Factory reset issue on Slate 21: "Unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped"

I tried a factory reset via menu+vol- and got stuck after wifi/ethernet selection.. wait a sec... message. It keeps on aborting after that giving me the "Unfortunately, setup wizard has stopped" message. It goes on on a loop.No more slate 21!..Does anyone have a fix for that?

Hey , Considering your post here http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Android-Tablets-e-g-HP-Slate-7/Slate-21-s100-Pro-Android-4-4-2-KitKat-Problem-with-launcher/m-p/5180203#M22927 it looks like you rooted and installed a custom ROM on your device.  HP does not support custom recoveries and ROMs. You will need to seek support from a third party. If you re-locked your device and restored the default recovery (which I don't believe HP offers, only the image, so you'd have needed to make a backup manually) I may be able to make some suggestions. It's also possible that you bricked your device. Thanks.

  • Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped...

    Hello everyone,
I've got a Pantech Marauder that I'm handing down to my step-son; I did a factory reset to clear the apps and data, went through the setup process to verify that it worked, made sure the phone was active, and did another factory wipe so he could start fresh.
Now, at the language selection in the Setup Wizard (first option), I get the "Setup Wizard has stopped" error, and it won't let me progress. I can access the menu system through the pull-down at the top, but can't get into the phone. The SIM is recognized, and I can even text and whatnot -- I just can't get into the UI itself.

    Marquia,
Thank you for the response, albeit a little late. I actually contacted VZW customer support, who then contacted Pantech support, and they just exchanged the phone for me; none of the local resets worked, and the CSR attempted a reset from his end that wasn't successful either.
I likely didn't fully complete the setup wizard before I did the second wipe, which may have corrupted the APK, but I don't know for sure. Regardless, VZW got the replacement out to me overnight, and the new one works like a champ.
    Thanks again!
(Oh, and I apologize for the rooting comments; didn't realize they were against the TOS)

  • Galaxy S3, unfortunately touchwiz home has stopped

So, I got my new S3 and it is very sexy looking. Now I started up and everything was great. But once I Import my contacts from my old smartphone ( Eres) using the vcf file, I start getting the "unfortunately touchwiz home has stopped" which pretty much makes the phone unusable cause it keeps popping up every time u press okay.  I had to factory reset a couple of times to narrow down the issue to the contact Import.
So was wondering if anyone has run into this issue before? cause I would hate to have to enter all my contacts again manually.

    Hello,
Samsung or Verizon, I hope you guys will give us the solution.  At first, I thought this was because I have 15000 emails/contacts to be transferred and the phone will lockup and display the "Unfortunately, TouchWiz home is stopped".  As I see that there are many of you having the similar problem.
I ran into this problem as soon as I activate the phone and do a contact transfer about a week ago.  Many days later, after stopping by the VZ store for hours with the Device Specialist - and after a couple of factory resets, I had to go home and wait for the complete transfer which takes 12 or more hours.  Then after that is done, it freezes again.  I called VZ technical service couple more times and reset again and again and spent a day to do the contact transfer again; and the problem just keep popping up.  The store Specialist suppose to called me back today and did not again.
I called and told VZ the very second day that I do not want to pay for the restocking charge of $35 since it is the problem with the phone.  He told me he noted on the account but later when I asked other agent to check, it was not noted on my account!
I hope the store Specialist will help me to fix the problem and or get the restocking fee waived. I think I need to wait for the a better phone or till they fixed the problem.  I will return it and stick with my Bionic for now.
So, anyone from VZ or Samsung or Google, please speak up and take action to help us.
P.S.  I did tried reset, cleared TouchWiz cache, display phone contacts only, and other so called solutions that were given without result.
P.P.S.  I also tried transfer or sync contacts from gmail, sdcard
Does anyone know if there is an app that will keep all my phone contacts with phone numbers only and not email included. This will make a much smaller file to store and search for dialing, right?

  • "Unfortunately, Bluetooth share has stopped"

I have a Note 3 and a Gear, since the last android update from VZ every time I try to SCAN for devices (not pair, I don't get that far) i get the message "Unfortunately, Bluetooth share has stopped" I have tried a hard reset, I have tried closing the bluetooth share and test application in the app manager and clearing data/cash. I just got a new car and I really want my phone to work with it! VZ will you be pushing out an update soon to fix the problem (either a 4.3 or 4.4 update, I know some places in Europe have 4.4 already)? The problem also happens randomly during the day, scanning for devices is just a way to force it to happen.
It is causing problems with my Gear because it keeps loosing the connection to the phone and is then searching for another signal, which is in turn killing the battery on my gear.
    Please help!

  • Getting "setup.exe has stopped working" message when trying to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows 7 machine

I am getting a "setup.exe has stopped working" message when trying to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows 7 machine. I already tried running setup.exe as an administrator with the same results. I have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 installed on the affected machine. Could this be the cause of this issue? Or does someone know the root cause of such error?

Hi - are you getting it at the start of installation, during or after 100% progress has finished?
Is it just LabVIEW you're installing, or is it drivers too, in which case, what was the last large package that was installing at the time?
This could be caused by the NVIDIA chipset driver :

  • WRT400N setup.exe has stopped working

I just got a brand new HP Pavillion desktop with Vista 64 and I am having installation issues. Every time I put the setup disc in the drive it fails to load and I get an error message telling me that setup.exe has stopped working and will be forced to close. I even tried skipping the autorun and going in to my rom drive and manually selecting the setup.exe file. The initial splash screen appears and says please wait loading but I never get any farther than that because the program locks up. I thought maybe the disc was defective but I have tried it on an XP desktop and an XP netbook and the disc works fine on both of those. What gives? I have searched this entire forum and it seems like I am the only person having this problem. Is my new computer defective or is it the user
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Is the new Vista Dekstop is wired computer or wireless computer ?
Are you able to go online with the other wired and wireless computers ? If yes then, you do not need to run the CD anymore on the VIsta Dekstop.
If the new Vista dekstop is wired computer then, just connect the eternet cable from the computer to the router on one of the 4 eternet port and restart the computer and it should be able to go online.
If the new Vista dekstop is wireless computer then, try to locate your network and connect it using the secuity key(if the network is secured)...It should work !!!

  • Error Message: Unfortunately Xperia Home has stopped working

I have had my Z3 for nearly 3 weeks now and until this morning all was working well - loved the phone!
2 things happened this morning (may be connected).
On first trying to use the phone (from it being asleep overnight) the screen froze and it would do nothing.  I left it a few minutes (so it went back to sleep again) and all appeared then to be fine.  I did a restart.
A little later (no more than 90mins) I found the phone to be showing an error message - Unfortunately Xperia Home has stopped working - (OK).   On clicking OK, message appeared again, and again and again. I tried rebooting the phone and hoped this would clear the error. It didn't.  I was, however, by a very round about route able to get on-line.
    Swipe down to quick settings
    Settings
    Change home screen to simple
Error message still came up but would go once I clicked OK. I managed to get online and did a search for the error - found this thread:
    http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-J/Unfortunately-Xperia-Home-has-stopped-Working/td-p/720607
I had a system update that had downloaded and was ready to install, so before trying to clear all the data on xperia home (as suggested in the thread - Apps - All - Xperia Home - clear data) I ran the update.  This didn't clear the error - Xperia home has stopped working.
So, I followed the instructions on the thread above ie, all apps, xperia home, clear data. (It doesn't actually clear all the data, your accounts, passwords etc are all left intact. However, it does clear your home screens of all settings and personalisation (although it didn't change my background).
Touch wood, the phone now seems to be OK (having reset my home screens.
Having been an xperia user for a number of years (I loved my Z and had no problems with it and actually delayed upgrading) I am extremely disappointed that this flagship phone should start giving error messages such as this, particularly after only 3 weeks of use.  I only hope that this is the last time I see this message!
At least am tech savvy enough to have been able to circumvent the error, get online, find a solution quickly and sort the problem out - all done in the space of 40mins on the way to work!!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Does Sony have any answers as to why this has occurred?
    Hope this all makes sense!!

  • Satellite A300D - Upgrading from Vista - "Setup.exe has stopped working"

    Hello,
I am using Satellite A300D with Vista and I have been trying to upgrade to Windows 7 using the Toshiba Upgrader.
After choosing the language and proceeding with other steps, it asks me to uninstall a bunch of programs. Some are uninstalled just fine but when it comes four other programs it says "Setup.exe has stopped working" and it does not uninstall.
I have tried uninstalling them manually but I got the same message.
    These programs are;
    Atheros Driver Installation Program
    Toshiba Hardware Setup
    Toshiba Supervisor Password
    Realtek High Definiton Audio Driver
As a result I cannot proceed with the upgrade.
Anyone know what the issue might be?
    thanks in advance,
    Can - TR

I am having the exact same problem. I have the toshiba satellite 350D. I am only stuck at the atheros driver installation program. As soon as it's supposed to be uninstalled I receive the " setup.exe. has stopped working" I tried uninstalling manually as well and get the same message.
I think the only fix would be to reinstall vista and then try upgrading to windows 7 again. I would like to stay away from reformatting though.
I would love an answer to this question as well!! (frustrating)

  • Microsoft setup bootstraper has stopped working

hi, when i am trying to install microsoft office professional plus 2013  in my windows8.1 based system pc , i can not installed it. there shows a massage " microsoft bootstraper has stopped working" i tried to installed it several time but
it shows same massage . please help me.....

    Hi,
"Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working" is a generic error for Office installation. It could be caused by lots of reasons, thus the troubleshooting of this issue can be tricky.
You might first check the setup log file and see if there is anything useful there. If you would like us to help analyze the logs, you can send the log file to this email account:
[email protected] and inform us here (the email subject should be the link of this thread).
Also, to troubleshoot the issue, I would sggest we try following steps:
If you have any trial or beta version of Office 2013 ever installed on your computer, please try to run
    Microsoft Fix-It tool
to remove any possible traces which might cause the problem.
If you have enabled any real-time scanning feature of your antivirus program or firewall application, temporarily disable them, then try again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working, cannot install

We have acquired license for MS Office Pro Plus 2013.  and downloaded SW_DVD5_Office_Professional_Plus_2013w_SP1_64Bit_English_MLF_X19-35976.ISO
to  be installed on my 64bit system. but i am unable to do that as it reaches half way and then shows below mentioned message,
Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working
I have tried several suggestions like cleaning registry, disabling firewalls, antivirus, stopping print spool, stopping services etc.
please help me get thru this problem.

    Hi,
There are many reasons for the happening of this problem (Bootstrapper has stopped working), like a beta edition of Office exists, antivirus or firewall program or other security software, etc.
Have you ever attempted to install other Office products on this machine previously? Remnants of old Office installation is a common cause of this issue.
I see you've mentioned "cleaning registry", not sure how you did this, the recommended way to remove any traces/remnants for the old Office instance from your system is to run
    Microsoft Fix It tool.
After this, please try again in Windows clean boot and see if issue persists:

Please feel free to post back with any findings.

  • Unfortunately Google Chrome has stopped

Unfortunately google chrome has stopped working - This is the error message  I get constantly on my one week old Turbo. I've tried Chrome, Chrome Beta, Dolphin and Firefox. They all crash. It does seem to happen more often in landscape mode. Google keyboard was crashing too but an install of Swiftkey seemed to fix this problem. Is this a software problem that may be fixed in an update? I really like this phone but using the internet is painful when it crashes every minute

Have done all of that. Didn't help. This problem started the day I got the phone home. This seems to be an issue with many phones, but a google search provides no clear cut fix. It seems to be a luck of the draw whether a phone has problems like this or not. Thanks for the reply
