Factory rest imac monitor colour settings ready for spyder 4 install

i need to install sypder 4 pro and it asks me to make sure the monitor colour is set to factory default. Anyone know how i do this?

Open System Preferences (under the Apple menu) and select Displays. Select the Color tab. You'll see a number of display profiles, including hopefully your iMac's default profile. If it is not already selected, select it.
Best of luck.

  • Automatic Colour settings problem for WAD Chart Column type

    Hi,
In WAD (BI 7.0) Chart Creation i am having issues with colour settings for Chart item Column type with 3D. I have six key fig in query i am trying to show all KF in Chart. But it is showing only one colour for all keyfigs. atlast  I have manually assigned different colours for different series, but no use... the issue remains same.. Please help me on this issue
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards
    Harsh

    Hi Harsh,
    Please try the following options.
    1. Try swapping the axes. Certain charts follow the YX convention.
    2. Right Click > Edit > Click on 'Refine' > Click on the chart type on the right frame (Bars/Pie etc) > [OK] Vary Category by Color: Enable this checkbox.
    3. If you have finished with these settings, you may switch back to Wizard mode to follow up the settings (Step 3 of 6 - Value Properties)
    4. Under Categories in Wizard, just make sure you are giving options to suit all the Categories in an uniform fashion. To begin with don't bother to give a fixed Category Count. (As your chart size may increase dynamically based on GRID data)
    5. Goto Refine > Click on Global Settings > Choose 'Color Palette' > Tradeshow/Enjoy/StreamLine/Custom : These are the optional themes which may be well adjusted to suit your requirements.
    Thanks,

  • 10.6.8 update: corrupted master 'iMac.icc' colour settings

    Hi –
During the lastest update, the master 'imac.icc' profile has become corrupted during the reboot. Now shows a very 'washed out' and high contrast screen.
Can I download the iMac replacement .icc profile from the support archive ?
    – or is there another suggestion (yes – I have tried Expert Calibration – but its not making any difference to screen visibilty)
    Kind Regards,
    Frazer

I'm having the exact same issue on my new 2011 21" imac. The screen looks very washed out and all of the colors are off.
I also tried using the expert calibration mode but I could not get it back to the pre 10.6.8 settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Josh

  • Use imac monitor for laptop display?

Just curious, I've got a new mac book pro but the screen size just isn't sufficient for some applications. My 24" imac works great for it, but since this is my work laptop I'm not supposed to put these files on my home computer (not to mention the programs). So, I want to know if there is any way to use my imac monitor as a display for my laptop.
I know there isn't just a DVI in port on the imac, but there's got to be a way to do this... If it were a PC I'd say remote desktop.

christie.cone, Welcome to the discussion area!
Not directly the iMac does NOT have a video input.
However, you might want to take a look at ScreenRecycler.

  • Creative Suite Colour Settings

I was asked from the illustrator section to drop this discussion here.
I have  completely bought and installed Indesign CS5.5, Photoshop CS5 Extended  and Illustrator CS5. The Adobe Bridge was of course installed with each  of these packages. Now I try to setup one colour setting in Illustrator  save it as required, than I start the Bridge, got to edit -> Creative  Suite Colour Settings (just for synchronization) and I get a nice Error  message, telling me that Colour Management can not be enabled.
My  question now, do I really have to buy all theses software packages  again in an adobe creative suite edition, or is it also possible to  synchronize these settings if one buys this software applications  separately?

Not sure I follow you here. Nothing stiops you from assigning the same profiles in every app. Yes, the gloabl synchronization is only available in suites, but in the end it's just a comfort feature, nothing essential that prevents you from setting up unified CM at all and considering, that you probably only do it once and then never again, a very minor thing...

Can Apple Configurator deploy and modify Apple TV iOS 6.0 settings? For instance, what if I wanted to submit a 'reset all settings' command, but not a 'factory restore'?

Did you follow the instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4367
Pay attention to differences in power connection depending on whether or not you have AppleTV2 or AppleTV 3.
Also some microUSB leads don't seem to work - try another if you can. Disconnect superfluous USB device/hubs too if possible.

  • Factory reset - the what, why, and how for Gingerbread

I wanted to share this information regarding a Factory Reset and how it is used for Gingerbread - both the what, why, and how - in case anyone is interested in the details. If you embark on this process, this thread is worth a close read. thanks to d.harris for writing this up for the SOAK group. good luck everyone and remember, YMMV.
First, what does a "factory reset" do? The short answer is: it will return your phone to the condition it was in when you first purchased it EXCEPT the Android version will match your phone's latest update. For example, I had Android 2.2.1 (Froyo) on my phone before the "soak". My phone was updated to Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread or "GB") during the "soak". I had some trouble with video performance in the Fox News app and missing album cover art in the Google Music app. So I decided to do the factory reset. After the reset was finished, my Droid X still had Android 2.3.3 on it but all of the settings had been restored to their factory defaults. And presumably, all Android operating system (OS) caches had been flushed. All of the data that was stored in my phone's memory was cleared. So my contacts were all gone. And I had to reactivate my phone (*228 1) just like a new phone and reenter my Google account info.
Does a factory reset actually clear the entire contents of the phone's memory and re-install Android from scratch? (That's what I wish it did.) But I'm not sure that it does that because the entire process seems to go too fast for that. However, a factory reset does seem to do a better job of cleaning out the remnants of the previous OS (Froyo 2.2.1) than a standard "update" does. But that's not all.
The factory reset also clears all of the apps that were installed in the phone's memory. And it clears all of the app data that was installed in the phone's memory. So you will have to reinstall all of your apps from the Android Market (or wherever they came from). Normally, you do not have to pay for them again because the Android Market remembers your previous purchases as long as you register your phone with the same Google account.
However, the Android Market does not remember the free apps that you installed---so you should make a list of all your apps before you reset your phone so you won't forget the free ones. The reason I wrote "installed in the phone's memory" above is because a factory reset gives you a choice whether or not to clear your phone's micro SD memory card. If desired, it will leave it alone. So any apps or data will still be present on your card after the reset. However, your phone will not be aware of the apps on the memory card because all "knowledge" of them will have been erased from your phone's internal memory---you'll still have to reinstall ALL of your apps. But the data files will still be there. Regarding the "built-in" apps that come pre-installed with Android, they will also be restored to their original state and version when you do a factory reset. So you'll need to update some of them (like updating Google Maps and updating Adobe Flash from 10.1 to 10.3).
Before you do a factory reset, you should have a fully charged battery becaues you do NOT want to run out of power in the middle of a reset---that could "brick" your phone. I always take an extra precaution: in addition to a fully charged battery, I also connect my phone to AC with the Motorola AC-to-USB charging adapter that came with it. Not only does it insure that I won't run out of power, it also keeps my battery fully charged so I have a 100% charge after the factory reset (you'll have a lot of work to do afterward to reinstall your apps and restore all of your Android and app settings back to your preferences).
    Here's a pre reset checklist:
    • Export your contacts to your SD card so you can easily restore them later (Contacts/Dialer menu > Import/Export > Export contacts to: SD card).
    • Make a list of all of the apps that you installed (Android menu > Manage Apps > Downloaded tab).
    • Get a copy of your Google account login info (user name and password).
    • Get a copy of your Verizon Backup Assistant PIN (if you use this service).
    • Turn off your phone and pull its battery. Wait 30 seconds or more and reinstall the battery and turn the phone back on. This will make sure that there is nothing hinky in your phone's volatile memory as the factory reset begins.
    • Fully charge your phone's battery and plug the AC charging adapter into the phone.
Now you're ready to do the deed. Follow these steps:
    1. If it's not already on, turn on Google's "back up my data" option with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Back up my data. This is required for the next step.
    2. Turn off the "automatic restore" option with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Automatic restore. This will prevent your phone from trying to download every paid app that was previously on your phone all at once. It is much better---especially if you have a lot of apps---to install them one at a time. Plus, you may not want some of them to be reinstalled right away if you are trying to determine if one of them is causing trouble under GB 2.3.3.
3 If you do not want to use Google's "back up my data" service to restore your wi-fi passwords and such, then return to Step 1 and turn it off.
    4. Begin the factory reset with Android menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset. You'll be asked to confirm that you really want to do a factory reset and you'll be given the opportunity to clear your micro SD memory card as a part of the process. I chose not to clear my memory card because I have a 32 GB card with "tons" of music and other files that I do not want to have to restore (it would take hours).
When should you do a factory reset? Everyone should do it before they give their phone away, sell it, or discard it. You don't want someone else to have access to your personal data! And, a factory reset can be a helpful troubleshooting tool when faced with problems.
By the way, my factory reset did not help the video problem I was having with the Fox News app nor did it enable Google's Music app to find all of the album art on my micro SD card. Both problems persisted after the reset under GB 2.3.3.
Finally, there are other things you can do to flush old data from your phone such as clearing the cache partition of your phone's built-in memory. This requires the use of its "Android system recover" menu. Even though I expect this cache data to be cleared during a factory reset, I did it after my reset just to make sure. Clearing the cache partition is usually what folks try before a factory rest so they can (hopefully) avoid the factory reset. I'll leave it to a Motorola staff person to go into that.

OK, got it ...  the Power ON Factory reset procedures might have changed with GB ...
To get to a Factory reset using the Power up method:
    1.  Power Off phone
    2. Press & Hold the HOME Button
    3. Press and Hold the Power ON button.
You come up to the Triangle with the Exclamation mark & android guy.
Press BOTH the Up and Down Buttons at the same time.  This brings up the Blue menu of options.
use the Up/Down arrows to scroll thru the choices. Press the POWER Button to Select the menu item you choose.
You can harmlessly test this and just choose to Reboot without doing anything, just to see how it works in case you ever need to do this in the future.
edit:  It was concluded in the test group that they changed this process to align it with the new DX2 as the camera button isn't hard-wired like it is in the DX. So likely they just wanted to make this process the same for both platforms.  At least it sounds like a good reason...

  • Help Please! iMac screen colours have gone crazy

Can someone please please help me to solve this problem? I was playing around with my new iMac screen settings. I made changes to the calibration colour settings. Now I notice that the colour has all gone to alpha, gamma range and is looking horrible. Can someone please help me to restore the factory settings for the display? Or suggest ways in which I can fix it please? That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Open System Preferences->Displays->Color and select "iMac". That should be the factory default settings, as when you run the calibrator the last thing it asks you is what you want to call your calibrated profile. The default name is "iMac Calibrated" which should be in that list too. If its not there and you overwrote the original, click the "Calibrate" button again and just click through it using the default choices it gives you. This will return the display to its default look.

  • Colour Settings

Hi, Help please withcolour settings. I am using Photoshop 7 on Windows XP, for manipulating and printing images from a Dell pc and monitor to a Canon Pixma inkjet. No web images or outside printers are needed. When Photoshop was first installed, without any adjustments to the colour settings ( I didn't even know what they were) the print colours were only slightly different from the display.
But I thought I could improve on that, and recently tried changing the settings. The print colours now have a dull washed out appearance no matter what combination of settings I use. I am now completely confused and wished I had left well alone! I don't think I need colour management for what I want to do. Are there factory presets or default settings for people like me? The settings for working spaces now are:
    RGB:  Adobe RGB
    CMYK:  Euroscale coated
    Gray: Gamma 2.2
    Spot:  Dot gain 20%
The images from the camera are embedded with sRGB and are managed to keep that profile. CMYK and Gray are off.
I have calibrated the monitor with Adobe by eye ( I am an artist used to working with colours)
I would be so grateful for any help.

  • How to change colour settings on Satellite Pro P300

I just got my new laptop and can't for the life of me find how to change the colour settings in the monitor.
On my old desktop there was a button on the monitor.
Being a first time laptop user im going nuts trying to find how to change my monitor settings...
If anyone can help id be so grateful

Please dont mix the notebooks internal monitor with the external desktop PC monitor.
You will not find any control unit like on the external monitor which would help you to change the color.
    I dont know what graphic chip your notebook uses but my notebook supports Intel graphic card and the preinstalled Intel graphic media accelerator (in control panel) provides some settings for color correction;
The settings are; color, gamma, brightness and contrast
There you can set the values between 0 and 100

I replaced the battery but the server keeps once or twice a day shutting down. I made a report from the ACU but i don't know what this all means.
Here is a part of the report, i hope someone can lead me to the right solution,

  • Photoshop CS5 - colour settings in Print menu not working after update Mac OSX maverick

After upgrading to Maverick OSX on the iMac printing from CS5 via Epson R3880 is not working correctly. In Print Settings menu the drop downs for Colour and Colour Settings are greyed out. I already re-installed PS and installed the new drivers from epson. Any ideas?

but after choosing PS manages color, the options in the print menu for choosing color (color or b&W) and color settings are not available anymore. They used to be the last three years I printed with photoshop/epson 3880.
Instead they are greyed out now.

If Photoshop managed color, then the controls in the printer driver are supposed to be grayed out - that's how Apple specifies drivers to work (because only one party should be managing the print color).
So what you're describing is perfectly normal.

  • Wide gamut monitors and prepping files for website

This question is for those who are colour management savvy and understand the issues with prepping sRGB profiled files for the web. I thought I was pretty good at this stuff, but found out I'm not as good as I thought....
Problem - prepping my images for my own website using a wide gamut monitor (NEC 2690 with SpectraView calibrating software).
Issue - when viewing said images after placing in website, on wide gamut monitor, reds are over saturated and colour not as it was in prepped file. My "other" monitor is a laptop screen (profiled, but still......). I do need to get an sRGB monitor  (the NEC "regular" 24" or an Apple), but funds are tight right now.
I'm pretty sure all my workflow is good - profiled monitor (gamma 2.2), colour settings in Photoshop (I change over to n. American web/internet work space when prepping files for web), converting files to sRGB etc.
It's when I go to Save For Web.
I am embedding the ICC profile (for Safari and Firefox users), but when previewing the image in the browser (Safari) the image is as described above - over saturated in the reds etc. It looks the same after load onto my website and viewing in colour managed browser (Safari and Firefox).
Is this simply an issue of the wide gamut monitor "stretching" the available sRGB numbers to fit the (almost) aRGB space on the monitor?
Or is this something to do with the Monitor RGB (or is that the same thing......)????
Or am I missing something else???
any explanation of what is happening from a colour management point of view - and how best to deal with it - would be greatly appreciated. Also any books/articles/threads.
    Thanks!
    Oh yes, I'm using CS3.

I'm using the Spider Pro to calibrate my monitor and everything looks great in Photoshop, Illustrator and Firefox 3.5 with color management turned on. But the lack of color management in Fireworks is still a problem because I'm not seeing the colors the way they will look on most people's monitors. I can't design unless I can see what most people will be seeing.
Fireworks should be using that ICC profile that my calibrator generated but instead its sending the colors to the monitor raw. This is what's causing the over-saturation. This really is quite unacceptable.

  • IMac monitor goes dark; 2nd monitor ok

I have a dual monitor setup on my iMac (2009) running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).  The iMac monitor had been working great, but now it goes to a black screen.  I am able to access it briefly (for about a second) by lightly pressing the power button on the back.  The iMac monitor flashes on briefly when I do this and I'm able to quickly click on user.  I used this same method to open Settings and drag it over to the 2nd monitor to change the display setting to Mirror mode, so I'd have access to the dock on the 2nd monitor (Dell 2007WFP).
I have tried the following so far:
         checked cables
restarted by powering off, pressing on/off button for 5 seconds, unplugging for 15 seconds.
         booted in Safe Mode
reset PRAM (I believe this was reset, but I don't know for sure because I couldn't see anything on the monitors.)
    Other information:
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
         8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
         NVIDIA GeForce 9400
Thank you in advance for help with this issue!

Replacing FBDIMMs would be today inexpensive and worth doing.
No one knows if heat is an issue without your using thermal sensor monitor. Probably want to up the default fan speeds while at it.
And because you don't have Lion+ then even more reason to setup a small maintenace volume on another drive with OS X basic system for repairs. In fact you should always have a bootable backup or two  you can rely on.
Restarting may work, or it  may be you have now new issue with corrupt fies or directory that a safe boot even is no guarantee of fixing.
When in doubt, try a clean new OS install on another drive.
    And FBDIMMs: $25 for a 2x2GB set on Amazon.com
You want to get  the most out of what  you have, a small investment  in RAM,  maybe recycle those drives for 2-4TB units. And an SSD will have system responding better and perform better.
My guess, the 5870 wasn't needed and was overkill and a 5770 for almost  half would have been more than adequate.

  • Colour Settings in CS4

    Hello,
I changed my Colour Settings in the Edit menu to 'Best Workflow CS4' which apparently synchronised my colour settings, but the printed colours are now muddy and have lost their vibrancy. It is a US orientated setting for US inks.  I am in the UK and use Ilford Smooth Pearl Paper with the appropriate colour profiles loaded.  What are the recommended colour settings for printing in the UK?? Is it Europress 2 which is what I'm now trying out??

You haven't provided enough information for us to judge how much you know about creating a color-managed workflow.  From what you've said, the issue could be anything from your monitor not being calibrated and profiled to a printer settings problem or even a driver bug.
Is it safe to say the root of your problem that the images you see on your screen don't match the images you see on the paper?  If so, please start by describing what steps have you taken to ensure the images you see on your screen are accurate.
Also, it would be good to describe your workflow, i.e., how you get images into Photoshop, what profiles you use, etc.  Be as specific as you can.
Color-management can be a difficult topic and color-management problems can't always be solved in forum threads.  If it's important to you to be able to predict the color of your prints accurately - and it sounds like it is or you wouldn't be here - you will need to take some time to read up on color-management.  You ABSOLUTELY cannot just "set some stuff" and forget about color-management.  In order to get it right you have to get your mind around how it works.  I'm not trying to scare you, nor to say that you don't already know how it works - I'm just trying to help you avoid some frustration.
