Faded Text in 10.6.7

I wonder does anyone else have this problem, you may not have noticed. When I print a colour box that is a Pantone or CMYK mix, it prints fine to a postscript printer (Ricoh Aficio SP C811 DN). Make text in the same colour on the page and the text prints faded to about 70%. Convert the text to outlines and it prints fine. I have tried this in Quark 8, Photoshop 5.5, Illustrator 5.5, Freehand and Acrobat Pro (from a PDF) and the problem is still there. I have printed to another printer and it's still wrong, I have printed from another computer to the Ricoh printer and it is fine. I had the famous mixed up font problem in Acrobat & Preview a couple of months ago but this was solved by an update. Solid Cyan, Yellow, Magenta or Black work fine, it's just CMYK mixes that are effected.

I have printed from another computer to the Ricoh printer and it is fine.
So the problem is in the Print mechanism on your regular computer.
Have you specified in the print "Preset" something other than "Standard" ?? If so, either get in there and fix whatever you changed, or revert back to "Standard". or "Reset the Printing System" and re-install your Printers.

  • I'm creating a PDF form and want to include faded text to show an example of what I want people to fill in. Much the same as a search bar in a web browser - this needs to disappear when they click in the field to fill in their details. How do I do this?

    I was wanting to create a form that would show sample information in a watermark effect that would diappear once the field was clicked onto.
    Example form question and field below:
    Rather than the blank fields I wanted them to show some examples (in faded text) but which dispeears once the field is clkicked into (nuch the same as a web search online works)
    Anyone know if this is possible?

  • Nokia E71 Fading Text On Display

    Hello Nokia Owners,
    Hopefully someone has seen this issue and have an easy fix, as I'm frustrated about this oddball occurrence. I'm wondering if there's a QA/QC issue at hand where these are being manufactured?
    Within the past 6 days, I've purchased 2 brand new Nokia E71 phones from 2 different Walmart stores, 30 mins of each other.  These are phones for the Straight Talk prepaid service. I have not yet activated the phones on ST, as my goal is to first test the basic functionality to determine if it's worth the $200 and will satisfy my needs.
    What's happening on both phones, in the same exact manner and location on the phone, is that the menu title name for some menus have fading text. It appears as though there's a display issue. I've attached some screenshots to make it easy to see what I'm experiencing.
    However, when I've tested playing the included videos in the phone at full screen, it appears to play the videos through the menu title name area with no fading. The same goes for looking at images - I do not see any fading with the included images in that area.
    I have done a Soft Reset on both phones using the *# option and from the "Factory Reset" option in the menu. This has not resolved it on either phone.  I have also changed themes, changed menu colors, changed the font size, none of which has resolved this.
    Thus far, I've returned one phone to Walmart and ready to return the next one now due to this issue. I'm willing to try a 3rd but that's where my limit is. I really like this phone and want it, but if this issue is indicative of a fully dead or fading display after a short period of use, I will not make the investment.
    Any help is most appreciated.

    Short answer: I don't know.  Other phones (the E52 and maybe the E5) have issues with the display lighting at odd times as the keyboard lock or phone lock activates (not typically when it deactivates).  So it could be a firmware issue.  But it could have also been a bad phone.
    AdriaticBlue wrote:
    By any chance, have you performed a software update on your E73? That's the only step I have not taken, as it appears I need to activate the phone on service to do any software updates via TracFone.  I can (and have) tested the E71 on my WIFI connection which works great, but I cannot invoke a software update via WIFI.
    Mmm, you could try Nokia's Ovi Suite or Software Updater software for Windows.  Instead of downloading a small patch file, you'd be downloading a complete 50 MB+ firmware file instead.  You might see a message that no updates are available, but it would be worth a try.
    But something to understand about Nokia phones: they're all different.  You can have two phones with the same OS, released within months of each other (my T-Mobile E73 is very similar to the E72) and have very different issues.  Maybe they each get firmware releases at nearly the same time, and one update fixes a bug while the other includes the bug.  (I'm  exaggerating a little, but you get my point.)  The E71 is a feature pack 1 phone while the E72/E73 are feature pack 2, so while the phones share lots of surface features, their guts are often quite different.  For example, I get the impression that Nokia made substantial changes to the hardware drivers from FP1 to FP2, but not always for the better.  I have done several software updates to my phone, but have never seen the problem you described.  Hopefully it stays that way.

  • Flash 8  My Fading Text Doesn't Work

    I am quite a novice flash user so this maybe a really basic
    question. I have created a flash file where I have text fading in
    and then fading out. I created my text, coverted to symbol and then
    set the alpha to 0%, then in a later key frame set it to 100% and
    added the tween. Now it works perfectly when I hit enter and test
    the movie in the workspace... although, when I go to CONTROL/TEST
    MOVIE or I publish it, the text just sits there absolutely static
    while all my other bits go on around it.
    What is wrong? Any help would be much appreciated!

    You use Dynamic text instead of STATIC.
    The ENTER is not the right way to preview content, it's
    barely to check timeline
    animation, so you can't rely on it. Export Preview is the
    only way for full
    functionality test.

  • LaserJet CM1312 MFP faded text when printing.

    Hi,
    When using this CM1312 printer the text is faded in parts, mostly to the left hand side of the page but it is noticeable on the whole document when printing. It does this for all colours.
    The ink toner cartridges have recently been changed and all are almost full. I have carried out all the cleaning checks and the diagnostic report check but this hasn't helped.
    Any help with this problem would be great.
    many Thanks
    Leigh

    Hi Leigh,
    Are you still seeing this issue?
    If so, does it occur on copies as well as print jobs?
    Did you see the problem on the Diagnostics Page you printed?
    Also, please check the firmware update site for the CM1312 and make sure you're running the latest firmware.
    Finally, it sounds like you've already tried many of these things, but this link provides some things to try to resolve print quality issues.

  • I have blurry, faded text in Firefox 4 (but not FF 3 or Chrome)

    [http://img405.imageshack.us/i/firefox4text.png/ http://img405.imageshack.us/i/firefox4text.png/]
    Here is an example from Youtube. Ever since I upgraded from Firefox 3.6 to 4, my text is blurry and thin and hard to read, it looks terrible. This also happens in IE ever since I upgraded to IE9, but I don't care since I rarely ever use IE.
    Out of desparation I installed Chrome just so I could browse without struggling to read text, and the text is clear and perfect there.
    Can someone please help me get a usable installation of Firefox again? I love the addons and features of Firefox, but not if I can't READ when I'm using it...

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.

    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Having trouble fading text

    Hi,
    I'm trying to fade text from top to bottom using a path I have always followed, but isn't working now:
    1. Select the layer the text is on
    2. Create Fill or Adjustment Layer > select Gradient from the drop-down menu
    3. Click on the Gradient bar to bring up the options
    4. Adjust opacity, direction, colour > OK
    When I create the Fill or Adjustment layer and select Gradient, the gradient is applied to the whole document rather than just the text on the layer I've selected.
    My text is white against a blue background and I'd like it to fade out as in the attached picture. I have tried selecting the gradient "Foreground to Transparent", but can't get past the stage where that is applied to the whole document.
    Can anyone suggest what's going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    I don't know whether you have a scan/photo of text or are using a Type layer. You could use a Layer Style Gradient Overlay on a Type layer. The example shows a white transparency gradient. Notice the Type layer's Fill is zero percent.

  • Time out text

    Hallo, I just recently read a post from a few months ago in regards to delaying the time it takes on load for text to appear (I can do the effect "appear" on load but would like a two second delay of nothing before you start to see the text) The code that the user posted to fix the problem was as follows....
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    $(function() {
             $('#divId').hide();
             setTimeout(function() {
                $('#divId').fadeIn(3000);
             },8000);
    </script>
    I am testing this out with one ap div that has "hi" typed inside of it, below is the code.....
    <style type="text/css">
    #apDiv1 {
         position:absolute;
         width:200px;
         height:115px;
         z-index:1;
         font-size: 36px;
    </style>
    <div id="apDiv1">HI</div>
    What I was wondring is how to implement the first code solution into my code i.e combine them to make it work as I have pretty poor code skills.
    Thanks

    You can delay the fade in effect.

  • Images appear faded when exporting to pdf

    Hello, I have .png images in my document; and regardless of the blend space I choose, or pdf export settings, the images appear faded when I export to pdf. I noticed that when I print the file as a pdf, the colors don't change, it only happens when I export, so I'm assuming it's related to pdf export settings? any help would be appreciated. another thing that might be relevant; in the document, when it's just a single image on the page, it doesn't appear faded in the exported pdf. but when there are several images together, overlapping on the page, fading occurs. also, if I select compatibility as acrobat 4, images are not faded in the pdf, although they do appear lower quality. but i can't set compatibility at 4 because i have several movie files and hyperlinks embedded, which 4 doesn't allow. hope i've made sense, i'm new to indesign, using CS3.

    Hi Peter, I changed the colorspace in acrobat to the same as indesign, sRGB... + US web coated v2.. then I exported again, but still have faded text in text boxes as well as faded images (.png files). I notice when i zoom in and out quickly, the images flicker a bit and look how they should but when I stop they stay faded. I'm just curious if anyone were to place a .png image in their indesign + export to pdf, whether they'd get the same result.
    as far as the monitor goes, to be honest, im not sure if it's calibrated. and i feel bad asking what that means

  • Removing background from text?

    Hi All. I am a very new user to Flash and know my question is
    probably extremely basic but I can't figure out what I'm doing
    wrong.
    I am trying to place fading text on top of an image and when
    I create the animation, it places it on a white (specified)
    background. The animation I have created is on its own layer. So my
    question would be, how do I remove the background from my text? I
    would like a transparent background so my text fades in right on
    top of my image.
    Right now, the initial image with falling snow starts and
    about 25 frames in, it turns to white and the text fades in...how
    do i get rid of the white so the text fades in and you are still
    able to see the image and the falling snow?
    I am very very new to Flash (3 days in) and although this is
    a ridiculously easy task to perform in photoshop, I cannot grasp
    how to do it in flash cs4. Thank you, in advance, for any help I
    may receive. I'm trying hard to learn this medium...

    Select the textfield on the stage and see if the icon remains
    unselectable... if so, what version of Flash are you using (I'm
    just curious if it's CS4)?
    Another way to remove the textfield background/border is thru
    actionscript. The textfield must have an instance name to be able
    to do this. Let's say you name it tFeld. In a timeline layer for
    actions, select the first frame of the actions layer where the
    textfield appears on the timeline below it (I only assume it's on a
    layer below somewhere) anmd type the following in the actionscript
    editor window:
    tField.background = false;
    tField.border = false;
    If none of the above works, then I have a feeling I'm
    misinterpretting the scenario. I'm assuming the textfield includes
    its own background at that there isn't some other background
    involved that you area talking about.

  • Colors faded and dots lost in plots when exporting to PPTX

    Upon exporting a PDF file to PPTX, the images, which contained plots with colored dots, were reduced in quality and certain colors were faded and some dots were lost. Any settings that could be changed to avoid the loss in quality and also color preservation?

  • How to make a text becoming more and more visible?

    Maybe I didn't use google well, but I didn't find anything in the internet what could solve my question.
    I basically want to work with a white background, where a text is on which becomes more and more visible the more it comes closer to the bottom. The tricky thing is, it's for a website, so it has to be responsive for smartphones or tablets for example (first idea: put the white background layer to the front like it makes the text behind it more and more visible/invisible?). Any ideas how to solve that? Would be so great to know.

    I'm not sure what it means to "be responsive for smartphones or tablets"...  People put complex graphics on those things all the time.  They have unprecedented power.
    Photoshop can help you do what you're describing.  What you want is no more complex than putting a gradient mask on a layer so as to create partial transparency.  You could have fading text (as a graphic) or a fading solid color fill that would overlay text rendered by a browser.
    Just some graphic ideas...
    Save as a PNG-24 to get partial transparency that a browser can render.

  • Is there a way to keep the time for an event on the left of the box in month view?

    For example, when I type in "5:00 PM Basketball Game," iCal automatically changes the event to "Basketball Game." I only use month view so that wasn't helpful for me. I only recently discovered the "show event times" option in preferences so now the time shows up in month view, but on the right in faded text. Is there anything I can do in Terminal to keep it from automatically changing it? I'm old-fashioned I guess.
    I realize it's nitpicky but I'd appreciate a solution. Thanks!

    I should note that the time stays on the left of the event name when I re-enter the text (which I had to do all the time before I found the "show event times" button) so I feel like there's a way.

  • Adobe Muse CC, Is it possible to achieve this effect?

    Hi everyone, it's me again. Now I was browsing through the internet when I come across these two websites:
    Supernova – WordPress Theme (This is a website theme/template)
    http://airnauts.com/ (This is an actual website)
    So, in the first one, the Wordpress theme, as you can see there is this "Fade-In" text effect, now I managed to achieve the same effect via "Composition Widget" following the instructions in this video:
    " Adobe Muse CC 7.0 Tutorial | Auto-Fading Design Elements - YouTube "
    Now, I managed to "synchronize" the time settings, so that my slideshow pictures fade and when there is a new picture the text fades in, the problem is, it happens just once, what I did basically was:
    I set the auto-fading effect using the: "Hide Initially" feature in the "Composition" Widget (like in the video tutorial) and for the first picture/text I set the time, so that when the page loads it automatically fades in, and that works very fine, my point is, that you can't see the effect again unless you reload the page. In the Supernova theme you can clearly see that the texts fade in as the page loads and as the slide changes, so each time it changes slide there's a new text fading in, and if you go back to the previous slide without reloading the page, it still shows it, as if the auto-fading text was somehow "linked" the the picture itself, so that when that particular picture is shown, the effect of the fade-in text comes up, each time that particular picture is shown.
    I made some research and I found out that there's a program called WordPress and that the "Supernova Theme" is actually a "template" for that program (I might be mistaken though). Now, my question here is, is it possible to achieve the same effect with Muse? Like: "when this image appears then the following fade-in text does"
    And, as for the second link, as you will see, there a very cool scrolling effect that makes the rectangle sort of: "turns around" (it's better if you just see what I'm talking about int he second link)
    Is it possible to do the same with Muse?
    Thank you for your time!

    Hi Chuck--
    I haven't seen a specific example of this yet, but I know it's possible to do in Edge Animate. I think shotdang's example is the same concept, but doesn't take it as far.
    It'd be kind of a similar concept to this, too: http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/showcase/templates/tabviewer/TabViewer.html
    You could start from here: http://www.edgedocks.com/market/organic-menu-edge-animate
    Then, you'd just need to design your project so that the menu items target the frames you want animated.
