Failed to install 1 file

I recently upgraded to a Palm T/X and after a couple of issues with synchronizing and installing files I think I've  got the issues solved by changing the conduit of certain programs and upgrading to the new Palm Desktop (which I don't like as well as the old one but, Oh well!) it works OK specially installing files and that is all that matters.  My recent issue is with a program I bought to back up my Palm since I no longer could do it by just inserting the backup card and restoring or backing up. This is the message I get when synchronizing: Failed to install 1 file(s) - BackupBuddyVFS.PRC - Invalid handheld file (file deleted) -  Conduit Error: Invalid synchronization type (1012) - CONDERR_BAD_SYNC_TYPE.
I appreciate any help I can get, hopefully this is the last issue I have and I can start enjoying my new Palm.
Thanks!!!

I upgraded from a Palm Zire72 and I'm pretty sure I followed the installation and synch instructions but I don't recall it asking to rename the backup file but I may be wrong.  I've downloaded other applications including NVBackup without any problems.  I guess I don't need it now since I have NVBackup but I paid for BackupBuddy and would like to see what it does.  The one thing I can tell you is that I deleted a few files that I thought I no longer needed to make some room such as a couple of games and AvantGo.  Hope this gives you some ideas and can help figure it out.

  • WLAN driver fails to install on G580 Windows 7 x64 with error "BCM4313: Can not find setup file"

    Summary:
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my G580.  Everything is working fine except the WLAN driver fails to install with the error "BCM4313: Can not find setup file".
    Details:
I bought lenovo G580 with Windows 8.  Since my parents are not comfortable with the learning curve of Win 8, I successfully downgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.  Everything is working fine but my WLAN card is not recognized because of lack of driver.
The lenovo parts look-up page says I have broadcom WLAN card - CBT BCM4313 MOW HMC WLAN
I looked at lenovo driver downloads site and tried following driver files for Windows 7 and both of them failed to install with the following error.  I tried installing other WLAN drivers also but they won't even install as required hardward is not there.
Error -  "BCM4313: Can not find setup file"
    Drivers Tried:
    - http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028208
Any help about how to get past this error will be appreciated.  The previous Widnows verison (Windows 8) is still on my hard-drive as windows.old folder.  Let me know if I can copy a specific file from there.
    Thank you.

    Go to Solution.

    Download this driver bcm4313
Start setup and extract the files. After that go to star menu/control panel/system/device manager. There you probably find out that network adapter driver is missing.Choose it and click with right mb for drop menu to show up.Select properties then Driver/Update Drivers...Select to load driver from computer hard drive and choose the path where extract files is.Default path is main partion C: and search for directory named Driver.
And yes...you get "Can not find setup file" error but dont worry.Files needed to instal driver are extract fine.

  • An error occurred while attempting to install the BizTalk application: Failed extracting CAB files.

    Ok I have a BizTalk Application that's called :
    FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200
I know that is a long name but why should I be punisched when I create an installer for that. I also have a WebService that exposes this schema. And this webservice is stored inside the MSI cab files. So far so good.
But now when I try to install this MSI alongside all my other MSI's I get the following message :
Failed to extract file "C:\Program Files\Generated by BizTalk\FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200\36FAA7B1-99DE-4AF6-A910-ED56D02D84EF\WebDirectory\-FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200.WES\App_Data\FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200.Schemas.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200.xsd".
    (Length=306)
The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters., (NULL), (NULL), (NULL).
If i could install in C:\Program Files\Generated by BizTalk\FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200 but the extraction would take place in d:\temp or whatever, I would not have a problem. But unfortunately it extracts in a subdir of an already
    very long path......
Is there anybody who knows how to solve this... (can I tell the MSI to use D:\TEMP\ as an extract folder).
And using shorter names is not an option.

You can control the destination path of resources in your MSI by modifying them in the Resources folder of a BizTalk application.
%BTAD_InstallDir% defaults to C:\Program Files\Generated by BizTalk\... etc etc.  You can put in whatever you like here.
You can get more granular control over the resources by using the
    BTSTask.exe tool.
If you can tell me how to make the extract process of he cabs point to c:\temp i will be happy to use BTSTASK (wich i am already doing). But the problem is with the extraction oft he web service. It will extract to :
    C:\Program Files\Generated by BizTalk\FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200\36FAA7B1-99DE-4AF6-A910-ED56D02D84EF\WebDirectory\-FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200.WES\App_Data\FH.CCE.CDM.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200.Schemas.FinancieleOpdrachtLogistiekMiddel_v0200.xsd
Wich is just to long. I want the cabs to extract to c:\temp or something like that.....

  • AnyConnect 3.1.01065 error - Failed to install AnyConnect VPN Profile because of file move error. A VPN connection cannot be established.

    I've got a user running:
    AnyConnect 3.1.01065
    on
    Windows 7 64bit.
Several weeks ago she started encountering the following error:
-after logging into Windows and launching the AnyConnect client, she enters her username and password and successfully authenticates.
-the connection is not established and she's presented with the following message: "Failed to install AnyConnect VPN Profile because of file move error. A VPN connection cannot be established."
After doing some troubleshooting, inlcuding uninstalling/reinstalling the anyconnect client, it seems the culprit is the following file:
C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client\Profile\<filename>.xml. When the problem occurs (which is not regularly, sometimes it occurs daily, sometimes just once a week) examining that file indicates it has no security or permissions set. Quitting the AnyConnect software, modifying the file so that the user has full control of it, then relaunching AnyConnect fixes the problem (until it happens again). Uninstalling, and making sure to move C:\ProgramData\Cisco to the trash, then reinstalling did not seem to help.
The closest match in these forums is the following thread, https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3760446 - though no clear resolution was given.
Has anyone else encountered this, and been able to fix it?
    Thanks much.

Just FYI, it seems at least in this case, purging all the previous system restore points seems to have resolved this issue...

  • GRUB unable to find file, fails to install

(FTP install via floppies, GRUB 0.96-1, installation via arch/setup utility)
GRUB fails to install, giving the error message "Error: unable to find file" after checking for a file in /boot/grub (grub.menu IIRC), and quitting without further action. Menu.1st is there, but GRUB seems to want something else.

There might be an issue relative to the used fs. I allways had problems if I tried to install grub into xfs or jfs partitions, and had to install lilo first during installation procedure. After first boot, I usually removed lilo and installed grub without any problems.

  • Batch file application fails to install

We have an SCCM application which fails to install.
It is packaged as a batch file which tuns an installshield exe install then a VBS script to remove unwanted shortcuts. The SCCM application fails with error code 1628 but running the batch file from the ccmcache as administrator it works as intended.
I think the Exe installs InstallShield first and then the application. It looks as though the application install doesn't run with sufficient privileges.
    "%~dp0Salud_1.20.0.15.exe" /z"/q /TSQL /SSALUDTESTDBITS /DSALUD_TEST"
    "%~dp0deletedesktopshortcut.vbs"
    Any clues appreciated.

Also, if you want to do this with a script, why don't you wrap the "Salud_1.20.0.15.exe" /z"/q /TSQL /SSALUDTESTDBITS /DSALUD_TEST" command to a single .vbs script that also includes the "deletedesktopshortcut.vbs" ? Doing stuff
in .bat and calling stuff is just bad... Way more cleaner to handle it all in a single script.
    Sample for the first part:
    strCommand = "Salud_1.20.0.15.exe /z/q /TSQL /SSALUDTESTDBITS /DSALUD_TEST"
    set WshShell = CreateObject ("Wscript.Shell")
    set objExec = WshShell.Exec(strCommand)
    Do While objExec.Status = 0
    Wscript.Sleep 100
    Loop
    Set WshShell = Nothing
Also note that the above handles only the running of your salud... -file, some additional debugging/logging would be good to add.
For the application just configure the install command: "cscript.exe yourcustomname.vbs" and the detection method you have to figure out by yourself.

    TIA, Pete

I work for Troygroup. Pete's question has a very simple answer. If this is Windows 7, disable UAC. You can re-enable UAC once the PCM files are installed.
If this is Windows 8, it is a bit trickier. In addition to UAC you must also click on an administration button (with the shield icon) from within the driver. I usually click the one under the sharing tab in the driver, however this requires printer sharing to be turned off in order to see this button.
If you run into this problem on Windows 8 and have trouble send me an email: [email protected]
The best way to install Troys fonts as of 2014 is to use the MICR Printer Installer that we put together. It disables UAC, installs a printer and the PCM files. You can get this from the Troygroup website.
