Fading folder icons

Hello,
I would appreciate your help on a matter that is driving ne crazy.
I was working with my PB 17" 1,67, 1,5 MB RAM, 100 GB HD, 10.4.3, bought on July 2005. All of a sudden the folder icons on my desktop and in my folders faded away as if I have used brightness and contrast tools from photoshop.
The desktop is OK, the dock is OK, the menu bar is OK. When I open any application (word,pages,keynote,safari,firefox) all the letters,icons,pictures are normal.One peculiar thing is that some new icons have been shown on my desktop concerning ny .Mac account.
To be more specific a new iDisk with my username has mounted so now I have two iDisks.Furthermore when I open this iDisk I see alliases of my entire HD!
I have created a new account with another username at my PB and when I use it everything works fine.All the folders seem ok.
When I switch to my administrator account all the folders are faded and the iDisks are present.Also a new folder named servers appeared as well.
I have run Onyx, repaired permissions,restarted using my repair disk.Everything is working fine apart from the folder icons on my desktop and the icons in my folders.
I have also used animated folder icons and the result is the same!
I woujld be very much obliged if you could help me on that.

A few months ago I had a problem that required my viewing the hidden files in folders in the Finder. Niel sent me the following script:
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles '1'"
tell application "Finder"
quit
end tell
delay 3
tell application "Finder"
run
end tell
The script worked, but it had the very same effect you described.
To turn off the effect, I re-ran the script but changed the "1" to "0" (Niel's instructions). You can go ahead and try this - see if it works.
