Fade Brush in CS6

Im using a tablet. I want to make my brush stoke very very short. Previously, I would do this by setting the fade to a very small number. I think I used to set it to airbrush but possibly it worked in brush as well. (I cant even figure out how to select an airbrush now) How do I do this in 6?

The tablet works fine. Amd I can sort of get the effect I'm wanting by just making very short strokes and letting off the pressure at the end of the stroke. However, It's hard to do such s small stroke this way (maybe 3/32" long). Hence it would be easier if I could set the fade to do this for me. This version simply has way too many controls. I can't figure how to set it whether brush or airbrush. I've read done stuff about "size jitter" jitter this jitter that etc but non of it is helpful.

Deleting brushes from CS6

I am having problem with deleting brushes from the panel. for some reason it seems that I have them stored in 2 different places. I really would like to re-arrange them but don't know how I can do that. Any suggestions

I have done that, for some reason I don't see some of the brushes and a lot of my actions are not there too but they are on cs6.

Error message opening CS2 brushes in CS6?

I make brushes that I sell and I have some freebies. I make the brushes on CS2 so that they will be compatible with more versions. I will now and again get a message from a client that says their brush doesn't work in CS6 or CC. I don't have any problems running my brushes in CC and most of my clients seem to have no problems, so what might occasionally give someone a problem using brushes that should be compatible? Note: I don't discount that it may be user errors - trying to load the pngs instead of the .abr, etc., but in case there is some other issue I'm not aware of. Thanks!

Since installing XP SP3 in addition to being unable to open Pagemaker 7 files in Indesign CS I now find I cannot open Indesign again if I close it. I have to reboot XP for a fresh start.
Also Illustrator CS opens only to present a box "Could not complete operation" and then closes. There are no problems then in opening it a second time, except it takes the usual significant time to start.
Are these symptoms of the same problem with SP3 and the Adobe software. It is disappointing to see people say neither Adobe or Redmond are at all interested.

Saving brushes in CS6 for use in cs5?

Hi everyone, just wondering if there is a way to save brushes for CS5 while using CS6? Not sure of this, but any help would be greatly apprecaited! Thanks!

I don’t think this should be a problem as long as you don’t use the new types of Brushes that were added in CS6.

Healing brush problem - CS6 extended

My brush healing tool in CS6 is leaving a texture trail instead of smoothly blending edges. I have the "sampled" icon checked, not the"pattern" icon. As far as I am aware, I have changed no settings since I last used this tool successfully. I have reset the tools, to no avail. The trail has dark and light spots in it. I have all the latest updates. I am running on a Mac Pro with 16GB of RAM. Suggestions?

So let me make sure I fully understand what is being attempted:
You're using the Healing Brush to essentially clone pixels from another part of the image to an area of the image that's transparent. You expect the soft edge of the brush to leave the edge of the result soft.
I think I can reproduce what you're seeing. Notably the blending doesn't seem to work properly either.
Here's what I see while brushing, then after I let up on the mouse button:
I think the real problem here is that it really doesn't seem to make much sense to use the Healing Brush on a transparent part of the image. It's prime function is to mix the result in with the surroundings. What are the surroundings in a transparent area? At best, you might hope to get white pixels there.
Some ideas that might help you work around this issue:
1. Use a layer mask to manage the transparency, and have the pattern entirely there in the image. In other words, separate the texture prep entirely from the transparency prep.
2. Use the Clone Stamp tool instead of the Healing Brush if you really need to brush over transparent pixels.

How to use width tool on calligraphy brush stroke CS6

Hi there,
i have created a stroke with a calligraphy brush. Now i want to make the stroke a bit thinner at some points of the path.
It could be easily done with the width tool but it doesn't work directly on the stroke.
Is there a way to convert the stroke so the thickness of the stroke will be kept at the other points?

You mean with the plugin?
It should work. Have you opened Window > DrawScribe > Dynamic Sketch?
The panel has some interesting options. You can input for instance the highest and lowest stroke width. Maybe the difference is too low at the moment to see a result. You also need to set the input parameters, for instance the pen pressure.

Where is the fuzzball brush in CS6

Can't find this brush. Which brush set includes it-- or is it no longer included in this version of Photoshop?

Looks like R_Kelly nailed the answer. Somehow I hadn't noticed that one before, nor that it had been removed.
I did know that the 5 pointed star had been removed. Seems odd that Adobe would drop brushes, rather than just add to the list.

Help needed with creating this "Fur" brush in CS6

Hi,
In steps 4 and 5 here, the author is creating a new Fur brush. However I can't do this in CS 6 as almost all the options in the Shape Dynamics tab are disabled:

Photoshop CS6 - Very Slow Brush Speeds...

Hi:
I thought CS5 was bad, but brushing with CS6 all brush strokes are very, very slow. If I make a brush stoke I have literally have to put my hand on my chin and wait for the brush to catch up. I cannot work like this. Any suggestions on what to do to speed up the brushes? Forget about adding anything else to Photoshop, please work on speeding up exisiting functions.

CS6 Erodible dry media brushes out of alignment

I'd be grateful if someone could confirm a problem I am seeing in using the new erodible dry media brushes in CS6. The problem is that the boundaries of an image re-created with the Pattern Stamp Tool and a new dry media brush, say the Square Charcoal brush, are just off alignment with the edges in an outline drawing of the same image made on a layer above using the Glowing Edges filter. This means that as you paint back with the Square Charcoal brush the image is just shifted a bit to the right when look at through the Glowing Edges (in Multiply blend mode) outline drawing (you need to invert and desaturate the Glowing edges drawing to see a black on white drawing).
This problem gets less noticeable as the size of the erodible dry media brush is decreased and does not seem to happen at all with other Photoshop brushes like a standard Hard Round or Chalk brush. This problem occurs when the "Aligned" box is selected in the Tool Options bar so a failure to select that option is not the issue.
Are others seeing this and is there a way round it (other than not using the erodible brushes)? It doesn't seem to matter at what tilt the brushes are held.

Here's what i did as a test on windows 8 x64 photoshop cs6 using a mouse and a tablet:
1. Defined the opened image as a pattern (Edit>Define Pattern)
2. Duplicated the background layer, ran the glowing edges filter, inverted the layer and then Image>Adjustments>Desaturate.
3. Added a new blank layer above, changed the layer blend mode to multiply, chose the pattern stamp tool with the Square Charcoal brush at the default settings except for changing the size to 150 px.

For me it looks pretty much aligned., but i don't have cs6 on a mac to test.
I also tried with the glowing edges layer on top set multiply and the pattern stamp layer below and got the same results.

Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing when I try and change brush colour

Hi, my Photoshop CS6 keeps crashing when I try and change brush colour. I use layer masks a lot and consequently need to switch between black and white brushes. CS6 crashes a lot and gets closed by Windows 7 when I either click in the icon to swap brush colour or press the X keyboard shortcut. It's driving me crazy. I run Windows 7 on a high spec Dell PC. The problem has only started a couple of months ago, had CS6 since it came out. Can I advise me please? Thanks.

Can not load some brushes in PSE 8

I recently purchased a brush set made with PS CS6.
I have a question about the brushes.
I have tumasoft preset viewer and cannot view them there.
I also have PSE 8 and cannot load them there either. I get an error message.
However I have CS6 and can view them there.
Why is that? Am I doing something wrong?

Some or all of the brushes from cs6 are not compatible with earlier versions of elements or photoshop depending on the version.
I believe they are the bristle, erodible tip and airbrushes. Any of the brushes that don't use the Standard Brush Tip Shape settings.

Unable to load brushes

I cannot load any of my previous brushes in CS6. I know they are in the folders, and they work with CS3, but do not show up when I try to load through CS6. Are they not compatable?

Brush presets are compatible.
How are you trying to load the files?
Are you using the Load command on the brushes flyout, or the preset manager?
Are you using the menu of installed preset files on the brushes flyout or preset manager (which would only pick up the brush presets in the CS6 folder)?
Have you tried double clicking the files, or dragging them into CS6?

Add texture brush strokes without altering color??

I want to paint texture into an image without adding or changing color.

He has used Buzz, as have I, to change photos into watercolor like images, now defunct and taken over by Topaz software, who now market Simplify in place of BUZZ.
After running the filter, he has added brush strokes to add texture without altering any color—just adding a texture looking like impasto or thick brush strokes.
I have searched everywhere and view lots of video but cannot find a technique to get the result I want.
I am sure there is way to do this, probably with brushes in CS6 and am frustrated with my being unable to find or create a way to achieve this effect.
Can you help??

Error - Could not place the document 'IMG_1664.MOV' because no parser...

I am trying to open a video to edit within Photoshop CS6 x64. I am getting the following message:-
Could not place the document ‘IMG_1664.MOV’ because no parser or file format can open the file.
The video was shot on my iphone 4S and ive even tried converting to other formats yet Photoshop still gives the same error. I have checked through Bridge and I have no option to send to Photoshop on the right click menu. Can anyone help as Im desperate to try out the new features of CS6 for video editing.
I am running a 27" iMac with 12gb RAM and 1gb of Video RAM. Any help would be very much appreciated as im at a complete loss and there seems to be very little about this problem on the net at the moment. I am also running Lion if that helps.

I was getting the same error message when trying to instal a simple brush in CS6 64bit, I saved my work and backed out of the program and opened the regular (i'm guessing 32 bit) program and tried to instal them there. It worked no problem. That would be my suggestion to you to see if it is an error in both formats of CS6 and if it works, it might be something to let adobe know is an error that needs be fixed or at least addressed to the general public as to why it won't work. I beleive you should have received both version with your install. I did anyways.
