restoring factory settings does not delete any user data (contacts/photos etc)... what you are after is formatting the handset.
I think the code is *#7370# someone pls confirm?

  • Factory Reset - 7960 Series Phone

Hello. I've got a frustrating issue here. I just purchased a 7960 IP Phone and would like to perform a factory reset on the unit. I have followed the directions in the following article but my phone doesn't respond as it should.
    http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/788/AVVID/7960_default.html
When I power up the unit and hold down the # key, I never see the message stating that a factory reset initiated or similar. The current load is different from what I use and need to get it to reload.
    Please help! Thanks in advance.
    Brian

When I power my phone on, it boots up normally like the rest of my phones but it has some old POS3 load on it and I am unable to provision it manually. I believe it has a SKINNY load on it currently and I would like to upgrade it to a SIP load. I have all the correct binaries and have done this many times previously by just doing a factory reset and putting the right files in my TFTP directory.
But when I power the phone on while holding #, it lights up headset steady for a fews seconds, then mute steady for a few seconds, then the speaker button, then it goes into normal boot.
I believe at this point, it should flash all three buttons and I can then enter 123456789*0# to reset. But it never gets that far.
BTW, I have verified that the # button does in fact work.
I wish there was I way I could open up the phone and change a jumper to manually force a reset or something. Kind of like what you can do on a motherboard for a BIOS reset.

  • Problems with a new IP phone 7906 after factory reset

    Hi Guys
I am currently having problems with my new IP phone 7906 after doing factory reset and here is a video of it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvCLtwIAwVw
I used this command I found on the net:
    Hold down
while plugging in the phone and keep holding it until the message waiting indicator (red light) starts blinking.  Then
release # and type 123456789*0# in sequence.
I was trying to switch my phone to sip and it also dont want to take tftp setup either.

    Tim,
    Found this on the net
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/ts/fn/620/fn62949.html
Might be woth giving it a go
6.Pull power on the phone (even if power is PoE).
7.Hold down the # key on the phone.
8.Continue holding down the # key and re-apply power.
9.While still holding the # key wait for the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light on the handset to start flashing.
10.Once the MWI light is flashing, release the # key and enter the following sequence exactly on the keypad:
    3491672850*#
Once this sequence has been entered on the IP Phone, if all the network criteria above have been met, it should begin its recovery process. This process can take up to 15 minutes to finish. The phone may appear to be doing nothing during this time. However, if the phone does not recover after 20 minutes then it is possible that the recovery is stuck. In this case, re-examine your network and verify that steps 1-4 are in place, then re-issue the factory reset sequence.
    * Note: The factory reset sequence is a way for a phone to clear flash and still upload to a valid firmware image. This is facilitated by the termxx.default.loads file, but requires that the image files listed in the termxx.default.loads file are available in TFTP for the phone to download. Open the termxx.default.loads file in any text editor. This loads file is essentially just a packing list showing all the OS and application files the phone needs to function. The files include a cnu, cvm, dsp, app and jar files. Please make sure that these files as listed in the termxx.default.loads file are in TFTP. ("xx" will be either "06" for the CP-7906G model, or "11" for the CP-7911G model.)
    Additional Diagnostic Steps:
    - Try a hard-coded IP address as a test to see if this resolves the upgrade failures. If it does, and the number of failing IP Phones is relatively few, this procedure may be the most expedient. After the IP Phone upgrades successfully, reconfigure the IP Phone to use DHCP.
    - Try putting the phone on a hub or a different switch and see if this helps change the startup timing enough so that the upgrade completes successfully.
    Regards
    Alex

  • Has anyone actually done a factory reset on an Airport Express 802.11n?

Apple is telling me two ways to do a factory reset of the new Airport Express with "N" capability. One representative says that you hold the reset button while plugging in the AE and then 4 green flashes should occur and you release the reset button. The other rep says you should hold the reset button while plugging it in and then a series of rapid amber flashes should occur and then you release the reset button. The website says flashing green......sigh.
I have tried both and the green flash never happens while the rapid amber flashes happens and then I release the reset button. I have tried several times and this does not factory reset my AE as all information is still in there when I use the setup utility.
So, if anyone has actually done one of these, which method is correct???

I too had problems with Airport Utility not recognizing the Airport Express. I followed the instructions on the manual to hold the reset button for 10 secs and that did nothing. I did notice that around the 5 sec. mark the AE flashed the amber light repeatedly and then went back to a slow flashing. So instead of holding the button for 10 secs the next time around I only held it for 5 and voala!! It worked. After a few more resets I was able to finally set AE the way I wanted it (creating a new wireless network) and all is well now.
BTW, this is the only I could get my new Macbook Pro's wifi to work consistently and without problems. Prior to this, it kept loosing the network connection and speeds were very slow.
    I hope this helps...

  • Factory reset my satellite laptop

hey, i would like to factory reset my satellite x200/x205 series. it's an old computer with alot of stuff on it. i would just like to in a way start fresh with a "new" computer. i have backed up and transferred all my important files and documents already and my computer is ready for a reset. am i doing this right? if i factory reset my comp will it mess up any drivers or anything else on my comp? if so how can i fixit or update any possible drivers afte the reset? i have the toshiba recovery and applications/drivers that came with the computer for windows vista home premium 32 bit disk one and two. if i put those in and follow the prompts is this all i need for a factory reset? i also have the upgrade your windows vista experience disk that came with the computer also.

When I had so much trouble installing Windows 7 from the purchased cd, I had to do an "out of box recovery" for my laptop . Make a back up disc of everything you want to keep. I only did Windows Photo Gallery, there was nothing else of importance to backup. Then insert the Toshiba Recovery Disc that came with your computer at the time of purchase, and follow all the directions.  If you do not have the Recovery Disc, call  1-800-457-7777, they can send you one, for a very small charge (?? $20.00 or so ??) Make sure you have your Internet Security and Anti-virus disc ready to install. Personally, there were less problems with the install than the download. TIP TIP TIP I use my favorites box all the time, so I wrote down every site I had listed there...that way when the out of box recovery was complete, all I had to do was go to my list (abc order) and open each page or site, then hit add to favorites. That saved me so much time !!! I also write down the passwords for each site, just so I don't have to remember them, and when you're working and trying to think...well senior moment takes on a life of it's own !!!   Hope I helped

  • What, *exactly*, does a factory reset do?

My Thinkpad T430, less than a year old, is having issues - corrupted .dll files, Windows Update not working, all sorts of fun stuff. I am waiting on someone to e-mail me clean copies of the .dlls I need BUT am concerned that that won't fix everything, especially the problems with Windows Update. I've exhausted pretty much every other option I can find to try to repair this at this point. The nuclear option is a reset to Lenovo factory settings from the Windows repair environment accessed by pressing F8 during boot, but before I do that I want to understand *exactly* what I would be doing to my computer.
Specifically: will a factory reset return all Windows system files to their original state, meaning there is no chance that the issues I'm having will persist? Will it guarantee that Windows Update will work again and that all of my .dll and other system files will be in a fresh, non-corrupted state? Does the process replace current system files with original versions that were installed on the computer?
I just don't want to restore to factory settings and find that Windows Update still won't work and now I have to install over a year's worth of updates manually from the Microsoft website, one by one, or go through the trouble of having to reinstall all of my programs, get my files back on the computer, fix settings to be as I want them again, etc. only to not have these issues fixed.
    Thanks for any help/input.

    OK,
IMHO the simplest way to perform the factory recovery is to prepare factory recovery media (cd+ 3dvd, or usb flash drive, 16 gb in size) using Factory Recovery Disks applet within Control Panel.
After that recovery process all information on laptop will be deleted (OS, applications, user data) and the state of the OS and applications will be as from the factory. So before that process perform your data backup. Of course after laptop recovery you should to upgrade the OS, drivers, applications from Lenovo, install your applications again.
Or you can repair and replace files (.dll as you mentioned) yourself from the recovery environment by pressing ThinkVantage button while laptop boots up. But it's useful way if you have full system backup.
I''d advice to make full system backup after factory recovery, with upgraded drivers, applications.

  • Factory reset after power off

I use Cisco switch sg300-28. When i turn it off and turn on, it reset to factory reset include login password, dose it normal operation or I miss anything?
    Thank you.
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

Hello Jerry, the SX300 series switches have a running configuration and a start up configuration. For the switch to retain settings, you must save the running config to the startup otherwise all settings will be lost.
After making a change there is a blinking save icon on the top right. You may click this and follow the windows. In addition, you can go to Admin -> File Managemenet -> Copy File and save there as well.

  • Factory reset and a minimized image recovery

    Has anybody tried this?
I am considering doing a factory reset to restore my computer to the original, and...... then..... doing a minimized image recovery to remove all the trial applications and games software on C drive.
What else will I loose doing the minimized image recovery besides the trial applications software?
How about the programs (Cyber...etc.) that were included for the Blue ray drive..play and record that aren't trials.
Just what exactly  are the trial applications ?
Any discussion or remarks on this ?
This laptop has 2 hard drives, C and D. HP's Dv7 Pavilion. Windows Home premium 64 bit O.S.
    Thanks
Spring fever, mud season and computer cleaning go together.

    Thanks saturnwings,
My reasoning for the factory reset following with a MIR is because I have 2 physically separate hard drives installed in the laptop. Looking back, I probably should have done this when I first got it.
I did finally get a response from HP stating the only thing removed by doing a MIR was the games. They had no clue what was originally on the computer even with the ser.# ( software dejour?). I might want to take this with a bit of caution (my thought).
If I was only to do the MIR only affecting my C drive with the OS, to completely? remove the games,  it would leave my D drive intact (I have 2 separate hard drives).
I loaded (installed) as many programs on to the second hard drive as I could because the C drive isn't that big. Because of this, I was worried about lingering problems, thinking  I might need to reinstall programs to regain the links to the start menu.
I'm still trying to learn how to get these programs to the start menu if I was to leave the D drive intact (MIR). I am assuming there is a way?.
What I want is a setup where my computer is free of the games, and trial software, but with the programs I have installed and the data and documents I have from these programs.
Probably the easiest way is a new install of windows and wipe the slate clean, costing me $100 +/-, but I'd loose HP drivers, etc. which I've found aren't that easy to replace.
I am leaning toward a complete factory reset, MIR to remove what bloatware I can, followed by "uninstall software" from controll panel to get rid of what I haven't used in a year with a reinstall of my prefered programs and documents but I'm still looking for other suggestions or experiences.

  • Factory Reset Satellite A215-S5837

I'm trying to factory reset my Satellite A215-S5837 to sell, I've been trying to do that hold 0 when you start the laptop but all it does is stay on this black screen with toshiba leading innovation and it stay on it till i realese the 0 button,

I agree that it's confusing. And I could be wrong.
All that is in the section Hard Drive Recovery Utilities, which begins on p. 59 of the User's Guide.
       Satellite A200 Series User’s Guide
Just below that section heading is this disclaimer.
       (Available on certain models)
If you inspect the spec for your model, you'll see that there is no software listed to burn recovery discs from that hidden partition. That was the basis of my inference. But it may have been left off the list in error.
It's easy to discover whether the partition is there or not. Simply open Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) and take a look.
1.46GB partition and other small partition are for the System Recovery Options and the factory softw...

  • Factory Reset for AP 1010

    Hi all,
One of my AP 1010 got a static IP in vlan 110 Range but Controller is in Different(default) Vlan. Due to this its not getting registerd with WLc. Anybody can suggest any procedure to remove that IP from AP.

My first post didnt show up so here we go again. The 1010 has a 2 pin console port inside of it to do a lwapp config to default factory reset. You open it up with a terminal session. This requires a special cable as well. The easiest way will be to get a spare controller and set the interfaces to be on the same network as the AP. Once it joins, reset the AP to factory defaults and reboot it. Make sure it comes back up then simply change it from static to dhcp and join it to the new network and controller via dhcp. Make sure all versions of code support the 1000 series APs.

Even if the email address was only associated with another Apple ID (as an alternate or rescue email address), it would not be available for use as your Apple ID (email addresses can only be associated with a single ID).
There isn't anything you can do to troubleshoot this on your own.  You could try contacting Apple support to see if they can help.  You are not normally charged for support questions related to your Apple ID.
