Fade not working

I cannot get fade out at the end of a clip; using the Rt click/Fade/fade Video out or Fade Audio out.
I've consulted the manual and a search on "Fade" and "Fade in" brings up nothing relative to that menue option; it just talks about transitions.
How does the option know what end to apply a Fade to?  It seems to be working on the front end of the clip on track 1, but not that back end.  How can I tell if a Fade has been applied to a clip, and how do I remove a Fade?
I have a couple short clips on track 2 where the Fade; at the end of the clip, seems to be working.
fyi the Audio/Visual in tracks 1 and 2 of my clips have been unlinked, and the audio has been removed from the clips on track 2.

Do you confirm that at this time, your only problem is with the one clip that you have targeted in your screenshot? I want to make sure of that so I am posting a mark up of your screenshot.
If this is the case,
Yes, that is the only clip that is refusing to respond to Fade.
a. Can you add your own Opacity Keyframe at the end of that clip by holding down the Ctrl key of the computer main keyboard and clicking with your mouse cursor on the spot where you want the Opacity keyframe to go?
Great!  I had no idea, that solves a lot of problems I've had with missing keyframes when I use Fade; which; seems to me, is just very squirrely! Look at some the wierd behaviours I've captured in the collection of screenshots!
http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1tydAAiJnrMwOmFi34V6rc5G43z3us0
To get around them I added transisitons and used the "Adjust" options.
b. Have you been adding these Fades Video or Audio In and/or Out solely at the Timeline level by right clicking the video clip and selecting Fade followed by the wanted option?
Yes
what happens if you highlight the clip, go to Applied Effects Palette/Opacity Panel, expand the Opacity Panel to see its options, and click on the Fade Out there?
This has been my work around.  When I do that I get the results I desire.  I think you suggestion of using the Ctrl key to put a keyframe in place will also help in working with the squirrely Fade feature.
Another supportive information might be right clicking the video in its middle if you are indeed right clicking at the extreme right edge of the video for the Fade Out. You can right click the video at its beginning, select Fade Out, and still you will get the Opacity keyframe toward the end of that video.
That's a good approach, but I'm pretty certain there are no "slivers"  I just went through and snipped specific locations in my sound track, then ran Fade on them; so there was no change for a "sliver".
Well, I have finished my video and I am very happy with it.  Thanks for your patient support, as usual (-:  I have learned a lot in this effort, but you will; no doubt, be hearing from me again

    Hi,
I have a basic alpha motion fade which works using my flashplayer but not in flash players less than version 10 (no fade is present its just instantly there). If I change the player I am developing for in my movie settings the fade just does not work.

    Hey there,
Could you describe the setup or link a file with the problem?  I can't reproduce the problem with basic fades (obviously they should continue to work when you switch the player).  Is it just in the document you're working on, or all documents you create?
    Thanks,
    Jen.

  • Audio fade not working in compound clip

How are you doing? When I have a compound clip of multiple audio files, the fade handle doesn't seem to be affecting the audio like it did before the update.
    Below is an example...

actually, that audio compound clip is not inside the compound clip. What you are seeing is multiple audio files compounded together. When I do this, the fade does not work. I can automate the level line, but the fade handles are ineffective.

  • Appear/Fade not working in IE

Please help.  I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 and have used the appear/fade effect to fade-in a div of text links.  The links fade-in fine in all browsers, except IE, where they don't come through all the way and look blotchy.  Is there an IE workaround for this problem?  Thanks

    Hi,
I'm not sure why the slide effect is not working but the blotchy text problem can be fixed by adding to the class or id the font-family: "MS Sans Serif"; in your css

  • Fades not working on imported music

I have just recently bought the iMac and created a 34 minute movie in iMovie. Everything was going great until just recently. I can't tell you why, but I all of the sudden lost the audio for most of the songs I had imported into my movie from ITunes. The green bars were still in my project, but the music wouldn't play back when I played the movie or skimmed over the clips. So, I have started deleting the music tracks and inserting these once again. However, an additional problem has arrived. When I import the music clips, I do get the sound back. However, the fades and audio adjustments do not seem to be working on these songs. In other words, I can insert these again to get the sound back, but I can't seem to add any effects to these through the audio adjustments window (i.e. fading, decreasing/increasing volume, etc.) The only two things I can remember doing that would have impacted the program right before this happened was to upgrade iTunes and choose to "clean up the selection" on my hard drive from the desktop. Does anyone know if either of these two things could have some how broke the links to the songs? If not, anyone have an idea of what happened? Does anyone know how I can get the audio adjustments to work on these songs again? HELP. I don't want to start over.

Hi, Sachin_925. Since the access to Nokia Music is no longer available through the Nokia Music Player, downloading of songs using this computer (PC) app will not be supported. You can still download and listen to music files here: http://www.mixrad.io/
    Hope this helps.

  • Slide fade not working in Captivate 5

    Hello all -
The project I'm creating requires fading in on slides. I've set the slides to fade, and when viewed the slides do not in fact fade. I've heard of a workaround that by accessing the dropdown menu under Transition and selecting another fade (which one is not relevant to the trick) that when fade is re-selected the fade behaves as expected. This hasn't been useful in this case. I've also cleared the cache thinking perhaps that would be helpful. This trick was also not a resolution.
Thanks in advance to anyone with a suggestion to resolve this issue!

  • Cross fades not working in flex mode.

    Hey there,
i have an audio region in Logic Pro X (latest update) that's using the flex pitch mode. When I want to cross fade it with another region, it just doesn't work. Seems to be a bug or am I wrong?
    Greetings,
    R. Philipp

Me too. Does the fade tool move your region las if you just had the cursor selected?
Looks like there are quite a few threads on this topic to check out.

  • Fades not working

Hi there, I'm on 8.0.1. In the middle of a session, the fade function stopped working. it still draws in the fades, but doesn't produce any result. I've tried deleting all fade files, but it doesn't fix it.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers.

forget it. had melodyne running and it overrides any fades you add later. my bad.

  • Text fade not working when published

I am doing a text fade the same way I always have (or so it
seems) and it looks fine when I scrub the play head or play in the
program but when I test the movie the fade doesn't work. I've done
and redone this and still the same results. I have the text as a
graphic symbol, set alpha in one frame to 0 and to 100 in the other
frame, did the motion tween. I am guessing the problem lies in some
sort of publish setting but I have compared the settings between
this project and one that works fine and can't seem to find any
    differences. Ideas?

    Is the text static?

  • Fade In/Out not working

    Hi
Applying Fade Ins or Outs seemed to have stopped working. Using either the crossfade tool or specifying them in the Inspector, they appear graphically correct, but audio-wise, no fade.
Crossfading between regions is working fine.
    Using ordinary uncompressed mono aifs.
Haven't used Logic for a couple of months, so wondered if something has broken/changed in the last couple of minor updates.
Are there any factors, other than audio file-type, that will prevent fades from working?
Using Logic 9.1.3 on OS 10.6.5
    Thanks for any feedback
    Steve

    Hi
I'd do a boatload of simpler troubleshooting before I did a complete re-install!
Try these steps when you have some downtime:
    1) Only a specific project affected, or same for any (including starting from a default blank template rather than any user-made one)?
Specific project.... corrupted or other problem?, any project... "Logic" problem?
    2)
Login as a different user (if need be make a new user account with 'Admin' access). Repeat test 1
If the problem goes away, it's likely Logic Preferences in the original user account are corrupted.
(Note there could be other reasons.... ! )

  • Imovie 09 fade in & out not working!

hello all, I'm new to the forum. So i was editing these movies right? and the fades were working perfect with the mp3s. so i finish THAT project and started a new one and the fades don't work anymore, and a open a NEW project and they didn't work either. have a mac mini with 4gb ram at 667 mhtz. all of the sudden the fades stop working for these SEPARATED mp3 files. (separated meaning they are NOT audio files that were DETACHED from the video. They are just ADDED mp3 (music) files as background music). so what gives people?!

they are all true. i CLEARLY state that. all i did was try different methods to fix the issue and ONE of them worked temporarily. just keep in mind that MY mp3s, wav, aif, caf, m4v or whatever EXTRA audio i'm adding to the clips aren't working. and by EXTRA i mean background sounds/music and such. sorry to sound blunt, but instead of asking me all these questions (so that we can find a solution faster) is there something that shouldn't be done or something that is causing this issue? is there a certain quicktime i should have? or certain codec?
i believe its easier to STATE something that can cause a problem to ANY specific situation regardless of the situation, rather than ask a bunch of questions that can relate to the problem. this way, the "helper" can provide the "need" with INSTANT information and can cut the process in half. see what i mean?
don't get offended, i'm not trying to be an a$$. its hard to sound friendly in text form. i'll add some smileys
but yea, back to my problem. i did manage to fix it for like two minutes, but the problem came back. should i reinstall?

  • CS5 Aplha Fade Out Not Working

Has anyone encountered the alpha fade in CS5 not working when fading a graphic out? Example, I want to fade out a graphic symbol from 100% to 0%. When I try to make my fade to 0%, the alpha slider snaps to 100%. Hopefully someone can help out.

Okay, I think it's faster with a visual. Let's focus on the "train" layer. As you see I have four keyframes, the first set fades up from 0 to 100 and the last set is supposed to fade out from 100 to 0 but the the last keyframe where the playhead is, won't go to 0.

  • Effect curves/fades handles not working

Im using a "Dazzle" effect on a video Im editing and I want to change the fade in/fade out effect..
    Heres what I mean:
Final Cut Pro X: Adjust effect curves using fade handles or keyframe animation
However.. when I choose to export the file, the effects do not work!
They will work when I play the video in the program but not when I export it.. I dont understand what is wrong.. anyone know what could be wrong??

TThat was fixed in an update. Can't remember which one.

  • Fade in Fade out not working on Rollover Image for Captivate 6

    Hi
I am totally baffled with this issue.  When I use Fade in 0.5 sec and Fade Out 0.5 seconds on a rollover image, it will not work.  I even changed the default on my preferences for rollover images and it still will not work and does not show in my accordian panel in properties.
If I use Captivate 5, I do not have any problem.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jeff

Are you forgetting that a rollover object has two parts?  It has a hit area and the object that appears when you mouse over the hit area. Each part can have different settings in the Properties tab. In a  rollover caption, the object that appears is a text caption.  In a rollover image, the object is an image.
If you select the rollover object on the timeline, the Properties you see for it in the Properties tab are for the hit area.  So having fade in or fade out set there will not affect the object that appears on mouseover.
If you select the caption or image on the stage in Edit mode, the properties shown in the Properties tab are for that specific object and can be different from the hit area of the same rollover object.
In your case, make sure that your image is set to have fade in or fade out.  Fading on a hit area of a rollover object is not really useful at all.

  • Audio fade in and  out in imovie 11 with a transition not working

When I fade audio out and fade audio in imovie 11 with a transition in between the fade would not work. If I remove the transition they would work. How can I fix this. If i reinstall life 11 would it lose my would or repair the issue.

I am having the same problem. I found a decent workaround:
At the point where you want to fade out, record a voiceover (using a mic) of silence. In other words, cover the microphone and record nothing for a second or two.
Then go into the audio settings for this voiceover and select the "ducking" checkbox, and change the setting so that all other tracks go to 0% sound when the voiceover is playing. The ducking feature has a built-in fader, so this way, when the silent voiceover comes on, it fades out the other track(s)--effectively giving you a fade-out effect on any concurrent track.
Not a perfect solution but can help...good luck!
