Fade in from black cuts off beginning frames

Hi list...
I have a timeline set as first play where the footage fades in from black. The first few frames are getting cut off, and I suspect it's because Encore sets the first chapter marker automatically to what it thinks is the first fully bright frame. Is this what's happening, and if so, how can I prevent that, and therefore make the disk play from the black beginning?

Encore always sets the first chapter in a timeline at time zero...only the poster frame for the first chapter can ever not be at time zero.
Why you are seeing what you are seeing, I'm not sure. Have you checked it on multiple DVD players? How does it look in a software DVD player?

Fade in from black (pink flash in-between frames) in premiere pro cc

Hello,
when i fade in from black I get a transparent pink flash in between frames as the effect is happening. The footage has a white background which makes the color very noticeable.
I have tried key framing opacity, and using a levels, and the same result occurs.
Any thoughts?? Thank you all

CC 2014, source is 1080mts and the open CL was on. I believe that was the issue, as well as other things the way the transparency and the blacks were interacting, after turning off mercury playback it fixed the black issues. Havent been on the project in question for a while to check if that fixed the pink bars as well, though.

How do you FADE UP FROM BLACK and FADE OUT TO BLACK in iMovie 11?

With all the silly effects in iMovie 11, I can't figure out how to do a simple FADE UP FROM BLACK or FADE OUT TO BLACK. Anybody know?

Fade to Black does it all. At the beginning of the sequence it fades up from black. Between clips it fades to black and back from black. At the end of the sequence it fades to black.

Import from FCP Cutting Off Audio

I've just had a few hours added to an interview I've been editing thanks to either a setting I don't know about or an import bug between FCP and Soundtrack. I'll try to explain.
I have 4 video tracks and their accompanying audio tracks. After editing the footage (which include several "J" and "L" cuts, if that matters), I sent the file to Soundtrack as a multitrack project. Upon beginning to work on the audio, I quickly discovered that the import had cut off some of the clips. Not all, but some. The edit sounds fine in FCP, but then the clip is cutoff mid-word in Soundtrack. For example, in FCP a clip ended on the word "purpose". In Soundtrack, the same clip ended at "pur-".
I could think of nothing else to do but take the affected clips one at a time, and by trial and error, extend the audio clips in FCP 5-10 frames past where they were supposed to go. A couple hours later....somehow--even though it sounded wrong now in FCP--it sounded correct in Soundtrack. Then I made my audio adjustments, added a background track, and took it back into FCP.
This has really confounded me. Is there some kind of export bug? A setting? What?

well you might be in the wild west just a little. I haven't tried editing anything from an iPhone. My guess is that the video isn't frame based, but that it's probably a long GOP codec. I do everything in one of the flavors of Prores. You might want to try that and see if it clears up the issue. Download a copy of Mpeg Stream clip and convert your files to ProRes and then bring them into Final Cut. Then you'll be using proper frame based footage.
Note that you can get a cable for your iPhone that, when plugged into the audio socket, gives you both audio in and monitoring out. I have one, and I use it for a Sony wireless mic set. Then your audio is automatically wedded and you can skip the hassles of double system sound. You could even take the monitor out of the H4 and run it into the camera so you have an automatic backup. Oh, and check the frequency of the sound on the iPhone footage. It might not be 48k.

RH 7 print from toolbar cutting off right margin in IE

Topics printed with the Print button in the toolbar are cutting off the right margin in IE 7 & 8. It seems independent of the printer. This doesn't occur in Firefox.
Anyone encounter this before? Any documented fixes, or is it a known issue?

Playing slideshow on tv from ipad cutting off picture

I am connecting my ipad 2 to my TV with a RocketFish Composite adapter and trying to play a video slideshow on my TV. I am able to play the video/slideshow just fine, however both the top and bottom of the videos (and pictures) are being cut off by several inches. When played directly on my iPad the size is fine ( no cut offs). The videos were converted to Ipad compatable (.m4v) using Aimersoft Video Converter and the iPad presets. The resolutions of the videos are 720 x 480. The TV I am connecting to is 1080P LED TV. I have tried different aspect ratios in the TV's settings but there are not much to choose from and each setting changes the size of the video a little, but the amount being cut off from the top and bottom is consistent. What can i do to correct this problem. Also, I need this slideshow for a trade show I am in tomorrow afternoon, so a quick response would help a lot.
Another thing... In my research so far, I found that iPad 2 can mirror its display (meaning what you see on the iPad you see on the TV) onto the TV. But I cannot seem to get that to work either. I can only play videos and slideshows from the apps that allow you to. How do I go about mirroring my display to my TV? Does it only work with a HDMI connection?

What adapter are you using? I have the Digital AV Adapter that connects to the HDMI input of a small Vizio HDTV. It seems to work OK, and has stereo sound. My only problem has been the weight of the HDMI cable pulling the adapter out of the iPad.
Apple also sells VGA, Component and Composite adapters. I also have the VGA adapter which works on the HDTV and one LCD monitor. However it doesn't work on a couple of older monitors I tried. Also VGA is video only. You would need to run a separate cable for sound on the TV.

Why are prints from Preview cut off at bottom of page

When I print a PDF from Preview the print has about 3/4" cut off the bottom of a portrait document or from the right of a landscape document.. When I print the same document from Acrobat Reader, it prints correctly. I use Page Setup before printing. The scaling in the other direction seems correct which makes the cut-off a mystery.
I prefer Preview for PDFs as it is much faster than Acrobat Reader. The cut-off prints have caused me grief when I have not detected them. What is going on here?

I have the same problem and can confirm it also happens in Leopard. There was traffic on a similar Leopard issue printing landscape to Windows shared printers that was fixed in 10.5.2, but it doesn't seemed to be solved for my situation (printing to CUPS shared printer). Note that it seems to be a bug in the way Preview creates a PDF for printing, since Adobe Reader works fine, and "lpr <filename>" from the command line will also work.
If you have any more info since you posted, I would be interested.

Song purchased from iTunes cuts off

Bought an entire album on iTunes for one song and when I go to play it in iTunes it will only play the first 1:45 (it's a 16 minute song!) It obviously didn't download correctly but I'm not sure what to do. It also cuts off on my iPod. The rest of the album seems to play fine but of course the song I want is "album only." Help!

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past purchases, delete the current copies from your iTunes library and then download again using the Purchased link in the right-hand column of the iTunes Store home page.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history.

Songs purchased from iTunes cut off and do not show as purchased

I've had iTunes roughly since 2006. All my purchases don't show up in the purchased playlist. Quite a few of the songs (like the entire Sleep Through the Static album) cut off about 2 1/2 minutes into the song. I saw some people had deleted their "corrupt" files and then redownload them from the store but since many of the songs don't even show up as purchased anymore in mine (maybe do to the newer computer) this is not an option
Is there a way to fix this or am I out of luck?

After effects composition - right side cut off - last frame in premiere

I have a ppro project - creative suite monthly cs6 - osx 10.9.5 mavericks (latest before yosemite upgrade)
at the end of the project - I have an after effects composition. It is fine until the last frame - where the far right 1/8 or so is being cut off of the slide. (see image below). The frame before the end? perfect. The final frame - cut off.
If I extend the ae composition one frame longer - the same issue happens (the second to the last frame is perfect, the last frame is cut off). same with making it 1 frame shorter.
I have never seen anything like it.
when I check my effects controls - I have nothing active (no opacity, no "crop" etc.) - my height/width are all exactly the same in both frames.
Any ideas?

That's the End of Sequence Indicator. Expected behavior. It doesn't show on your exports, so don't worry. In Premiere Pro 2014.1, you can disable it.

How can I prevent the text in non-resizable contexts from being cut off?

I have not changed the Application, System, or Dialog fonts from their defaults.

Medium might be the default for high ppi monitors but it is very different from the original windows settings that were used when 96 ppi was standard. Of course for a high resolution FullHD resolution on a 15 inch screen you end up with a ppi of around 150ppi.
This article explains somewhat the history of where 96ppi came from and that it was in fact already a convinient misrepresentation of the real values. The problem is partly that LabVIEW makes some assumptions about the size of text based on the actual ppi settings while the rendering of the text as done by Windows can be scaled by your control panel adjustment. However the solution is not as trivial as replacing all assumbtions about the size of text by the new values as that won't always give the correct values either and also has quite a lot of other issues such as controls suddenly looking very oversized when moving a front panel from a low ppi device to a high ppi device. Basically the way Windows deals with screen resolution and different ppi makes it simple for Windows to render text on a display without ugly aliasing effects but makes it impossible for an application to both be text and size accurate when rendering windows like a LabVIEW front panel.
It's also a reason why so called retina displays still don't really work under Windows while IOS has them already for quite some time.
Ravens Fan, Windows 7 has Normal (100%), Medium (125%) and Larger (150%). To maintain the relative text size on an old CRT for a FullHD 15 inch labtop display one would have to use the Larger setting, which is outright ugly. I personally use Smaller on all my Windows 7 labtops because of issues like the LabVIEW front panels rendering but also many other applications get into trouble otherwise. Yes it looks kind of small on my FullHD 15 inch LCD monitor, but at least it is all consistent.

Why are my downloaded songs from ITunes cutting off before the song has played?

I am new to ITunes. I purchased 6 albums. Why are my downloaded songs starting in the middle and cutting off before they have played?

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

First photo order from apple cuts off subjects head

Who is the genius at the Apple developing room who needs to crop a photo so that the subjects head is cut off? Usually when you send a picture into a photo store, they get it right the first time without exercising their creative PHOTOGRAPHER abilities. Why can't the film processors just leave the prints as is when they receive them? Well, I guess I will go elsewhere for my photo orders as the "creative" people there just have to show off their new, exciting film techniques by expanding, editing, cropping, and did I mention that the picture order I did receive looked nothing like what I sent them...UUGGHH!!! Go work at Costco or something...I think that's where I'll try next.

How do I make sure my prints are not cropped incorrectly during processing?
Each print size has its own slightly different rectangular shape, known as the aspect ratio. For example, an 8 x 10 print is proportionately taller and narrower than a 4 x 6 print. To make your image fit these different print shapes, photo labs usually enlarge the image slightly and crop out what doesn't fit.
For the best results, you should crop your images to the same aspect ratio as the print size you are ordering.

Why no fade in from black when clip without head handle is adjacent to ...?

There seems to be a lot of workarounds and unintuitive ways of doing things in FCP. I'm trying to understand if it's something I don't know or if the developers of FCP are lazy to make things just work.
I'd like to know the reasoning for not allowing me to drop a Fade In Fade Out Dissolve on the beginning of a clip when the clip does not have a head handle and when the clip is after another clip that does not have a tail handle.
Why does the workaround (of inserting a gap, dropping the transition, and deleting the gap) work, but not the way it should just work?

Are you coming from iMovie? Because iMovie will adjust the clips so that you have handles. It does this because it is consumer software and strict show timing isn't an issue. But if FCP did this, the timing of the cut would change and professionally, that is a BIG no no.
You have to learn about handles and know how to use them and plan for dissolves.

A full 1 second cross fade reaches 15 frames into each clip. So, if you want to change a cut to a cross fade, there has to be at least 15 additional frames of each clip. Say you're trying to cross fade from one clip into the very first frame of a second clip. FCP cannot 'create' 15 more frames of the second clip to do a cross fade. If they're not there, you're out of luck.
What you are running into is that you are marking an out point at the far edges of a clip then adding a cross dissolve, say 30 frames (one second) in duration. Since the dissolve is centered on the cut, it will start 15 frames before the cut, and try to go 15 frames AFTER the cut...which it can't do. What you need to do is plan how long your dissolve will be and back-time your cut so that it works.
You need to make sure that your clips have enough media (called 'handles') at the beginning of the incoming clip and at the end of the outgoing clip for the transition. For example, if you have a 1 second (30 frame) dissolve, your in and out point need to be at least 15 frames from the edge of the clip.

Airport how to prevent from being cut off by Netcut

Im using an aiport router connected to my pc, my brother on the other hand is using a program called NetCut which disconnects me from the internet when he feels that i am lagging him. It makes the status connected but no internet connection, is there a way i can prevent this from happening?
is there a way to protect myself from this? also how can i disconnect people off my network wireless and ethernet?

you could place a frame with horizontal elasticity set to shrink around your author's field. make that field fill 90% of the page width and place the date-column beside it.
If you have small number of authors the field should shrink and take the date fied with it.
If you have a very large number of authors the list would occupy 90% of the pagewidth, spread over more than one row, the dat field would be places at the right end of the page at the top.
