Fail to export from IND CS5

Just yesterday I had to set up a new user on my mac (had an IT guy do this). I logged into the new account and went through the motions of getting all the programs back up and running and then I went to Export a file to PDF and I keep getting an error message in a dialog window as per the attached:
Now I can make a postscript file and it distills fine but I can't export to PDF.
I went and uninstalled the whole creative Suite and installed it all again and I am still getting the error.
I tried another file and had the same error message.
Any ideas on how this can be solved?

EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.

Problem with Exporting from Bridge CS5 to Social Media sites

I'm a new French user of CS5 Bridge. My question is :
Is it possible for me to export pictures from Bridge to Social Media Sites like Facebook & Flickr ?

Sorry for my bad english.

You can't. The export module (btw gone in Bridge CC) has never worked properly for all social media. The reason they gave was due to rights management in different countries. It only worked in a few countries for Facebook.

Mac Projector Crashes When exported From Flash CS5.5

Something strange that i noticed, when i had exported a presentation for a Mac,
on a 64 bit windows 7 using flash cs5.5.
the applicaton gets the paths of a few swfs from an XML file
and loads them one after the other.. there is a small bit of interactivity.
.. tested this projecter on various versions of MAC, it crashes often,crashes earlier if i switch applications. what follows here is a part of a report that was generated on an OS X 10.7.3,
works fine if the projector is exported from flash cs5.
i need it to work when exported from flash cs5.5.. any suggestions on what i need to change in my application so that it works when exported from flash cs5.5?

Looks like it was a memory problem with the jvm.ini file.
Pumped it up to 256 and it works now.

Exporting from Premiere CS5

I need some help exporting video files, I know nothing.
I'm using Premiere CS5. I import a 31.5mb (1:35s length) .mov, chop the first 12 seconds, add a Dip to Black on the beginning and end. Then I choose File/Export/Media, choose QuickTime, uncheck the "Export Audio" (I do not want the sound) then click "Export." I end up with a 300mb file. I don't understand why the file is 10x larger than what I started with???
Ultimately, I need to create a video file that will be linked from a PowerPoint presentation.
Any other advice for exporting video from Premiere CS5 would be greatly appreciated! Like what's the best for web?

Fail to export from SAP to Excel on SAPGUI 640 on NW04

Hi
I have a user who is trying to use the export to excel button in a standard SAP transaction, when he uses it, he gets all the questions, chooses excel to export to, chooses table, then nothing happens, he just gets the standard message 'save data in the spreadsheet'.
I logged onto his PC & used SAPGUI in ST03N, when i tried the export I got the same issue, selected all the export options to table for excel, no errors, but excel does not load? I did the export on my PC from ST03N and all worked ok and excel started and exported the data as expected, so its the users SPAGUI/PC/Excel.
No other users are having this issue, lots are exporting to Excel ok, even loaded it and then done the export with Excel already started and fails to export. The PC is a standard build, same as the rest, as is SAPGUI 640.
The desktop PC team have passed this onto me and i'm the basis admin, i've ran things like SAPCHECK in the past, has anyone got any ideas what I can check to find out why Excel is failing to start on users PC when triggered from SAPGUI? are there any specific options you need selected on SAPGUI install to allow export to work?
Out desktops are Windows XP Pro and Office 2000.
We are running NW04 & ERP2004 on Windows 2003 64 bit & SQL Server 2000

Fonts missing on export from Catalyst CS5

I've created a product demonstration in Catalyst CS5, and one of my slides is an imported SWF. The swf looks perfect inside of catalyst's library preview, however, when I publish or preview (f4) the movie the fonts in the embedded swf are wrong - it defaults to some generic sarif font.
Anyone experienced this problem? Adobe? Suggestions?

Never Mind. I figured it out. When exporting a swf from Flash CS5 you have to go into the ActionScript 3 settings (from the Publish Settings screen) and at the bottom under "Runtime Shared Library Settings" select "Merged into Code" for Default Linkage. That embeds everything in the swf, and it plays perfectly when rendered from Catalyst.
Hope that helps somebody, because it was driving me crazy!!!!

MPEG2-DVD export from PremPro CS5 crash

Hi there.
Got a new problem and can't seem to find the answer on any of the old threads. I am working on:
HP z800
12 GB RAM
Windows 7
Xeon 2.8Ghz x 2
When trying to export an MEPG2-DVD file, or any MPEG2 for that matter, out of Premiere, then computer hangs and I have to force a shut down of Premiere. I have tried exporting from SD and HD projects...nothing is working.
Anyone run into this yet?

OK, do to New Project, and look at the Preset list. Do you have all of the HD Presets? If so - no "revert to trial."
Now, if you launch AME from the Desktop, and point it to the Project's Sequence in PrPro, do you still get the crash?

Questions about PDF exporting with InDe CS5.5

A couple questions about exporting to PDF from the latest version of InDe.
First, I have noticed that it seems to take a lot longer to get to a PDF. Any suggestions for how to speed up the process? It took 8 minutes or so to generate a low-res PDF (for print) of a 24pp document with a few placed images and vector graphics. Wow, that's a long time to wait, especially for a proof.
Second, the background task... if I get it going on making that 8-minute PDF and then work some more on the document, what exactly is in the PDF? Usually I save before making a PDF or printing. So, is the last version saved what will be in the PDF?
(As an aside, this ability to work on the doc while generating a PDF seems kind of weird. Generally one makes a PDF for proofing, or even for printing, when all the changes have been made and everything is "final". So, I see no benefit to being able to work on my document while it's making a PDF, as I'm probably finished making revisions for the time being. I have to say that I kind of like the progress bar you get when you make an interactive PDF, as you know you can't work on the document when that's on the screen... )

Yes, this is abnormally long (and too long), something is wrong. What's the full version of InDesign you are running, as reported by holding down Cmd or Control and selecting About InDesign?

Saving is not related. InDesign makes a database snapshot of your document the moment you begin the PDF export, and makes the export relative to that snapshot, regardless of edits you continue to make during the export process, and regardless of saving. Of course saving first is a good idea, for several reasons, not the least of which it sounds like something's fairly seriously wrong with your document or your InDesign installation.
We recommend you trash your preferences and export your document to IDML and see if either of those things changes this 8-minute behavior...err, assuming you're running 7.5.2.318.

Yeah, I think the primary benefit is if you are likely to work on 2 or more files in parallel, so you can finish A and export A and then switch to B. Need a file converted from InD CS5 to InD CS4...

Had someone do some work for me and their source file came as a CS5 InDesign version 7 file (I think)... which I cannot open in CS4 InD version 6. Is there such as thing as file converter of some kind or do I need to have them or someone else open it in CS5 and save it in some compatible format?

Yes (well, to the 2nd part of your question).
Ask someone who has a CS5 to save it as IDML, or (always an option!) download the fully functional trial of CS5, and you have about 30 days to do it yourself.

PDF files turns white after exporting from InDesign CS5

Hi all
When I export PDF files fom inDesign CS5 they turn out all white when I open them in Acrobat Reader (I´ve tried both in version 9 and the latest version). When I first open the PDF it seems to be ok but as soon as I zoom out it turns white. Anyone have a clue or have experienced the same issues?

Is this something you can share? Put the PDF on a server someplace and post a link here, if you can. If you don't have your own server, you can use a service like YouSendIt.com.
What settings are you using for the export? What happens in ID if you go to Preview mode?

Export from AF CS5 to FLV with Cuepoint

In After Effects CS3 I exported a movie 622x350 to FLV with cuepoints, and it was small,
now after I upgraded to CS5 and export the same file again is't three time larger.
I do exactly the same as before.
Could it be because the upgrade?
Is there a new plugin that I can take home.

Found only in two places where I could shut off the XMP metadata;
it was under Pref. Media & Disk Cache and the Output Module Settings.

Hitting a specific file size when exporting from Flash CS5

I need to export three banners to .swf from flash and they all need to be under 61K. They all use photographs and are 5-7 seconds long each and the dimentions are 300x250 px, 300x600 px & 728x90 px. Is there any way I can put in the specific file size in the program and make it under 61k? I tried using the publish settings and lowering the quality and even at 40% quality the file size only went down 20KB from 147 to 127. If you cannot do that in the program is there any third party programs that can be used to do this? Thanks for your help!

What you should do is set the Publish Settings to generate a size report. That way you will have a detailed listing of what each element of the design contributes to the file weight. I would guess that the images are going to be the heavy hitters, so you might need to use image software to optimize them as much as possible before importing them into Flash.

File size of .swf files exported from Indesign CS5

I have made a basic file (728 x 90 px) in Indesign, which is the size of banner ads we produce. I have not put on any effect or animation yet. When I export it as a swf file, the file size is 139kb. This is way too large for any banner advertising on websites where the highest is normally 100px and the smallest is 30kb.
I have tried exporting at a lower resolution, but it has no effect on the file size, rendering this useless as a flash export option for me.
Is there something I'm missing or is Indesign just not the right tool for flash banner ads.

As I said, I resampled the images to be 500px wide so each PShop image is about 1.4mb (single layer). There are 12 images used.

No doubt you are a 100% right here.
But I think it is a bit disingenious to blame the InDesign user for the feature. It would be like Abobe putting Drop Shadows and transparences into ID and then saying you should use PhotoShop to for that feature!

Client can't print PDFs exported from InDesign CS5.5

They say that the 'flattening' fluctuates up and down then hangs. Exporting Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) Can someone please advise?

Try exportiing to Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3) that should flatten before sending.
Seems like it's trying to flatten on output and is hanging. If you do PDF 1.3 then it will already be flattened and might stop the error.
