i fix?
    <Email Edited by Host>

There is no official public documentation of that alert as far as I know, but apparently it can sometimes mean that the primary or alternate email address is invalid. Search the Web for the phrase "My Apple ID." The top hit should be an Apple web page with that title. I'm not giving a direct link because such links are never to be trusted. Sign in and verify the ID.
Otherwise, do as the alert directs. According to reports, you won't be charged for the support call if you select "Apple ID"—not the hardware model—as the product you're asking about, and cite the "customer code" in the alert as the "validation code" when you speak to the Apple representative. I can't confirm.
