Facetime with my kids
It appears that Facetime requires an Apple ID. Problem is my kids are young and I don't want to set up email addresses for them, which I assume you need to setup Apple ID's. It would be great to use Facetime from their Touches to my iPhone 4. What are my options?

By the simple fact that you post this question, I know you want to guarantee that your kids' FaceTime and other internet connections are safe and appropriate. While the Settings > Restrictions might help, clever (or determined) kids can find a way around them.
For the young kids you describe, the only responsible option I can suggest is to take away the iPods touch and replace them with age-appropriate toys.
You can set FaceTime as explained in the iPod touch User's Guide and leave it with whomever keeps your kids. Initiate FaceTime with the adult, who will limit your kids' FaceTime session(s) to you and other contacts you know are safe for them. When you are through, the adult can quit FaceTime and secure the iPod(s) until your next FaceTime call.

IS it possible to use FaceTime With my two IPad That has the same address? I Will Go to China soon And i would like to discuss With my kids from there i.e. One IPad in China And one in Montréal.
No, this is not possible. It would be like dialing your own phone number. You must verify an additional new email address for your second iPad. See the following link which will tell you how to do this. You will need to add this new address to Facetime app in one of your iPads.

2 New Ipads (Retina and Mini)(New to Apple) How do I share purchased apps, but others have each act independently? Mini is for the Wife the Ipad4? is for me. I want to use mine at work, etc. She's home with the kids. Can we set them up seperate, but share
--break--
So we are entirely new to Apple products. I'm an IT guy, but have always been a windows user.
So the Ipad with Retina Display is to be mine (and will use it at work for notes, organization, etc)
The MINI is for the wife.
But, are we allowed and can we.. buy an app and share that app between both devices? IE. Can I buy a copy of Angry Birds for the House and both Ipad's use that single purchase? and if so, can we still run the Ipads seperate other than to share the apps purchased. IE my facebook and email set up on mine and hers on her ipad mini?
When I finally find a note taking app I like, can I share it on her ipad, without her having all my work files, etc?
Thanks for helping out the apple noob. Hoping for a great experience, and anticipate droping $100 in apps the first day.. just don't want to do that twice. If this is against the usage policy, thats unfortunate but good to know. (I mean we can share stuff on PC as long as its in the same household)
thanks again (explanations or links are fine)There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:

Here's a limk with useful tips: Note: It's also valid in IOS 6

My iPhone and iPad are set up under the same account and when I try to FaceTime with the iPad or vice versa it says face time is busy and will not connect, how do I fix this
I can call my ipad with my iphone alll the time. That's how I check up on my kids at home when I"m at work. You just set up to your iphone's facetime setting with your phone number and set up your ipad's facetime settings with your apple id (in this case it's your email)

Hi
I would try this since Apple TV is built to allow multiple Apple Ids
On you Apple TV
General > Settings >Itunes Store > Add New Account (put yours in here)
Then Switch account to your Apple Id

How does one break up with your kid on itunes and not loose all their music? My teen says if he sets up his own account or a new account with apple he will loose his music. Im sure lots of parents have this issue with kids as they grow into teenagers. Any advice much appreciated.

If he purchases new music on the new account then presumably they will be in separate libraries
No. It will be in the same library.
You can have content from more than one iTunes account in the same library.
I did suggest saving the whole music folder to an external drive and then saving to new computer and deleting what he didn't want,he was less than impressed !
As opposed to sitting down now and going through everything before it gets copied over?
Kids...
It'll work but why not do it when you have the time and you are on your own computer rather than having to do it all at once?
Or you can quit iTunes, copy the entire iTunes folder to the external, open it (hold Option, launch iTunes, select Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the extrenal) then go through and delete what he doesn't want.
Then copy the folder on the external to his computer. -
I share my iTunes accont with my kids. Many of the songs that they purchase, I do not want in my iphone Library, and I don't want them to play when I have my phone on shuffle. How an I remove unwanted songs from my phone library withot affecting their devices?
These are the downsides of a shared library because if you delete the song from your library it will get also automatically deleted from your kids library. If you want to proceed then please follow this guide: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4915

Can I share my iTunes content with my kids new iPod touch ?
Can I share my iTunes content with my kids new iPod touch ?
yes, if you activate home sharing
Also, you could sync your kids iPod Touch to your iTunes. -
How do I facetime with the same email address on the Apple product?
The iphone identification should be its phone number, for other devices, such as ipad, ipod, imac you must generate a new e-mail address for each. You can do this by using Yahoo mail, google mail, or perhaps the e-mail system that your internet service provider offers. The point is, each unit needs its own id.

I have been sharing my iTunes account with my kids...now they are getting older and want to have their own accounts, how do I share the songs I purchased for them on my account with them on their new accounts? Is there a way to transer from my main account their new accounts? And can I share music from my account with them?
You can't currently transfer content from one account to another account. As long as the tracks are on the computer's iTunes that they use/sync to, and your account is authorised on that iTunes, then they should be able to continue to use them.

I want to Facetime my Ipad from my Iphone but they are both set up with the same Apple id. Do I need to create a new id for one of them in order to facetime with the other?
You should be able to call the iPad using your Apple ID from the iPhone. When calling from iPad use the iPhone's phone number to initiate the call.

how do you get two devices to facetime on one apple id
Yes you can use the same apple id to facetime with two devices. I just tried it between my macbook air and my iphone 5S using the same apple id. You just need to make sure the ipod is trying to call the iphone number.

How to use facetime with same apple id
If I've already downloaded facetime on my imac do I have to buy it again for my mac book which is older and didn't come with facetime? And also, my husband has taken our ipad to Asia and I wanted to facetime with him using my imac at home, however I only have one apple ID so how do we call each other if the apple ID's are the same??
It's only 99 cents, and I do believe you'll be charged for the second download to the Macbook. Your Mac book must have osx, 10.6.6 or later, installed. You can use the same apple ID, but you must supply a different individual e-mail for address to the ipad, and you should also supply another different individual e-mail address to the Mac book.

My apple ID is associated with my kid's ipad. I want to create her own ID but Im afraid she may loose everything she has downloaded (games, etc) if I give her a new ID.
Why do you ask in the iWeb forum?

Can I Facetime with another user on a PC with their webcam?
I'm trying to facetime with a friend, but they have a windows comp and a separate webcam. is it possible to do this?
You can't use facetime with a Windows user because they don't make the application for windows. You can still video chat, there are a bunch of options there... AIM, ICQ, Skype, Windows messenger... there are a few more. You can google for another if the ones I listed aren't what you want to use.
