Factory Unlocked GSM iPhone 5 SAYS NO SERVICE !

This is extremely depressing.I was in the US recently ,I purchased a FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone 5 for 700 Dollars.I used it with a 50 dollar AT&T Sim Card for about a month.I'm back to my home country now (Pakistan).When I inserted a Nano-Sim from a local carrier the iPhone lost the signal and now says No-Service. This is just frustrating and horrible ,I feel Crying !
1-I checked the IMEI from various sites confirming the Factory Unlock.
2-I checked the receipt that Apple gave me which also SAYS THAT it is Unlocked
3-I restarted the Phone
4-Reset all settings and tried to activate it again with this local sim.It activated FINE but still No service.Turned Air-plane mode on and off but nothing.
5-I used the "manual search" option in carriers and it shows my carrier "ufone" but IT STILL GIVES NO SERVICE WHEN I SELECT the carrier.
6-I'm really depressed as I cannot go back to the US and take it to an Apple store.This is just terrible.
7-I'm on iOS 6.0.1.
8-PLEASE HELP.

Hi Irtaza, Have you resolved the issue with ufone - iphone 5 for No Service?
If it is fixed please tell me how you did that?

Unfortunately, AT&T does not provide unlocking.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Remove and reinsert the SIM.
Replace the SIM.
Contact the carrier to troubleshoot the issue.

Contact the carrier it is locked to. Assuming it is locked to AT&T, and you are/were actually an AT&T customer who either fulfilled your contract or paid the early termination fee (or purchase a no commitment phone), then you can have it unlocked.
If you are/were not an AT&T customer, they will not unlock it. The phone is useless to you. Sell it and buy one in the UK.
If it is a Verizon or Sprint phone, just sell it. You can't use it at all. Those are CDMA phones and will not work on a GSM network.

"Factory unlock" would mean that the iPhone would have come from Apple unlocked. You mean "officially unlocked", meaning the unlocking has been approved by the carrier. Here are AT&T's official requirements for unlocking an iPhone:

ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Most have restrictions in that you must be a current customer and have maintained service for a minimum period of time. Do yourself a favor, sell it and purchase a phone in India instead.

Sorry, downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple, thus there is no official way to do so. Your phone was re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to because you hacked it to unlock it. Apple's servers detected such & re-locked your phone. You need to contact the carrier your phone is locked to if you want to get it officially unlocked.

It is unfair to the consumer, and frankly turning away customers like myself willing to pay high dollar to Apple for their product, who can I speak with to complain about this, because I know their are factory unlocked iPhone 4S' sitting in a warehouse somewhere just waiting to be shipped, and I want one. I know why, cause Apple signed contracts with each carrier so the carrier could increase their sales making customers sign 2 year contracts, I get it, I own my own business, but the delay of releasing factory unlocked ones is just not right and I should be able to buy one without having to buy it over in the UK where it is unlocked when it comes out right away, I should be able to buy it in my own country! These business practices we practice in the US need to stop, their is a demand that needs to be met with consumers like myself who don't need subsidized iPhone's with 2 year contracts with carriers and don't mine paying full price for an unlocked one, it is unethical in a sense, forcing the customer to buy it with a carrier contract and NOT giving the customer the option to buy it full price and own it themselves, OR, making the consumer wait a month for that option to be available. THEY SHOULD BE RELEASED AT THE SAME TIME!!!!!! THAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!!!!!
Apple can contact me and I will proudly pay for one. But making me wait a month for an unlocked one, puts AT&T, Sprint & Verizon's interests before mine, and that is not right, for it is MY money that keeps you guys in business, so my best interests should come first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand your frustration, but when any form of rationing is required you have to prioritise. The number of unlocked vs packaged phones will be quite small and the number of unlocked buyers wishing to upgrade immediately will be smaller still. Against this you have the corporations sharing $billions between them.
It would, you're correct, have been fairer to release all at the same time, but fairer doesn't come into it: it's business.

iPhones do not have an international warranty. Warranty is valid only for the country of purchase. This is most likely because different countries require different iPhone models. Not reasonable to expect all countries to maintain stock for all models.
