Factory Setup wanted ProBook 4525s

Hello, I am unhappy with the disorganized mess of my pc and would like to return to my factory setup and programs. I've tried the recovery option but it tells me there's no image to recover. Restore points do not help either. I purchased this pc notebook last Jan and it did not arrive with any cd's for re-install......bought straight from HP by me. I have no idea how to accomplish this without a cd nor how to get needed items.
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

  • HP Probook 4525s Startup Problem

Hello, I've had my HP Probook 4525s for about a year now. For the past month, it has been randomly freezing forcing me to turn it off without properly shutting it down. Eventually, my HP prompted me to restore my hard drive. After assuring all files I needed were properly backed up, I restored my hard drive to its default factory state. My HP restarted itself and began setup, but there's a problem. It says "setup is preparing your computer for first use" and an error repeatedly comes up saying "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I've clicked okay and it restarts, but then it brings me once again to the same screen with the same error. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi, There are a couple of options I'd suggest. 1.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - using these to reinstall the OS, will also re-create the Recovery Partition. Order HP Recovery Discs. 2.  Assuming this is just a problem with the Recovery Partition, here's an alternative option you could try. Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ). An example of a COA Label can be seen Here. You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the exact same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available. Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations. http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found starting Here. Regards, DP-K

    Hello RadimHerman ,
HP ProBook 4525s supports a max memory (RAM) of 8GB. It has 2 sockets for memory and each socket can hold upto 4GB. You can go with the following memory- "4GB DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 204Pin SODIMM".
You can find the memory either in crucial or memorystock. Good Luck with the upgrade.
If you have your laptop under warranty then you can service it from the nearest HP authorized service centres or you can contact HP.

  • Installing Elements 11 on Mac. Need help with install error "Setup wants to make changes."

Installing Elements 11 on Mac 10.8.2. Need help with install error:  Setup wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."  After entering Adobe password, nothing happens.  Locked from further installation.  Any ideas?  Adobe phone support could not help.

Just before letting changes (installation in this case) be made on the system, Mac OS prompts for password & this has to be the Mac system password. This password prompt is the system's own native prompt & would accept the system password only. Please make sure it is the right system password (all/admin rights) and the installaion should run.

  • Webcamera in HP Probook 4525s

The webcamera in my HP laptop is not visible in Skype, neither in Device Manager, BUT I can see an 'unknown device' in there, to which I (via 'browse the computer and windows update for drivers') cannot install drivers. I also tried to install HP webcam drivers, to no avail since it kept telling me that it didn't detect a camera.
I'm 100% sure that my laptop has a webcam since I can see the camera lense on the top of the laptop screen.
    What do I do?

  • How do I permanently disable the touchpad on Probook 4525s?

How do I permanently disable the touchpad on Probook 4525s?  I can uninstall the driver in Control Panel, but on the next boot, it's back on again.  I use a usb mouse and the touchpad is simply in the way when I'm typing.
    This question was solved.

    Hi PoohBear!
There are a couple of options depending on your OS and your TouchPad version.
The very best option, should it be available to you is the following:
Newer Drivers (at least the V16.x) have the ability to turn off the TouchPad / Click pad with a setting on the main "Settings" page when a USB mouse is being used.  This is a very nice feature.
Control Panel > icon view > Mouse > TouchPad [ClickPad] Settings >
CHECK "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached"
If you would like to be notified and see a visual cue of the disablement >
CHECK "Animated tray icon in Taskbar" >
and make sure you have your Taskbar notifications set so you can actually see the Mouse notice.
    =====================================================
Here is a 16.2.X TouchPad driver for the ProBook series - It may work on your notebook:
    sp58647 Synpatics V.16.2.10.12
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
An Alternate method that may work with an older driver should the better option not be available:
Control Panel > icon view > Mouse > TouchPad [ClickPad] Settings >
(repeat) TouchPad Settings (button) > Click-on Tapping >
    Click on Spikey Blue Wheel
    At "TouchPad Disable Zone Settings"
CHECK "Double Tap to Enable / Disable TouchPad"
    At "Top Left Action"
    CHECK "Switch the TouchPad OFF"
    Close
     OK
NOTE If this alternate option is available, it is fine, unless something goes awry.  You could get stuck without your USB mouse AND without a means to get back into the setting to switch on the TouchPad.  I do not know whether I would use this setting.
    ===================================================================================
    I hope this helps!
    Kind Regards,

  • Screen: "Setup wants to make changes."

During install of Elements 12 from box set DVD, the DVD will download to my Apple laptop And allows me to progress through registration etc. until it comes time for the actual install.  When I click the Insall button on the Install screen, I get a window that says, "Setup wants to make changes.  Type your password to allow this."  There is a box for Name: and a box for Password: I have tried my Adobe username, my email address and anything else anyone has called me in my life in the Name: box and I have tried my Adobe password, my Apple password, etc.  NOTHING works when I click the OK button.  What am I supposed to put in these two boxes, and if I already entered  the correct info, what is wrong???

This may just be a keychain issue:
    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.
The above comes from an article published on MacFixit.com.

  • Network Setup wants to make changes...

My MacBook keeps bringing up a dialog box with:
"Network Setup wants to make changes. Please type in your password..." etc
Why is my computer trying to make changes? What does it have to do with the network (Airport is turned off. I'm only coneected to wireless internet). Why is it so persisitant?
    Its really annoying me.

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account to see if you can install it there.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • "setup wants to make changes" keeps popping up stopping installation from starting

    Hi there,
having trouble installing a trial of Adobe Premiere, every time i try to start the installation a security popup window appears saying:
"Setup wants to make changes. type your password to allow this"
i enter my password, box goes away, then reappears.
Im definitely entering password correctly as it says i don't if i don't!
my account is Admin, have tried the other account on the mac, have tried creating a new account, tried numerous restarts, tried downloading a different trial.
    Same problem!!!
please help as i can find nothing in my searches... which suggests this isn't a common problem i was expecting it to be!
    Thanks

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with.
