Failed back to back recordings on internet channel...

I've posted this on the BT Vision forum too as there was already a thread for the UFC issues but thought I would start one here too as we have a YouView+ Box
We have had BT's whole package (TV, broadband, phone) since we moved house in February as it was the cheapest way to get BT Sports to watch UFC without having to pay for millions of other channels we wouldn't really need as all we really wanted was a basic setup but with BT Sports so I could watch the UFC....
Ever since it was installed we have had the problem everybody else has detailed in other threads. If you set the UFC to tape prelims and then the main event on the same channel the second one fails. I exchanged a number of E-mails and phone calls at the time of first noticing this and was just told that it wasn't a known fault and no solution could be found other than "update your set top box software" etc.... Even when they asked us to try on a different channel, we randomly set 4 episodes of Friends to tape and every other one failed.
In recent weeks/months I have had other issues and work to deal with so have ceased going around in circles with call centres, E-mail support and your "live chat" support (Which I prefer to use due to having a slight speech impediment) who keep me queded for long amounts of time and then start the chat session with "Can we call you to discuss this issue", but I have been working around the problem by recording the prelims on normal BT Sports and the main on BT Sports HD. This works fine....  Which whilst it isn't ideal its a means to an end in the mean time. However there isn't an option for HD and normal for every channel which brings me to my next point.
Having tempororily forgot about this issue, the other night I set Sharknado 2 and then Sharknado 1 to record back to back on Scy Fy and upon checking our recordings yesterday the second of the 2 recordings had failed.
Even though BT claim there isn't an issue there clearly is and it's not just based on the licensing for the sports.
It only appears to affect the internet based channels as for the last few weeks I have sucessfully recorded back to back episodes of Family Guy and People Just Do Nothing on BBC Three every sunday with no issues.
I'm by no means an expert in this field but it would appear to me that there is some sort of issue with overlapping of recording times on Internet channels (i.e. the second program is trying to start recording whilst the first is still recording and this causes some sort of conflict as it would seem 2 things cannot recrod on the same internet channel at once).
PLEASE CAN BT RESOLVE THIS!!!!

Hi All,
We’ve been rolling out a network fix (unrelated to the latest software release) over the last couple of weeks and this should have resolved the problems you’ve noticed with back to back recordings. We still have certain geographic areas to cover over the next few days, but once that’s done, you should all notice that the problem goes away.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

After installing yosemite on my laptop, once I open the internet through Safari, it at times will freeze or discontinue working causing me to close the wifi and turn it back on then reload the internet page to get it to work again.  Is there any way to fix this?

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

  • Scheduled recording of internet channels failing.

    Hi all
Have been having an issue with scheduled recordings on Discovery, Nat Geo etc -
When the scheduled recording of a single programme or series is due to start, the banner at the top of the screen shows it is recording the programme, but by and large it fails. On checking the 'recordings' list, the programme in question is not in the list with the red 'R' as you would expect. Eventually, the programme does show, but as a failed recording. No other devices are in use at the time and no error messages are shown. If I catch it early enough and cancel the failed recording and then re-enter the prog or series from the EPG, it records the remainder of the programme and then continues to work fine for the series. There are no issues with my internet connection or speed - Internet channels in HD work fine. The Youview box is either switched on, or in low eco mode, so not a startup issue - The problem therefore appears to be related to scheduling in advance.
    Any ideas?

  • [Solved] Openbox fails to exit back to prompt after upgrade

I don't use any login manager so I simply boot to a console and start openbox manually via xinit.
However, after upgrade OpenBox fails to exit back to the login console. Anyone experiencing the same? Any idea on how to fix it?
Several programs got updated recently, xinit, openbox,... so I don't know what exactly is causing the problem...
I also have xmonad but that still works fine. So if I have to guess it's openbox's (3.5.0) issue.

Hm, here's a backtrace after running openbox --exit:

So openbox is calling XCloseDisplay() but it never returns because Pango is stuck trying to clean up?!
Edit: Others noticed it too: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=802086#c6
Edit 2: Are there any programmers here? Does this look OK to you? close_display_cb() gets called when the X connection is closed, and it calls pango_xft_shutdown_display() while holding a lock on fontmaps. Then pango_xft_shutdown_display() immediately calls pango_xft_find_font_map(), which also tries to acquire a lock on the already locked fontmaps. Bang!

  • Some Gmail features have failed to load due to an Internet connectivity problem.

This error message comes up both using Firefox and Chrome when using G mail. Also if it works at all,
switching from compose to draft just takes very long or keeps working.
No problem with G mail using Internet Explorer or Safari.
I have used Firefox for many years & want to go back when I can solve this Vexing problem.

    Thank you for your help.
I reset Firefox, re started and wanted to answer using G mail with Firefox,
and the same error message comes up.. When it does the screan gets
very lite with the error message on top.

  • G4 Box: Internet Channels recording & Playback

Given up trying to get the G4 to record an Internet Channel when in S/by (and its a Series Link), so now I leave it powered up and tuned to the Channel needed .... guarantees a recording (so far) ....
Next issue - 'Skip Forward' feature actually skips backwards, often to the beginning, but more usually to some arbitrary point ..... and then when you do start moving Forward, its too easy to reach the end of the Recording by accident, leaving the only option of quitting & starting over, rather than be able to skip back from the end !
    Sigh .............

I have an older Youview box but only get the skipping problem on random occasions when chase-playing an active recording.  It is fine when playing a completed recording.
If you go to the programme in the recording list then press OK to see the programme details then you can move the playbar to the desired point before resuming playback.  Worth keeping an eye on the time elapsed when you go to skip.

  • Helping with internet channels freezing constantly

I've had bt infinity for around 8 months now. In these 8 months I've had nothing but trouble with it.
The first two weeks the engineer installed faulty and the incorrect open reach white box and bt home hub. When it finally got sorted, I've had more and more problems. I'm getting sick and tired of having to call up an go through the same steps every time, even though I tell them I've already done that.. My youview box is the worst.
I can handle the internet dropping from time to time on my iPhone and iPad but the internet channels are unwatchable. I have the sky movies package and the extra + channels.. They freeze and break up every 3-5 minutes, it's worse when the weathers bad.. But it's currently sunny and decent weather so I don't understand why it's doing what it's doing.
I'm seriously considering going to sky because I never have this problem at my sisters, she has sky all the packages an her internet is brilliant, never drops! I've trouble shooted every thing.. Every single one that's available. Googling the problem shown me I'm not the only one. I'm constantly restarting and rebooting my open reach box, bt home hub and the youview. Everything's all up to date according to the advanced settings on both routers and the youview.
Can someone please give me back my sanity? I'm considering sky so much, even more so now. I've also complained and was not offered refunds or reductions. I'm paying £26 a month for my sky movies which I can't watch, and £13 ish for the extra channels. I've got the sky go app so i can get them on there when I'm not using my wifi. But it's beyond annoying now, can't watch nothing

    Hi
Why are you paying £26 for Sky Movies? They cost £16 per month: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/tv/extra-channels
Also the weather shouldn't affect your extra internet channels or broadband, but of course a poor broadband connection will cause problems with the channels.
How have you connected the YouView box to the Hub? Are you using a direct cable connection or homeplugs/powerlne adapters?

  • SPA 3000 to SPA 2000 Back to back remote extention setup

    hi all,
I need some help in setting up a PBX off-premises remote extension.
I have a SPA3000 and a SPA2000 connected back to back on my lan.
    PSTN - SPA3000 - SWITCH - SPA2000 - PHONE
Everything works OK, but I need it to work through the intenet somehow...
I have no idea how to do it and I will appriciate any ideas.
I was told I need to register with VOIP service provider, but it gets a little expensive to register two adapters.
Please let me know what can be done.
BTW. I am using dynamic IP in both locations.

Please let me know how to set the adpters to point to each other.
Lets assume that userid1 is 123456789.  To make a call to that user you would call [email protected]  Assuming userid2 is 987654321 to make a call to that user you would call [email protected]
Edit:  I believe you can also do it by dialing the 9-digit userid, but I haven't tested that.
I believe you would substitute one of the above sip uri's for your [email protected]
With your direct ip dialing you had settings of Register No, Make Call Without Reg Yes, Ans Call Without Reg Yes.  You changed Register No to Register Yes to get the voip provider to register.  If you change Make and Ans Call Without Reg to No then you won't get a dial tone if for some reason registration fails.  This would give the caller at the distant end a heads up as to why the call was not working.  You are not required to change it, though.
When you go over the internet it is possible to have some Network Address Translation (NAT) problems that you didn't have with a local network depending on the routers that you are using.  These generally show up as one-way audio problems.  They are usually solved by using NAT Mapping Enable, NAT Keep Alive, and some other settings including possibly a STUN server.

  • VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 support to connect back to back with VWIC3-1MFT-T1/E1

    Hi
i have two Cisco router 3925 and 2921 one with VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1 card and DSP PVDM2-32 with adapter and another one with VWIC3-1MFT-T1/E1 card and DSP PVDM2-32 with i need connect the two router using T1 port back to back .
the VWIC2 and VWIC 3 compatible for connect to gather?

Hi, the VWIC (any type) is the right product, will do exactly what you need (called channelized interface), and eliminates the need for an external unit and tens of cables.
E1 has 31 channels and that is the max. number of channel-groups that you can configure per port.

  • Is there a way to watch downloaded shows back to back??!! Help!

Is there a way to watch downloaded shows back to back??!! 'm a Mom to a toddler and the consecutive "play" option apple once had was a life saver when taking long trips in the car. I don't need to play movies, my son lacks the attention span to follow right now but disney junior shows keep him content with lots of singing and colors. I was able to press the "play" button on the screen and it would play all shows under a specific title. That button is now missing under the ios7.1.1 "upate". I don't know why apple would remove ths option but itabsolutley aggravating. Shouldn't updates make the iPad better not worse. The update was bad enough on the iphone but I'm so fed up with apple I'm thinking about switching to a better product. Apple really stionks now. What happened to being intuitive and user friendly?? DOES ANYONE KNOW SOME NOT SO OBVIOUS WAY TO PLAY SHOWS CONSCUTIVELY???!!! Please help!!
    Sincerely,
    A Desperate Mom

Not unless you can download the episodes to the iPod. Most of the TV show apps stream the content via WiFi so you need to be able to connect to the internet.
TV shows that you download in iTunes can be watched - after fully downloading - without WiFi.

  • How to find Requisition number of a closed Back-to-back Order

For a closed back-to-back order line how to find the requisition number?
Tried using the "Requisition Summary" form --> Related Documents(Tab) --> providing the Sales order number.
But the LOV attached to sales order does not contain the B2B sales order number.
Hence not able to find the corresponding requisition.

  • UCMA 4 and back to backing a file transfer request

OK, I know that file transfer isn't technically supported on UCMA 4.0, but I wanted to take another look at it and see whether there was a way to b2b a file transfer request. After all, there's no reason that it shouldn't work if the messaging is correct,
right? The scenario I have is A <-b2b-> app <-b2b->B.  I have an IM conversation going on between A and B, so now I'm trying to set it up so that A can send a file to B.
So far I've extended the platform to accept file transfer requests by creating my own call and factory classes, and then registering them using RegisterPlatformExtension.  This means that when A sends a file, the INVITE gets delivered to my application.
Now I'm taking that INVITE and creating a new b2b call.  A file transfer request looks something like this:
    TL_INFO(TF_PROTOCOL) [0]16A8.4B28::02/10/2015-19:53:05.007.001d492f (SIPStack,SIPAdminLog::ProtocolRecord::Flush:ProtocolRecord.cpp(265))[3939761282] $$begin_record

I've got my b2bed invite looking almost identical to the original invite by creating a custom MIME type on the CallEstablishOptions for the back to back call using something like this:
    Regex r = new Regex(@"^((.|\n)*)(\<request)((.|\n)*)(request\>)((.|\n)*)$");
    Match m=r.Match(args.RequestData.GetMessageBodyString());
    content=string.Format("Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable\r\n{0}{1}{2}",m.Groups[3],m.Groups[4],m.Groups[6]);
    opt.CustomMimeParts.Add(new MimePartContentDescription(new ContentType("application/ms-filetransfer+xml"),System.Text.ASCIIEncoding.UTF8.GetBytes(content)));
    opt.CustomMimeParts[0].ContentDispositionHeader = new SignalingHeader("Content-Disposition", "render; handling=optional");
So far the only differences I can see in my outbound message vs the original SDP are that the Content-Transfer-Encoding might not be seen as a header (since the SignalingHeaders property on the MimePartContentDescription is read only), and the Content-Transfer-Encoding
on the first MIME part (created by the BackToBackCall) is missing (even though I specified it on the PassThroughHeaders).  Even with all of this though, I still get a 488 on client B when I attempt the transfer (even though the invite goes through).
What I'm wondering though, is whether there's any way at all to get this working the way I'd expect, where a file gets transferred directly between A and B, without my bot having to receive it first.  The other approach I've looked at is binding my
own media provider class to customize the SDP, but if this MIME part approach isn't going to work, then I have a feeling the media provider won't work either.
Any suggestions on where to look next?
    Thanks!
    Chris

    Chris,
I am trying to do something similar to this and from what I have read and in talking to MS is that you need to extend the Call and Flow class which it looks like you have been able to do. Could I bother you to share what you have written? Maybe we can help
each other out on this. I am basically trying to create an application that will be able to capture a file transfer and save it, then send the original request on to the intended recipient.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony

Can I put two iMac computers back to back on the same desk - I share a table with my husband and our computers have to be placed back to back.   I noticed the tops of the computers feel hot!

There should definitely be a little space between them to allow for ventilation, but it's normal for the top area to get hot.
