Failed Conversion

I am trying to convert a publisher file to pdf, but I keep getting a error message. conversion failed

"... free Acrobat."  That'd be Adobe Reader as the "Acrobat" products must be purchased.
While Adobe Reader can view/read PDF it cannot create PDF.
As you are using Buzzword you're in acrobat.com space (one of Adobe's online services).
Perhaps you are using a free account? If so, it is less robust than the subscription (for pay) accounts.
The Adobe Forum for Acrobat.com has a pretty robust collection of Help articles as well as a User-2-User Forum.
You may want to browse over to it as that's where you most likely to get informative answers (this forum is for the Acrobat desktop application - Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Professional).

  • Archiver auto-imported documents fail conversion (GenWWW)??? :-\

    So I'm experiencing an unusual problem where the docs that are sync'd from another server go through "conversion" upon auto-archiver-import even though there isn't an outgoing provider to an IBR, all file formats are set to Passthru, and I have the "Copy Web Content" option turned on for the archive. To make matters worse, the conversion sometimes fails, which prevents documents from becoming released. There's no pattern as to when or why the files (xml, pdf, jpg, bmp, doc, hcsp, etc) fail conversion either; and not every imported doc fails.
    Some other symptoms:
    - The content info page shows "Indexing failed." under "Conversion Error" (is this as simple as a corrupted collection? we still use Verity)
    - The conversion status is "Failed"
    - The revision status is "GenWWW"
    - Once I resubmit it (via Repository Manager or doc info page), the conversion succeeds about 99% of the time
    - The IBR conversion succeeds on the source server
    These sync'd docs shouldn't even be going through conversion in the first place...
    Any thoughts??

    Frank Abela wrote:Not likely an indexer issue. The GENWWW state is valid while the document is going through conversion. Once conversion is complete it is set to Done. Only then is it ready for indexing. You can prove this by switching off the indexer auto update cycle and switching on systemdatabase and services verbose tracing. You can actually trace the inserts of GENWWW and DONE into the database even though no indexing is possible at that point.With all due respect, I'm not trying to sound like a jerk. But it's likely an indexer issue - here's why:
    I'd agree with you if we were simply talking about normal checkins and updates with an attached IBR instance. We aren't talking about the normal here.
    - You have documents being ingested via archiver, with a webviewable document already present in the archive, so IBR shouldn't be the issue - you aren't "creating" a webviewable in this case. Unless "AlwaysResubmit=1" is being set somewhere, these documents have no need to go back to IBR - plus according to the OP (Andrew, I think), IBR is not even enabled in the target environment.
    - stellentpmp wroteOnce I resubmit it (via Repository Manager or doc info page), the conversion succeeds about 99% of the timeIf IBR is broke, doesn't it seem like 99% is a pretty high success rate for a broken system for simply clicking a button - and no IBR is present to do the conversions to boot? (How can IBR be broke in an environment where IBR isn't even present?)
    - As I mentioned in my previous post, I saw ALMOST the EXACT same behavior less than a month ago when archiving documents into a system (documents archived had webviewables with no real need for reconversion). The archive imported, but only about 20% of the content indexed. Resubmitting individual items failed sporadically. Forcing collection rebuilds to index everything would start, but stop for no reason. When I looked at the system console output, there would always be a message ("text export timed out") on different items (never the same ones) and once this error was thrown, the entire indexing process stopped cold with no recovery. Increasing the timeout allowed the text export process to finish, and the collection was successfully rebuilt.
    Now the reason for the need to increase the timeout is unknown, but that may be due to file system access and the speed of the access to the file system where the text export file is being written, which is probably the "~temp" directory under "vault".
    Frank Abela wrote: If you're using pass through, then this is a file copy which is failing for some reason.Again, this would be a function of file system access, which fits with the text export failure scenario mentioned above. It would interesting to see if the behavior is worse at a given time of the day, or is it truly random.

  • Failed conversion with merging PDF files

    I am trying to merge 3 files together.
    Each time I am trying to upload them, they fail with the conversion.
    I know we are having a slow internet connection, but with other files it did work.
    Also with another file I merged, it did not merge in the order I wanted it to merge. How could I fix this?
    I hope someone can help me!

    Hi Gerard,
    What version of Acrobat are you using?
    Is it updated to the latest patch?
    Where are you trying to upload the files?
    Which OS are you using?
    Are you trying to create a pdf portfolio or a single pdf file of the 3 files?

  • Error Message Failed Conversion

    Converted a 19-page legal document to word.  There were so many work errors I would have to manually retype the document "...om1ss10ns,  taken  under  color  of  state  law,  defendants  had  caused  plamt1ffs continued con finement  under cond1t1ons that v10lated  plamt1ffs'  const1tut1onal  nghts..."  Is there another fix to converting the document with the correct spelling.

    Hi Lisa,
    Was the original document scanned? Those can be challenging to be read during conversion. Are you able to edit it in Word?
    Let me know!
    Kind regards, Stacy

  • Visio Conversion Failed on open method

    Hi all, we have developped a C# remoting application (.NET 1.1) that use Acrobat Pro v7.0 on server side (Windows 2000 SP4)
    This server application have to convert Visio files to PDF files.
    For this we use Acrobat Interop SDK as follow :
    Acrobat.CAcroApp app = new AcroAppClass() ;
    Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc PDDoc = new AcroPDDocClass() ;
    Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc AvDoc = new AcroAVDocClass() ;
    DirectoryInfo directory = new DirectoryInfo(myDirSource) ;
    if(directory.Exists)
    FileInfo[] filesInfo = directory.GetFiles(FICHIER_VSD) ;
    foreach(FileInfo myfile in filesInfo)
    // OPEN may failed
    if(AvDoc.Open(myfile .FullName, "Export PDF") == true)
    AvDoc = (Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc)app.GetActiveDoc() ;
    if(AvDoc.IsValid() == true)
    PDDoc = (Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc)AvDoc.GetPDDoc() ;
    string fileNameDest = myDirDestination+ "\\" +
    myfile.Name.ToLower().Replace(EXTENSION_VSD,EXTENSION_PDF) ;
    PDDoc.Save((short)PDSaveFlags.PDSaveFull, fileNameDest);
    PDDoc.Close() ;
    PDDoc = null;
    AvDoc.Close(0) ;
    }// end foreach(FileInfo myfile in filesInfo)
    app.Exit() ;
    AvDoc = null;
    app = null;
    The application works fine most of time.
    In some case the Visio conversion failed in open method, so no pdf is generated and Visio and Acrobat popup dialog appears.
    The problem is not due to Visio Data, because the same file can be well converted or failed!
    More when this problem occurs in application it occurs too using directly conversion from Visio or Acrobat.
    Some time we have to repair Visio and Acrobat Pro...
    We suspect that there is something wrong on the platform (context pb, install pb...).
    So the questions are:
    - is there a documentation about what Acrobat (PDF Maker) does during conversion.
    - is there any way to understand why "open" method failed (just return true or false).
    - is there any log file that can give informations about failed conversion.
    - is there some cache mechanism during conversion that can cause the pb during open file.
    Thanks for reply.

  • Conversion of Photoshop Elements Catalog from 12 to 13 fails

    Hello,
    On installing Photoshop Elements 13 I attempted to convert my catalog from Photoshop Elements 12. The conversion fails with the following dialog:
    I have followed all the steps outlined in this article (Troubleshoot catalog backup, upgrade | Organizer | Elements 6 or later) and still the catalog will not convert. The pse-conversion-log file states the following:
    conversion log: Started conversion from C:/ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs/My Catalog to C:/ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs/My Catalog temp 1
    copying entire catalog directory...
    error: copying C:/ProgramData/Adobe/Elements Organizer/Catalogs/My Catalog failed, aborting
    catalog copy failed
    conversion log: Conversion Failed
    The process appears to fail when copying the bReeze-18683.xml file.
    Can anyone help me please?

    Thanks Michel,
    When I made the copy of the catalog there was a file that could not be found and copied across, when I looked for it in the original catalog I found it was called b2eeza-18684.xml . So I thought I would try and convert the copy without removing the breeze data folder because this file (which may be corrupt) does not exist in the copy of the catalog. It worked.
    One note, in order for the copy of the catalog to work with Find More Catalogs the original catalog needed to be removed from the default location that I had it in. Elements seemed to detect that it and the copy were the same catalog and would not add the copy to the list of catalogs that could be converted. Once I had moved the original catalog to another folder I was able to add the copy.

  • Office 2013 .pub keep getting a conversion failure.

    I have 43 pages of .pub from Office 2013 that keep failing conversion in the single conversion and the combine files option.
    I purchased this subscription specifically for this task on time sensitive material and I cannot obtain the PDF.

    Sara,
    Thanks for your reply. I am on OS Windows 8.1 and Office 2013. I am on a server but I also tried converting offline at home. I realize that there are firewall settings in the laptop configuration.
    The project is a yearbook for our school so I don't think smaller copies of the file are possible. I'm not exactly sure of how you mean. There are Disney pictures (permissable) on them as well as photographs on most.. The printer was able to successfully PDF the files individually. This is the major project for us and I still want to see if I can get it to work. We have other occassions where we need PDF's and PDF to Office conversions but it is sporadic. We decided on the monthly subscription to handle those sporadic occassions.
    I was able to pdf the cover.
    My higher level tech support is coming down on Monday and I will pose the firewall questions to them but if you have any other suggestions for me in the meantime I would appreciate it. It doesn't make sense for us to pay for a subscription if it isn't going to work for us.
    I appreciate your advice.
    Regards,
    Kathy

  • Sporadic failure dng conversion

    I've recently upgraded from Windows XP (SP3) to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. At the same time I upgraded from 2 gb of RAM to 4 gb. Since the upgrade I've been experiencing random errors in DNG conversion. I usually convert to DNG inside Lightroom 2.5 by selecting the files to be converted and then use the command Library...convert to DNG. This process randomly freezes/hangs. I've tried using the standalone DNG converter from Adobe (5.5), but this results in random errors of DNG conversion (about 10 % of files fail conversion). The RAW files I'm trying to convert are from a canon eos 350 d. I've never had an issue using Windows XP. I've tested the RAM with Windows Memory Diagnostic - no errors are reported. I'm not experiencing other issues.
    I would appreciate feedback. Has anybody experienced similar issues? Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

    I solved my problem - it was caused by a conflict between Lightroom 2 and the virus software Eset Nod32. After uinstalling the latter, I have not experienced issues with DNG conversion.

  • Can't set the correct key when converting imported audio to GB loops

    Hi,
    I feel I am really out of options for this one. I am trying to convert a couple of mp3 files to useful GarageBand loops. This is what I tried first:
    1) drag the mp3 file on the timeline.
    2) using a steady 4-beat, match the BPM settings to that it fits the tempo of the imported file
    3) check the key of the imported file with a software instrument, and switch the project's key accordingly
    4) Edit -> Add to Loop Library
    Using this method, the produced loops show up in the Loops Browser correctly, but they play back in the wrong key. Example: I created a loop from a mp3 file that was originally played in A. I tagged it as being in the "A" key by creating a loop from it, with the project key set to "A".
    When it then shows up in the Loop Browser, and I would select this loop with my Garageband project (still) set to "A" - I would expect to hear the loop being played in its original key.
    It doesn't. It plays about four or five semitones too high (the difference between A and C, or C and E)
    I haven't been able yet to figure out why this is so, or if there is any pattern in how much the key is off.
    Then I searched far & wide, and found the Apple Loop Utility and a couple of articles on bulletsandbones.com. I also checked the midi import settings, though I doubt whether they have any influence here. They were set at 44.1 KHz.
    This is what I tried then:
    1) use bulletsandbones.com's never-fail conversion to AIF format (44.1 KHz sample rate, 16 bit)
    2) use the Apple Loop Utility to "tag" the AIF file, setting it so that it shows up in the right category of the loop browser, etc.
    3) also, use this utility to tag it with the key that the loop is played in
    4) copy the AIF file into the Loop Library directory
    5) start Garageband, and refresh / re-index the Loop Library so that the new loop is added and properly indexed
    This made no difference. Or maybe it did, but the loops thus produced STILL do not play back in the key that I tagged them in (if I set the project accordingly, of course). It's completely mystifying.
    I can omit a key indicator in the Apple Loop Utility, and only then does the loop play back as it should. But then it does not change with the project's key settings anymore.
    Even more strange: even a loop that I tagged (in the "A" key) and saved with the Apple Loop Utility, plays back too high in that same Apple Loop Utility when I re-open it. It does play back correctly in Finder's Fast Preview.
    I could not find any mention of this problem elsewhere. Does anyone have a suggestion what might cause this?

    I think this is the culprit:
    3) check the key of the imported file with a software instrument, and switch the project's key accordingly
    If the "follow tempo & pitch" box is checked, this might change the sample's pitch and throw GB off.
    Try to determine the sample's key before you import it, set the GB project's key accordingly, and then import the sample. That should assign it the correct key!

  • Teradata database error when using a Universe-defined Date condition

    I have encountered an odd problem when connecting Crystal to a Universe.  There is a pre-defined Date condition built into the Universe that is defined as follows:
    @Select(Date\Week End Date)  >  @Select(Conditions\User Response Select Date week -28)  AND @Select(Date\Week End Date)  <=  @Select(Conditions\User Response Select Date)
    The filter is designed to retrieve a rolling 4 weeks of data.
    When I try and create and refresh a Crystal Report that includes this Date prompt, I get the following error:
    Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details: 22003:(ODBC Teradata Driver)(Teradata Database) A character string failed conversion to a numeric value.
    If I create the same query in a WebI report it works fine, but in Crystal the error is produced.  I have also tried constructing the same prompt and filter within Crystal rather than use the pre-built prompt but that did not work either.
    Does anyone have any experience or advice on this error?  I can't seem to find many related postings on this specific error.
    BO Enterprise XI 3.1 SP2 running on Windows 2008 Server R2
    Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 running on Windows XP SP3
    Universe is built on a Teradata 12 source
    Thanks!

    One item I found I had to do with Teradata was cast my date/time values to dates, otherwise I got weird errors like this. You say it's working in Web Intelligence, so this might not be the issue, but it is an easy thing to test.
    In the universe, change your end date definition to
    cast(table.end_date as date)
    and see if that helps.

  • Best way to migrate existing XP SP3 partition to a virtual machine to run via Windows 8.1 as physical partition and not a vhd?

    Hi I have a current XP SP3 setup have been using in a dual boot with Windows 8.1(on separate partitions on different hard drives - I think these are SATA drives)  but now am thinking of migrating my XP partition preferably as a live virtual machine
    to be run as a guest via Windows 8.1 as host so I don't have to do the rebooting.  Also prefer this to making a VHD of my XP so can use the existing partition allocated for it rather than taking up extra space as VHD on my windows 8 (and don't want yet
    to replace my xp dual boot in case it does not work so well as vhd, as I have a lot of old educational programs my kids still use on it that I don't really want to put onto my W8.1).  Will also save time if I don't have to convert it to VHD first.  I
    also do not want to reinstall a new XP Sp3 virtual machine from scratch for same reason - will take too long to resetup -just use existing as is.
    I have used VMWare player and Virtual Box in past with an old 98SE system as a virtual VHD/VPC file but VMWare workstation is paid which may be the one I need to use a physical partition but I prefer to try freeware options first.
    Will Hyper-V in Windows 8.1 (I have retail PRO version of both my XP and Windows 8.1) be able to do the same as VMWare workstation?  OR is there another option to run the physical XP?
    The other thing with my XP setup is that the user profiles that people login with are located on a different partition E (80GB) to my XP which is on J (100GB) and most of the programs for it run from partition D (over 120GB) and the XP boot loader resides
    on a partition C (2GB) (which is not the Windows8.1 partition which becomes C only when it boots, but this C drive for XP may also be having the Windows 8 boot loader and files for that -using EasyBCD to handle boot menu of W7 type boot loader).
    So I need a system that can mount these other physical partitions also alongside with my XP partition when it boots up.
    So what are my options for running this XP SP3 setup via Windows 8 as a guest operating system?
    Also will doing this be likely to require reactivation of my existing windows XP (retail) which means I cannot then use it again if I go back to the XP dual boot at times or in case the VM setup does not work?
    Also do I need to change my XP first so that it boots off its own drive rather than the C partition - and how do I set this up then using EasyBCD or windows boot repair?

    HI I found I had to make physical disk offline to use in Hyper-V which I cannot do and do not want to do with all partitions - cannot choose just ones want.
    So now am trying to make VM of my physical XP -and other partitions neeeded but D partition is over 127Gb so cannot use Disk2VHD.
    Here is what am trying now - any other suggestions for alternate software to vmware convertor/disk2VHD maybe to do partitions over 127GB?  I have posted also at VMware forums but no answer as yet.
    Advice on doing a physical XPSP3 conversion to a VM for Virtual box and hyper-v ultimately
    Hi I need advice as to best way to convert an existing XP Sp3 install on a physical hard drive along with other related partitions to a Virtual box VM image with aim to convert that VM image to a Hyper-V VM for use with Windows 8.1 host.
     I have several C (boot ini partition), D programs, E Data, etc partitions and a current dual boot with an extra XP install I use as a backup system.
    My main XP is on J drive and other XP on I drive with C drive boot ini that switches btw 2 with J set as default.
     I have a D partition that is over 127 Gb so cannot use Disk2VHD which would have been easier, and it seems there is not a way to make a direct Hyper-V VM from converter but only Vmware VM?
     I do not have or want to purchase as yet VMware Workstation as have W8.1 Pro that can use Hyper-V to run my XP SP3.
     I seem to also have an issue with COM+ corrupted on my machine XP J drive ( It tried to reinstall the COM+ but my es.dll file won't register and I did get a failed conversion with converter when tried earlier at 94% saying VSS snapshots have
    reached their limit).  I think this is related to my COM+ issue which I am not sure now how to fix apart from repair install of my Xp (as I have tried repairing COM with various articles searched on google to no avail) which I may do first before
    retry conversion.  However my ALT XP on I drive seems to be fine with being able to browse the COM+ applications ok.  SO maybe I  can use that instead but it is the J drive XP I want the most (not sure if will work at reboot if I do not
    hot clone it?)
     I have read also the manual for converter 5.5.1 ver standalone and am not sure of a few things so if someone can guide me it would be very much appreciated.
     First of all which version VM should I make image of  if I later want to convert it to a Hyper-V VM image (I only have free Virtual Box latest ver, VMware Player and Hyper-V on Windows 8.1 PRo) ie: VMware workstation 10 or Vmware Player 6 or lower
    ver or other?  OR is there another software I should install for the conversion or later conversion to Hyper-V?  I prefer to use Hyper-V over Virtual Box and Vmware Player if possible, but should these others work just as well for my Xp Sp3 existing
    system as a VM in Windows 8.1?  Please advise which you think is best of these?
    Should I leave all configuration options off while converting and even XP licence, workgroup etc or is it most likely that I will have to reactivate my XP (retail ver) once I reboot in the VM although I am putting to run on Windows 8.1 host on exact same
    hardware as my current XP in dual boot (replacing my physical copies which I don't intend to use after conversion)?  Can I enter licence etc later as well?
     I currently have 8 GB ram total -should I leave Xp one at max it suggests of around 3Gb ram?
    I have Quad core processor -but should I make Xp Vm one dual core for when it runs on W8.1 host to allow the host some processors so can run at same time or leaving my Xp at quad core will be ok?
     Network - I want to use host one as I read it is safer for obsolete XP so do I set that at start or is it better to change this later too -allowing xp to have own internet access (maybe as may need to reactivate also - don't want to call Microsoft
    if can avoid it)?
    If I just want to convert resulting VM to Hyper-V VM -which software to use after for this that is freeware (Virtual Box or VMware Player or Hyper-V -not sure which can do it) and do I not then install Vmware tools?
    SYSPprep should I do anyway regardless of what target VM will be when configuring later, even if on same hardware machine? OR can I just boot Vm and see if boots ok first?
    Anything else I should set specifically for this future use of the VM image in hyper-v?

    If i remove the

    charsetisfromouterspace (note the missing equals sign)
    i can reinsert the message into the GWIA queue and it's getting delivered just fine.
    Seems that GWIA disregards an invalid charset statement, treats it just like missing one and defaults to us-ascii.
    If i set the statement to read
    charset=US-ASCII
    it starts failing again. On the other hand i can safely generate a file with pretty much the same properties (as for content-type and transfer encoding of body and attachment), paste it into the queue and can watch it being processed just fine.
    Does anyone see anything non-RFC-compliant in the message?

    I'll be honest. you've done great research, and hence it will probably
    be easier to push if you have an SR. Otherwise it's basically with us in

    us know what bug # it gets filed under and we'll jump in if things stall.
    i've opened SR 10811736311 2 weeks ago. while working on this issue i've found several other issues with the recent gwia builds, which are at least a little less tolerant than they've been up to 802ftf3 / 2012fcs.
    apart from other stuff i've noticed that a current gwia (i.e. 803 / 2012sp1 and younger) rejects messages which have a NUL (ascii 0) at the end (likely also anywhere else) of a base64 encoded attachment.
    apart from the fact that this character obviously doesn't make too much sense there i'm not sure if this is valid at all. RFC 2045 is a little unclear on this as it says that "...all characters not found in the base64 alphabet must be ignored by decoding software". on the other hand they could "...probably indicate a transmission error, about which a warning message or even message rejection might be appropriate under some circumstances".
    so does NUL belong to the "family of line breaks and white spaces"?

  • Libvirtd crashing on first startup

    Hello,
    my libvirtd seems to crash, but only on the first startup:
    root@horus /home/florian # modprobe kvm
    root@horus /home/florian # modprobe kvm-amd
    root@horus /home/florian # /etc/rc.d/libvirtd start
    :: Starting libvirtd [DONE]
    Produces in messages.log
    Apr 17 18:19:28 localhost kernel: kvm: Nested Virtualization enabled
    Apr 17 18:19:28 localhost kernel: kvm: Nested Paging enabled
    Apr 17 18:19:40 localhost kernel: Bridge firewalling registered
    Apr 17 18:19:40 localhost kernel: tun: Universal TUN/TAP device driver, 1.6
    Apr 17 18:19:40 localhost kernel: tun: (C) 1999-2004 Max Krasnyansky <[email protected]>

    but further:
    root@horus /home/florian # /etc/rc.d/libvirtd stop
    :: Stopping libvirtd [FAIL]
    root@horus /home/florian # rm /var/run/libvirtd.pid
    root@horus /home/florian # /etc/rc.d/libvirtd start
    :: Starting libvirtd [DONE]
    Now libvirtd is running fine.
    Any clue to that?
    Another question in this context: virt-manager says when I try to add a new machine that KVM is not available. Though it seems to be just fine. I'm using qemu package and qemu --enable-kvm runs fine (though I haven't done any speed tests yet).
    Thanks!

    There are quite a large number of topics about problems with flawed and/or failed conversion of mailboxes from Panther to Tiger -- See:

    The multiple Envelope Index related files are an indication of failed attempts to index. Also, the multiple Messages folders are an indication of failed conversion attempts.

  • SDO_UTIL.FROM_WKTGEOMETRY doing some odd math

    Hello,
    Can anyone explain simply what's going on here with the WKT transformation? Why are the coordinates snapping to some kind of grid? How do I control this and where is this documented? Why would I want my coordinates to go from 14 digits of precision to 38 digits? I get the same results with the straightforward use of FROM_WKTGEOMETRY where the fucntion

    Hello Siva,
    Thanks for answering my question, I appreciate your time. I would argue that the primary problem here is the utter lack of any documentation concerning this issue by Oracle. I am glad that Oracle will correct this in "the next version". Does that include 10g or just 11g? Does that mean that these utilities will be converted from java into the core database or just rewritten better in java?
    My organization serves basically as data middlemen and processors. We take data from various sources and then host it for services and analysis by our clients. The expectation is that we are not changing the source data beyond our documented processes (reprojection, etc). It not uncommon for a client to compare our output with the original data to see if we are following their specifications. As GIS professionals we value our ability to pass this scrutiny. I would argue that this java number jumble creates the impression of sloppiness. I do understand that this is meaningless in spatial terms.
    Lets look at my triangle again:
    Original valid WKT triangle from source

    {color:#000000}So if we institute a test and autocorrection of badly converted geometries:
    {color}<ul><li>geometries which convert properly get nutty precision added (out to 38 places in many case)</li>
    <li>geometries which fail conversion and then are rectified actually lose precision</li>
    </ul>
    The issue here is explaining and documenting this so that clients are confident that we know what we are doing. If I pass someone two geometries with 14 digits of precision and they send me back one with 38 digits and a second with 12 digits I might wonder what the heck they are doing to my data. Is there any place where these issues are documented in depth by Oracle?
    Thanks again for your time,
    Paul
