Factory reset caused iPod to freeze

So I recently had an app start crashing on me, and I was told by the support people for said app that it was something with my iPod and to do a factory reset asap. So I started one tonight.
It sat there for a good ten minutes and just had the circle in the middle of the screen spinning, then it came up on the computer that an error occurred. When iTunes loaded again it didn't show my iPod like it has before ('cause that's happened once before). So I looked over, and it still had the circle spinning on the screen. I plugged it in to see if that would do anything, and my computer didn't recognize the iPod as an iPod. So I unplugged it. It's still sitting there with the spinning circle. I've tried powering down my iPod, and that doesn't work either.
Is there anything other than waiting for it to die that I can do?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • If i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it as the option 'set up as new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos and ect?

if i factory reset my ipod touch(5th gen), can i reset it to the option 'set up as a new ipod', and then i can just go into the app store/itunes store and log into my apple ID so i can just restore my music and apps and not icloud with photos, contacts, ect. and then later i can add contacts that i need/want instead of them restoring them from icloud?
The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...
and i hope you understand my problem..
i would REALLY REALLY appreciate it if someone could tell me a solution to my problem!!! thank you so much!

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

    What is disabled there?
Did you go into your application drawer to look for the play store icon?

  • Installing os 3.1.2 causes ipod to freeze

I have software version 2.2.1 installed. When I try to upgrade to 3.1.2, itunes seems to download the software OK but during installation on the touch I get the error message: "The iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3001)." The iPod then freezes (showing the connect to pc symbol). In order to restore it (back to 2.2.1) I have to go into a new user account and restore from there. If I attempt to restore from my own account I get the same error message. I have tried installing 3.1.2 from two different computers, both running on xp. Any ideas? Thanks.

See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9963763&#9963763 and what user Tomasec writes about it:
Unfortunatelly, this does not work. Error 3001 during update or restore is a common problem of iPhone 3GS users working on Czech Win XP (either Home or Professional). The only solution found yet is to update/restore iPhone on a computer with another OS (Vista, OS X). Many people hoped that this problem will be solved by the new iTunes 9.0, but nothing happened.

  • Video podcasts won't play, cause ipod to freeze

    Hi there,
My 5.5g ipod won't play video podcasts. I've downloaded several different ones, made sure the "TV Out" is turned off, and played with several other settings, all to no avail. When I open one from the video>video podcasts menu, the screen goes black, sometimes it says "Loading" with the little "play" arrow in the top left corner, and that's all I get. It freezes, and I have to reset.
I've also tried restoring the ipod to factory conditions, which didn't work. The podcasts play in iTunes, so that's not the problem.
    This thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8969818&#8969818
also seems to describe my problem, but I can't find a solution there.
Anybody have any ideas for how to fix this? Thanks!

It's up to the producers of the podcast whether they make their video podcasts iPod compatible or not. It's certainly not a requirement for an iTunes Podcast feed which is, perhaps, unfortunate. You could try sending the producer feedback but even if they take any notice it won't affect podcasts you've already downloaded. The *Make iPod compatible version* rarely works (somthing to do with whether audio & video are separate or multiplexed to start with). I suggest you download SUPER which is capable of converting almost anything to an iPod version. You have to navigate through a bunch of links before you get to the actual download, but it is there - just ignore the links to other commercial software on the way, SUPER is free.

PS. On my current setup SUPER generates the odd error message while running but still produces a working output file...

  • I factory reset my ipod how do i install it now

i deleted everything from;i pod but now how do i restore settings with oringinal apps

What do you mean restore settings with original apps?  It sounds like you actually want to restore the device to factory settings in iTunes.  This procedure wipes all content from the iPod and resets all settings back to their factory defaults.  See this article for more information on how to restore your iPod in iTunes.

  • Car Charger causes iPod to freeze.

I just bought a new Belkin car charger but for some reason when I use it my iPod freezes after a few songs. One time I got the sad face icon. I think whats happening is that the iPod thinks it's being synced with a computer and when it can't find the operating system it registers it as an error. I can't seem to find a way around it.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

I have exactly the same issue with Texas Hold'em. It's not the iPod, since I returned 2, and it's now happening on a 3rd new iPod. I can't play more than 10 minutes without it freezing, and I have to reboot my iPod, and reset all my settings even. So, the game is totally unplayable.
Is there an update to the game that fixes this problem?
And if so, how would I get access to it?

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.
Also, see iTunes- Restoring iOS software.
If he has Find My Phone activated the above will not help you. He needs to do the following:
Is Find My Phone turned on?
You'll have to login to iCloud.com, from any computer, locate, then erase your phone. Once done, restore from backup, if you have one.
That's the only way for you to fix this.

  • My ipod touch 1g died while in factory reset and won't turn on or sync

I was factory resetting my ipod touch 1g one night and didn't notice the battery life was extremely low when i started. It eventually died before the factory reset finished and it no longer goes past the apple logo and just shuts off after a few seconds when i plug it into my windows laptop, and when i hold down both the top button and the home button for 20 seconds it comes to the apple logo then the screen goes blank and shuts off (while plugged in).

    R.I.P.
