Fade tool click zone?

Has anyone made this work? The marquee tool click zone works but the fade tool click zone doesn't.

ok it does work. you only have like half a millimeter at the top edge of the region to make the tool engage. it's fiddly but it does work.

These are great and I use them all the time, but I do have a problem with the top and bottom arrangement. Just lately I have been spending a bit more time in Pro tools (hence the multi tool) and have suddenly realised upon jumping back into Logic land, that they are almost the opposite of each other. For example
Logic : the bottom half of the region is the Marquee tool
Pro Tools: the bottom half selects the entire region.
    .... and vice versa..
Has anyone else grappled with this and hoped to be able to invert the Logic tool?

Hmm, false alarm, it seems to have bizarrely just started working again. Fair enough then.

  • Fade Tool Problem

Yet another confusion, sorry for prevailing upon you again AOS but I know you will have the answer. In the same project I had the loop problem, I am trying to use a fade on one region. The region is an audio track (live guitar) flattened and flex is off. I can make the fade graphic with the fade tool or in the inspector but I can't hear the fade. It is a simple long fade out and I have used this many times in the past. If I take all effects off I can hear the fade working so I guess it is the effects that are triggering after the fade. So my question is is there a simple way to use the fade tool and include the effects on the strip or do I have to use automation to get my fade?

Region fades and automation fades are slightly different animals. Both have their ups and downs. I have had trouble with region fades, too. If you have to use a region fade, here are some a few workarounds I have used when dealing with buggy region fades:
Use the delete All Fade Files command under the Mix Menu in Logic X. Close and reopen the song. This will force Logic to re-render the fades.
Drag the fade edge of the region slightly to change the region size.
Click to select the region. then manually enter the fade in the Region Inspector (Main Window, press I to show inspector, then click the disclosure triangle to show the Region Inspector, then click the More disclosure triangle.) You can enter the fade time in milliseconds (1000 ms = 1 sec). Yes, it's a lot of trouble to do it this way but you can shift+click multiple regions and apply a fade to all of them with this method; useful for multi-track/drum editing.
Occasionally. I have noticed that fades "disappear" from the regions. The inspector lets me check to see if they're still there and it's a display error. Save, close, re-open will usually fix it.

  • Fade Tool problems! help please!!

I've noticed that when I'm editing audio files and cut out silences, I'm left with a loud clicking noise. So to solve this problem, I used the fade tool (esc 0) and faded out the ending of every single region which took a ridiculous amount of time to do.
This solved the problem, but I'm wondering is there a way to have all recorded audio automatically have a fade at the end of the region? I know that in other programs such as Reaper this is a function that can be turned on or off but is there a way to do this in logic to save time?
    please help! thanks!

This is also where you turn normal fades into speed up/slow down fades (in L9) - click-hold on the word 'fade', and in general is a good thing to get in the habit of looking at.
For instance: Say you have drag mode set to X-fade, and you are dragging regions around and enjoying some automatic crossfading action. Great. Super. Now you decide this one particular region is not going to cross fade between two regions but is gonna be all by itself somewhere else. You still want to apply fades to it, but now they don't work with the fade tool. Look at the Inspector and you'll see that region has EqPower (or the abbreviation). So you have to change it to "out" and you're good to go.

  • Fade Tool

The fade tool no longer works. Trying to do an X-fade but when I click it turns into a hand and will only move the region. Is this happening to anyone else? It was happening in the last version of Logic Pro 9 as well.

Yeah, same her. If Flex/Pitch is activated, you can't fade in or out. If you deactivate Flex, you can fade. If you switch back to Flex then your fade is gone. Seems to be a bug

  • Can't turn off Fader tool

Hey all!  I've just updated to Logic X about a month ago. During my session, I've been cutting, pasting, and editing between two audio tracks, comping two bass tracks sent to me from an outside source. I've been using the fader tool to smooth out the 'pops' and clicks with no problem. When I was ready to change back to using the Marquee tool, I was unable to move or cut the audio on either track. Even though the Marquee Tool is highlighted, it still acts as if I'm using the Fade tool. Has anyone experienced this problem before and if so, is there a solution? Thanks for your help!

Update: Just figured it out! At some point, I've enabled the Marquee tool on the left click side. It should have been the 'pointer' setting. My bad!

  • A trick to using fade tool?

Is there a special way that you need to click and drag using the fade tool to create a fade? i can't get it to work

Click on the background and drag the selection onto the region you wish to fade.
Either:"Fade Out ending here (click) and starting (drag) here (release). "
or "Fade in beginning here (click) ending (drag) here (release)."

  • How do I set up a track that my fade tool will work on?????

I'm trying to do fades on my tacks using the fade tool.
I open a new track, record something and go to tools and pick the fade tool.
But it's not letting me do a fade at the start or the end of a track.
I go to the inspector window and look at the Region Parameter Box.
There I notice that there was not much info in the Region Parameter Box in the inspector window, just (loop, delay, follow tempo)
On other tracks from the templets in logic 9 I could do a fade in and with the fade tool, but I notice the Region Parameter Box in the inspector window had a bunch more info like,
(loop, delay, gain, fade in, curve, fade out, follow tempo)
So how do I set up the track that has all that info in the inspector windows Region Parameter Box,
then I could do my fades with my fade tool.
    Thanks for the help..........LEROX

  • Disable right click zone w/ 18.0.7.34 driver?

Is it possible to disable the right click zone on the Thinkpad Yoga touchpad (bottom right area) when using the Synaptic Touchpad driver v. 18.0.7.34? I'm sure there's personal prefernce, but I find the right click zone makes the touchpad very finicky to use.
It looks like this used to be possible in previous driver versions? Can it be done via registry?
Happy I am able to disble tapping and edge swipe gestures. Lots of customizations possible...just need this last fix to make this touchpad awesome and a real competitor to the bar Apple has set.

I've encountered the same problem on the T440s. I found a workaround and posted the solution over at my blog. Maybe you can try what I tried and it will work on your machine as well.

  • Fade Tool Problems... Grrr

I have recorded my guitar, added effects and I want to use the fade tool but when I add the fade, it has no effect on the audio. Does any one know what the story is?

I never said GB mode was an issue, that was just an aside.
The only time fades do not work on audio regions is if a Flex mode is enabled on the track. You'd have to turn on Flex View to check that.

  • Using the Fade tool in Logic 9

I am a newbe and need some help. I can use the Fade tool just fine on single audio tracks. However, I am unable to figure out how to use the Fade tool on audio tracks with multiple takes??? The Fade "<" appears when I move the cursor to the top of the track but wen is swipe to invoke a Fade, I get other behavior such as moving the track.
    What am I missing.
    Thanks in advance
    Dan

Thanks Christian. That did it. Appreciate taking the time for my simple question.

  • Fade tool use?

I'm trying to fade something out, and am dragging the fade tool into the audio region, but nothing happens. Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

They also only work on uncompressed files, like AIFF or WAV. If you're using an MP3 or AAC, you have to convert it first. You can do that in the bin using the 'Copy/Convert Files' command.

  • Fade Tool Not Working At All!!!

I've read every post about this issue thus far and none of them has helped. I am not using Apple Loops Files F.Y.I., Im not using multiple takes of audio so lets clear that up first. All I am trying to do is use the **** fade tool on a single track of Audio. I have tried converting to every audio file format I changed the advanced settings...etc...etc.. still no Fade Tool!! why is the fade tool so **** elussive?? Please...anyone this really annoying

On my machine it is even worse. Logic crashes every time when I select the Fade Out command and that is on a new Project, just with one new Region. It happens on both machines, an iMac and MacBOok, both with the most recent OSX 10.9.4 (BTW, same crash behavior on the Yosemite beta version)
