Fail to install because missing cd

I was following the wiki on how to install with just an iso image...

But when i try to boot the partition where it says give the kernel the "BOOTMEDIA=cd" option, it starts to bootstrap then stalls and freezes because it is not able to find the cdrom device. Is the "BOOTMEDIA=cd" option correct or am I missing another option?

AcrobatX Standard Fails to install because it doesnt recognize IE8 is installed

Win7 64bit. IE8. When Installing AcrobatX, installation fails and says install requires IE7 or better to install.

Did you ever get a Fix on this? I am having exactly the same issues.
Works on machines without a D:\ (CDRom) but curious if you managed to get around this issue (apart from unplugging the CDRom)
My thoughts are currently to see if I can Disable the CDRom. maybe using Subst so i can point D:\ to C:\

Add-on failed to install because of failed connection to Add-On Manager

I tried adding 5 different add-ons with the same results. I even re-booted each time to no avail. It says it downloads the add-on but it will not install. Working with Windows XP-SP2 on an old Dell Latitude C600. Everything worked fine until the latest update. Tried removing Firefox and re-installing. Don't know what else to do. Please help.

Yaourt fails to install *any* AUR package

Hello, I'm new to Arch, but since my problem is pretty much specific to yaourt/AUR I thought this would be the better place to ask around.
I tried to install a whole bunch of packages from the AUR repository, but almost all that I tried failed to install, mainly dependency errors far into or after the compiling process, one example - the game Go-Ollie wouldn't install because the Image Magick library wasn't found. However, Image Magick is installed, but there's no trace of it's library not in the AUR, nor the community repository. Same with A7XPG - failed to install because something was missing that I can't find anywhere. I am starting to get VERY frustrated. It looks like there are a ton of broken packages floating around in the AUR and there are a ton of programs missing that I'm used to having on the other distors (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc..) What am I missing here? Am I doing something wrong or is AUR/Yaourt really as messed up as it seems? A little help?
PS: Please be easy on me, I'm still a grass green noob after all

The AIF was not ditched for any but the most simple reason: It was buggy as hell and the maintainer did not have the time to keep it going. It tried to do everything, to cover every scenario, but was ultimately a victim to its own complexity. The new installer is not more complicated, it is actually more simple. In more than one occasion, I killed the installer with this and sometimes even had to redo the entire process (incl. downloading the packages), because bringing the installer back to a specific state was a painful act. I find the current solution more user friendly.
If you feel like Arch could need a menu driven installer, you are invited to create one, but all attempts to do this so far either drowned as quick as they had emerged or were rejected by the other users, because they were either too specific, too buggy or generally failed to add anything to the process, that the current install scripts have to offer.

MacBook Windows7 install failing - ntkrnlpa.exe - "Windows failed to load because the kernel is missing, or corrupt."

Trying to do BootCamp Windows-7 install on my MacBook (running 10.5.x).
Detailed progress notes here. Latest: "Windows failed to load because the kernel is missing, or corrupt." (ntkrnlpa.exe) Hit `Enter` to continue, make next selection, but it comes back to error message. So shut down (power button) then reboot with Windows DVD still in there. Ended up with same error!

Best thing to do is nuke the drive, then reinstall Vista again.
I know this is a long process but should get you back running again.
Linux makes odd partitions that recovery does not understand and they don't get deleted properly, boot and nuke will take care of that.

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." When I click "Ok", another error message pops-up reading "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126)". I tried reinstalling iTunes 3 times now, each time with the same result. What is going wrong, and what do I need to do?

Kappy, I completely overlooked your original response due to it's small, one line nature and poor UX design of the area surrounding the message area.
Upon following the complete instructions linked from the link you posted (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US), my first attempt resulted in everything being installed except for iTunes. So trying yet again.
I do have Safari for Windows Vista installed, which is why I could not delete everything in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ folder. I'm guessing this is Apple's way of completely removing Safari Win from history (there's always an under-the-table reason when something like this happens with Apple installs, they just won't say it publicly). Uninstalling Safari. Uninstalling Safari removes the remaining "Internet" files from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\
Uninstalling iCloud. Uninstalling MobileMe Control Panel that was never used. That leaves only QuickTime installed as an Apple product on my machine.
Just for the record, I did not have this folder: C:\Program Files\iPod\
Emptied the Recycling Bin.
Shut down and fresh start-up.
Install attempt again: results in the installer saying something interrupted it (no other programs open)
Installing again immediately after error: Success
Clearly there are issues with this installer.
A pop-up shows up with "The registry settings used by the iTunes drives for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burining software. Please reinstall iTunes"
No other CD burning software installed other than what came pre-installed by Gateway and a install of Windows Vista Pro (or whatever the top expensive one was called).
iTunes launched. iTunes Library, items like Movies & Music, and playlists are still intact and usable.
Good thing I don't have these issues on my Macs (ahem, which is why these errors are allowed to persist by Apple to discourage Microsoft/Windows/PC use and purchase, all about the money and Apple has become the non-caring giant it once sought to overthrow as the underdog, miss those days).

It's quite simple. When the AUR package was created, the current version of Aptana was 1.0, but the source url links to the latest version. This was all ok until they released version 1.1 because then you suddenly have a completely new file that gets downloaded and because of this is will fail the md5 check.
It's very simple to fix though, in one of two ways. Either just delete the md5sum=() array (changing pkgver=1.0 to pkgver=1.1 would also be a good idea), or download the PKGBUILD and in the same directory as you store it just run makepkg -g and replace the md5sum array with the resulting data (this would be the best way to handle this...).

I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). I was given notification to upload the latest version of itunes recently, so I clicked installed. However it has since corrupted my itunes and I get the error message:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
In poor timing, I have also accidently damaged my phone and have a new one to restore it to an old back up.
It is because of this I am reluctant to completely delete itunes off my computer and start again for fear of losing my back ups.
Is there another way to fix iTunes so I can open it again?

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!!
