Failed to export unexpected problem
I just signed up so I can adjust one PDF file and it fails to export?
Hi, 1davod.
We're sorry for the issues you're having. Are you experience this failure with all PDFs or 1 PDF in particular? If you can send us a copy of the problematic PDF to our File Conversion Issue form, we can try to diagnosis the issue. In the form, please include a link to this forum conversation, so we can link the two conversations.

Export PDF won't upload, says "unexpected problem" what gives?
I just purchased the Export PDF and the document I want to upload is 22MB, so size shouldn't be the issues. It comes up as "Failed to Export" -- There was an Unexpected Problem" Please help as this is really pissing me off! Thanks. mm
Thanks Sarabjit!
I have found that whether the export works or fails depends on which network I am connected to. The difference between the tested networks have been the firewall rules. Typically company networks vs broadband modems over GPRS/UMTS where the first one fails while the last one succeeds. I would suggest you 1) specify what ports are in use by Export PDF, 2) put this into the requirements for the service, 3) make available support articles with this information and 4) update the error-handling in the program to give the user a more helpful and understandable error message.
PS! Another suggestion: Why not change the program to use ports that is (in 99%) always open through firewalls?

Unexpected problem; We rrecently upgraded to version 3. Export of multiple tracks in a multitrack session makes each file length same as longest file. Didn't do that in Vers 2 of soundtrack
Hmm... Ok, so I took that project and tried importing it to a new project, still with no luck. Then I tried taking that project and creating a new timeline by dragging one of the stills to the new item icon so that I'd get whatever PrPro decided was the best timeline, and still no luck. Then I tried creating a new project and importing different footage and it worked. Tells me perhaps there's something wrong with the stills? I know not to use overly-large stills in a project, but they're all around 4k resolution or smaller... so surely that's not too big, right? 412 stills total 1.5GB which means an average of about 2.5 MB per file... certainly not too big. I even had a couple video clips in the timeline that were shot with a point-and-shoot still camera, and I tried taking those out just in case it was something in those, and still no success.
So, ultimately this project got exported without CUDA, and I'm okay... but I also am wondering what caused the problem? I do a fair amount with stills (not a lot, but enough) and I need it to work... do I just go on with life, assuming that it was some weird fluke? Or do I try a complete wipe and reinstall of OS and Programs?
Oh, one other tidbit... whenever PrPro crashed and closed, the application itself wouldn't close. I have to go into the program manager and force quit it...
Thoughts? Recommendations? -
Export PDF says "Unexpected Problem"
Hey Adobe,
I've tried to export several pdf files to convert them to word and have recieved the unexpected problem prompt for nearly every one of them. Most of the files are around 20MB and are scanned pages. I have an account, and have paid for the one year subscription. Is there anything you guys can do for me?
Thank you,
LiamHi!
Please send us a copy of the file here with a brief description so we can take a look at it. Thanks! Sorry for the problems.

My 22 MB pdf file "Failed to export to Word."
I have tried several times to convert a 22 MB pdf file to Word, but I receive this error message every time: "File failed to export to Microsoft Word. There was an unexpected problem." No further explanation is available. I know my ExportPDF is working, because I have tested several other smaller files. I even tried using a different browser (Chrome and IE) and home and work computers. I checked the permissions of the document and I have all that are available. The pdf document seems to upload OK although it takes a few minutes because it's large, but then I receive the error message. I got the original file from an internet site (legitimate). Any ideas?
Try disabling OCR with these instructions: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3062 to see if that helps.
If it doesn't, please open the PDF in Adobe Reader and choose File > Properties. Let us know what it says next to 'Application' and 'PDF Producer' -
I've tried to download my first 2 pdf files to excel and I get 'unexpected problem, file failed to export'. Does this service actually work? If not, I'd like my moeny back.
Hi,
To disable OCR:
1) In web ui at https://exportpdf.acrobat.com turn off the box for "Recognize scanned text in" in Export Option dialog.
2) In Adobbe Reader
Turn on the box for "Disable Text Recognition" in OCR Setting after clicking "Change" under "Recognize text in English(US)"
You can download Acrobat XI Pro trial version from www.adobe.com and install it on your computer.
Then open your PDF file in Acrobat and select File menu > Save As Other > Microsoft Word.
Thank you.

Hi,
I am trying to export a 1,013 KB file to excel, and keep getting the error message 'failed to export to excel - encountered an unexpected problem'
Is there any way to see what the problem is, and how to resolve it?
LizPHi Stacy,
There was no scan involved, but there is a company logo on each page. The only difference between the files already converted and the one that failed is the size. This one is 427 pages.
Kind regards,
Liz

Why has my pdf document "failed to export"?
I've just bought a subscription to export and convert pdf files to Word files, and only the second document I tried to convert is refusing to do so, giving the message "failed to export. There was an unexpected problem". Is there anything I can do to get this to work?
Hi Robin,
Can you share the file with us via the File Conversion Issue form? Please include a link to this thread in your description of the issue.

After uploading my pdf, I was told that it failed to export to Word due to an unexpected problem. Now what?
The problem with filling out the File Conversion Issues Form is that it requires an upload. My file is 22.9 MB. But the form limits the upload to 20 MB. As I understand it, the allowable size for conversion on line is 100 MB. This is stated in a number of areas. If the limit is 20 MB (I'll try splitting the file next), it would be useful to say that. Also, there are a number of comments on the same subject with no reply. It would be helpful to direct people to the answer without having to trace throught 50 or so comments on the "unexpected problem" before finding an answer. Like others, this is a one-off task. For my $20, I would expect the on-line program to at least give me some guidance as to what the problem is.

every pdf file I try to export comes up failed to export to Microsoft Word, there was an unexpected problem
I tried this with a new - blank Pages file with just one word on it. It still fails to export with a "print error". The work around of using Print and saving as a PDF does not address my problem. I want to Export to PDF so that my Links and bookmarks are preserved in PDF. Printing only gets the image of my Pages file to PDF but with no special features.
Has anyone resolved this export problem yet? Could it be a bad or corupt preference file or similar system file conflict. I have seen sometimes where in some apps you can delete certain preferences and resources and then re-run to correct the problem..... could this apply to Pages and what would be removed to make it work? -
PDF file failed to export to Excel
I have tried twice to export a pdf to excel and the program fails consistently.
In both cases the message is that the "Filename.pdf" failed to export. There was an unexpected problem.
The program uploads the file and attempts to convert for 5 to 10 minutes before generating the failure message.
I tried removing the check in the box that says Recognize Scanned Text In:
No help.i just bought the program and tried to convert pdf to excel it does it but not the way its on PDF
all scrambled, I might as well type everything! but that's not why I bought the license!!
