Failed Filter osx 10.8

Hi,
I just upgraded to v10.8 and now I can't print to my oki 430dn which I have connected wirelessy via Livebox-96C8.
The error message that I get is:
"Stopped - 'Filter' failed, 2 pages"
Any clues as to what I need to do to get this fixed, I also have a Canon Pro9000 MKII, which seems to work fine.
Thank you

Hi Kisuke3, I was about to do as you suggested, but as I couldn't remember how to hook up to my livebox, I downloaded the latest driver from OKI site and installed it succesfully and all is now working fine. So best to just update the printer driver if you have a livebox. Regards

  • How can I get Verizon to reset my dsl speed to 3mbps after I replaced a failed filter?

Last time it took me 2 hours of begging on the phone to finally get a tier 3 tech to reset my dsl connection to 3mbps after a bad filter caused repeated drop outs.   I'm in the same spot again, my dlink router shows my connection speed down to 2.1 after a lightning storm blew a line filter, when before my speed was 3.4.  There's got to be an easier way to get reset, it only took the tech about 30 seconds to do it!
All I'm looking for is an easier way to get my connection reset!!
If it helps I have a verizon dlink 2750b, I don't think it will give transever stats, but here is my traceroute.

For the last 7 weeks I have also been fighting the ASSIA Expresse Solution's 'Optimizer' product that Verizon and many others, atarted using to automate their DSL line speeds. I actually contacted the parent company, ASSIA, and complained to them directly about the lost of speed, and user's lack of control.
I just had my line reset by a 3rd tier Verizon person from Marylan - they were very helpful and did not give me a hard time, but as the previous messager asked, "Why the need to go through this?" I suggested to the ASSIA sals rep who returned my e-mail, that they give the customer some client side tool to allow a choice up to their max provision/profile speed, to choose speed over stability. There are times when I work from hom, that I need to mover a large amount of data, but if it fails becuase the line is a bit unstable, I am weilling to start the copy over again. Let ME decide how sable and fast I want things up to the BW I am paying for.
So for the past 2 weeks I've been routinely above 2.5 Mbps and then 2 days ago - max is 1.5Mbps. After 15 minuts with first tech, the next 3rd tier guy got me back up to 2.81Mbps - just likle that!

I dont know if the Framework errors are whats causing the errors when compiling above project.
Now when I open the project, set base SDK to a recent one and try to run @ALL_BUILD, its giving me 25 errors for DumpMainXMP like these (a bit shortened)

The basic linking seems to be fine from what I can tell. Dont know what else is causing the problem though..
When I am trying to build targets individually, I get even more errors.
    Appreciate any help
    Best regards bengalo

Aight, I dug into cmake a bit and found that i only needed to change <xmpdir>/build/shared/ToolchainLLVM.cmake to set the correct XMP_OSX_SDK
that also solved the problems of not being able to compile the sample projects.
In XCode it still shows up as a custom entry with "SDK not found" but the path is correct and I think XCode also figures it out when linking (cant recall if I tested)
Anyway its enough for CMake to find its way and I still manually changed it to use the latest SDK for my project...
I didnt get the static libraries to actually work yet but thats probably due to my noobness at dephicering compiler errors and nothing related to your project
I'll try to use the frameworks, maybe I have better luck with those =)
UPDATE: My C++ Standard Library was set to libc++ which is the compiler default.
I changed it to libstdc++ and it compiled. Maybe the default was changed, I dont know really, couldnt be bothered to find out though
Only included the header files so far but I'm fairly confident its going to work.
Have to figure out how to nicely include it into my project. Guess it's going to be a wrapper, not sure about how to do that but lots of light at the end of the tunnel...
    Thanks for your support

Darn, well I'm going to forward this along to our installer folks for their input.  It sounds like we're running into a permission error, so lets also try this:
    1. Mount the AdobeAIR.dmg file
    2. Open the Terminal application
    3. Type (or copy/paste) the following:
    cd /Volumes/Adobe\ AIR/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/  sudo ./Adobe\ AIR\ Installer
    4. It should then ask for your password inside the terminal window

[28/01/15 15:59:25] Help And Support: Can you please check for existence of file "com.adobe.PDFAdminSettings.plist" at the following locations:
    1. /Library/Preferences/
    2. ~/Library/Preferences/
This file might be already present on your machine if you have any other version of Acrobat installed. You need to rename this file or move it to some other location and then try installing Acrobat 11 again. Please let us know if you are able to install after following these steps.
    It’s only there in /Library/Preferences
I deleted com.adobe.PDFAdminSettings.plist from /Library/Preferences/ with admin privileges
    still the installation fails
    Any other suggestions.
I also tried installing with an Admin account, still fails!

  • Install Failed on OSX 10.5.5

I got a PS Elements 6.0 for MAC at the apple store a few months back.<br />The wife's new mac came in on Friday, so I finally opened up the PS-Elements 6 last night and tried to install it - and I got this:<br /><br />Summary<br />Successfully installed 1 component(s):<br /><green check> Shared components<br /><br />Errors: 1 component(s):<br /><Red X> Adobe Photoshop Elements<br />   Component install failed<br /><br />So I started a downloaded of the latest and greatest for MAC which said ~7 hours.<br />...later... I woke up and had a cup of coffee.<br /><br />Then installed this "Try it" version that I just downloaded thinking I could put the product key in later, but I get the same message as before.<br /><br />And I cannot submit a question for help because the product is not registered.<br /><br />Thoughts?

    >So I started a downloaded of the latest and greatest for MAC which said ~7 hours.
Are you referring to to Photoshop CS4?
Or are you referring to Elements 6?
If the latter, you need to post in the Elements forum, not here.
If the former, please give details about the Mac your wife has, exact model number, specs, installed RAM, video graphics card and its VRAM, etc.
Did you Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility before and after the installation?
BTW, you must be on a very slow dial-up connection.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in safe mode.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    for k in /Sy*/L*/Ex*/{,.?}*.kext; do test -f "$k/Contents/Info.plist" && /usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c "Print :CFBundleIdentifier" "$_" | egrep -qv "apple|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|CalDigit|HighPoint|hp-fax|JMicron|print|SoftRAID|stex" && echo $k; done
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered. You can do that by copying and pasting as well. Omit the final line ending in “$”. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 3
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null

  • Help - "Installation failed" Mac OSX could not be installed

I have had a really lousy day with the Leopard install. I got the five license family pack.
2 x white MacBooks - fine - although on one the DVD kept spitting it out and after about 10 goes it worked.
1 x Mac Mini - blue screen upon restart. Still not fixed.
    1 x 24 iMac - fine
    1 x 17 iMac - DISASTER
I need help on the last one and can't find a post anywhere.
I did the install. It started back up and I was ready to rock and roll. But it changed by account to "standard" rather than "administrator". Spoke to Apple, suggest erase and clean install, started that, then read a post on how to fix this after wiping. So that put me in a foul mood...
Then, I put the Leopard disk in and then did the erase, repair, verify, etc. I then chose the now blank hard drive as the destination drive. It then goes through the motions of calculating the time remaining, etc.
After about 5 minutes of "installing" I get a whopping great big exclamation mark and the text "Installation failed, Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer, The installer could not validate the contents of the "base system". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again". I have tried this a few times - no good. Apple Australia is now closed for the night.
So I went back to my original 10.4.8 iMac install disc and thought I would try that. I would then put Leopard over the top of that. It says it can't install this operating system on the selected drive.
So, I can't install the new, I can't install the old.
    HELP!!!
    Thanks,
    Andrew
    Sydney, Australia

Me and my folks bought a copy each. I installed mine on my Macbook Pro and there was no issue. I went to my folks to help them as they are not as confident as me and had a disaster. They have a first generation current configuration iMac G5 (the one just before isight was added). But the installer completely freaked. The log spat out heaps of errors. Each attempt got completely different behavior. Sometimes it would just go idle and do nothing more. Two attempts that got further than the idled attempts ended up failing about half way through telling me the disk is damaged. The disk looks perfect and the installer verification checks out. I checked the disk on my MBP and it checks out there too. No trouble starting up from it or accessing any of it's features. So I tried it out on my macbook pro and it works fine. So I checked out the iMac with disk first aid and it checks out also. The end result was I had to reinstall 10.4 and run the updates over it and give up. Took me all week end (just finished just now)... Also the ROM is ok as I installed the 10.4 version without a single error in the log. They will be returning their copy to the store monday!
    --- Added
Incidentally. When I installed at home I was able to deselect everything except the system essentials. But at my folks the installer wouldn't allow me to deselect the languages. The difference between the two is I did a fresh installer and they asked for me to just do an update. In my attempts I did end up doing an archived install, no difference. Only thing I didn't do was a format install. In the end I should have tried as I had to reinstall 10.4 from scratch anyway and ret a few things as the installer had partially installed the new OS. I just didn't have much faith in the formatted install from working either as at the time I wasn't sure if the ROM had an issue with the disk or if there was some fundamental conflict with the hardware, either case wouldn't suggest that approach would work any better.

  • Major Security Fail since OSX Update - Password Request from Screensaver & Sleep Mode

Like me, I'm sure you walk away from your Mac with the knowledge that your computer is safe from prying eyes once the screensaver or sleep mode activates.
    Not anymore..!
Since the recent 10.10.3 OSX update to fix a hidden backdoor API security issue, Apple have unknowingly left users wide open with an error in System Preferences' Security & Privacy.
It is recommended that users shut down their machine and not rely on screensaver and sleep mode security.
The password request does NOT work...
    Well done, Apple.

My Macs all ask for passwords still, however none of them will automatically start the screensaver anymore.  I have to manually start the screensaver using hot corners.
I would have believed it to be an issue with a 3rd party application or a specific configuration, except all FOUR of my Macs started doing this the moment I loaded 10.10.3.
The other oddity is, if I sit and watch my macs with the screensaver running, periodically the password prompt / login window appears like someone moved the mouse or pressed a key (except no one did).
I have tried resetting to different screensavers, resetting the timeout for the screensaver to something different....and of course, turning it off and on again.
Sure hope Apple fixes this soon.

  • Kerberos via Bonjour fails (Mac OSX Server 10.6.2)

we setup an test-environment with server and clients (all running 10.6.2).
we had added also "non apple" server-machines (debian linux, windows) successfully.
the desired setup is to have SSO via Kerberos and managing users in the open directoy on a mac-server. A sync with "mobile accounts", timemachine etc. works.
anyway I am stucked with the Bonjour advertisements under "shares" in Finder. It seems that Bonjour does not advertise the "FQDN" of the mac-server but only the hostname. So connecting to the server in Finder via browsing fails although a Kerberos ticket availiable.
Using cmd+K and connect to "afp://server.domain.com" (so using the FQDN) works, the connection is established via the Kerberos ticket.
I had a similar problem when integrating the linux boxes. Here "Avahi" is used to broadcast the FQDN so the connection can be done (aka the Kerberos ticket is used).
How can I have the same thing in Bonjour, mostly just changing the advertised hostname for an entry ?

    Reco,
In thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=647522&#647522 , Nemesis talks about "Inherit permissions from parent" requiring restarting the server. I don't know if you have tried that.
You have probably seen this in your searches, http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/322/322391.html, where Adobe states,
"If you use Photoshop CS without Adobe Creative Suite or Photoshop 7 or earlier, Adobe Technical Support strongly recommends working in Photoshop directly on the local hard disk to prevent data loss. Save files to your hard disk first and then transfer them to the network or removable drive in the Finder or in the Windows Explorer. To retrieve files, copy them in the Finder or in the Windows Explorer from the network or removable drive to your hard disk then open the files in Photoshop. This will also avoid problems that may come from differing network system setups (for example, Windows NT Server, Netware, or AppleTalk) and removable media device drivers not being completely compatible with the operating system or Photoshop."
If you are just supporting Apple boxes what about this as a work-around?
    1) Attach an action to a local folder. That action would copy any aded file to a network folder of your liking.
    2) Set up an Applescript to copy the file from the network to the local directory set up in step 1. You could go further and even have the Applescript open the file in the appropriate application.
Additionally, if you are supporting just 10.6 clients, you could set up a File Service using Automator so that the client could just control-click on the network file and trigger the Applescript.
I imagine a similar type work-around could be setup for Windows boxes also.

  • On the same iMac wifi can be connected in Win7 but not OSX Maverick

    Hi All,
I'm encountering a problem of connecting to wifi on my new iMac. I'm wondering whether anyone in the community has also encountered the same problem.
My iMac is a late 2013 model with 21.7" display bought just 2 weeks again. The OSX installed is Maverick with the latest update. I have also installed Win7 using Bootcamp.
At the beginning, the wifi connection was OK both in OSX and Win7. However, just around 1 week ago, the network connection began to fail in OSX. When logging into the Win7, I can still connect to my router through the wifi and everything is OK. This at least can proves that the wireless adapter in the iMac itself doesn't malfunction and the router works fine. Also all the other devices in my home connects to the same router through wifi has no problem including 2 iPhone5, 1 iPhone4S, 1 iPhone4 and a MBA 2012 model.
However, whenever I switched to the OSX any try to connect to the wifi ends in a failure. The SSID of the network is displayed in the visible network list still but not connectable. By clicking the name and after a while for the iMac to try to connect, a message saying "network cannot be joined" will pop up. Even by running the network diagnosis and specifying a static ip address for the iMac won't help. And I have also tried out some tricks in the community but all seemed not work.
Really appreciate if someone can suggest and help.

  • Printing failed

I have an Epson printer under Mountain Lion. For some reason I can't print anymore. I end up with an error message in the printer queue :
Stopped - 'Filter' failed, 1 page
I tried to delete the printer and add it again in the prefs, unistall and reinstall the drivers but it did not help.
I know some users are having the same issue with Epson printers under ML. Any idea why and if Apple is willing to fix that some day ?

Maybe this thread will help? There are a few threads here about a failed filter with the Epson driver, and the solutions have varied:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/19100838
The fix for this will come in an update from Epson.
