Fade and automation with omf

Hi.
Is there a way to get the fade and automation to export with an omf, instead of having to use export all regions as audio tracks.
Thanks
Antony

Doesn't work as far as i know. maybe fcp audio fades will work, but probably not. Logics OMF/AAF import is pretty loosly hacked together. I often run an AAF import through Protools then re-export for Logic.

  • Working with midi data and automation data, assigning parameters

I have a midi file with CC data in it. Controller 7 (volume) Controller 1 (mod) On page 600 the manual explains converting midi controller data to automation and vice-versa. I don't see any info on how to manage what CC data is mapped to what automation though. When I convert this midi file, I just get volume automation. Volume automation is just automatically there when you display automation, so I'm guessing that might have something to do with it. The problem is, I have CC1 data (and will be bringing in midi files that have data on many other CC#'s in the future) and I don't see how to map it to the parameters of plug-ins. I'd like to bring in midi files with information on any CC# I wanted, and then map that to any parameter of any plug-in I wanted. I couldn't figure out how to do this with the automation conversion process though.
This issue led me to another question (sorry). Since I wasn't getting this to work I decided to try something else. I thought I'd try opening the controller assignments (command K) window and just assigning the CC data to control parameters that way. So I use my midi hardware controller to set a parameter to be controlled by CC#1. This works fine, and I can control the parameter with my midi controller. When I press play however, hoping that the CC#1 data in the midi file I imported will control this parameter, it doesn't seem to do it.
If someone to help me I would appreciate it very much, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just missing something in one of the manuals, but I have not worked this way with Logic very much, I've just always used it's automation system and haven't ventured into dealing with CC data. Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to explain clearly (hope I have)

First you cross too many questions, that's why I will try to answer one by one when have time cause they need some graphics etc.
As a beginnings have a look at this forum [LINK|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10612612&#10612612], where I show several scenarios how to manage CC7 and CC10 in the environment. It is real time processing. You can do some post processing using the Transform Window as well. Hope to have time to show you some Transform Mappers.
In addition it is possible to Map any CC# to any Plugin parameter in the Environment using transformer Mapper object ( realtime ), or using the Transform Window as well. ( If I have time later this evening will make same examples...

This is possible as well but using some Environment tricks with IAC port, a dummy "Learn" fader and probably condition transformer ( I have show many times such schemes but do not have time to search right now - hope to have time to make new one according your scenario ).
Will come back soon with more info and schemes...

  • FCE & FCP compatibility with OMF files and Pro Tools

I am using Final Cut Express 3.5 and want to edit a future project on it for a friend. When I am finished with the project, I was wanting to export the audio as an OMF file so that it can be mixed in Pro Tools. However, I just realized that Final Cut Express 3.5 does not support OMF exporting.
I am trying to work around this problem and I just need some verification that my idea will work. This is my idea: Will it work if I take my finished FCE project and open it on a friend's computer that has Final Cut Pro and create an OMF file through FCP?
If so, after mixing in Pro Tools, will I be able to import the mixed audio back into my FCE (or worst case scenario, my friend's FCP) and be able to burn the movie to DVD?

    1. Depends on the FCP version they're using. FCP5.1 or later will work.
    2. Yes.

  • Logic and pro tools transfer  with OMF or AAF

    Hi
has anybody experience with the transfer from Pro Tools 6.9 session
into LOGIC 7.1 and back to PT via OMF or AAF ??
    I need to know
if this is really working now
and what about the tdm/rtas plug ins and delay-compensation???
    would be nice
if somebody has some infos about this
before i buy the digitranslator from digidesign
    thanks
    chris

IMO it's not worth the money to transfer OMF
with Digitranslator. To consolidate is free and
there is no hassle with OMF. My experience with
Digitranslator Demo (v. 6.3) was quite frustrating,
the newer versions I didn't test.
From the Logic side I wanted to do an OMF transfer
from Cubase SX 3 to Logic Pro 7.1 and Logic refused
with an error to import the OMF file. Cubase had no problems
with his own OMFs, but Logic had.
So may be I did something wrong, but I had no time
to check out the different OMF formats.
    Anyway, I continue to consolidate.

  • How can I use wget, cron and Automator to periodically pull a dynamic image from a URL to local storage, and then update a Keynote slide with that image, automatically?

How can I use wget, cron and Automator to periodically pull an image from a URL (which is dynamically updated - like a weather map, say - to local storage, and then update a Keynote slide with that image, automatically?

Any particular reason for those specific technologies?  wget does not exist on a mac, although you can nstall it I guess.  OS X has curl installed which should do pretty much anything you want to do with wget.  cron is being replaced by launchd, although cron still exists on mountain lion.
As far as I can tell from automator all the standard 'actions' to access keynote  available to it require keynote to be open and running, but does not provide a function to actually open it.  So I think you will have to write some applescript, as a minimum to open and quit keynote. I notice that the keynote actions are mostly circa 2005 an wonder if they would even work.
Under utilities in automator 'actions' there is a capability to add applescripts as part of the workflow.
Also, note that cron is being dprecated by Apple and replaced by launchd.  that said cron is stil on my mountain lion instalation.
This entry at stackoverflow shows use of cron with curl to get web urls.  http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1683620/getting-started-with-cronjobs-on-a-ma c
If I have any time I may try and get this to work as it is quite interesting and new to me.  But otherwise, good luck.

  • Problems with Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)

    Hello LabVIEWers,
I have been having a serious problem getting MAX to start and to remain stable. Here are the specifics:I am running LabVIEW 8.5 Full Development System on a Dell PC with 1GB of RAM and plenty of hard drive space. The OS is XP Pro and I also have McAfee Enterprise Virus Scan software.  MAX will start-up and appear to run for a few minutes and then the software bombs out. I get a "Measurement and Automation Explorer has encountered a problem and has to close" pop-up message. To fix the problem, I have uninstalled all NI software using MSI Blast. I have wiped the registry clean of NI keys as per instructions in previous posts. I have deleted any remaining NI software on teh hard drive including C:\program files\national instruments and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments. I have then restarted the machine and did a complete fresh install from CD's, DVD's, and the harddrive (CD's written to hardrive and DVD written to harddrive first). I installed first the LabVIEW and then I installed the Device Drivers. I restarted the machine between installs. I have even installed the updated NIDAQ 8.6. After which I set protections on the NI directories to read/write. Ok, basically I have done all these things numerous times and I still cannot get things to work correctly.
I was able to get into MAX for a little while (it is somewhat stable immediately after a fresh reinstall). I defined 4 Simulated DAQmx devices and none of them acted like they were simulated. I received various errors saying that the device was not found or could not be started. So I basically could not run my software with the simulated devices. LabVIEW sometimes seems to work ok but just now, I got a "Error loading nidmm_32.dll, initialization routine failed" error. I also get the same error for nilvaiu.dll. Both of these DLLs are in the C:\Program Files\IVI\Bin and  c:\windows\system32 directories respectively and prior to the last time I started the software, all worked ok with LabVIEW.
Is my computer failing? Are there any other options to getting this installed without probems?
    Please help.

  • Midi data and Automation

    Hello
I would like to know if it is possible to save MIDI data with Automation commands? Also I would like to be able to draw automation without this happening. Lets say I want to automate a filter on ES2. The filter line is at 100. I want to go from 100 to 300 without  the 100 moving to 150 then having a hard time trying to get it back to 100. I would like to be able to click to start drawing and it stays at 100. If I have explained it so you understand can someone help me please.

  • Bugs, or omissions?  (screensets: marker tab, and automation  tracks)

Before I go sending a report to apple, I wanted to check here first, and see if I've overlooked something.
    1. I've set up a screenset, that has the marker tab open. I also have the view text button enabled (so that my first marker can be notes about the project). Id like to hit the screenset, click the marker, and see the text, but the screenset is not remembering to keep the view text button enabled. It defaults back to just the marker list.
    2. This is a 2 part question.
    a. Logic is not remembering my track automation sub track set ups, when I turn on and off view automation. (lets say I want 2 sub tracks, with cut off and resonance. I set it up, but when I disable automation, and turn it back on, the sub tracks are not there, and I have to hit the subtrack triangles again.
    b. related. to try and get around this problem, I made 2 screen sets. one that has the arrange with no track automation (and no subtrack), and one that has the arrange with track automation (and all the sub channels displayed). however, when you go back to the 1st screenset, it now displays the sub channels (without automation... just blank tracks, all named the same). if you turn on automation, and turn it off again, the subtracks disappear, but once you go back to the screenset with the automation, all of the subtracks are gone and it defaults back to volume.
Does anyone have any insights about this? Thanks!

Unfortunately, you are right Matthew. Locking a screenset does not seem to preserve most settings anymore. If you use folders you will already have noticed that locking a screenset with the folder open doesn't mean that when you go back to that screenset the folder will be open. In fact, in most cases it will be closed. This is REALLY a problem!
I haven't been using automation with Logic 8 much yet, but I have noticed that when you switch automation off on the fader, Logic will turn it back on, sometimes the very next time you start the song.

  • How can I get all the options of Field Point Explorer 3.0.2 in Measurement and Automation Explorer 3.1?

I am a student using LabVIEW and Compact Field Point to implement a
senior design project in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  We
have LabVIEW 7.1 and a cFP-2020 and additional modules.  We are
trying to use the CTR-500 module to output a pulse train to drive a
stepper motor.  We have found instructions online of how to do
this, but they all use Field Point Explorer.  The instructions
make use of options in Field Point Explorer that are not included in
Measurement and Automation Explorer (the software included with the
    cFP).
I have downloaded Field Point Explorer 3.0.2 and followed the
directions.  Now, in LabVIEW, when I using the newly created .iak
file, I get a dialogue asking to find the SubVI: 'FP Read (Float Array
-IO).vi'.  Included with LabVIEW are subvis for FP Read, but not
with the float array part.  So I figure I cannot use Field Point
Explorer created .iaks with LabVIEW 7.1.  So how cannot I access
the same options in Measurement and Automation that I was able to find
    in Field Point Explorer?
    Thanks

    Hi,
FieldPoint Explorer is no longer used to configure FieldPoint systems. However, I do not think that the configuring your system in FieldPoint Explorer is causing the error.
FieldPoint systems are now setup in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).  Information on setting up FieldPoint systems in MAX can be found in the MAX help under: Installed Products>> FieldPoint. Also, I recommend upgrading to the latest FieldPoint driver and version of MAX.  The FieldPoint VI's will be slightly different when you upgrade, so there is a good chance that this will eliminate the error.

  • How do I increase the field of view in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) Version 3.1.1.3003

I am using Measurement and Automation Explorer Version 3.1.1.3003 to view pictures on a pc that are being sent from a video camera looking through a microscope.  The image I see in the viewfinder of the microscope is MUCH smaller than the image that is displayed on the pc screen.  Looking through the viewfinder of the microscope, I can see ~20 mm across the object, but the display from the camera in NI-MAX shows ~4.5 mm across the object.  How can I change how much of an object is displayed on the screen in NI-MAX?
The camera is attached to the microscope with a camera adapter on the top of the microscope.  The lenses the camera "looks" through and the lenses used when one looks through the viewfinder are the same, so theoretically, there should be no difference in what is displayed on the pc and what is seen through the viewfinder.  We have ruled out the microscope and camera as the cause of the problem, which narrows it down to the NI-MAX software itself.
I saw in the forums that you can zoom out on an image; however, this does not change the distance across an image that is seen, just makes the picture of the same ~4.5 mm across the object smaller in size.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

I have attached a picture of the object's image being displayed on the pc monitor.  Where the field of view (FOV) in the microscope is almost 30 mm, the FOV displayed onscreen is about 7 mm.  After contacting companies various times I discovered there was a reducing lens that goes in the C-mount adaptor, but it is over $300.
I thought maybe that the FOV could be changed in in NI Measurement and Automation Exploer (NI-MAX).  Any ideas?

Using JavaScript to script System Events wouldn't be any better, since it uses the same Apple Events mechanism (how well it uses it is another topic).  To hold down a key you would need to use something that has access to the deeper system APIs, most likely using Xcode.
And yes, your code snippet will press the arrow key 5 times (I am guessing that the missing space in key code is a typo).  You can place the cursor in a bunch of text in another application such as TextEdit, and use your script to activate it before performing the key codes to get a better idea of what is happening (trying to reposition the cursor in the Script Editor will reveal a bug with the delay command).

In the website I'm developing I want to turn the background
image to black and white as the cursor moves toward the left side
of the screen or color when the user's cursor moves toward the

colored image's alpha to make the black and white fade in.
Can this be done in action script? It would save on file size
because I would just need the colored image if I could turn it to
black and white with actions script. I know you can control the
filters with action script but even in the colorTransform filters I
don't see anything for the saturation.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • OPC custome and automation I/F

    Hi all,
Sure it's clear I'm just a beginner in OPC. I wanna know what are OPC custom and automation interfaces?
    Thanks...

    Hi,
for connecting to OPC, you can simply use Datasocket. If you're designing a larger system, then you might want to have a look at LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control, which prior to LabVIEW 8.0 runs with a tag engine to connect to the various external data sources, including OPC, and then you write your code to talk to the tag engine. To learn more about LabVIEW 8.0 and the DSC module have a look at the links from here : http://zone.ni.com/devzone/conceptd.nsf/webmain/D76C3788A0C4C5668625708B0072987C
Here's the link to a search results page that will allow you to find out more about Datasocket and OPC connections.
