Fade in an overlay by a button in master slide

Hello,
I'm using custom made buttons for slide navigation in the master slides. Is it possible to let fade in an overlay object when a button is clicked?
E.g. I got a "Close" button in my master slide. If pressed, an overlay object should appear asking "do u really wanna quit? ..."
As these objects got no ID, the action "fade in" and the advanced actions wont work I think...
Any idea?

If you want it to trigger a shared or advanced action, you have to put the shape button on the first slide, time it for the rest of the project, always on top. Then it has a unique ID, you can control everything.
Or, You can put the 'overlay object' only on the first slide with same timing, hide it. Leave the shape button on the master slide and you can create an action that has the command 'Show....' in it. Since the overlay object is on normal slides, it has an ID.

Sounds like you may need to reset the iPhone or put it into recovery mode to resolve the issue if it is to do with the software.

Buttons in Question slides, possible?

Hello. I'm trying to get around this. So far putting buttons in hasn't worked as it won't allow it, putting them in a master slide wont work as it wont allow it and really the only possibly I see that might work is an SWF button. My problem is (even though I know AS3) is I don't know where to start, and I am unsure how to apply my Captivate advanced actions to an SWF button, and to let it know what variables are set at and when they change.
Maybe there is an easier way? Can this be achieved at all, without using a crazy javascript menu overlay?

Have been blogging and writing some articles about constructing Question slides. There are some caveats: drag-and-drop is not possible out of the box, but you can have a fine Widget for that. It is a lot more work than using the default Questions. And you have to watch the scores closely, especially if you have to report to a LMS using SCORM. But if I have enough time I will always use my own questions.

How do I add a hover state to a smart shape button on the master slide? CP7

I want to use a button with a hover state on my master slide in CP7. I created a smart shape and checked the box 'use as button.' I then created 3 image files with the "x_up, x_down, x_over' extensions. When I select my smart shape and choose a custom pattern from the fill menu and select my 'x_up' image file, the smart shape does not recognize the hover state. Is there another way to achieve this?

Thanks I think I get it now after reading your post. Shape buttons can only shrink when they are pressed and nothing else. I was thinking a work round for me would be to use a regular button with the up, over, down state, put this regular button on the first slide and set the timing for 'display for rest of project.' However I don't see this option in the timing panel:

How to create buttons for each slide in slideshow

I currently have a slideshow working with prev and next buttons,
but would like to add numbered buttons for each slide at bottom of images,
with a static number for the active slide that has a colored circle around that number.
I can create static number with colored circle in Photoshop and add that to a layer,
but it's labor intensive to do that for all numbers.
Is there a better way to create the highlighted numbers for active slide?
For numbered buttons that link to non-active slides, I can create numbers in Photoshop and import images into Flash,
then convert to symbols and assign actions for them,
But that too is labor intensive to do for all the numbers.

I'd also like to have a hover function on the numbered buttons,
that changes from plain image of number to number with colored circle like I want to use for active slide.
How do I assign a hover function to button symbol, that will load another image or symbol?

Try to think in terms of having reusable symbols. Think it thru before you try it.
Use a movieclip symbol instead of a button. Have a dynamic textfield in that movieclip for the number, and set the textfield to not be selectable. Have one frame of this movieclip where it displays as the highlighted (selected) one and have the movieclip go there where you are on that slide.
Use the textfield for the number--assign it dynamically so that you don't have to import an image for it. Use as many of these movieclips as you need to for all your buttons.
Have functions that reset all the buttons at once so that when you move to a new slide, the previously selected one goes back to mormal... follow that with setting the newly selected one to be in its "selected" frame.

Adding a print button on a slide?

I have had a request to add a print icon button on each slide of the programme I am creating. They want it possible for the user to print any of the slides if deemed they wish.
Is this option available in Captivate 5.5? If so how do I do this?

I have finally got around to inserting my print button, but I have chosen to have no text but still a white tect box can be seen at the bottom of the icon. (See attached)

Radio button in master-detail tables.

I work with ADF, Struts, JSP of JDeveloper10G 10.1.2.0.0 (Build 1811).
My DataPage has two master detail tables. Master table has radio button in each row.
If click on radio button of master table, information on detal table no change. But with Navigation buttons all right.
In master table radio looks like this:

What can i do to relate these tables over radio ?

Hi,
the radio button by itself only sets the row currency but doesn't refresh the page. You will have to enforce a page refresh if master and detail are on the same page so teh detail data can be updated

Adding "home" button to every slide

I have a 50+ slide Captivate document and I'd like to add a
"home" button on every slide without having to paste it into every
one. Any way to do this? Is there a master slide or something I can
add it to and have it appear on all?

Hi wfz and welcome to our community!
Unfortunately you don't have a lot of choice in placement of
these beasties. So you either use what you have or develop a
workaround. I'm thinking you will perhaps need to insert a button
object on each slide that is labeled "Home" and points to the
appropriate slide.
You should also consider submitting a WishForm asking the
developers to provide us more flexibility in placing the existing
menu. You may do this by
clicking
here and completing the forum you should find there.

No it does not... buttons do not slide, they get pressed.
So is the issue with the lock button at the top of the device or the "Slide to unlock" option on the screen?

Back up to your computer instead. To do this, connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now. Also go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases to transfer your apps and other purchased media to your iTunes library. Finally, save any photo stream photos to your camera roll (open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll), then import your camera roll photos and videos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. (You don't need to delete them from your phone afterwards unless you need the space.)

Seems to be working again, I haven't done anything though. And the "wifi" led on my laptop is off, which should mean that the interface is down.
This is driving me crazy I don't understand how the all thing works, if anyone has any tips that would be very nice.

Which version of 6? Check the slide quality, if it is at Low, push it to High or Optimized. Then uncheck all compression settings in Preferences, Project, SWF Size and Quality.

By customization what exactly you mean ? if you have applied states, effects etc to slideshow still add button should work. Or if you are using the slide show in some container.
Please provide more details.
