Factory reset with no screen?

Hello! I've recently installed windows 10 on my HP 2000 laptop, which seems to have disabled my htmi cord!! the problem is, my screen is broken, and now i am unable to see anything!! Is there any way to factory reset my computer to get rid ow windows 10 without being able to see the screen?

First:  Put the device into DFU mode.
DFU MODE STEPS
Hold the Power Button (3 secs)
Continue holding the power button and also hold the home button (15 secs)
Release the power button while continuing to hold the home button (10 secs)
Your device should prompt with the "Connect to iTunes Screen"
Second: Plug it into your computer and open iTunes. It will either prompt to restore and up date or you can manually restore using the following steps
You should be all set!

  • IPhone 4 16gb Factory Reset with "Other" showing up question

i just factory unlocked the iphone 4 with my provider. i did a full factory reset and set up as a new device.
currently it displayed 439 MB "Other" and 13.27 GB Free. i understand that a part of the 16gb is used for the ios operations. so that i should have somewhere between 13.6 - 13.8 GB of actual free space. i am wondering what the 439mb of "Other" is and if its something i can ger rid of.

There will always be "Other" on a device, it is the OS, SMS/MMS/iMessages, and various other things that do not fit into the other defined catergories.
The difference between the 13.x GB available and the advertised 16GB capacity is NOT iOS.  It is merely a difference in the way the capacity is advertised versues actual capacity.

  • Windows 8 reinstall, not 8.1 for gods sake, Total factory reset with Factory disk

I downloaded the windows 8.1 system on my factory 8 system. Major problems occurred. Now I need to install windows 8 to factory settings. I am looking to do a clean install as my pc has less than 25 hrs on it even though it is 1.5 years old.
It is a dell 2330 all in one. I do not have much on here and it has been save to a zip drive. I would like to keep windows media and a few other programs and need a little help with this. Thanks all for the support.

    Hi,
As your PC is OEM version, please contact dell for the installation/repair media (as britishdhez suggested), with that you won't need to activate Windows a second time for the clean install, it will use the key stored in your BIOS.
For the key issue, please take a look at the explanation of Don in the following thread:
How to Get the Product key!?
Besides, if we want to update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8, we may follow the link below:

  • How factory reset phone when screen is broken?

I am unable to turn off my phone by holding on the the "sleep/wake" button and swiping, because of my broken screen it wont swipe.

If you have Find my iPhone enabled, open a browser to https://icloud.com/find. Put your phone into Lost mode, Erase it, then remove it from your account.
Alternatively, restore it from Recovery Mode.

  • Freezes during "starting windows" message even after factory reset.

I've gone through diagnostic tests and they've shown it wasn't a hardware error. After a failed update to windows 10 my computer rolled back to windows 7. After the rollback when attempting to boot win 7 It froze and hung on the starting windows screen.  At first i was able to boot in safe mode and navigate the desktop and drivers, but after plenty of failed fixes i had to result to a factory reset with alienrespawn. After the factory reset the issue still persists, and i can no longer boot up in safe mode. When i do, it tries to do first time installation and says that i has to reboot in normal mode to complete first time config. My computer didn't come with a disk so i can't re-install windows 7, and factory reset dosen't seem to fix the issue. All I need is to resolve this issue so i can get back with a clean slate to upgrade to windows 10. Any ideas?

Hello joell, This appears to me as a memory issue. from the description you list.
You might try downloading and running Memtest, that can be found  Here , and see if Memtest finds any memory errors.
If errors are found, you might try removing all but one of the memory modules and run Memtest again and see if you receive any errors. If so, remove that module and install another, and test each one individually until you have checked all the modules separately. If you manage to determine if one or more of the modules are faulty, just install the modules you know are good, and see if the system will boot.
You may have to perform a HP Recovery Restore since this possible faulty memory may have corrupted the operating system and other programs.

  • Factory reset - the what, why, and how for Gingerbread

I wanted to share this information regarding a Factory Reset and how it is used for Gingerbread - both the what, why, and how - in case anyone is interested in the details. If you embark on this process, this thread is worth a close read. thanks to d.harris for writing this up for the SOAK group. good luck everyone and remember, YMMV.
First, what does a "factory reset" do? The short answer is: it will return your phone to the condition it was in when you first purchased it EXCEPT the Android version will match your phone's latest update. For example, I had Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) on my phone before the "soak". My phone was updated to Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread or "GB") during the "soak". I had some trouble with video performance in the Fox News app and missing album cover art in the Google Music app. So I decided to do the factory reset. After the reset was finished, my Droid X still had Android 2.3.3 on it but all of the settings had been restored to their factory defaults. And presumably, all Android operating system (OS) caches had been flushed. All of the data that was stored in my phone's memory was cleared. So my contacts were all gone. And I had to reactivate my phone (*228 1) just like a new phone and reenter my Google account info.
Does a factory reset actually clear the entire contents of the phone's memory and re-install Android from scratch? (That's what I wish it did.) But I'm not sure that it does that because the entire process seems to go too fast for that. However, a factory reset does seem to do a better job of cleaning out the remnants of the previous OS (Froyo 2.2.1) than a standard "update" does. But that's not all.
The factory reset also clears all of the apps that were installed in the phone's memory. And it clears all of the app data that was installed in the phone's memory. So you will have to reinstall all of your apps from the Android Market (or wherever they came from). Normally, you do not have to pay for them again because the Android Market remembers your previous purchases as long as you register your phone with the same Google account.
However, the Android Market does not remember the free apps that you installed---so you should make a list of all your apps before you reset your phone so you won't forget the free ones. The reason I wrote "installed in the phone's memory" above is because a factory reset gives you a choice whether or not to clear your phone's micro SD memory card. If desired, it will leave it alone. So any apps or data will still be present on your card after the reset. However, your phone will not be aware of the apps on the memory card because all "knowledge" of them will have been erased from your phone's internal memory---you'll still have to reinstall ALL of your apps. But the data files will still be there. Regarding the "built-in" apps that come pre-installed with Android, they will also be restored to their original state and version when you do a factory reset. So you'll need to update some of them (like updating Google Maps and updating Adobe Flash from 10.1 to 10.3).
Before you do a factory reset, you should have a fully charged battery becaues you do NOT want to run out of power in the middle of a reset---that could "brick" your phone. I always take an extra precaution: in addition to a fully charged battery, I also connect my phone to AC with the Motorola AC-to-USB charging adapter that came with it. Not only does it insure that I won't run out of power, it also keeps my battery fully charged so I have a 100% charge after the factory reset (you'll have a lot of work to do afterward to reinstall your apps and restore all of your Android and app settings back to your preferences).
    Here's a pre reset checklist:
    • Export your contacts to your SD card so you can easily restore them later (Contacts/Dialer menu > Import/Export > Export contacts to: SD card).
    • Make a list of all of the apps that you installed (Android menu > Manage Apps > Downloaded tab).
    • Get a copy of your Google account login info (user name and password).
    • Get a copy of your Verizon Backup Assistant PIN (if you use this service).
    • Turn off your phone and pull its battery. Wait 30 seconds or more and reinstall the battery and turn the phone back on. This will make sure that there is nothing hinky in your phone's volatile memory as the factory reset begins.
    • Fully charge your phone's battery and plug the AC charging adapter into the phone.
Now you're ready to do the deed. Follow these steps:
    1. If it's not already on, turn on Google's "back up my data" option with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Back up my data. This is required for the next step.
    2. Turn off the "automatic restore" option with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Automatic restore. This will prevent your phone from trying to download every paid app that was previously on your phone all at once. It is much better---especially if you have a lot of apps---to install them one at a time. Plus, you may not want some of them to be reinstalled right away if you are trying to determine if one of them is causing trouble under GB 2.3.3.
3 If you do not want to use Google's "back up my data" service to restore your wi-fi passwords and such, then return to Step 1 and turn it off.
    4. Begin the factory reset with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset. You'll be asked to confirm that you really want to do a factory reset and you'll be given the opportunity to clear your micro SD memory card as a part of the process. I chose not to clear my memory card because I have a 32 GB card with "tons" of music and other files that I do not want to have to restore (it would take hours).
When should you do a factory reset? Everyone should do it before they give their phone away, sell it, or discard it. You don't want someone else to have access to your personal data! And, a factory reset can be a helpful troubleshooting tool when faced with problems.
By the way, my factory reset did not help the video problem I was having with the Fox News app nor did it enable Google's Music app to find all of the album art on my micro SD card. Both problems persisted after the reset under GB 2.3.3.
Finally, there are other things you can do to flush old data from your phone such as clearing the cache partition of your phone's built-in memory. This requires the use of its "Android system recover" menu. Even though I expect this cache data to be cleared during a factory reset, I did it after my reset just to make sure. Clearing the cache partition is usually what folks try before a factory rest so they can (hopefully) avoid the factory reset. I'll leave it to a Motorola staff person to go into that.

OK, got it ...  the Power ON Factory reset procedures might have changed with GB ...
To get to a Factory reset using the Power up method:
    1.  Power Off phone
    2. Press & Hold the HOME Button
    3. Press and Hold the Power ON button.
You come up to the Triangle with the Exclamation mark & android guy.
Press BOTH the Up and Down Buttons at the same time.  This brings up the Blue menu of options.
use the Up/Down arrows to scroll thru the choices. Press the POWER Button to Select the menu item you choose.
You can harmlessly test this and just choose to Reboot without doing anything, just to see how it works in case you ever need to do this in the future.
edit:  It was concluded in the test group that they changed this process to align it with the new DX2 as the camera button isn't hard-wired like it is in the DX. So likely they just wanted to make this process the same for both platforms.  At least it sounds like a good reason...

  • After Factory Reset - the dreaded 3F0 message "please install an operating system".

I have seen numerous threads on the 3F0 message relating to missing HDD/OSes but none seem to match mine.
I have an (albeit old) HP Envy 13-1050EA,  I decided to completely refresh it and go back to factory reset state.
The reset completes succesfully, the machine then starts it's setting up the OS (Windows 7 HP).  It reboots a couple of times as expected then suddenly throws the 3F0 message Just after its finished installing drivers.
I have performed the usual HDD tests - the disk is there, all present and correct.  In fact I have tried it with various HDD and get the same results:
I can install an OS from OEM (windows 7 and windows 8) without a problem, but ONLY with the recovery disks do I get the 3F0.  But I would like a factory reset with the original Image that I paid for originally - not just the OS (The Linux front etc)
How do I get the the machine to recognise it has been installing the OS for the past 20 minutes, is HP's recovery faulty in some way?
I have two of these machines - identical spec - if I cloned the drive of the working model is it easy enough to change the Windows 7 License Key - are there any other keys that I'd need to be aware of?
Any help would be gratefully accepted.

    Welcome Blue.
You can clone the drive and change the product key.
You must make sure that they both have the same version of Windows COA's.
After you have the cloned drive booted go to START then COMPUTER then SYSTEM PROPERTIES.
At the bottom of SYSTEM PROPERTIES you will see CHANGE PRODUCT KEY.
Click on it and put the product key in that is on the bottom of that laptop.

  • SIM not Valid after factory reset using a non-US SIM card

I bought an unlocked iPhone 5 at a US apple store.  It worked fine for two years until factory-resetting it.  Now, during the setup process I get a "SIM not valid" message. I tried an iTunes restore to no avail.  I called Apple support and was escalated to two different "experts".  I got two very different answers:
Expert 1: an unlocked iPhone can be used internationally but can only go through a factory reset with a US SIM card.  Since you don't have one you will have to come back to the US, get an American SIM card, finish the setup process and then you can get back to using it internationally.  There is nothing we can do here at Apple to bypass this procedure.
Expert 2: Our database shows that your phone is indeed unlocked and is available for use with an Israeli carrier (which is the carrier I am using now).  Either the SIM card is defective or there is a problem with the hardware of the phone.  Please ask for a replacement SIM card from your carrier and if this does not solve the problem you can send it to the US for repair. The repair will be costly.
Obviously neither of them is solving my problem.  Is there another solution?  Is it time to make the switch to an Android device?

Sorry if you have already tried this
Any chance you can ask for a different / new SIM from your carrier?
or even better see if one of your friends / family has a working phone with a nano SIM
Try that temporarily in your phone
If it works = corrupt SIM most likely
If it does not - please let us know and we can brainstorm further

  • Jetpack 6620l factory reset issue

So the config settings on my  brand new Jetpack 6620L have become corrupt and I am unable to access the web admin page to complete a factory reset. No problem I will just use the pinhole reset inside the battery compartment. After several attempts of holding down the button for 5-6 seconds until it reboots per the exact instructions on the VZW website for the manual factory default option, all the settings are still there when it reboots. The Verizon support rep advised that it needs to be returned to the store for replacement as it is a hardware issue.I would tend to agree as no networking equipment, router i have ever owned failed to factory reset with a pinhole press.Anyone run into this issue with this model and found a solution ?Maybe the instructions are incorrect on the Verizon support site?

The reset button should work the way you expect it to.  If the device is not properly resetting back to the defaults and allowing you to access the admin page then the device should be sent back for warranty replacement.
Other than that perhaps there is something on your current PC that is blocking you from accessing the Jetpacks admin page.  I would try accessing the page from a 2nd PC or device to see if the problem is consistent or not before turning it over for replacement.  If you can access it from a 2nd machine then you know there is some kind of service blocking your usage on the primary PC which we can dig deeper into.

  • Qustion about Factory Reset

    Hi,
I have the Sony Xperia Z1.
At first when I got it I was unable to perform encryption on the device.  I know this because I have tried repeatedly using the appropriate process all the time.
Then after a couple weeks I was suddenly able to encrypt the device without changing any settings on the phone.
Now I have changed my pin after i encrypted the phone and I cannot unlock the phone from the encryption screen.
    What am I to do?
I checked online for a way to perform the Factory reset from this screen and I cannot see any, beside pressing "Volume UP and Power Button at the same time, which does nothing.
Holding down the red square button next to the GSM Card slot only restarts  the phone. (so please avoid suggesting to do that...lol)
I would like to factory reset the phone. and since  I'm travelling i don't have a personal computer/laptop readily accessible.
    Please help me.

Use PC Companion to perform repair
Make sure your phone is unplugged from your Pc and fully switched off
So run PCC Select Support zone then Select Update my phone/tablet then select in Blue repair my phone/tablet - select your phone and follow the instructions - When prompted hold back or volume down depending on phone and connect your USB cable remember phone must be switched off - This should start the repair process and get your phone working again
Or try using SUS found here

i did a factory reset on my ipod touch but now when i try turning it on it just goes to the apple screen with a loading sign, ive let my battery die and tried reconnecting but it still wont work. it doesnt even come up on itunes.

Why won't it let you sync?  What happens when you try to sync it? Any error messages from iTunes?  How is your iPod configured to sync music from your iTunes library?  In other words, what options do you have selected from under the iPod's Music tab in iTunes?  To access this tab, plug your iPod in, select it under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes, and over to the right locate and select the Music tab along the top.
Or are you trying to manually manage your iPod's contents?  In other words, is the Manually manage music and videos option enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab?
