Fade in two text bullet points on main menu

How can I fade in two text bullet points on the main menu once the main menu appears. The main menu is designated as first play and once the bullet points fade on they stay static on the menu. They are just brief instructions and aren't buttons.

Animated QuickTime backgrounds with text bullet points over it????

The bullet point lines would need to animate on screen at the user's interaction (clicking the mouse or pressing arrow key). I tried this in PowerPoint and it didn't work. Every time you hit the arrow key or click the mouse to animate the first bullet point the movie in the background freezes and comes to the front covering the bulleted text.

yes, you can do this in Keynote. The only issues might be that on some machines, if you are using the presenter layout on your laptop screen, the video will stutter as you build in each bullet. Turning off the presenter tools usually takes care of that. Also, you can't extend the video onto a second slide, so anything you want to build in front of that video must be on THAT slide. Lastly, video currently pauses during a slide transition in Keynote, so even if you do a cross dissolve to the next slide, hoping for a smooth video to video transition, it won't be smooth, the video will freeze as it fades into the next one, which will also be frozen, then the next one will start playing.

I keep getting this damn messages with Every adobe application. I was having tons of issues with encore 1.0 so I upgraded and bought 2.0. Now I'm having that error message.
Does anyone know what the problem is? And by the way, I only get that message on the main menu when it tries to loop. The menu background video is 1:00:00 ( one minute ) and the loop point is 00:07:00 ( seven seconds ) with loop amount set to forever. I've changed it to other stuff to see, but I still get the message.
I am able to burn the disc and everything works, except for the loop point at the main menu. The menu plays till it's duration and then instead of looping it ( in a DVD player ) just stops playback and ( during preview on my computer ) gives that above error message.... ' an abnormal condition has been detected. '

Well nevermind. I seem to have fixed it. I just had to build a new project and re link everything. Seems that maybe the original project got all gunked up or something. It's working fine now.

Formatted text/bullet points

Hi-
Is there a way to get formatted text to show on Webtools? For example, in the Description I would like to show a bulleted list, change colors or perhaps underline or italics. Currently we are using the Data Transfer Workbench to upload into SAP.
How would I get this into B1 so that it will synch to Webtools and hold the formatting?
B1 version is 2007A, pl 42. Webtools version is 2007.1.652.2.

When I tried to upload the product description into a UDF (not the Remarks field) in B1 through the DTW, I see my description with the proper HTML markers in B1, but the description never changes in Webtools. Is it possible that Webtools is seeing the <> HTML markers as operators and not allowing it to synch? Below is the description I'm using:

Undesired bullet pointed text automatically upon creating a new text box

Hi there! Due to the snow I'm working from home today but I have a little problem back in work that would be nice to get some help on before i go back hopefully tomorrow so i can continue at full speed!
I'm using Mac OS X (can't remember which version from the top of my head but something quite new!), and InDesign CS3. Basically, every time i create a new text box, or place an excel file into the document (having to do a lot of that at the moment, creating a price guide), it is in bullet point form, and although it's quite easy to go and turn it back off, with me having to do this quite a lot it's getting somewhat frustrating. It does it every single time i create a new text box even if i have turned it off for the previous one
I'm pretty sure this is going to be one of those "oh, you just need to..." problems with a really simple answer...i hope so anyway!

Thanks guys, i now seem to have a related problem at home. Here i am using CS2 but working on the same document as at work. I have made sure nothing is selected and set my character and paragraph styles to basic, and hey presto, when i create a text box, all is well. However, when i create a table, and i type in a cell, the bullets return! I have just discovered that turning them off in CS2 doesn't seem to be as simple as CS3 - so firstly - how do i do that?! And secondly - any ideas why it is happening but only in tables?!

You may try this trick to introduce bullet character in Reports on Windows platform:
For Boilerplates:
In Application such as Wordpad, hold Alt and press 0149 on numeric pad. This will insert a bullet mark in the editor. Copy this text and paste it in Reports Paper Layout.
For Fields:
Create a formula column (Character type) in the same group as the column that you need to bullet. Return the following result:
return '� ' || :<your_column>;
All the values based on this Formula column will display a Bullet mark.
Hope this helps.
p.s. character 149 is bullet character in most fonts.

Center bullet points vertically with text

CS6 in Windows 7. I've made a custom bullet point that's a square, but it is vertically aligned with the bottom of the first line of text instead of to the center of the first line of text. How do I shift the bullet point up so it's aligned with the center of the first line of text?

You can create a character style to apply to the bullet that adds baseline shift, or since you say this is a custom bullet, you could remake the bullet, and push it higher in relation to the line when you make (which is a more universal solution).

Bullet point list starting in a line also containing non-bulleted text

I have a line of text in iWork Pages separated by a tab, like this:
Executive Summary: (TAB) This is the first bullet point
I want the first part of the text ("Exec Summary:") to stay without bullets, but the right part of the text ("This is the first bullet point") to be shown as a bullet point (this list should then be continued in the following lines).
Any time I highlight the right part of the text and click on "List", the bullet appears in front of the left part, not in front of the right. Any idea?

If you are trying to mix the points within an indented, paragraph you can add a tab to catch the first internal bullet and type option * to get the bullet "•" then another tab to start the indented text.
To continue with the normal auto bullets after that, make an indented bulleted list with the indent aligning with the tab in the first paragraph.
All this formatting works off 3 things:
1. First line indent which in this case is hard left
2. A tab mid way between the hard left start and
3. The overall paragraph indent which is further right.
Exec Summary • First Point
• Second point etc

Bullet point alignment problem

Hi I am having a problem with the alignment when I use bullet points?
the body of the text is aligned so it does not exceed the screen width. But once I enter bullet points it exceeds the right hand side alignment. How do I make the alignment remain the same?

BioprimeTM was originally developed about 15 years ago for vegetable producers as a way to control root disease. In those days you couldn’t actually prove what was going on, but growers kept buying it because it did what it was intended to do – it stopped root disease. 
In the last 10 years there have been many advances in understanding what microbes are in soil, and what they are doing. This has largely come about because of the so-called DNA revolution. By using this DNA technology, we can now see exactly what changes occur in soil microbiology when BioprimeTM is applied. 
 How is it made ? 
BioprimeTM is made by fermentation of molasses using baker’s yeast. This sounds really simple, but there are a number of factors involved to make it work. 
The amount of oxygen in the fermentation determines how much alcohol, acid or CO2 is made from the sugar in molasses. BioprimeTM is made with the amount of air carefully controlled in order to make a maximum amount of both alcohols and acids. These then condense to form esters. BioprimeTM is full of esters. 
With BioprimeTM we want lots of yeast, so nutrients are added to make the yeast grow quickly. At the end of the process we have a lot of biomass, because just like in Vegemite, yeast biomass contains a lot of protein and vitamins. 
The fermentation which makes BioprimeTM doesn’t stop completely, it slows down as it becomes pickled in its own acids. We then arrest the process by bursting the yeast cells, making a stable, long-life product. 
 How does it work ? 
Looking at soil microbiology using DNA shows it is very complex. There are tens of thousands of different species in each gram of soil. There is no point in looking at any single species, for they all seem to come and go with changing seasons and conditions. 
Instead we look at the major groups and the diversity within each group. We look at 5 major groups:
<ul>
<li>Proteobacteria: These are simple, fast growing bacteria (formerly called gram negatives), can dominate anaerobic (no oxygen) environments, live off simple organic matter – they generally don’t do your soil much good.</li>
<li>Fermicutes: More complex, also fast growing (formerly called gram positives), some are important pathogens, can be anaerobic or aerobic, also don’t do soil much good.</li>
<li>Archea: These are tough and ancient life forms, slow growing, but live in extreme environments (hot, salty, acidic etc). Their importance in soil was only realised with DNA methods. They build up to significant numbers in cultivated soil.</li>
<li>Actinobacteria: These are quite complex bacteria which are involved in soil carbon dynamics. They are slow growing but feisty, as they are the chemical warfare specialists in soil. (Most of the antibiotics and drugs we use come from this group). When there are plenty present, root pathogens are suppressed.</li>
<li>Fungi: These are more complex than bacteria, and fall into two groups, the lower fungi are mainly moulds, and the higher fungi, the Dikarya are the mushrooms and the mycorrhyza.</li>
</ul>
The more diverse a soil’s microbial population, the healthier it is. All the above five groups should be present, but because the Actinobacteria and Fungi are beneficial to plant growth, high diversity in these groups is particularly important. 
When BioprimeTM is added to soil, the Actinobacteria and Dikarya get a boost because they get a dose of vitamins. The proteobacteria get suppressed, firstly because the way they communicate with each other, a process called quorum sensing, is interrupted. Secondly, they can’t grow s easily on the complex esters, but higher bacteria and fungi can. 
When we look at the way group diversity changes, we see short term and longer term impacts. In the short term, anaerobic bacteria are quickly suppressed. Then we see Dikarya and Actinobacteria start to build up numbers. 
These changes mean the best time to use BioprimeTM is when you sow your crop, then again once it is established – at the two to four leaf stage. 
In moist soil, grains take a few days to imbibe water and start to germinate. During this time, the presence of proteobacteria can be harmful, as they can feed on the exudates produced by a germinating seed and make a local anaerobic zone in wet soil, slowing down emergence. On the other hand, you want Dikarya active, for within this group are the mycorrhyzal fungi which colonize roots and help plant phosphorous uptake. There is plenty of competition in soil, so the quicker they can colonise the root, the more likely they will persist. 
There are a number of important pathogenic organisms which lurk in soil, and they often go unnoticed until stress hits the plant. An important control against pathogens is the Actinobacteria which feed on the pathogens. They also antagonise the simple bacteria which mineralise nitrogen. 
So BioprimeTM does quite a lot of things, all of which are good for the ability of soil to support healthy plant growth. 
 How much to use ? 
The optimal application rate depends on two important factors, pH and soil organic matter. 
BioprimeTM works best at a soil pH of 7 – and this is the point of optimal plant nutrient availability. We always advise to lime soil to get it to pH 7 – because we now we realise this is also the point of maximum microbial diversity. 
At a pH of 7, you only need to apply 3 liters per hectare at each application to get a maximal response. If the pH is lower, you get a better response by applying more – 5 liters per hectare at pH 4.5 – 5.5, and 4 liters per hectare at pH 5.5 – 6.5. 
The amount of organic matter in soil also influences the best application rate, but in a complex way. At low soil organic matter (under 0.5% organic carbon), a low rate works well (but adjusted for pH). If your soil carbon is between 0.5 – 1.5%, it takes a bit more for maximal impact because there is more background microbes living off that carbon, so you apply about 50% more. But if your soil carbon is very good (say 1.5 – 2.5%), you can drop the rate back again. If organic carbon is above 2.5% - you are blessed, and you soil is likely to already be very healthy and it is unlikely BioprimeTM will give you a further benefit. The following table summarises the best application rate.

How to apply BioprimeTM 
If you have a liquid system on your drill rig, it is best to apply BioprimeTM as a spray into the drill row after the press wheel. Simply dilute the volume you need in sufficient water to get even spread. 
Application with a boom spray just before seeding is an acceptable alternative. Again, simply dilute BioprimeTM with water to get even spread. 
Once your crop is up and established, the second application can be with a boom spray. BioprimeTM is acidic and completely water soluble, so it is compatible with most chemicals (but check first with a jar test). 
 Bad Start ? 
Sometimes the seasons are unkind – sow dry and no rain comes, or too much rain comes and paddocks waterlog. BioprimeTM opens an opportunity window for about 3 weeks. If you dry sow and it hasn’t rained in the first three weeks, it is probably worth another application once it rains. Likewise if things get too wet and the crop starts to get stressed and yellow, another application of BioprimeTM will help it get back on its feet. 
 Seeing BioprimeTM at work 
We always encourage you to sow a bit of your crop without BioprimeTM so you can see it at work. You should see earlier emergence, and once the crop is established, compare the root structure between treated and untreated areas. If you believe root structure is important, you will be impressed. 
If you want to get into detail, Bioscience provides an assay of soil microbial diversity which is a world first. Send us a 50 g sample of soil (sampled properly from the top 150 mm, and put into a refrigerator and send it to us on ice). We extract the DNA, then measure how many types of microbes are present in significant numbers in each of the 5 major groups. From this we can derive a biodiversity index and a health index. If you are interested in soil biology and soil health, this leading-edge assay can show you how your soil changes from year to year, guiding you with information on what treatments work and what doesn’t. 
 Is there anything else like BioprimeTM ? 
There are a number of products which come and go which make claims about improving soil health. They never come with a technical description of what they are, and they never come with field trial data. Usually there are lots of testimonials from someone in Utah or New Delhi, and there are pictures of a guy holding big onions in one hand and small onions in the other. 
We take notice when farmers start talking positively about getting a good response from a product, so we go out and buy some and pull it apart in our lab. There are only two we have found which are somewhat similar. TM21, made by Best in Canada is fermented molasses, but it is lot thinner, and poorly stabilised – smells a bit putrid compared to BioprimeTM . Vitazyme is made in the USA, but it is fermented corn syrup rather than molasses, but for some odd reason they add vitamin D to it (even though there is no known function for Vitamin D in anything other than higher vertebrates! 
But the huge difference is the price. 
 What does BioprimeTM Cost and How Do I Get It ? 
Getting BioprimeTM is easy. You buy it online direct from the manufacturer. It is only sold in 1000L IBC’s for $2 per liter (FOB). 
If you have your own IBC’s, drop them off and we will fill them up. If you don’t, you will have to pay $150 for a serviceable second hand one.

Bit of context.... Every week I host a pub quiz which has two projected elements onto screens in the bar. One is a ten-question round of pictures, the other is a leader-board where the positions of the teams get ranked.
Up to now everything has been done in Powerpoint, but because Keynote effects are that much prettier (I mean... wow!) I've decided to switch over.
Trouble is, for the leader-board I can't find a way to display the placings of the teams in reverse order - i.e. start with the team (or teams) in last place showing at the bottom of the slide and then bring in the next team (or teams) in third, second, etc above them.
It's the one thing I've found so far that's a doddle to do in Powerpoint but I can't see a way of doing it in Keynote.
My only thought is to do separate and multiple text boxes with their own builds, but that's a bit more fiddly than I'd like. (For one thing I don't know how many I'd need before the start of marking, whereas bullets auto-number.)
So... for my first post here I thought I'd ask if anyone had any brilliant ideas? Or am I cursed to use Keynote and Powerpoint at the same time?

I wouldn't use Powerpoint again... that way lies madness.
I don't think there's a way to do exactly what you're asking. I just fiddled around with the builds myself and couldn't get a numbered list to reverse-build. But there are a couple of things you could consider doing. Firstly, have you thought about making your list with the last-place team at the top of the slide and building down? I'm sure you've thought of it, but it seems a minor design change to me.
The second, more complicated thing you could do is that you could set each bullet point as its own separate text box, and then you could build them in in any order you'd like. This will require a bit of setup the first time, but I'm sure you're just using the same template and typing over the information anyway. I'd make Arrange > Align Objects my best friend if I did that.

Converting Paragraphs into Bullet Points

Previous to Leopard I was using Microsoft Entourage as my mail client. With the release of Leopard I migrated to Apple Mail. In Entourage you could highlight a series of paragraphs and turn them into bullet points. (I am unsure whether this same feature existed in the Tiger mail application.)
When I tried to perform this same operation in Leopard Mail it didn't work. I was left with one empty bullet point above the text that had been highlighted. When I tried to fill in that empty bullet point by copying and pasting the text I hoped to use for the first bullet point that initial procedure was successful. However, when I attempted to cut and past the text I hoped to use for the second bullet point the first bullet point and its accompanying text disappeared.
That was not a good conclusion to my efforts.
Did Tiger Mail allow you to highlight paragraphs and turn them into bullet points? Is that a capability that has now been lost in Leopard Mail?
Is there any way in Leopard Mail to convert pre-existing paragraphs of text into bullet points?

The steps Zoooot suggested might also work. Post captivate 5 release we have two releases where we fixed/improved lot of issues related to PPTX import. I would also suggest you to download a trial of Captivate 6 and try the PPTX workflow, and let us know your thoughts regarding your usecase.

Can I have an image "hidden" under each bullet point?

Is there a way to do a standard highlighted bullet point build-in such as:

| Native trees in our area:
| - Poplar
| - Oak
| - Maple
|
but when I play the presentation, after each of the bullet point is highlighted, the next slide is a photo of the item in question. In other words, the slides would play as such:
1:

| Native trees in our area:
| - Poplar
|
2:
|
| <show photo of the poplar>
|
3:
|
| Native trees in our area:
| - Poplar
| - Oak
|
4:
|
| <show photo of the oak>
|
etc...
Right now I am duplicating the main text slide multiple time and adding a new bullet each time manually but I was wondering if there is a more efficient way to do that. Just like when using the Highlighted bullet Build-In feature but with a photo in between each bullet.

However, a larger photo, can accomodate text of 8 lines with plenty space to display a full hight single photo.

Indeed. But I need to photo to change with each bullet point.
Thats allready covered in the first post, but I made a complete set using 8 bullet points for 8 full screen pictures. The first bullet point and picture are shown with the build details.

Has anyone worked out Bullet Point Indentation?

Lets say i have four bullet point list of text. Some of the text goes on for two or three lines how do you sort this issue of getting them aligned?

• Sample text here. This text goes on to
the second line. So it is not aligned as it should be.
• Sample text here
The only way i cold achieve this was to create a second text box which only contains the bullet points and place that next to it. But there has to be an easier way. Anyone?

InDesign importing Word bullet points - how to stop it?

Hi,
I'm having problems with bullet images when I import a Word document into InDesign. When I import a Word document into InDesign, it imports the Word bullet point in as well, overwriting the paragraph style I had set up in InDesign for lists which will use a specific bullet point. I've mapped the styles when importing, and it still happens. Although, there's a plus sign next to that paragraph style in the palette.
I found that InDesign creates a folder in Character Styles palette named "Styles for Word/RTF Imported Lists" and created a style called "Word Imported List Style1" in there for the bullet points.
Is there a setting I can select to force InDesign to use only the InDesign styles?
Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated!
I'm using InDesign CS3 (Version 5.0.3) on Windows XP.

I don't think there's any setting that can make InDesign override the Word bullets automatically, but there are two workarounds I can think of.
For lists already in InDesign:
1. Select all the text and choose Clear Overrides from the Paragraph Style menu. It's not an instant solution, especially if you have overrides in the text around the lists, but it does work.
For stuff you haven't imported yet:
2. Change your Word Import Options to include Convert Bullets and Numbers To Text. Your bulleted items will then have both kinds of bullets. Do a Find/Change to replace the converted Word bullet and tab to nothing.
