  • Trouble with new install od Desktop Manager 4.2

I'm new to Forums but I can't seem to fine help anywhere else!  I have had a Blackberry 8100 for a while.  All worked well with my old Pentium 4.  I have moved ovet to an i7 processor and Windows 7.  I have read a few messages on here and have corrected the USB power problem.  I have downloaded and installed Drivers DM4.5_B13 and now the connection is seen by DM.  I have a problem now that some of the program is in English and some is in another language!  I'm guessing it's Arabic or similar.  Things like Microsoft Outlook Takvim and in the fields section one side says Title and the other says Unvan or Address on one is Eposta Adres.
    Can anyone help me?
    D.O.
    Solved!

If you were successfully able to install BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2, I would go through the clean reload process as shown here:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320
This will make sure any old files are removed from your computer before installing the new one.

  • Installing Blackberry Desktop Manager Software

    Hi,
I'm trying to install the Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.0 Sp1 software
    onto a few PC's.
Once I've customised the setup.ini file and run "setup.exe /s" from the
local drive (or network drive), the program setup installs the software
    correctly.
However, when creating a Zen App object and inserting the following in
the "Run Options" tab, all I get is the MSIEXEC options screen (same as
    running msiexec.exe /?)
    Path to File:
    C:\Setup\Blackberry_Desktop_4-0_Sp1\Blackberry_DM_4.0Sp1.exe /s
    Working Directory: C:\Setup\Blackberry_Desktop_4-0_Sp1\
Any idea why the setup works when executing from Windows Explorer, but
fails when executing from Zen App objects?
    Thanks for the input...

    Hi Anders,
    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I definitely selected the option "A Simple Application (No
    ..AOT/.AXT.MSI file)"
It's worth mentioning that the setup.exe file calls an MSI file called
    "BlackBerry Desktop Software.msi".
That appears to be done via the setup.ini file. See below.

  • Problems Re-installing Desktop Manager

New to the board here and have a question maybe someone can shed some light on for me.
I'm running Vista Home Premium on my PC.  I had problems with the BB Desktop Manager software so I decided to uninstall if and do a fresh install.  Somehow, there were two identical versions installed on my laptop, and I could not uninstall either one.  I had to download Windows Install Cleanup to delete the first copy.  The second copy did not show up in my programs list on the Control Panel, but there was still a shortcut on my desktop.  Clicking the desktop icon opened the second copy of BBDM!  I found it installed under a folder other than Programs.  I had to drag it to the recycle bin to get rid of it, as all un-instraller software was unable to find it.
Now...I went to download and install BBDM again and it will not install!  I have tried the CD and web download versions.  No matter what I do, I get the following message on the BB InstallShield Wizard shortly after the install process begins:
    InstallShield Wizard Completed
The wizard was interrupted before BlackBrry Desktop Software could be completely installed.  Your system has not been modified.  To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.  Click finish to exit the wizard.
I have tried numerous times to get the software to install, but no go.  Any ideas on how to get the install to work?  I appreciate any help you can give me.

  • Is device software installed when desktop manager is installed?

If I use the BlackBerry User Tools CD that is supplied with a new BlackBerry device (81x0, 83x0, 9000 etc) to install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager will it automatically install the relevant device software at the same time?
If not do I have to go to my service provider and download the latest available device software and install it separately?
    Thanks
    Matthew

Hi and welcome to the forums!
The desktop software that you installed does not have the device software loaded.
You are correct go to your carriers website and download the latest OS for your exact
model phone. Select the file and save it to a directory on the PC, rather than run it from
the site. I use a directory c:\downloads. Then execute the file from there. It will place
the device OS in the proper directory for the desktop software to recognize it.
You can down load the detailed manual for your desktop software from the link attached.
    Thanks,

  • Can't Install Blackberry Desktop Manager - error 1303

Trying to install desktop manager and I get error message  "Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to acces this directory: C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\Blackberry\1003. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator."
I am running Windows 7, Home Premium, SP1.
Any ideas please?  I am the administrator.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I can find no formal reference to that error...perhaps you may have better luck searching:
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/microsite.do
    Otherwise, I suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
You may need to use the actual administrator account or an account with admin rights, and/or use the Run As Administrator option.
    Good luck!

  • Error 1723 - Long time loyal Blackberry TOUR user - cannot install recent desktop manager

I cannot install the latest desktop manager on Windows 7.  I have used this phone for YEARS and also syncd fine.  Now I am dead in the water.  The latest install package needs TO BE FIXED.  Well into the installation I get the following message:
"Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. ActionRepairRimUsbDriverNT.07D232B6_7904_4970_8B22_8F…"
I have resisted the urge to "upgrade" to the popular newer smart phones from other companies, but I will have to leave Blackberry forever if this problem is not fixable (fixed) within the next few days.
    Please help.

Actually, not quite...the issue for the OP was the Desktop Software, the link you provided is for Device Software. Indeed, the full portal for Device Software is thus:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
There is only one version of Desktop Software, while there are hundreds of versions of Device Software. The Desktop Software, installed to the PC first, followed by installation to the PC of the specific Device Software, is the best way to ensure proper functionality between the PC and the device. However, as with all technology, there is no 100% guarantee.
    Good luck!

  • Desktop Manager Install Error 1904, nothing resolves...

I have been having the following problem the last few days.  On my work desktop (WinXP x64) I installed the DesktopManager software without hitch, but on my home desktop (WinXP Pro SP3) I also keep getting the error message:
Error 1904.Module C:...GW.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel.
I am also getting the same error message for gwapi.dll, desktopsetup_pb.dll, and syncAE_pb.dll.
I am a very technical person so I had no qualms with trying the crackberry fix, but it didn't work.  I was able to register all of the modules after the reset, but when I would open up Desktop Manager it would never connect to my Curve 8320 vis USB or Bluetooth.  With Bluetooth it would recognize the phone and it would even pop up a message saying that it had "detected the device".  It would ask if I wanted to connect and I would say yes and then nothing would happen.  Another 30-60 seconds later it would pop up the same message saying it detected my Blackberry and asking if I wanted to connect.  After about the tenth time of this loop I closed out the Desktop Manager.  I uninstalled the software and deleted the program folders and then logged onto the "Administrator" account (my account is also an admin acct, but I logged onto the default admin account that is labeled "Administrator" by Windows).   Upon logging into this account, I attempted to upgrade the Windows Installer 3.1, but it told me that I have a newer version and couldn't do that (WinXP SP3).  So, I registered the atl.dll and tried installing the Desktop Manager software again (I'm installing v4.6 w/ Media Manager).  Once again I got the same error messages.  So I restarted and attempted to manually register the dll's again, and I'm now getting the error message:
    DllRegisterServer in gw.dll failed.
    Return code was: 0x80070005
So, to sum it all up, I've tried all six "resolutions" that RIM has at: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/articles/963/KB03928_f.SAL_Public.html, and the first "workaround."  The second "workaround" doesn't apply because there is no option to "ignore," there is only one button that is "Ok."  I'm starting to get pretty pissed off by all of this and I'm ready to throw the **bleep** Blackberry out the window.  I love the phone and it's capabilities, but if I can't use the capabilities then it's pretty much worthless to me... then I should have just gotten an iPhone or a WinMobile device.  It makes no sense to me that the software will install just fine on my WinXP x64 machine at work and not on my 32-bit home machine.  Usually it's the 32-bit progs on the 64-bit machine that cause problems.  When is a fix going to come?
    Here are my details:
    BB Curve 8320, OS v4.5.0.52 (Platform 2.7.0.66)
    DesktopManager Software v4.6 (w/ MediaManager)
    WinXP Pro, Service Pack 3
    Pentium 4, 2.80GHz
    2GB DD400 Dual-Channel RAM

I had a server die that used to do my Zen Imaging. I installed that server 4 years ago. I am trying to install it on a different NW6.5 SP7 server. It goes through the install process, but when it finishes, it has the errors listed below. Does anyone have some ideas how I can make this install correctly? I am primarily interested in imaging but I selected all desktop management components including inventory, etc. Thanks.

I seem to still be having trouble. I cannot find a imgserv.nlm on the server. I believe that is what allows me to see what images are sent and received at the server console. I am wondering if everything loaded. Is there a way to test my installation or is there certain nlm's that I should look for?

  • Can not install Desktop Manager because of DEP.

    Good day BlackBerry users,
I've just got myself a BlackBerry Storm 1, and I'd like to install the desktop manager.
I've downloaded the install from the site and I tried to install it.
In the beginning it's going well, I start it, select my country... but then...
...When I've selected my country and I click next the install freezes and I get the DEP error.
I've looked around these forums, but I do not get any help.
    Could someone please help me?
I'm pretty annoyed by this error.
I hope to get a useful answer.
    Kind Regards,
    Jurriën van Rooij.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately no, like with most software installations, information has to be written to certain parts of the computer, such as the registry, and you can't just use a USB flash drive to run your applications.
This error is a Microsoft Windows error and occurs when Windows detects code running from a protected location.  At this point, Microsoft is your best bet for support as this is not a BlackBerry Desktop Manager error.
    Thanks

  • Desktop manager does not allow to install 5.0 Firmware

    Hi all,
i got following problem. I try to upgrade several 9000 and 8900 to FW-Versions 5.0.0.190 or higher.
The Desktop-Manager recognizes the installed Firmwares and shows them BUT marks them with an asterisk.
    Then it states
"only users with an activ subscription the the Blackberry-Service are allowed to install this BB Device Software."
Can anybody help me with that problem ?
By the way: it worked once or twice , but now, on any PC i install the Desktop Manager and the Firmware Files this error occurs.
    Greetings from Munich, germany,
    Markus

The device you are upgrading must have an active connection to a BlackBerry Data Plan.
You will see this message if you do not have a data plan on their BlackBerry and they try to use Desktop Manager 5.0 to upgrade to BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 or greater.  Sometimes you will see this error if the user has never turned on the mobile network on their device so that might be all that is needed to work around this.
This is a new requirement of RIM for devices upgrading to OS 5

Sounds like your downloaded install of Desktop Manager is corrupt. Try downloading it again. Also, make sure that when you install it on Vista you right click on the installer and select Run as Administrator.

  • Blackberry 8830 WE & Desktop Manager v. 4.2 SP2 & Microsoft Office 2000

I have a 8830 WE and I am using Windows XP and MS Office 2000. I was told that V4.2 SP2 is the only version of the desktop manager that will support the sync with MSO 2000. Can anyone supply me with a working link to get V4.2 SP2? If not, does anyone know of a work around to sync MSO2000? Thanks for any help......

    Hey mstilesky,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 is not available to download anymore.
You can download any new version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager, however you will need to update Microsoft Outlook to 2002/2003/2007 or 2010 to perform any synchronization.
