Time Machine backups fail after initial drive connection, cannot eject drive
I have a Macbook Pro 13" Retina Display, 8GB running OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 and have set Time Machine backups to a 1TB WD My Passport. When I first connect the drive the backup will run fine, but subsequent backups always fail. In addition I typically cannot eject the drive. I've scoured online forums and have completely reformatted the drive, and have even deleted some backup settings files from the hard drive, none of these has resolved my issue.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes.) You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard."
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamp of the last "Starting" message that corresponds to the beginning of an an abnormal backup. Now
CLEAR THE WORD "Starting" FROM THE TEXT FIELD
so that all messages are showing, and scroll back in the log to the time you noted. Select the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ If all you see are messages that contain the word "Starting," you didn't clear the text field.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -
Time Machine backups fail after initial backup in Yosemite
After upgrading from Mavericks to Yosemite, I was able to run one backup to my trusty USB drive. Subsequent backups all start with "Preparing backup", and will write roughly 900KB to disk (or so it says) and then fails. I created a Time Machine-compatible network drive on my Drobo 5n, and again, the initial backup is successful, and subsequent ones fail. This is concerning and infuriating. I'm hoping someone out there has encountered this problem as well.
Please note: this is regarding backups only. I see a handful of discussions about not being able to perform restores in Yosemite, but that is not my issue.Same here.
From Time Machine Buddy app:
Starting manual backup
Total content size: 424.3 GB excluded items size: 21.01 GB for volume Macintosh HD
Found 2439814 files (403.3 GB) needing backup
424.87 GB required (including padding), 250.63 GB available
Deleted backup /Volumes/Backupmac/Backups.backupdb/.df. (3)/2014-10-23-120445.inProgress/F8CFC567-7E6E-49B0-B366-88DF31DAF49B containing 4 KB; 250.63 GB now available, 424.87 GB required
Removed 1 expired backups so far, more space is needed - deleting oldest backups to make room
Deleted 1 backups containing 4 KB total; 250.63 GB now available, 424.87 GB required
Backup date range was shortened: oldest backup is now Oct 23, 2014
Backup failed with error 7: Not enough available disk space on the target volume.
It wants to do a full backup. Fine... so why doesn't it just delete more of the old backups to do so? I don't want to wipe the backup drive and start over now, but that seems like the only way to go. -
I tried to update Photoshop CC 2014, but it failed at 75%, with error code U44M1I210. After restarting my system, it still failed so I uninstalled the app, per this article: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1i210-installing-updates-ccm.html
Now the reinstall won't complete, and I'm getting error -55. The one other article that seemed relevant looks like the person had to uninstall and reinstall all his Adobe software after creating a new admin account on his computer (When I try to update I get an U44M1I210 error message, "Unable to extract the downloaded files" - help please, applies to latest Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CC), and I'm hoping there is a better solution than the hours that will involve.
Running on OSX 10.7.5.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!GundamCat what specific errors were you able to discover in the installation log for the update?

IPhoto 11 - Edit tools fail after initial use of program
Running 10.6.8 (all updates complete) on new MacBook. Began editing newly imported photos - edit features failed after first 50 photos. I have tried...
* updated all Mac Software
* deleted user iPhoto preferences, emptied trash, reopened
* repaired iPhoto library, etc....
Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions for repair/recovery?Try this: launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it does then a reinstall of iPhoto seems warranted. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,
Click to view full size
Then install iPhoto from the disk it came on originally.

CC patch fails after initial install
I have a new laptop (Win 8) and am installing CC apps. After downloading the apps, the app manager gives me the following error message:
Installation succeeded, but a patch failed.
This behavior has been consistent for Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and InDesign. When I try to update afterwards, it simply said "Patch failed."
Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?
Thanks.Hi jefferymoulton,
Welcome to the Community!
Likely you will need to review your installation logs similar to your previous discussion at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1326319. Please see Error U44M1I210 | Install updates - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1i210-installing-up dates-ccm.html which discusses the steps you have performed so far. The next step will be to review the installation log files to determine the exact error you are receiving.
Please see Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc. html for information on how to locate and interpret your installation log files. You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

Download fails if initiating page is closed - What next?
Clicking on a download link starts download, but --
If I close the window with the download link, the download fails with "can't read source".
If the download link opens a temporary window, the download fails with the same error.
This is repeatable and happens on any site. Does not happen with Safari.
What troubleshooting steps should I follow?I suggest you ask on the snow leopard server forum

Failing while initializing static data
hie all!
i'm making a jar file using build.xml configuration.
<target name="makejar">
<jar destfile="${lib.dir}/${jar.name}" basedir="${base}/bin/">
<manifest>
<attribute name="Main-Class" value="${jar.main-class}"/>
<attribute name="Class-Path" value="1.jar 2.jar 3.jar 4.jar"/>
</manifest>
<fileset dir="${lib.dir}"/>
</jar>
</target>
Now, in the main class, i m creating static icon as:
new ImageIcon(new Object().getClass().
getResource("/mypackage/icons/pid.gif"));
But i when i execute the jar : java -jar my.jar
it fails with NullPointerException at javax.swing.ImageIcon(Url) construtor.
The icons are inside the package.
How can i resolve getting URL object for the icons?
One more thing is that ... the jar files are inside this my.jar
Upon looking at few messages, i saw, we need to unjar the jar to use
the jar files inside it.
But, then how can i use my jar for webstart demonstration, which is the ultimate purpose.
Please give your valuable suggestions about the mentioned problems.
Thanks and Regards,
GirirajAssuming you have the following package structure.
\mypackage
...my.jar
...other1.jar
...other2.jar
...\icons
......pid.gif
Try
// note only the path under the root with no leading slash.
new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("icons/pid.gif"));The other jar files will not work if they are inside your jar "my.jar";
Just place the other jars in the same directory as your jar and they will be automatically downloaded.
Note you will need the other jars listed in your manifest class-path.
Class-Path: . icons/ other1.jar other2.jar
Note the jars must also be in your JNLP
<resources>
<j2se version="1.4+"/>
<jar href="my.jar"/>
<jar href="other1.jar"/>
<jar href="other2.jar"/>

Request is failing while Initializing delta(without data)
I am facing this error while Initializing delta load. pls provide me the solution.
Request REQU_3X0SE4NMKVSV8RHYUF24SL4UB(207,922) has not or not correctly been updated; Please edit.
Activation of data records from ODS object YF_O47 terminated.
Request REQU_3X0SE4NMKVSV8RHYUF24SL4UB(207,922) has not or not correctly been updated; Please edit
Message no. RSM096
Diagnosis
Request REQU_3X0SE4NMKVSV8RHYUF24SL4UB (207,922) for DataSource 8ZMXAPO03 from source system BW2-021 has the status (green) and a smaller SID (is thus older) than the request that you currently want to update into the ODS object.
System response
This is not possible since the sequence of the requests must be kept when wanting to update them into an ODS object. Delta- and init. requests must be updated into the ODS in the request sequence.
Procedure
First update request REQU_3X0SE4NMKVSV8RHYUF24SL4UB(207,922) for DataSource 8ZMXAPO03 from source system BW2-021 from the PSA into ODS object.
If you do not need the data in request REQU_3X0SE4NMKVSV8RHYUF24SL4UB (207,922) in the ODS object, you can also set the total status for this request to (red) in the Monitor, on theStatus tab page. When checking for completeness, the system then ignores the request.
Thanks in advance
Raghavendra Rao kolli.There is old request REQU_3X0SE4NMKVSV8RHYUF24SL4UB not being deleted and causing the problem.
GO TO PSA tree of this infosource and delete the request.
Also DO you need any data already avilable in the ODS ?
If not required delete all psa data from psa tree.

"Updating the IPAM GPO failed" during initial IPAM setup
Today I wanted to try the IP Address Management feature in Windows Server 8 beta, but I could bring my domain-joined servers into the IPAM Server Inventory.
I tried to follow the
steps in this Blogg to set up IPAM.
The only server I can see in my inventory is the DC but if I try to switch it to "managed" I get a strange "No operation operation for ... failed" error:
This happens after I already created the GPOs using Invoke-IpamGpoProvisioning and the DC's Group Policy Management Console shows the GPOs:
Any Ideas how I can add the servers to the inventory and/or how I can fix the GPO issue?Hi Tiger Li,
thanks for your hints!
Yes, there might have been a connectivity problem between the IPAM server and the DC. And yes, the DC is the preferred DNS.
I rechecked the settings with the steps in the Guide, and I got stuck at the following steps:
- Configure settings for the IPAMGPO_DHCP GPO
In Group Policy Management Editor, expand
Computer Configuration>Policies>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Windows Firewall with Advanced Security>Windows Firewall with Advanced Security – LDAP://…>Inbound Rules.
Right-click
Inbound Rules, and then click New Rule.
In the New Inbound Rule Wizard, click
Predefined, and select DHCP Server Management from the drop-down list.
Click
Next.
Well, there seems to be no predefined rule "DHCP Management":
Any idea how to fix that? -
VSM 7.5 Upgrade Application Failed Still initializing
After upgrading from 7.1 to 7.5 and all reports appeared fine when trying to login to the VSOM page I get the attached error. It never actually initializes after 24 hours. I can login to VSM and see 2 of 3 service sucessfully started. The Operations Manager overall status report critical. Image 2 attached. Has anyone done and upgrade from 7.1 and seen this and come up with a fix?

Thank you so much for some help on this. Its driving me crazy. I'm suprised others haven't seen this issue as well. I have a fairly new, clean install and this was the first upgrade so there isn't alot of baggage on this server yet. I thought it would have went clean. It looks like all services are running.
