Fail to extract Desktop App -- Variables

I have a Desktop App Distribution that is failing on one server. The error
message I get is the following: "Failed to process package. Details: Map
drive variable Y:\ has not been defined. Make sure it is defined for this
subscriber server."
I have this variable defined in the Service Location policy which applies
to about 60 servers, and the others all work fine. If I go to the server
ZEN console and type showvars, I see the following line: "Y:\ =
UTLAPL:\Appl" which is correct, and is the same thing I see on all the
other servers. Other distributions, using other variables defined in the
policy, work correctly.
I am running ZfS 6.5 on this server with NW6SP5, DS 8.7.3.3. I have tried
deleting the object (and its sub_password.txt file) and recreating them, no
change. I have also tried specifically defining the variables on this
subscriber -- no change. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Mapped drives shouldn't be a problem, I've got several customers using it.
In this case I'm not sure what the issue could be, could be a timing issue.
Do all App distributions fail or just some specific distributions? Does the
distribution get extracted if you run the extract again?
Maybe post the complete Java exception that shows up in the TED.LOG, this
might give a little more info about what happens.

  • Windows App Certification Kit - Test Fails for Validate Desktop App at "Write appropriate Add/Remove Program values"

    Hi,
I am trying to validate a .Net Framework 4 WinForms application for use in the Microsoft Partner Network portal.
I am using Windows App Certification Kit 3.4 for Windows 8.1 , and the Validate Desktop App option.
To build the package I am using InstallShield 2012 SPR Limited Edition (for Visual Studio), and the validation fails
only with the following error (please also see the attached image):
Clean reversible install test: Failed to Write appropriate Add/Remove Program values
Error Found: The registry population test detected the following error: app didn't create the required registry entries.
A non-optional value 'DisplayName' is missing or invalid (same for 'Publisher', 'ProductVersion')
Please note that I have filled in all the publisher/product details in the InstallShield project, on the General Information page.
Also I have tried to use the Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Project for VS2013, and the validation failed with the exact same error.

Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thank you.

You may need to add the necessary info to the app’s Windows Installer package so it can configure Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel correctly. Setting these properties automatically writes the corresponding values into the registry. From the picture,
you are missing some necessary information about your desktop app.
Also You need the correct admin permissions to write to the registry.

  • Creative Cloud Desktop App does not upload CERTAIN files

Trying to use the Creative Cloud Desktop app to manage my Adobe Audition Files. The entire folder structure syncs, but individual files keep failing. The desktop app does not show any useful messages, but I found this error in the CoreSync.log file.
    ERROR: Copying file: {"cause":"infected_asset","message":"In the file 'Track 1_004.wav' the signature 'null' has been found"}
This same error goes for pretty much all my files. Now if I take the same exact file and use the web uploader, it succeeds with no issues. My other computers will download the file, and my original computer does not download any duplicates. I tried Adobe's support chat but that was a joke. They said there is no technical support for the Cloud Desktop App and that I need to go to the forums.
Anyone have any idea what's causing this error?

    Hi Kendr1ck,
I wondered if it was related to the files being used when you were attempting to sync them. Were the files you were having difficult with open in Audition at the time? Do they still fail with Audition closed?
    Thanks,

  • Uninstall Failed, Not listed in Creative Cloud Desktop App list

I keep trying to uninstall ANY and ALL of the Creative Cloud programs downloaded on my computer - Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro - and I keep getting the message in the screen shot I've attached. This goes for the CC AND CC 2014 versions. I have them all. None are appearing in my Creative Cloud deskop app. It is saying I have no apps downloaded. Right now I am in the middle of installing all of the CC 2014 versions (even though the programs panel of my computer (Windows 7 64 bit) says all of these programs are already downloaded, screenshot included below also).
In fact, moments ago - today is 10/24 - my install of InDesign CC 2014 just completed yet my computer says it was installed on 10/6???? Yes, even after a reboot.
Please note: This morning I started by uninstalling the Creative Cloud Desktop App and then reinstalling it successfully.
AND YES, I have already tried the Cleaner Tool 5 times, so please DO NOT suggest that. It does not work. I've also rebooted my system several times.
There is no firewall on my computer. Virus checking is not blocking it either.
Any one else experiencing the same? I need this fixed yesterday. I haven't been able to work in 24 hours.
    Please help!

I'm experiencing this same problem where I can't uninstall or install any CC products, and haven't found a resolution yet. The cleaner tool definitely doesn't help and I keep getting messages that the uninstall failed.

  • After I restart my computer, Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app fails to open (Windows 7)

I started having this problem pretty late last night. Some of my applications still work -- Audition, Premiere, Media Encoder, and Lightroom -- but After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and Illustrator also fail to launch. Some display a generic "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You  may not have appropriate permissions to access the item." Other's don't, displaying a blank white icon next to the program file name.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled everything (including Windows 7). To be clear, Creative Cloud *works* after I reinstall it, but as soon as I reboot my computer or restart in order to reinstall other apps, I only see the image below. I canot edit preferences or view updates and requests. I then have to uninstall creative cloud and reinstall in order to get it up and running again.
I'm baffled. No clue why certain apps load and others are damaged or something, and it seems there's no work around native to Adobe.
Aother piece of perhaps relevant information; WIndows installed a critical update on Feb. 23rd (day before I started having this issue). Might be relevant, but I've since re-installed windows and in the interim period between that update and my first failure, I was able to access Photoshop and After Effects.

Unfortunately, that did not solve the issue. Renamed the file and was able to download new programs. I was even able to use them (after effects and photoshop), but when I restarted, they were lost again. Now Audition doesn't even work. I get this message: "Adobe Application Manager, required to start your trial, is missing or damaged. Please download a new copy of adobe application manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager.
So basically, everytime I restart my computer, I have to download the cloud desktop app, install it, then install whatever programs I want to use. Then I can't restart or else I risk losing them and have to do the process all over again. Desperate for a solution on this one.

  • CC Desktop App fails to update

    Hi,
I'm using an iMac with OSX 10.9.5 and I've been trying to update my Creative Cloud desktop app for some while now but the update always stops at some point and won't progress further.
When the progress bar of the update stalls that way, if I stop/quit the CC app (in an attempt to relaunch the update), then it vanishes completely from my task bar. I'm also unable to find/launch the app again until I restart my computer. Is there any workaround concerning these issues? Thanks in advance.

Albom what update specifically are you trying to apply?  Are you trying to update the Creative Cloud Desktop application itself?  If so then please utilize the steps listed in Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application.
You can find the Adobe Creative Cloud application inside your applications folder.  For information on how to open Adobe Creative applications under Mac OS please see Launch CC apps after install - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/launch-creative-cloud-apps.html.

  • Why does every attempt at installing CC Desktop App (update) fail?

I have been with Adobe Creative Cloud for a few months but lately when CC says an update for the desktop app is ready for download it will nearly finish installing but always end in this dialog:  "We've encountered the following issues:  Creative Cloud desktop failed to install" or this one, "Administrator privileges are required to continue with the installation."

If you remove the cloud desktop app altogether do updates show in the individual programmes as that seems to use adobe update manager?
If adobe are going to insist on an internet connection then they have to get their back end system to be reliable. They can't claim it is our internet connections that are the issue when it is *only* their software that is problematic to upgrade. Everyone else's loads fine and updates fine. No fuss, no drama. Properly written installations allow admin authentication from a user account and work via firewalls. Even with the firewall off CC won't update the desktop version so I have uninstalled it completely and won't be reinstalling it until a proper version is released that works reliably.

    Hi, Jeff.
I'm not on a network and I didn't change anything on my secutiy setups, so I got in touch to the customer support. They checked my computer and found nothing wrong, so they uploded some log files to analyse the case. I'm waiting for a answer.

no, follow solution 2 here, CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

  • Windows App Certification Toolkit fails on Certification requirements for Windows desktop apps Point 5.5

Using the latest Version 3.4 of Windows App Certification Toolkit to check Windows 8.1 compatibility our Installer was not approved on:
Certification requirements for Windows desktop apps
5.5 Your app installer must create the correct registry entries to allow successful detection and uninstalls
But all necessary settings are done and after the installation of our application we will find all settings in the registry.
We use an MSI Installer embedded in a bootstrapper exe. The MSI Installer is made with the WiX Toolset V3.6.
The same Application Installer got approved on November, 2014.
We checked this issue against the latest version of MSThreatModelingToolkit installer which also was made with WiX toolset and it fails, too.
So is there a higher restriction or do we miss anything?

    Hi Wibudev,
I would suggest you to double check if you have miss something in registry, per documentation mentioned, the installation module must create the following registry entries during installation:
    DisplayName
    InstallLocation
    Publisher
    UninstallString
    VersionMajor or MajorVersion
    VersionMinor or MinorVersion
WACK 3.4 is the latest version, I don't think there would be any higher restriction but I will recommend you to test with another computer to see if the validate fails again. Sometimes the issue could be on the PC environment.

  • Login on Creative Desktop App fail

If I login on the Creative Cloud Desktop App, I became "logged out, login to continue". I reinstalled the cloud two times, but nothing change. Login in with my Browser with the same Userdata works fine.
I am using the creative cloud on my Windows PC with version 8.1. I hope someone could help, I can't update alle my programs.
    Thanks, Sophie

    Hello Sophie,
    this is a popular bug.
    1. you have to go into the Windows-Explorer (WIN + E)
    2. follow the folder: User -> YOUR USERNAME -> AppData -> Local -> Adobe -> OOBE (if hidden: press ALT -> go to "extras" -> "folderoptions" click the tab "view" and activate the radio "show hidden files, ... "
    3. delete the file opm.db (close before all Adobe programs)
    4. restart your CC App

  • Desktop app re-downloads installers without retrying on any failure

    [Bug report/feature request]
The Creative Cloud desktop app on PC has a bad habit of downloading installers from scratch, without retrying an installation, when anything fails -- even if it's a minor connection problem after the installer has finished downloading.
This is wasting my monthly download quota with my ISP!
Here's an example of what's happened most recently:
Tell Creative Cloud desktop app to download the new version of Photoshop
Photoshop downloads (progress goes past 50%, at which point the desktop app will have downloaded the installer and initialised it)
    Installer initialises
Desktop app reports a connection error to the adobe servers
Desktop app starts downloading the installer from scratch, with no option to relaunch the installer
    What should happen:
    Installer downloads
Any failure launching the installer? Ask if the user would like to try the installation again or download from scratch

I tried to report the same Feature Request for the Creative Cloud desktop app (in Windows) but this applicaiton does nto exist in the drop-down menu.
It is very frustrating for files (many that are greater than 1GB) to have to be re-downloaded when the internet connection fails, even momentarily.  I'm a brand new Creative Cloud subscriber and this is not making me a happy customer.
The Creative Cloud desktop app needs to be able to handle interruptions in connection.
