Fade From Center

With a fade effect selected, in the Inspector pane under the Timing tab, the Sequence can start from left, right or ping pong. On my LiveType (2.1), ping pong is greyed out. I have used this effect on other machines and had text fade from center.
Am I missing something?

AFAICS, there is no way to "port" the presets. I but the techniques should be reproducible...

Screen fades from black to grey then into white.

Ive had my iphone for 3 1/2 weeks Out of nowhere my iphone 4s got all weird. My screen fades from black to grey into white. ive tried to reboot it it doesnt work. i also pressed the middle button and the power button for like 10 seconds and nothin happens. it turns off sometimes when i press the two buttons.
Then it just turned on like it supposed to, a few hours later it happened again. it all happened yesterday. then today i got on itunes to restore the phone to see if it works better then then while it was syncrnizing eerything into the phone it happened once again. i really dont know what to do! has anyone had the same or a similar problem? would it work if i just restore it and just make it a "new" phone ?

While in the B/W desktop go to the System/Accessability preference pane and check to see if this checkbox is selected:
If it isn't toggle it on and then off again and see if there's any change.

Rescue stereo audio fades from a mono project

On Premiere Pro CS3 I accidentally created a project with a mono master audio track. The live audio is in fact mono, but the backing music which fades in and out is stereo.
I can't see any way to convert the master track to stereo (or find any advice online on how to achieve this) so I thought I could export the video and live audio into a mono-sound movie, then combine it with the music in a new stereo project.
But how do I apply the very complicated fades from the original project to the music on the new one? Tried exporting an EDL of the relevant audio but can't figure out how to apply it when I import it into the new stereo project.
Anyone know the best way to do this?

Hi – thanks for the advice Ron. Before I saw your reply I was trying to figure out how the EDL I exported from the original mono project could be used in my new stereo project, which was basically a full mixdown of the original without the music.
Importing the EDL created a bin folder containing separate L and R audio (of the backing music) and an EDL file, but when I added these into the main sequence there were no fades to be seen. What I had failed to notice at first was that it also created a separate sequence tab on the timeline. This contained the same audio files WITH fades. Not sure what the logic of that is.
But, when I finally noticed that the other sequence was there, all I had to do was cut and paste the audio into the main sequence.
I usually deal with very short videos so I've never used multiple sequences within the same project before and would have to look up how to nest one inside another. So I found another solution in the end, but yours sounds entirely credible too. Thanks again.

Use the Tween class to transition the window's current width and height properties to their final width and height. Register a function to receive one of the tween's "motionChange" event so you can reposition the window accordingly when its w and h are changed. You'll need to measure the window's bounds and position at each step to make sure it's not outside the screen bounds, or smaller/larger than allowed. How you resize the interior stage content is up to you...

Fade from black and fade to black come out green in AME CS4

Hi,
I have a short 3 minute clip in the photo JPEG format. I applied the 480P Apple TV setting to it and hit render. The quality was great except that instead of fading from black at the beginning of the clip and fading to black at the end of the clip, it fades from and to green. In other words, green has replacedblack when fading. This does not happen in Compressor, but the AME produces the same quality image at 1/3 the files size. What am I doing wrong?

I've definitely rendered and it makes a difference. Nevertheless the dissolve is still quite blurry.
Any thoughts?

Not sure why it would default to IMAP? But any how, start the account anew, fill in the first page of info, but before clicking on the Create button, hold down the Option key until the Create button changes to read Continue. Click continue, and proceed in a more manual process during which you can set the account type as POP.

Can I create a fade from black with Media Encoder?

I am having a problem with Adobe DPS making my videos jump up (shift up a bit) in the first few seconds of the video. As a workaround I want to create a fade-from-black effect to hide the first seconds of the video. Can I create a fade in Media Encoder?

No sound from Center or Subwoofer during Calibrat

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS and the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5. Speaker System. During speaker calibration, I hear the test tones from Left, Left Rear, Right, Right Rear but not from Center or Subwoofer (the indicator flashes over the center speaker icon in the graphic but no sound comes out - same with the subwoofer).
I know the subwoofer works when playing music but have not heard anything from the center speaker.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem, games and music etc all speakers work, but during the tests/calibration I get no sound from rear speakers, center or the sub...... help please! (from the firewire port out the plugs all go as follows: yellow, black, green)

Fade From Solid

I did a forum search but it apparently searches "ALL" of the Adobe Forums. How can I "ONLY" search the After Effects Forum?
I have also looked in the help manual for an answer, and on the web but I can't find an answer so maybe I am not asking this right.
How do I make a transition or fade from a black solid to my movie. Here's what I've done.
I Created a black solid, then I made it's duration from 0 to 4 seconds long in the timeline. I then moved the keyframe cursor to 2 seconds and then right clicked on the solid and selected the "opacity" to lower the opacity to "0" but the opacity of the whole solid went to "0" %. How do I add a keyframe at 2 seconds and start the fade there?

I want the solid to be 100% black from 1 second to 2 seconds, then slowly fade out from 2 seconds to 4 seconds. How would I do this?

If you're new to After Effects, I strongly recommend that you begin by working your way through the materials under the "Getting started" heading on the After Effects Help & Support page.
Regarding your question about transitions: You can have one movie fade out and another appear in many ways. One way is the way that you already seem to be working on. You can manually animate (keyframe) the Opacity property of one layer so that it fades out to reveal the layer beneath it. Or you can use Transition effects. Or you can use the Sequence Layers keyframe assistant.
But first, as I said, you'll really help yourself by reading the introductory material and watching the video tutorials linked to from the "Getting started" section on the After Effects Help & Support page

Fade from top to bottom

i'm creating a menu in Motion and the menu will run 60 seconds in that time a want an object thats in my menu to fade from full opacity to nothing, sounds easy but i want this to fade out from top to bottom over 60 seconds. I understand the keyframe side of it but trying to figure out how to fade from top to bottom.Thanks

Create a gradient that is white to white. Put a ramp parameter behavior on th color at one end to fade it down to black. Add another ramp behavior for the other color only have it start half way thru your timeline. Then use that gradient as a luminance mask.

An empty string is considered null in Oracle so that's the same as:
SQL> SELECT REGEXP_REPLACE('01-1552963-01','-') Sample from dual;
SAMPLE
01155296301which, let's face it is pretty pointless when a regular REPLACE function will do the same.
You should only really use the regular expression versions when you have a pattern that needs matching, not just a fixed set of characters.

How to change default vertical page co-ordinates from center, to top?

Hi There,
We're having trouble understanding why InDesign centers the page instead of aligning the view to the top when switching pages (and copying and pasting) - and how to change this behavior.
To understand what I'm talking about, do the following:
Create a new document (any size)
Use the page tool to to change the height
Create a new page and use the page tool to make the height a lot taller
Now switch between the pages
Notice how InDesign always shows you the center of the page?
This is frustrating in many situations like copying and pasting - try the following:
Create a box on the first page and align it to 20mm from the top and 20mm from the left
Copy the box
Switch to the second page
Paste using CMD + OPT + SHFT + P
The object should be pasted in the same spot (20mm from the top and 20mm from the left) but it isn't - on the vertical, it's pasted relative to the center of the page for some reason.
It surprising how annoying this becomes when you're constantly re-positioning pasted items or when switching between web layouts of different heights - it becomes a two step process instead of one.
Does anyone know how to change this behavior?
Any pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated - we're using CS5.5

Why in the same spot if pages have different size?
In general, sure - but what about letting the user define a point of reference? For me, it's always the top left corner like the rulers - I completely understand if that doesn't work for others but it would save me so much wasted time constantly repositioning objects.
Also, in a lot of documents with different page-sizes, setting the reference to top left (or whatever you set your rulers to) actually works a lot of the time - granted, probably only for those that use the numbers to position objects.
Anyway, what I'd like to do is find out how to set a document-wide reference point for co-ordinates - obviously you can't do this right?
Another thing that wastes time (in a similar vein) is the ability to set defaults for translation, rotation and flipping etc.
Almost without fail, I find I want top left when moving (because I set rulers to top left) but center for rotation and flipping. Being able to set a default per translation type would save a lot of pointing and clicking.
Is this possible?

Rectangle expands from center (& breeds like a rabbit)

I know this problem has been discussed. I located a thread in January that recorded the bug but did not give an answer – just refered to earlier discussions. Unfortunately, the "Search Forum" option can't even find the term "rectangle," so no luck there. Please forgive if this is a re-post.
The players: Mac OSX 10.6.6, iMac 27" w/ 4 GB RAM, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 processor.
Adobe Illustrator 15.0.2 (though problem also occured in 15.0.0)
The problem: dragging the rectangle tool creates a rectangle that expands from the center from the initial mouseDown spot. These rectangles seems to duplicate every time you drag one.
Attempted solutions: I tossed my AI prefs. No help. I uninstalled and reinstalled AI. No good. I upgraded to AI 15.0.2. No better.
Anyone know what's going on? And why the forum search engine can't find earlier threads on this?

Can Apple TV fade from one music title to the next?

Playing my mysic with iTunes I can set it to fade softly from one title to the next, without pausing between the tracks.
I can't find this setting in my new Apple TV and the Apple TV seems unaffected by my settings in my iTunes. How can I tell my Apple TV to behave like I want?
