Failed logins - secure network

can anyone help? I connect to a secure wireless network here at work (University). After some holiday (and the update to 10.5.8) I've some back and I'm having trouble connecting. I use the 802.1x stuff, wpa enterprise, ttls/psp. Usually it works a breeze, but now is spends forever trying the validate. Finally after about 20 mins it's finally validated and connected. This was happening last wek as well. Any thoughts? I can connect OK on annother Mac.

No idea?
Informatica thought that can be the unicode which can be make issues but for the moment no response of sap.

Our Windows 2008R2 security log is full of failed login attempt events 4776, but we're unable to block them because no IP address is provided for the network source of these attempts - like it was in Windows 2003 Server.

I've got a server running Server 2012 R2, it's got a few services and such, but lately there have been thousand of failed logins, they seem to happen every 30 minutes and there is about 10 or so at a time. I checked the application logs and there seem to

    Hi,
The event 4625 indicates a computer account failed to logon. You could run NLTEST /SC_RESET:domain-name command with administrative credentials to check domain’s health.

  • When turning on Advanced Security Network Encryption tnsping fails

    Hi people,
I'm installing Advanced Security Network Encryption in my server (RHEL 3), I've configured my sqlnet.ora as follows:
    SQLNET.CRYPTO_CHECKSUM_SERVER = REQUIRED
    SQLNET.CRYPTO_CHECKSUM_TYPES_SERVER = MD5
    SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_TYPES_SERVER= (RC4_256)
    SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_SERVER = REQUIRED
    SQLNET.CRYPTO_SEED = "abcdefg"
After that, tnsping do not work anymore, I'm getting TNS-03505 - "Failed to resolve name".
If I remove Adv. Security configuration tnsping become normal.
Do anybody knows what can it be?
    Thanks in Advance
    André Teixeira

Are you running tnsping from the server to itself? Or from the client? Has Advanced Security been configured on the client?

  • Does WLS security module cache failed login attempts?

    Hi,
I have observed some weird behavior regarding WLS security module
I have integrated OAM with WLS for SSO. I have my own identity asserter and login module. Here is the scenario
    1) I tried to login a user which doesn't yet exist in my application, let's say "userA". The user is in LDAP and OAM. Identity Asserter gets the token and passes it to loginModule. Since the user doesnt' exist in my applicatgion, my loginModule throws LoginException
    2) I added the user to my application
    3) I tried to login again. LoginModule succeeds (with commit() called). But it WLS doesn't authenticate, still bring out the login page ( I set the authmethod to both client-cert and form)
    <login-config>
    <auth-method>CLIENT-CERT,FORM</auth-method>
    </login-config>
    4) I either need to restart WLS server or wait for say certain period (about 20 minutes). Then the login user for "userA" works fine with no login page shown.
It appears to me that WLS has some user login cache which "remembers" the failed login. Even login module succeeds, it still brings out the login page. I have to restart server. Any one has same experience?
    Thanks.

I need to respond to this as I posted the previous reply. We found that our issue MAY be a known bug in 10.0, and here is the thread on that :
    http://monduke.com/2008/07/27/bug-in-the-weblogic-10-active-directory-authentication-provider/
This was supposed to be fixed in 10.3.0, which we are on, and as of this moment still experiencing the same problem. However we have 'use retrieved username as principal' set to true in our Active Directory Authentication Provider, which someone commented still resulted in the problem not being fixed, and we are in the process of trying out a file from Oracle that may fix the problem at this very moment. I'll try to remember to come back with our final resolution. Hope this helps someone else out.

  • Failed logins problem

    Hello, everyone....
OK, first of all, the players...
    1. NetWare 6.5 SP7 servers: a half dozen at the main office. One at each of
three sites connected with an site to site VPN tunnel.
    2. User laptop: Windows XP SP3, pretty well patched.
    3. Other considerations: VPN tunnel is SonicWall, an NSA 3500 at the main
office and TZ210 at each VPN location. Also ZenWorks 7.x is involved. I'm
not sure of the exact version, but it is some variety of Zen 7.
My problem: this laptop is single-handedly generating dozens of failed
logins on at least two of the three VPN sites.I looked at the Remote Manager
logs for these locations and the Zenworks Workstation Object is shown as the
    culprit.
Example log entry from Remote Manager (OrgName and TreeName withhelf for
    security reasons):
    Time: Thursday, 9-24-2009 10:35 am
    Address: IP 172.26.100.04
    User: .CN=AOS36816 WINXP
    00:1F:E2:14:73:CC.OU=Workstations.O=<OrgName>.T=<T reeName>.
I checked the NSA3500 device and the TZ210 device. There are packets (TCP
    524) going from the laptop to the NSA3500 device and then nothing is heard
from them again on the TZ210 device.
I'm wondering if the 524 packets are not getting send down the VPN tunnel.
And if that is the case, WHY is the server on the other end of this given me
    failed logins?
Am I making myself clear about this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello again...
    I also forgot something.
It sometimes does this for minutes, hours, sometimes week after week and
    then
It stops for no apparent reason and the count on failed logins starts to
drop after an hour or so.
    That's the really weird part.

  • Data Federator: Access Text file from secured Network Share or Sharepoint?

    Hi,
I am using BusinessObjects Data Federator Designer XI 3.0 Service Pack 2 - 12.2.2.0 (Build 1002172322) and I'm new to DF.
I am trying to use the Text File Datasource type to connect to a file on a secured Network Share and from a Sharepoint 2010 document repository. Is this possible?
I am currently able to use the Text File datasource to read a file from a public network share (
share\public\folderpath\file) or on the local federator machine using the "Local File" connection but cannot put in a username/password for accessing a secure network share. Is there a built in DF username/password that should be granted access to the share?
Neiher the FTP File System or SMB Share seemed like it would work here either.
For the Sharepoint connection, I know that I can make a webservice on a list and connect DF to the webservice, but I want to just connect to the document repository. I was unable to get this to work even with Sharepoint repositories using WebDav since the Local File method did not accept the url string (http://mysite.<org>.com/personal/<user>/Shared Documents). Is there any way to do this without having to change the way the file is exposed on the Sharepoint side?
How is this normally handled? Put the files on a unsecured network share or on the DF server? Import the files into a DB and just use DB connections?
Finally, is there a way to import XLS/XLSX files in DF or only CSV files?  I saw DI has an Excel Adaptor but didn't see anything for DF and when I tried it either could not retrieve the XML schema or reading the file's data failed.
    Thanks alot for the help.
    Kerby

Bump, any help here with Data Federator usage?  Sharepoint, XLS files, or using secured network share?

  • Cannot login to network account (leopard client and server)

Up until now, I have used local accounts on my leopard server. I want to start experimenting with OD prior to implementing. I created a new user account in the /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 domain, and have bound my leopard client to the server using directory utility. On the login screen, "Network Accounts Available" has a green button to the left of it. When I try and login to the server account, the login window just shakes. At first, I could enter the password and then it would prompt me for a new password. Trying to enter a new password would not allow me to login. I went back to server admin and disabled the "require new password" setting, (as well as the other good security policies)...
I have also reset the password in WGM, and made sure to disable all the security stuff there too...
Lastly, I have deleted the server in directory utility, rebooted, then added it back in, and rebooted again...
I still cannot login to the server account, the login screen just shakes
Does anyone have an idea of what settings and or logs I can check to try and narrow down what is going on?
    Thanks in advance....

to close out the thread, I have working dns on my network, but I did not have dns enabled on my server. I enabled the dns service and entered just the info for my server, then assigned my server and client to use the server's ip addy as the primary dns server. Next, I created the home directory.
Once both steps were done, I was able to log in from my client to my server based account...
FYI-I found a document on afp548.com called "leopard server: advanced setup, rsync backup and automated reporting" that walks you right thru the process...Here is the link, it's a very useful doc....

  • Can't Login With Network Account After Upgrade To Yosemite Server 4

I've been putting off this troubleshooting for a while now, and after trying everything I could find, decided to post.
    - After upgrading my server to Yosemite with Server 4, and my MacBook to Yosemite, I can no longer login with any network accounts.
    - I was on clean installs of Mavericks before the upgrade.
    - I'm using SSL for the OD, with a GoDaddy cert, the same one that was working on Mavericks.
    - I've tried removing the laptop's binding using the Users and Groups preferences dialog, which does not remove the laptop's entry from Open Directory, so I manually deleted the record on the server.
    - I then choose to Join again, and it looks as though everything goes through, but I still cannot login with a network account.  Also, when rejoining, it does not create a binding on the server.
    - If I use the Directory Utility->Services->LDAPv3, and add it that way, entering the FQDN and checking Encrypt..., Use for auth and Use for contacts, it asks me for the directory admin username and password, and does in fact create the binding on the server, but I still cannot login.  What's strange about that method, is that it forces the use of the IP address of the server, rather than the FQDN, like I entered it, which would of course have problems, because the certificate's common name is the server's FQDN.  It does not allow me to change from using the IP address, graying out that field.
    - I've also tried destroying the OD and restoring from archive to no avail.
It looks like many users have hit dead ends with this, with some having success by completely formatting and setting up a new iteration of the server, but I will not be doing that.  However, I'll be happy to try any other suggestions.
    Thanks for your time,
       -- Mike

Okay, I've finally resolved the issue, thanks to the Apple Enterprise tech support team.  I'm thinking they wouldn't mind if I share this information, but I can't guarantee that this will work on your system or, worse yet, degrade your system further.  However, that's fairly unlikely, just make sure you have plenty of backups before you begin any troubleshooting session.
So I was told to perform the following instructions, which I did, line for line.  The part about closing Server.app seems a given, but I'm not sure why they want you to open Server.app at the the end (maybe taken out of context from some other instructions?).  I did it anyway, but you should be able to begin testing, on a client workstation, right after rekerberizing is complete.  I did, however, need to reboot my client, login as local admin, and then binding would proceed, and network users are able to login again.  The engineer also let me know to expect an error, something like the following: "2015-03-11 21:58:38 +0000 Error synchronizing removal of attribute draft-krbPrincipalACL from record 72519e4c-7ac7-15e4-bd42-10adb1944cbc: 77013 result: 16 No such attribute" - this is apparently normal, and did in fact happen in my experience.
    So here's the fix:
    - Quit Server.app (don’t just close the window)
    - On the Open Directory Server, execute these Terminal commands:
      - sudo mkdir /var/db/openldap/migration/
      - sudo touch /var/db/openldap/migration/.rekerberize
      - sudo slapconfig -firstboot
    - Open Server.app
And that's it.  I did nothing else on my OD server, just logged out.  Immediately tried binding on my MacBook client, it failed, I rebooted, tried again, it worked quickly, and I'm able to login with network user accounts again.

I have found a fix after doing additional research through this forum. Tech Note #328730 addresses this problem and it works for Photoshop Album 3.2 even though it was written for release 1.0.
Here is a link that will take you directly to the Tech Note:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=328730
When using this fix the Tech Note indicates:
"Imported image data and tags are lost when you re-create the My Catalog.psa file, so you need to reimport images and reapply any tags"
however it did retain the captions (at least it did for me).

  • How Do I find My Secured Network I Created?

    I have a WUSB54G Router v4.  (hope I am saying this right)
I had to do a partial sytem restore and now I lost my secured network I created.
It is not listed in the available networks on the viewer of site survey.
Do I need to create a NEW one?  Is there a way to find the one I created?
I have all the information from when I created it but cannot find it listed.
Everytime I have to restart my computer I have trouble getting an internet connection.  I have to try several times to find access.
Hopefully I am making myself clear
    Thanks

Usually you can just display the available networks, and your network will be listed, then highlight it, and click on "Connect".
In some cases, especially if you set "SSID broadcast" to disabled, your network might not be listed as an available network.
To fix this, do the following:
First of all, in the router, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Also, delete your current network (this will remove any old settings).  Reboot computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and re-enter your current network info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  You should connect automatically.  If you still have trouble, in the computer, temporarily turn off your software firewall, and see if that helps.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.

  • Connecting to the LOB system has failed. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Serve

    Hi!
I'm using consume adapter service> sqlbinding >  to connect to sql database in order to generate sql schemas.
    I'm getting below error:
Connecting to the LOB system has failed.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider:
SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).

    Hi,
As suggested earlier this seems to be a DTC related issue. It can only occur if the DTC settings are not proper or if firewalls don't allow the default ports to communicate.
Check DTC settings on both SQL and BizTalk Box and also check if MSDTC service is up and running.
    Go to Start
    à Run
à (type in) Dcomcnfg. You should be inside Component Services MMC.
    Expand Component Services
    à Computers
    à My Computer (right click)
    à Properties
    à MSDTC tab
    à Security Configuration button.
Select the checkboxes as following :
Check the below article from Microsoft Support Team, they have listed all the errors which may come during setting up a new system. They also have your MSDTC error listed.
Resolving the issues you may face during BizTalk Runtime Configuration
    Thanks,

We have to implement the mailing system in linux.,to send the mail regarding failed login attempts and ip address of user who attempted the failed login.,any one have the idea on this?
    Regards.,
    Vaaru

Running an old beta version of RHEL is a bad idea. If you are concerned about security and operation of your OS I suggest to use a more recent release version. You can download, install and use Oracle Linux for free.
Mail processing of failed login attempts is not a good idea and to my knowledge there is no such built-in system setting. I suggest you read the standard documentation or search the Web for information on how to set up a mail system. You will probably need to create a custom script to process failed login attempts.
