Factory restore and Pages...

I want to perform a factory reset on my iPad and then restore from my last iTunes backup. But I'm worried about the 100+ documents I've created in my Pages app.
Does a regular iTunes sync save all my Pages docs to my iTunes Backup? Or do I have to manually save them all via email, iWork, iDisk, or filesharing?
If there's a way to save all 100+ files to my MacBook pro drive all at once (rather than one by one) I'd love to know how.
Thanks in advance!

HI Enio,
Hopefully someone will correct me on this but at the moment the only way I can see to save your documents is via e-mail, share on iWork, send to iTunes, copy to iDisk, or copy to WebDAV one at a time.
It would be nice for Apple to add a "Save All" to the dialog window in the My Documents view.
When you sync your iPad, select the Apps tab. Under "Pages Documents" you can "Save to" or "Add" a document from your computer.

  • I just installed ios8 on my ipad. its is now asking me to rerstore my ipad on itunes to a factory restore and that all my data and photos will be lost. how can I reverse this?

I just installed the new IOS 8 . My I pad is now asking me to plug into ITunes . Once I plugged into ITunes I get a message to restore to it's factory settings.
will I lose all my data. photographs etc

You can do a factory restore and then restore from a backup after you've upgraded.  I just did this with my mom's iPad, but you had to have either an iTunes backup or iCloud backup to do the restore.  If you don't have the backup, could be that a lot of your apps and music are still available, but your settings are lost.  Your most recent 1000 pics or so would still be in photostream, so you'd want to rescue them back to your recent pictures folder.  Your mail, contacts, reminders, notes, are all already probably in icloud or another cloud provider for those services, just need to reenter your login information.  If you do secure backups, a lot of the setup is restored, without backup, you'd need to log back in to those services like twitter, facebook, etc to see your info there.

I never had this problem, but just noticed it happening.. Please note it's a BUG. I went out and bought a 128GB  iPhone just to hold all my songs. It wouldn't work. This never happened with the iPhone 3/3s/4/5/5s but started happening with the iPhone 6. After 40 hours of working through all possible solutions on the web and with Apple cares support (supposedly senior level) They finally suggested what the problem was. I had "Convert higher bit songs to 128  aac" Checked. This does not work One more thing when I unchecked that, the sync took like 3.5 hours instead of the 9-12 hours is usually took even on the smaller iphones. I have 98.7GB of music. Before I was just syncing a list of specific songs.
The syncing seems to be random when it has the problem though.

  • Do i need to back up all my data on my iphone 4 before i do a factory restore and how do i get all my contact and data back?

If i do a factory restore will i be able to retreive back all my music, photos, text messages and contacts or will it wipe them for good?

Restoring the phone wipes is clean as part of the process.  You should read the User Manual to make sure you are using your phone properly so all your data is safe before the restore process.

  • I accidentally used factory restored and all my files were wiped. How can I get my files back?

My computer kept turning off by itself, so I tried to stop it, and I eventually went as far as to do a factory reset. But I was unaware if what I was doing. Can someone please help me? Or can you tell me how to set my computer back by a week?

In all respects it's adequate. The warning is stated, and it implores users to backup their files.  Sorry you lost your data, but by discussing it openly, maybe someone else will learn a valuable lesson.

  • If I preformed a factory restore, and didn't restore from time machine, how can I access my files that were backed up?

I wiped my Mid 2009 MBP and decided not to restore from time machine backups but now I need access to a few of the files from the pervious backup, how do I access those files? The previous backups are purple and inaccessible from the time machine window.
Details: I use a G Drive to do my Time Machine backups.

While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.

  • My 5s freezes and restarts. I have already done a factory restore and its still happening. Any advice?

II've restored my phone and it is still crashing.

Try restoring it without using the backup afterwards, if still not luck, get it checked by Apple:

  • I need to factory restore my iPhone and set up as new device...

I need to factory restore my iPhone and set up as new device... If I back up the device, but set it up as a new iPhone, will I be able to get all of my data, apps, music, notes, texts and settings back? (ditto with TeamLava game data??)
I need 100% confirmation as I'm worried I'll lose both some important app and data on their, as well as some hard-earned game time on a few apps!!
(The reason I need to restore and set up fresh - I set this iPhone up from a back years ago which pulled through an encrypted local backup password that I don't remember setting and no password I can think of will turn it off. I have been told the only way around this is to factory restore and set up as a new iPhone)
Many thanks in advance for any and all advice. I welcome your Apple expertise!

    Stupid Apple! Thanks though.
Can you confirm what I will and will not be able to get back? (Bare in mind I also have an iPad that syncs things like Notes.)
Contacts - can back up to Orange App
Music - I mainly use Spotify anyway
    Text Messages?
    Safari bookmarks?
Previously purchased Apps? (or will I just have to re-download them?)
The data on these apps? (I guess most will either be simply logging in, or re-setting up)
    Storm8/TeamLava Game progress?
Again, thanks in advance for your help.

  • Factory Restore Fails on my p6754y at same percentage of completion

I have tried the internal repair and it failed several times, After that, I tried the internal Facrory recovery several times with faiures as well.  I then used the Recovery Disks created by the system when I first started using it.  Are the repeated failures of both the internal and external recovery programs a sign that the Hard drive is the problem?  I can say that the factory recoveries attempted by the Recovery Disks failed at the same percentage.  I am not sure about the earlier attempts because I was not then tracking that information.
Also, if I replace the HD with a new one,  can I use the system generated factroy restore program.  Will this restore the 2 hidden directores, blocks or whatever the correct term is for the factory restore and system recovery areas as they existed when the DVD's were made by the system?

    Hi, John:
See if there is a hard drive diagnostics test in the BIOS. If there is, run that and see what it reports.
If you have to or decide to replace the hard drive, then you could try the recovery disks you made on that.
If they don't work, then you will need to purchase a set from HP by clicking on the link below and click on the link labeled Order Recovery Media.

Another thing you can try is to make your own plain W7 installation disk and use the W7 product key on your PC's case to activate the installation.
Here are the instructions and link to the W7 ISO downloads.
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Or use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link  below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
    http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Apple TV 1st gen Factory Restore Problems

I have an Apple TV 1st generation that I tried to do a factory restore on.  I did not unplug durring the progress bar.  It then started up with the apple, then the opening video with all the tv screens.  It asked me for the language, I selected English, then had me choose the correct internet connection so I typed in the password for our Wi-Fi, then it came up with the code to connect to our home computer and started flashing a new code every 2 seconds.  I unplugged the Apple TV and waited about a minute then plugged back in.  It again had the normal start up, but then after the opening video it began flashing between a screen with the apple then a blank black screen then to a menu screen and cycling through each screen about every 1-2 seconds.  I unplugged again and waited about 10 minutes but then had the same results.  Is there anyway I can do another system restore as I cant get it to stop flashing.

I FIXED IT!!!  So here is how to fix your Apple TV 1st generation if you are having the problems listed above.  I am listing it step by step as I have not found the solution to my problem ANYWHERE and I have been looking all day and figured it out myself.  Here we go:
If you have done a FACTORY RESTORE and it is now flashing different through different screens I recomend doing a FORCED RESTART from the totally awesome guys at MethodShop, here is the link: http://methodshop.com/gadgets/tutorials/appletv-fix/
If their instructions do not fix your problem here is what I figured out (assuming the diagonstic test says that your Apple TV is working correctly).
Keep your Apple TV plugged in, and allow it to go to sleep.  It can take up to 45 minutes.  Once it has gone to sleep (the screen will have photos scrolling on the TV) press the MENU button on the remote to wake it up.  The Apple TV will wake up on the MENU screen.  Scroll down to SETTINGS then select SYSTEM UPDATE.  Follow all instructions to update the system to the current update.
WARNING: If you take too long once you have woken up the Apple TV it will start freaking out again and you will have to let it go to sleep again.
I have tried this twice now to make sure the first time was not a fluke and its working perfect now.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • 15GB of 'other' data on iPhone even after iTunes factory restore...

    Hi,
Does anybody have a solid idea how to reduce the 'other' data on the iphone?
I have just under 15gb of 'other' data on my phone which I think could explain the slow operation when using it.
I've done a factory restore and it reduced the 'other' by 0.3gb. Not really worth the waiting around.
    Any advice is most welcomed.
    Thanks,
    Chris

If it is any condolances, i have similar issues, The only thing that worked was factory reset...and start fresh from the beginning.... If you are lucky enough to get rid if the "garbage" aka "other" memory

  • My ipad 2 won't activate after a factory restore

i backed up my ipad 2 to icloud and did a factory restore and now when i go to set it up it says it can't activate because the activation server is temporarily unavailable, i tried connecting to itunes and got the same messge..any help would be great!

    Hi, swishmish.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to activate your iPad after a restore.  I have attached the best troubleshooting article to go through.  This article is labeled for an iPhone, but the steps still apply.
    Restart the iPhone.
Try to reach the activation server another way, then try to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you can't activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you can't activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
Check the system status for iOS Device Activation. If the iOS Device Activation status isn't green, try activating your iPhone later.
If you receive an alert message when you try to activate your iPhone, place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you still can't complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

  • Factory Restore successful, but cannot update software again

My Apple TV froze while disconnecting from Itunes. It is one of the first versions of Apple TV..only 32 GB. The only way I could solve the problem was to do a Factory Restore. This worked, but when I tried to update software, it is not working properly. It only allows me to update software one time even though I have updated it 4 or 5 times since we purchased it. The screen turned a bright purple and we cannot rent or buy anything from the Apple TV directly. Even if we stream content from the computer, the images are muted and the wrong colors.
Is there any way that I can install all of the updates separately? Please advise.
    Thank you!

    Chenks wrote:
try another factory restore and confirm that the network is running all ok before attempting the update (ie test movie trailers etc).
    Yes - that sounds best.
You could also try running diagnostics before doing the reset (hold menu and down on remote to reboot to disagniostics which also has factory restore in the menu).
