Factory Unlocked Issue

I have a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 16gb, that I have been using on T-Mobile.
I had the following issue on Saturday
I had about 60% left on my phone, I was texting when all the sudden my screen went completly white, then I tried the power button and it changed to black. And now I try to plug it into my computer it doesn't recognzie it. I have tried to get it into DFU mode by holding the power and home button for 10 seconds and releasing the power button then iTunes will recognize it.
When I plug it in this is what iTunes reads.
Name: iPhone
Capacity: n/a
Software Version: n/a
Serial Number: n/a
When I try to restore it I get error 1601, I have tried it on my mac, my friends mac, and my friends PC and nothing is a go.
It isn't jail broken, I am lost and condused with this beautiful paper weight right now.

The fact that iTunes can't read the serial number is a very bad sign.
You take big risks when buying gray market phones.  If you can't restore it using DFU mode, the only thing we can really suggest is to make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for Apple to have a look at.

  • Date Time issue factory unlocked iphone 4s

I have a factory unlocked iphone 4s bought in Apple store US and currently in India. In Settings -> General -> Date & Time, I am setting "on" Set Automatically. After some time say 2-3 hours, the time automatically moves back by 30 minutes. In India there is no daylight savings. I am forced to set "off" for the "Set Automatically" option and then choose the timezone, time to keep it to the correct time. Anyone facing this issue ? By setting it to "Set Automatically" on, my understanding is it should sync with the mobile provider ("Airtel"). Is this a bug in iOS ?

i have same problem i also went to apple store but the can not find any problem i don't know what to do ?
    i hop it's just a sofware problem

  • Factory Unlocked or not - and the way forward..

Okay, so a few weeks ago I bought two iPhone 5’s while on vacation in Dubai. We moved to the middle east earlier this year and I was aware of certain phones not having facetime on them and all that, so anyway, went to a store and the guy said they were factory unlocked iphone 5’s. Paid the man, went home.
Yes I should have bought them from the official Apple store and all that but hear me out. This is where my doubts about one of the phone’s being “official factory unlocked” stem from.. The black one, mine, is probably factory unlocked as I can see the cellular data settings and everything. In the white one, my wife’s phone, I can’t see the cellular data settings, and so had to Google the alternative way of setting up the APN, etc. Did it through a website that does it for you, and voila! Data was working just fine for her as well. (btw just to add, her phone says LTE on/off mine says 3G on/off – we live in Bahrain and there’s no 4G for iPhone here anyway as the networks don’t support it).
My question here now is.. with iOS 7 coming out – will we (more importantly, SHE) be able to upgrade to iOS 7 without having any issues? And more importantly, if the cellular data settings are still blocked, will websites such as unlockit help me get APN settings on iOS7 – or is this affected by which version of iOS you’re using etc.
These are our first iPhones, and we’re loving them – we could well go and try to get her phone changed because a friend knows the store’s owner. But if there won’t be anything to worry about in the future, should we just chill? It will be a mini-headache sending it through courier and asking him to either give us the money or give us a factory unlocked phone or whatever. In either case, when the hew iPhone comes out we will definitely be pre-ordering and getting it delivered to our London address.
Any help would be appreciated guys!
Expert advice needed please. Thank you for your time!

Wouldn't have said it if not true
There is no Apple presence in Bahrain for iPhones ,support is carrier based
    UK number is
    (44) 0844 209 0611
    or maybe 020 8433 4600 ( thanks to saynoto0870 )
if that helps they may well tell you

  • My USA purchased iPhone 4S factory unlock is not working in India as it gets no signal bars

    Hi,
I got my iPhone 4S from USA, which came with AT&T sim in it. It was sold as factory unlocked but when I inserted Indian sim card in it , there appeared the name of the service provider but no signals.
Can anybody help as what best can be done to resolve this issue.
    Please help. !

You do not have an unlocked iPhone 4S. Those have not yet been released in the US, and will never be available from AT&T. You may have an iPhone purchased without a contract, but it is locked to AT&T, who do not unlock iPhones at any time for any reason. Return the iPhone to the place you purchased it and get your money back, since you will not be able to use that iPhone with an Indian carrier. I'd suggest you wait until the iPhone 4S is released in India rather than purchase from another country, since the warranty on the iPhone is valid only in the country of original sale.
    Regards.

  • How do I get a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS out of (connect to iTunes) mode?

How do I get a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS out of recovery (connect to itunes) mode?
Once the iPhone 3GS is in DFU mode and plugged into iTunes, the restore and update process begins. The restores process are as followed:
Extracting software > Preparing iPhone for restore (blank screen) > Preparing iPhone software for restore > Restoring iPhone software > Verifying iPhone restore > Restoring iPhone firmware > The iPhone cannot be restored. An unknown error occurred (1).
I clicked on the more information tab and was taken to a website with some troubleshooting. I did what they suggested (based on the error #) and still no luck. I’ve tried to restore and update about 10 times now but the same message keeps coming up at the end. What should I do now?
P.S: I have the latest version of iTunes (11), my windows is up to date etc ...

  • Factory unlocked iPhone 5 having problems sending/receiving sms

    Hello,
I recently bought a factory unlocked iPhone 5 from the apple store in the US and I am unable to send/receive any sms/texts using my mobile provider B&YOU located in France.
Can anyone help with ways to solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Suligadal

    Hello Sk8Dreams,
Thanks for your questions and quick feedback. Yes I turned on SMS & MMS in my settings and yes my plan includes SMS & MMS. I tried something I saw in the forum concerning enabling the "show subject field" and for some strange reason, I am able to send messages after trying this. Seems strange, I am going to disable this "show subject field" and see if it will work or not. SMS should work regardless of if this option is active shouldn't it?
    Thanks

  • Factory unlocked iphone 5 turns out to be locked

My aunt bought a factory unlocked iPhone 5 from London apple store at full price 530pounds. When I insert the nano sim in it, it says no service. So I went to IMEI.info and typed its imei. The status showed that my iphone is locked. What should I do now?

My understanding is that UK carriers will only authorize unlocking if you are a current customer.
Unlocking is accomplished by them submitting a request to Apple, and once processed, you restore the phone using iTunes on your computer.
You'll have to contact the carrier it's locked to to find out their specific requirements. There may be an additional fee.
IF the receipt from Apple says that it was sold as unlocked, Apple Care should be able to resolve the issue for you without a charge.

  • Factory Unlocked iPhone 3G giving "No Signal" woes

My iPhone 3G is from Italy - factory unlocked. Confirmed by iTunes when doing a restore.
Any UK SIM (o2, Vodafone and Orange) I put in the phone shows "No Signal" unless I am right underneath a tower. BUT, if I put my Malaysian SIM in the phone and run roaming with Maxis I get 4-5 bars everywhere - get that!?
Is it a SIM thing - i.e. different technlogy of SIM cards ? I notice the Malaysian SIM has a smaller active area than the UK SIMs.
Or is my IMEI or ICCID profile somehow blocked b he phone or the phone limiting the juice to he antenna for some reason with a UK SIM.
    Running 2.2.1 and 2.30.03
Any advice or next steps I have run out of options.
many thanks to those that can contribute.

    Allan
Your advice is about all I can think of doing. I have a friend in Milan that the phone can be sent back to. I have a funny feeling that when I get the phone back I'll have the same issues.....
I can get a antenna replaced here in the UK for about GBP60....but that would invalidate the warranty.
What is a lingering doubt over it being a hardware issue is why would it work perfectly with one contry's SIM and not anothers ?

  • No service after iPhone 3GS Factory Unlock. (This phone has NOT been jailbroken)

    Hi
I would be greatful of any advice for my problem. I have bought an iPhone 3GS from my friend who had it locked to O2. She has had it since new and never jailbroken it.
I have just got it factory unlocked and also have not jalibroken the phone. When I restored the phone I got the congratulatory message on iTunes, and it shows the correct phone number for the SIM I want to use and the carrier listed in Settings>General>About is now correct too.
I am now receiving no signal whatsoever. I have tried restoring network settings, restoring the whole phone again, toggling airplane mode, removing the sim and reinserting when off/ on etc and nothing is changing. Whenever I put my SIM my old phone, it's picking up signal absolutely fine.
If anyone has any other advice, I would be very grateful.
    Thank you.

If the Unlock was NOT done through O2...  then that would be the cause of your issue.

  • Is there any problem in upgrading my factory unlocked iphone 4 to ios 5...I have found there is problem in sim card verification

i have factory unlocked iphone4 ios 4.3.3 current..I want to upgrade to ios 5 but i have read some forums that there is problem for unofficial carriers
    any suggestions please

Hey I had that issue when I tried upgrading my phone.  After I got to the sim card verification page it said that your sim is not valid please insert a valid sim card.  I took it to the Apple Store, where they were able to determine that because I had previously received a replacement phone, the Serial Number was not entered correctly and my phone was actually locked to a different network than mine.  They replace the phone and sim card, locking it to my network in store and then I upgraded to iOS 5 right in store.  This time it went smoothly and only took about 10 mins.
    Hope this helps!!
