Fading in is always fast and fade-out not smooth.

This is real simple but I can't seem to find why my fade-in and fade-outs are not precise.
Sub-question: Best way to control fades ?
I have a title layer to which I add a fade-in and fade-out behaviour,.
No matter how long the title duration my fade-in is always short and fade-out is smooth but really speeds up for the last second.
The HUD says fade-in 120 frames but the fades is only 30.
I'm applying the fade to the text layer.
And yes both layers are the same length.

Tried other variants but to no avail.
Fondu simply means fade in / fade out
No matter how long I make it the image fades in really quick in the first 20 images.
I'm lookin for a smooth and slow fade.
I have also a 178 images fade in but the beginning will fade in at the same speed as the 48 images.

Giving particles random colors AND fade out.

Hi all, I want to make my particles start with random colors AND fade out but it seems to be impossible to do... even though I would think its a pretty fundamental feature.
The only way it seems to make them start with random colors is Particle Cell: Color Mode: Pick from range - and setup the gradient with the allowed colors - but then I cant fade them out. The only way it seems to make them fade out is to set Color Mode: Over Life.
It seems quite logical that there would be a Particle Behaviour 'Fade Over Life' (similar to Scale Over Life) which you apply to the cell. Is this possible to implement some how? ideally I would also like each particle to fade in briefly as well as fading out - but i guess thats asking too much!!

If you use the Color Mode of Pick from Range, the opacity gradient will still work "over life" - controlling opacity over the life of each particle. Just add opacity tags at the end and middle, and set the ending opacity to zero (and beginning, if you like)

IPhone dropouts and fade outs

iPhone 3GS with 4 update software now has frequent dropouts and fade-outs in previously full signal areas. It need not be in my hand.
It also MAY suck up the battery faster since I now keep 3GS service etc on almost all the time.

I'm confused.
How is it that this new version of iMovie lacks the most basic ability to adjust text sizes or remove text effects? I'm talking about the ability to just put unmoving, unfading, unflaring, plain-old, simple text of different sizes on the screen. This new version makes it basically impossible to do simple tasks like make subtitles.
For all of its bells and whistles it would be impossible to make a simple, silent black and white film like those people were making over 100 years ago—because the "new" iMovie lacks the ability to do simple intertitles!
I'm talking about white text centered on a black background. In 2014, I can't type white text on a black background and format it. On an Apple product. I can do that on TextEdit, why can't I do that on iMovie 13?

I can click on fade in and fade out and the yellow line that graphs volume takes a sharp raise or dip at the beginning or end of the clip, but there is no change in volume when I play back. Thanks for the reply. Great news about the volume adjusts.
Now about those fades for the volume. How are you doing that?
1. Right click the Timeline video audio and select Fade and then
see the Fade options (I had a video with audio file, so I saw the choices as shown in the screenshot)
2. You can also create two volume keyframes at each end of the Timeline audio clip rubberband (orange line that goes horizontally across the middle of the audio clip). At the position of the Timeline Indicator, click the Add/Remove Keyframe icon, and then with the mouse cursor position the white dots (volume keyframes) to achieve the Fade In and Fade Out audio. In the screenshot below I have moved the Timeline Indicator so that you could better see the white dots (volume keyframes).
Please let us know if any of the above works for you with regard to the audio fades.

There is a tiny dot at the beginning and ending of an audio clip that can be moved to adjust fade in and fade out.

Can you fade in and fade out the same layer in the same page state?

I am simulating a lot of touch interactions, and have a hand object that moves over the simllated screen. I want to add small "taps" under the hands to show touch; I can see how its easy to fade IN an object (say a small circle) that represents the touch; but how do I fade OUT that same object?

Hey Rob,
I think you can achieve the effect you're looking for by using 'on click' interactions in conjunction with action sequences.
I just made a simple example, here are the steps:
1) Select the component you'd like to react on 'tap'
2) In the Interactions panel, click 'Add Interaction', and select 'play action sequence'
3) The timelines panel should now be given focus, and display the new 'on click' action sequence
4) Select the "circle" you'd like to make the fade in followed by fade out effect. If their opacity is set to 0 at this point, use the layers panel to select them.
5) With the circle selected, in the timelines panel click 'add action', located at the bottom.
6) Select 'fade' from the options available.
7) In the properties panel, define the fade properties (for fade in, obviously set 'from' to be 0, and 'to' to be 100)
8) Repeat steps 5 through 7, but choose from=100 and to=0
9) Arrange the fade in, and fade out events on the timeline to get the timing choreography right.
10) If you haven't done so already, set the opacity of your circles to be 0.

in Acrobat Pro you can place your own 3D-model into the pdf. Than you can fade in and fade out components of your 3d-model on a acrobat-menü (see images) in the pdf-reader. Now I want to build a pdf with this functionality, but the tricky thing is, that I want to fade in and out the components from the 3d-model not on the menu, but on self-made buttons.
But how to say the buttons, that they should fade in or fade out a component from the 3d model, like it the menu from acrobat does?

Here's an alternative approach - it's great to have alternatives! I believe that to "stop and fade out a rolling title" is what the Roll/Crawl Options box is all about. Here's what I do:
Create a Default Roll Title.
In Roll/Crawl Options click on Start Off Screen (Preroll will disable) and enter the following values: Ease-In: 0, Ease-Out: 50 and Postroll: 100
Leave End Off Screen unticked
Make a few space lines before and after whatever it is you want to have stay on the screen at the end so that it fits in the middle. In my case that's usually ME! :-)
Your titles (as long as you like) will start off screen and then they will roll and roll until that last block appears and slows down - the Ease-Out value. That will stay on the screen for the Postroll value duration. Usually I have a normal disolve transition to do the fadeout. All done in just a few mouse clicks.
(The above values are what I use 99% of the time but you might wish to experiment.)

If you want to fade in and out anything, you should look at the Composite interface. A Composite is part of a Graphics2D object. You should be able to gradually change this on the button, but maybe within a different thread?

Is it possible to make a fade in, hold and fade out one picture at time in InDesign CS5? I don't want to do a click-event to change object states. I want to set three different time-laps to animate one picture.

Any way to automate text opacity fade in and fade out?

I am doing a lot of text subtitles, and for each subtitle, I take a text slug, type in the text, then at the beginning of the clip I make the opacity zero, then a second in I increase the opacity to 100%, then I apply "Smooth" to each point and then do the opposite on the tail end.
Is there anyway to automate the fade in and fade out of opacity so that I can save myself a ton of time?

Several ways to do it:
• Set the Opacity changes to one clip; copy the clip then Paste Attributes->Opacity to the other clips at one time.
• Use a Fade In Fade Out transition as the default transition and apply to all selected clips at the same time.
• Use a filter like Digital Heaven's DH Fade and apply to all clips (Paste Attributes->Filters.

Fade in Fade out not working on Rollover Image for Captivate 6

Hi
I am totally baffled with this issue. When I use Fade in 0.5 sec and Fade Out 0.5 seconds on a rollover image, it will not work. I even changed the default on my preferences for rollover images and it still will not work and does not show in my accordian panel in properties.
If I use Captivate 5, I do not have any problem. Any suggestions?

Are you forgetting that a rollover object has two parts? It has a hit area and the object that appears when you mouse over the hit area. Each part can have different settings in the Properties tab. In a rollover caption, the object that appears is a text caption. In a rollover image, the object is an image.
If you select the rollover object on the timeline, the Properties you see for it in the Properties tab are for the hit area. So having fade in or fade out set there will not affect the object that appears on mouseover.
If you select the caption or image on the stage in Edit mode, the properties shown in the Properties tab are for that specific object and can be different from the hit area of the same rollover object.
In your case, make sure that your image is set to have fade in or fade out. Fading on a hit area of a rollover object is not really useful at all.

You most likely have a failure of the WiFi chip.
Restore the phone as a new device. If that doesn't solve your problem, you'll have to bring your phone to Apple for replacement. If you are not within the warranty period, expect to pay $199 for out of warranty replacement.

If the old Macbook(?) has Snow Leopard 10.6 installed, and you have that retail install disc or the system disc of the current (base level) system on it, you could use the installer disc as a boot volume and use the utilities on the booted install disc to reset the password. It should be a menu option in the booted Install disc, way short of any effort to re-install anything. And if your computer can do this, the same DVD has Disk Utility, to check/repair the Mac HDD.
What OS X version do you have, & what MacBook, etc is that?

How to fade in and fade out buttons ???

Hi guys I am building a website and I need help to fade in/ fade out buttons. Here is an example :
My main goal is that when I roll over the services button, I want the submenu (corporate and weddings) to fade in. Then when I roll over the portfolio button, I want the first submenu (corporate and weddings) to fade out and the second submenu ( clients, corporate, weddings, etc..) to fade in and to stay like this. Finally when I roll over testimonials, the second submenu fades out. And so on for the rest of the buttons.
FYI, i know how to animate the buttons to fade in/out but i dont know how to make them fade out when i roll over the other buttons.. I know this can be done with action script but I have no clue how...

Some things you just have to take the time to unravel and learn. It's not difficult/complex, you just have to avoid letting the code overwhelm you by its appearance... instead of looking at pages, look at one page at a time, line by line... take your time and follow a tutorial.
People make tutorials to help those that need to learn, so there's no reason for anyone here to reinvent those wheels for every person that comes along. If you are looking for someone who'll hand you your solved design, sorry, I'm not that guy.
