Anyone know how to reset a 1231?  I do not have the model handy it is located at another site and we do not use these models regularly.  I have searched online and did not happen to find any information on reseting this particular model. Thanks

we do not have CLI access it is looking for a password so we do need to do a factory

  • Factory reset for the MEX-BT3100P

How do you do a factory reset for the MEX-BT3100P car stereo.
I've messed up something and can't get any sound, although it still beeps.  There is no reset button on the back, and a long time ago I had a sony rep explain to me the steps involved in doing a factory reset (some buttons to press) but can't find where that info is now.  I can't find it anywhere on the site, and it seems online chat and telephone support can't answer my question either.  Oh where oh where is that rep that I talked to so long ago?
    hope someone has the answer.
    thanks in advance.

ok, so it seems that pressing DSPL and the BACK/MODE buttons for more than 2 seconds resets it, and it brought it back to demo mode...
My CD still doesn't want to play though, so it must be a different problem I'm having... I can hear it boot up, and the timer starts to go suggesting that the song is playing, but no sound is coming out at all...
When I turn off the bike, the stereo beeps at me telling me not to forget the faceplate, so sound is capable of getting throught the speakers.  Anyone have any idea what I"m doing wrong?

  • Factory reset for macbook air 2012???

I was given a macbook air and I would like to factory reset it but I dont know how. he doesnt remember any old passwords and ive never used a mac. the OS X UTLITIES panel appears when I turn it on . I just wanna bring it back to "right out of the box" status. help! lol id really appreciate it

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You—not the original owner—must do that. Changes made by Apple over the years have made this seemingly straightforward task very complex.
How you go about it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number onthis page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
It's unsafe, and may be unlawful, to use a computer with software installed by a previous owner.
    1. If you don't own another Mac
    a. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller—not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine is very old and has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    b. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for a MacBook Air. You should have received the media from the original owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To start up from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then restart the computer and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    c. If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should start up in Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    d. Some 2010-2011 models shipped with OS X 10.6 and received a firmware update after 10.7 was released, enabling them to use Internet Recovery. If you have one of those models, you can't reinstall 10.6 even from the original media, and Internet Recovery will not work either without the original owner's Apple ID. In that case, contact Apple Support, or take the machine to an Apple Store or another authorized service provider to have the OS installed.
    2. If you do own another Mac
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to prepare a USB device, then start up the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can start from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    3. Partition and install OS X
    a. If you see a lock screen when trying to start up from installation media or in Recovery mode, then a firmware password was set by the previous owner, or the machine was remotely locked via iCloud. You'll either have to contact the owner or take the machine to an Apple Store or another service provider to be unlocked. You may be asked for proof of ownership.
    b. Launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive—not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the  Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    c. An unusual problem may arise if all the following conditions apply:
OS X 10.7 or later was installed by the previous owner
The startup volume was encrypted with FileVault
You're booted in Recovery mode (that is, not from a 10.6 installation disc)
In that case, you won't be able to unlock the volume or partition the drive without the FileVault password. Ask for guidance or see this discussion.
    d. After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. If you're installing a version of OS X acquired from the App Store, you will need the Apple ID and password that you used. When the installation is done, the system will automatically restart into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    e. Run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the original owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed—you have to repurchase them.
    4. Other issues
    a. If the original owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're irrevocably linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Mac App Store Customer Service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    b. If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.
    c. When trying to create a new iCloud account, you might get a failure message: "Account limit reached." Apple imposes a lifetime limit of three iCloud account setups per device. Erasing the device does not reset the limit. You can still use an iCloud account that was created on another device, but you won't be able to create a new one. Contact iCloud Support for more information. The setup limit doesn't apply to Apple ID accounts used for other services, such as the iTunes and Mac App Stores, or iMessage. You can create as many of those accounts as you like.

  • Factory reset macbook air - HOW??

    Hi there,
I have an 11" macbook air running Mavericks, and have since acquired a new macbook pro retina.  I want to give the macbook air to my son, but before doing so - would like to perform a factory reset.  I am not sure how to do this.  Is there a process, or are there steps that anyone could walk me through?  I have tried restarting while holding "command" + "R." but it looks as if I can only do a software restore, and it won't do a clean re-write of the whole system (including user home folders, etc.)
    Please help!!

Essentially this is the procedure: Preparing Macbook for sale.

  • Where to find the factory reset for Shuffle 3rd gen?

My dad just bought a preowned iPod Shuffle 3rd generation.  We are needing to do a factory reset on it.  I tried to do the conventional way after plugging the Shuffle into the USB port.  After scanning for a while, it said it can't do a factory reset and gave me an error code of 1436.  I went to the page for that error and tried to download the reset utility for iPod Shuffle.  It said it wouldn't work on mine, it only works on 1st and 2nd gen.  I've looked everywhere for the utility manager for the 3rd generation.  I'm at a loss.  Can anyone help?

    Anyone?

  • I need to do a factory reset for a Go desktop 6835 with Windows XP Does anyone know how??

Does anyone know how to do a factory reset on the pavilion desktop 6835, ruining Windows XP?? I've tried what I did on my HP laptop, but it only restored the settings.

Did the selller tell you what version of OS X was installed when the machine originally purchased. If it had Snow Leopard on it you have an illegal verison of OS X, as the license for Lion and ML upgrades are not trasferable, they're also  pretty useless to you because they're tied to the old owner's AppleID. If you are not sure or cannot find out then call AppleCare.
However if the machine originally shipped with Lion on it, the simply restart in the Restore Partion, do and erase and install and you're set. You can start in the Restore Partition by holding down the Command + R keys when you hear the startup tone and then choosing the Restore Partition and open Disk Utility.

  • Factory reset for Kufatec Fiscon in Audi A3 without a paired phone

I just bought a second hand Audi A3 with the Kufatec Fiscon bluetooth system installed. I have been unable to pair my 5 or 5c with the Fiscon, even though it is showing up in the bluetooth menu on my phone.
Reading through the forums it seems that one solution might be to factory reset the Fiscon system. Is it possible for me to do that without a phone that is paired to it? Without being able to pair, I am not sure how to pull up the Fiscon menus on any of the Audi system screens.
    Thanks in advance.

Find a support site for the system in the car.
    It's not an Apple device.

how do i factory reset my macbook pro with no start disk

See -> How to prepare your Mac for sale. I don't know that you're selling your machine, but following the instructions will get you back to a 'factory reset'.
Note that if your MacBook Pro came with installation discs, you'll need to call Apple and order a replacement set for your specific model...

  • Factory reset for ipad learning labs

We are considering purchase about 30 ipads along with the ipad learing lab stations for student use.  Is it possible to have to factory reset in a mass managed way.  For example, what would be nice is if we inserted the ipads into the lab station it would automatically sync to factory default erase all customizations the students did without having to manually do it indiviually.  Or have the ipads talk to a centeralized center and we can tell the ipads remotely to reset to factory default.
I hope i'm being clear in what i'm asking.
    thanks for the assistance.

Another forum contributor suggested a look at this site,in response to another thread.  There is a lot of great information on mass educational device deployments.  I think you will find it helpful.

    Hello salimqaisar,
To do a factory reset on your hp mini 1000, I would like to direct you to this document:
Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7).
Under "Types of System Recovery", it describes the three types available one being a "factory reset".  There is a possibility that the option is no there for you, in which case you're looking at doing the "system recovery".
I hope this information helps you.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Is factory reset for Windows 7 gonna restore my BIOS too to its original state when I bought it?

I am using Windows 8 now, I bought my laptop in JULY 2012. It came with Windows Home Premium and I have the recovery disks for Windows 7. I plan to factory reset my laptop because of my disappointment with Windows 8 and supprt for Windows 8.
I want to know that if the 'Factory Reset' will restore the laptop BIOS to its original state. I mean I have my BIOS updated to the latest. I want it to go back to its old state. Also how long does the Factory Reset takes? I own HP DV6T 7000 Quad edition with 32gb mSSD.
Intel RST doesn't work no matter what, my HDD is shown in non-RAID and there is no way I can change it to RAID. So my last option is to try the Factory Reset and see if it helps. I am pretty sure  IRST will work only if my BIOS is restored to the original state along with everything so it starts detecting my HDD in RAID.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
A factory image recovery will not affect the BIOS version or its current settings. The amount of time that the factory image recovery takes wil depend on which type of recovery media you have. If you have usb recovery media than it will probably take perhaps thiry minutes. It you use a recovery disk set then the recovery could take a few hours to complete.
Once you start the recovery do not touch the keyboard.
Make sure that the wireless is turned on before you commit to the recovery.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Factory Reset Ipad Air without password?

    Hi guys,
Need a bit of help I work in retail and have a customer who returned and ipad to us without factory resetting first and also we can no longer contact her to get the password so we can reset it ourselves.
Is there a way I can bypass this and factory reset it without the password?
    Cheers

I see now. It just seemed so odd without the context that you just provided.
I have no clue how the vendor/supplier relationship works with Apple, but I would contact them and explain the situation. I have to believe that they have a way of dealing with this issue with their resellers.
Other than getting help from Apple, there isn't anything you can do unless she is willing to cooperate. I would be tempted to take legal action against her if I could.

  • Factory Reset for AP 1010

    Hi all,
One of my AP 1010 got a static IP in vlan 110 Range but Controller is in Different(default) Vlan. Due to this its not getting registerd with WLc. Anybody can suggest any procedure to remove that IP from AP.

My first post didnt show up so here we go again. The 1010 has a 2 pin console port inside of it to do a lwapp config to default factory reset. You open it up with a terminal session. This requires a special cable as well. The easiest way will be to get a spare controller and set the interfaces to be on the same network as the AP. Once it joins, reset the AP to factory defaults and reboot it. Make sure it comes back up then simply change it from static to dhcp and join it to the new network and controller via dhcp. Make sure all versions of code support the 1000 series APs.
