"faded" output when converting a FRAPS recording to H.264

I recorded a video with FRAPS using normal mode (not RGB capture) and now I'm having the issue where video looks "faded" or "washed out" after I convert it to H.264. I've read in other forums that this is a colorspace issue. In Squeeze Desktop I was able to fix the issue by adding a color correction filter and then checking the box that said "Flag as 16 to 235 color range." Is there any way to do something similar in Adobe Media Encoder? or any way to flag the video without using Squeeze Desktop so that it can be properly converted in Adobe Media Encoder?

I tried using "High" but the results were the same. I made a recording of the recording with FRAPS to be able to send you a small file and in the process of doing so I discovered something interesting. It seems that when I record with FRAPS, the recorded video looks a little darker than the source. Then I realized that if I select the option in FRAPS to "Force lossless RGB capture" the recorded video looks identical to the source and also, it doesn't get "faded" when converted in Adobe Media Encoder.

When Converting DVC Pro HD to H.264 does it retain the 4 2 2 color space?

I have some 1080i green screen footage shot on HVX200 on DVC Pro HD codec. My client is editing in Premier Pro on Windows and of course cannot view this footage. Now rather than purchase DV Film's Raylight so he can view the footage, he wants me to convert it to the H.264 1920x1080 codec so that his software will view it.
So here is my question: When converting this footage, does the H.264 codec keep the original color space of DVC Pro HD? I want him to have an easier time of green screening his footage with the 4 2 2 color space of DVC Pro HD and simply wanted to be informed whether it would cross over in the conversion? Thanks

H.264 isn't an editing codec. He can see it, but edit it? Well, I guess Premiere might. H.264 is highly compressed, and I doubt it will key well.
Send him the ORIGINAL P2 files...the stuff you offloaded from the card. Premiere can work with P2, just not after they have been imported into FCP.
Please tell me you kept the original P2 card dumps.

Why does spot EPS not output when converted to CMYK or grayscale?

Apologies if this is a known issue but I can't find it anywhere... I'm using AI CS3 (13.0.2) on an Intel iMac/Os 10.5.4 and I can't figure out why a white logo made from text outlines outputs fine to PDF if I use a spot color but if I change it to grayscale or CMYK, part of the logo doesn't output at all.
The part which self-destructs is a supplied roundel of Caflisch text which has been converted to outlines (unfortunately I don't have the font on my system to do any deep testing). Another part of the supplied logo is a line drawing which outputs fine in any color mode.
So I'm really looking for something to explain why the text part of this roundel outputs fine as a spot color but disappears from view when converted to CMYK or grayscale. I have been placing the file in a Quark 7.1 document and then exporting to PDF but I see the same problem when using the Flattener Preview.

Sorry for talking to myself like this -- been doing it for years...
Finally found out what was wrong: the submitting designer had set the white coloured text objects to overprint. When I set them to knock out all was well.
Kudos to Acrobat Pro Preflight for pinpointing the problem.

If the box beside Run Action is not checked, then you don't have any actions running when the Image Processor runs
and you probably don't want the Run Action box checked unless you want to do some adjustments to all the processed images
The name of the action can be any one that is loaded in the actions panel in cs5 and not always Image Effects.
Sometimes one has that checked and forgets about it and wonders why processed images are turning out strange.

Excel Output when Converting 6i Reports to 10g

I am attempting to convert about 25 reports from Oracle Reports 6i to Oracle Reports 10g (10.1.0.4.2). The existing 6i system uses the Oracle Portal for job submission. The report server and our Oracle database are on Sun/Sparc/UNIX computers for both 6i and 10g. We have no space issues. In 10g, users will submit reports from Oracle Forms, running on Windows desktops.
I am an experienced programmer in Windows reports and forms using MS-Access and Visual Basic. I am new to Oracle Reports and Forms.
The existing 6i reports were set up so that a single report can be generated in either PDF or Excel format by just changing the DESFORMAT parameter from PDF to DELIMITED. We also have multiple optional parameters. In 10g, I cannot get the Excel to generate when there are groupings or summaries in the PDF version.
In the 6i version, headers, footers, and summary lines were enabled or disabled in appropriate triggers through PL/SQL code:(IF :DESFORMAT = ‘DELIMITED’ THEN RETURN TRUE/FALSE;). •     Changed triggers from :DESFORMAT = ‘DELIMITED’ to :DESFORMAT = ‘SPREADSHEET’; also tried deleting these triggers altogether
In hopes of getting something to work, I rewrote a report for Excel only, but it will only accept one parameter. When multiple parameters are provided, it displays the correct data, but in paper layout.
In the 10g version that is for Excel only, we use the following URL:

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I don't think I need to use the Forms Migration tool since the form has already been migrated from 6i to 10G. (Since I am now using an existing 10G form rather than trying to convert my 6i form.) I will check the FORMS_PATH. Is that in my registry file? I'm pretty sure the library has been compiled in 10G since it is attached to the other 10G forms I have and they work fine. But, just in case, how do I compile the library? And back to the FORMS_PATH: I still have the 6i version of Forms Builder on my PC. Will changing the path affect using 6i? Probably yes.

Losing contrast and color when converting Motion JPEG OpenDML to H.264

Hey
I have a Canon IXUS 850 IS which makes "Motion JPEG OpenDML" movies.
The files are kind of big, so I am trying to convert to a better codec.
But when I try converting to H.264 with Quicktime Pro 7 I always loose color intenseness so basically contrast.
Not sure if its a general problem or a settings problem.
I am converting at 2000 kbit/s, key frame automatic and MultiPass
with no restricted profiles.
Anybody have an idea how I could compress this video without loosing so much image quality?
If you want to see what I mean, ceck out the original and the converted video in my .mac public folder in the folder "Motion JPEG OpenDML".

Well I seem to have found a solution instead of converting to mp4 I am converting to mov with h.264 codec.
The conversion it a lot better if I select best quality the quality is as good as the original but the file size gets even bigger than the original actuaqlly double the size.
When I select low quality I get about the same size and quality as when I convert to mp4.
In the end what I find strange is, why mp4 makes automatically a "low" quality compression and there is now setting to change the quality.
Really a bit strange but at least I have now found somewhat of a solution.

If you using data source as flat file, nothing related with some other data sources.
and also LOG_SYS is not needed in the transformation.
Remove that link (LOG_SYS), Which is in the transformation.
After that you will not get that error message.

We are loading transaction data. Data load till PSA is succcessful but when we are loading from PSA to CUBE its is failing.
The error message is "Return code 4- when converting field CUSTOMER in record"
I have checked Transfer Rule, Update Rule it is simple object to object assignment. Data in PSA is also correct.
What could be the reason?

Different output when saving and converting Word documents

Hi,
I have some issues with images when converting some Word documents to PDF and I hope someone can enlighten me :-). If I convert the Word document by simply right clicking on it and selecting the option to Convert To Adobe PDF, it will create a file that is mostly fine, with the exception of some of the images which are being split into segments, making the image text unreadable.
However, if I save the file as PDF in Microsoft Word (both 2010 or 2013), then I have no such an issue, since the image is not being split into segments and the text is perfectly readable. I have also attached some examples, see below. Ideally I would like to be able to convert several Word documents at once, and saving each documents in Microsoft Word would be too time consuming. Any help on this, will be really appreciated.

What is better when converting analog video for FCE, Canopus100/110/300/or500? I have a new MACPRO with FCE HD and I wanted to convert some of my older video that was recorded on a HI8 Camcorder... Thanks.

I have the ADVC-100 (older model) and ADVC-110. They are identical except that the ADVC-110 does not come with an AC power adapter. Currently sells for about $220USD. If all you need to do is convert from HI8 tapes, the ADVC100/110 will do the job quite nicely.
The ADVC300 adds some enhancements for video signal cleanup, but at a higher price. Currently sells for about $450USD. The ADVC500 is overkill for home use.

Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
- a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
- other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

Controlling the output when purhcsae order item is deleted

Here is our scenario, we have two outputs automatically determined ( by condition records) when a purhcase order is changed, now when we delete the purchse order item we want only one put type to be triggered and not the other one.
NEU - When the PO line item is deleted we want trigger this output
NEU1 - When the PO line item is deleted we dont want to trigger this output
Obviously we cannot use "Fields Relevant to Printouts of Changes" config to deactivate the EKPO-LOEKZ field as it impacts both the outputs.
Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks for the reply, we did try to use that requiremnet option but then how do you know if the purchase order item is being deleted? You have this field in the routinue KOMKBEA-DRUVO which gets pouplated with '2' means change.
Obviously you cannot do a select query on EKPO because the PO is not yet updated at this point of time.

How do I maintain column formatting when converting from PDF to Excel? All info is no longer on the lines or in the columns they started out being in? Any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps I am expecting too much from Adobe ExportPDF. The reason I subscribed to this service, for which I pay a yearly fee, was that I need a way to convert scanned and digital documents to Word &/or Excel. I read the link you included but to be candid the more I tried to understand what was written the more confused I got. The process should not be this difficult. Currently I am using a NEAT scanner to create PDF documents of whatever I scan. After I changed the OCR setting on Adobe ExportPDF the output was much better but not to the point it was usable as it was. Information that appears to be lines and columns are sometimes not recognizing two columns and just putting them together in one. Obviously not usable. The other thing it does is bunch numbers that appear in a column that are just a bunch of numbers that I have no way of fixing.
Please let me speak to someone who can help me. Right now I not getting anything of value in my paid subscription.
