Facetime won't log in

Facetime was working fine, but now when we go to gin in, it let's us get to the screen that says, People will call you using this email address, etc.  We click next but it goes back to the Enter Apple ID page.
The passwords are fine and the apple id must be live or we wouldn't be on here?  I recleicked on the verify email that apple sent as well and that confirmed that it had been verified before?
Any thought

I just got the new iTouch 4 and I tried signing into Facetime and when i put in my apple ID and password it says "could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
my wifi and internet work fine, and my date and time are correct, unless there is another network connection it's referring to, i have no idea what to do.
No, they are referring to the wi-fi connection you are using.
Sometimes turning your iPod's Settings > Airplane Mode ON and then back OFF will refresh the connection. If that does not help you, consider the following:
(1) If you have already verified that UP-n-P is enabled on your router, consider other troubleshooting suggestions here:
  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4319
(2) If your problem is not with a Firewall, troubleshoot your network itself:
  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
(3) One other thing that has helped many users is changing the iPod's DNS numbers
   to Google's 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4
You do this in Settings > Wi-Fi. Tap the to the right of your Network's name and enter the red info EXACTLY into the "DNS" line there.

I've tried several times to fix this issue, by deleting my keychain, unchecking the SOCKS proxy and by restarting the macbook pro, yet it won't log in to Imessage or Facetime. The box that appears says imessage was unable to log in and to check my network connection. My wifi works fine.

Ok.  Found something that said to shut down and hold the option, command, p, and r keys on restart.  Held them down for a few restarts and everything automatically signed in and works.  Woohoo!!!

    (0) Because is worked once, you must change the password back to the one that worked initially.
The only alternative is to create a new iD and password and replacing the one that does not work with a fresh activation of FaceTime using the new info. If you need help, see this article:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40
    (1) Test to see whether the problem is the same when your "kids" invite you to FaceTime.
    (2) Does "log in" mean you initiate a FaceTime call?
If so, you should not need to change anything because it worked before.
Try restarting (turning off and back on) your iPod. If you need help, see this article:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
Then test again. If the problem remains, try from another location that offers known FaceTime-friendly wi-fi. Examples include Apple Stores or VARs and Starbucks. If it works for you at other locations but fails at home, restart your modem and router/wireless. If they are separate devices, wait for the modem self-test to finish before starting the next device. Then test again. If restarting does not help, you will need to troubleshoot your wi-fi. If you need help, see this article:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
    (3) If your problem remains, try "Restoring your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a previous backup." If you need help, see this article:
      http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
You might even want to consider restoring your iPod to "new" condition and then starting over on setting up your "new" iPod.
    (4) If everything fails, and if you want to continue to try to resolve this yourself, post back all the new information you found while trying these suggestions. We will try to offer other suggestions based on the details in your reply.
    (5) Alternatively, seek help in person from the "kids" or an Apple retailer.

  • After update to Lion FaceTime won't Work.

After my Update to Lion Facetime won't Work.
I can't log in and get an Server Error.
In the Systemlogs is an entry like:
FaceTime: [Warning] TRUST validation failed with result 5
FaceTime: [Warning] FTFaceTimeServerBag: URL bag data invalid (not valid)

    Same problem here..
    Very frustrating..
On both Macbook Pro 2010, and Black Macbook...
Neither of which had any problems running Facetime 1.0.2 on Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Now on Lion 10.7 Facetime 1.1 will not authorise me..
"The server encountered an error processing registration. Please try again later."
The error code is the same whichever Apple ID is used, and even if a non-existent user account is used. This seems to suggest that the bug is as likely to be with communication between Apple's servers and Facetime as it is a bug inside Lion itself.
    Please sort it out Apple!

I changed my apple password and now FaceTime won't recognize it. Says apple id or password is wrong, what need I do?

    Hello solarkey,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with logging into FaceTime after updating your Apple ID password.
First, I recommend toggling FaceTime off and then back on:
Toggle FaceTime off and on in FaceTime > Preferences.
Additionally, you can click on your Apple ID in FaceTime > Preferences to sign out and sign in with your new password if you have not entered your new password.

  • Facetime won't stay on with my Mac

I have a relatively new Mac running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1. Facetime worked fine when I got my computer. All of sudden it quit working. I've rebooted. Now Facetime won't stay on. I see the FT window for a couple of seconds and it disappears. When I turn it on I get the following message: "The last time you opened FaceTime, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again?" Doesn't matter if I click "Don't Reopen" or "Reopen," the same thing happens, it comes on for a few seconds and then disappears. There is a red #1 sitting on top the FaceTime icon at the bottom of my screen. Help!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Updated my mac to mountain lion 10.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install? Can anyone help me?

updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?

It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.
Here's a thread that helped me with iPhoto:

  • Facetime won't work after Lion install... No mic from isight

After installing Lion on my 2010 mac mini, Facetime won't recognize my firewire isight mic. Video comes in from the isight, but it doesn't find it as an audio input choice. System preferences recognizes it and hears your voice, but not Facetime. You can Facetime with someone but they won't hear you. Skype still works fine on Lion using the same isight (audio &video).... tried resetting PRAM but still nothing...  C'mon Apple.. Lion and Facetime need a fix here!!  I've read others are experiencing same issue!!

In Lion, neither the previous version of FaceTime Version 1.1 (258) from OS X 10.7.1 nor the current Version 1.1.1 (262) from OS X 10.7.2 can use external iSight's Firewire mic.
The firewire iSight camera works with Lion's FaceTime, but the iSight's Firewire mic is not available for selection in FaceTime > Video. One alternative is to use another video chat app such as iChat or Skype.  Both iChat and Skype can use external iSight's mic in Lion (and earlier Mac OS versions.)
