Failed to open CoreMidi message

hi
out of the blue, when i launch any of my music applications, i get this error message.
all my equipment is connected properly.
when i go in Audio-Midi Set Up (Applications/Utilities), and i click on the MIDI tab, the application suddenly quits.
This happens everytime i try to access the midi control panel.
Needless to say, none of my midi devices are not recognized by any of the programs.
i've restarted my computer many times, i also ran CockTail and restarted, but nothing seems to sove the issue
can someone tell me what's happening?
thanks

You're Welcome milly!
Unfortunately, I don't use Audio MIDI Setup, so I really can't help much, but are all of your devices drivers updated?
Have you tried accessing the MIDI tab, with all of the devices disconnected?
In Get Info (Command + I keys) on Audio MIDI Setup, what is displayed for Ownership & Permissions?
I don't know if it will help, but have you run Repair Disk & Repair Permissions? It can't hurt!
Here are links to KB Articles that might give you some hints.

My audio device doesn't work or doesn't appear in Audio MIDI Setup
Hopefully, someone who knows more about the utility, will pop in here!

  • "Failed to open page" keeps happening and happening!

[ Edited by Apple Discussions Moderator; Please start a new topic about your technical issue. ]
I updated to Safari 2.0.3 with OS 10.4.5
Now, repeatedly, when I go to all sorts of web pages, I get the dreaded "fail to open page" message.
Almost universally, if I then hit the refresh button, the page appears instantly!
Don't know if this is the general pattern or not, but it seems particularly to occur with the first visit to an old site, meaning a bookmarked page that I hadn't yet visited with 2.0.3. Subsequent visits seem to then load quickly.
Any ideas what's gone wrong here or how to fix it?
I updated Safari Enhancer to the latest 3.3, tried the sequence of unplugging cable modem and Airport Express and restarting Airport and Safari, and just now emptied the cache.

I appreciate the suggestions here, but I'm leery of doing them!
I'd have to dig up my old install disks... (where did I put them? and they are an earlier version of Tiger and then my Safari version would be out of date... and then I'd have the interesting dilemma of trying to update just Safari--and the concern, however unfounded, of things being out of whack.
I've had also hassles in the past of doing a complete reinstall, too. Where certain settings seem to be lost in the ether and then the replacements are hard to track down! I'd anticipate losing a day to trying to fix that! And I'd have to follow that up with re-installing all the recent updates (OS and security ones)-- and that's a labyrinth I'd just as soon avoid!
I'm hoping that the latest security update will have included some tweaks to Safari that will fix this (wishful thinking on my part no doubt)...
in the meantime, until it starts bugging me even more, I'd rather live with the occasional page not loading (and having to refresh) than embark on the piecemeal update of Safari or the complete re-install and then having to update that.
But if some other intrepid soul would like to try it--and report back here--and if it works--then maybe I'll be adventurous--but only on my day off--and with lots of snacks to gnosh on and podcasts to play in the background on my Palm while my Mac is out of commission!

  • For 'Reason' if you get the message "Failed to Open MIDI Support Library"

I tried to open Reason 3.0.5 with an MBox 2 on my new MacBook Pro (Leopard) and I got this message: 'Failed to Open MIDI Support Library.' When I went to my 'Audio-MIDI' setup on my Mac, nothing loaded properly...
I found the solution to this problem after looking around online, and figured other people might be having the same problem, so here it is...
First, create a new folder on your computer desktop and call it "Old MIDI Drivers" (or something similar), then go to Macintosh HD>library>audio>midi drivers, and move all the drivers (that you don't plan on using) from that folder into your "Old MIDI Driver" folder on your desktop. For example, I moved all the drivers out except for my MBox 2 driver.
After you do this, you may have to restart your comp. (I didn't) and Reason should run.
    Hope this helps...

  • "Extraction Failed: Cannot Open Output File" error message when installing new drivers

Hello, I'm trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 Printer.  I downloaded the full feature drivers for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:
    Extraction Failed
    Cannot Open Output File
And the process closes.  It happens at about 85% extraction every time.
Any idea why?  I called HP but since it is out of warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - won't even give me basic support??  Poor, poor customer service.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
If you haven't still got the  Full Feature software installer, download it from the link below and save it to your Desktop.  If you already have it, place it on your Desktop.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL20274/mp-53147-4/100_228_PS_AIO_02_Full_USW_enu_NB.exe
Make sure the Printer is disconnected from your PC.
Download and install 7-ZIP.  Once installed, right click on the software installer for your printer, select 7-Zip and choose extract files, then click Ok.
Open the newly extracted folder and double click the setup application to start the installation ( the setup application will probably have the same icon as the original software installer you downloaded ).  Connect the printer to your PC when the software asks.
    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes,
    DP-K

  • Failed to open rowset error message

    Post Author: eneace13
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Hi All,
I have a report that currently uses only views: V1, V2 and V2_1 (an alias view for V2). If I try to add a fourth table V4 so I can pull just one additional field into the report, I get the following message when I try to run it:
    Failed to open rowset
Details:42000[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Could not allocate ancillary table for view or function resolution. Maximum number of tables in a query (260) was exceeded.
I get the same error message if I try to create a SQL Expression to pull in the same field from view V4.
How can I get this error mesage if I'm only using 3 views? I'm on Crystal 9, SQL 2k.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Please provide following information;
1.What is the exact version/patch level of Enterprise and the crystal reports application at the web team's end.
2.What is the database(with version) and the connectivity method (native/odbc/oledb) at your end.
3.The same details as in point 2 above, at web team's end.

Hey, I'm new to Arch and I've been working on setting it up on my Laptop and so far I haven't had very many problems save one.  I can't get any of the available Window Managers.  Whenever I try running them I get a message like:
"wmii: fatal: Can't open display," or "Error: Couldn't connect to XServer" (Fluxbox), or "twm: unable to open display" or "dwm: cannot open display" or "Openbox-Message: Failed to open display from the DISPLAY environment variable,".  What am I supposed to do?  I've checked to see if it was a problem with my installation of Openbox by reinstalling that and installing several other window managers, and I've checked to see if it was a problem with me not having the right kernel modules loaded, but after I ran "hwdetect --load-modules," which is supposed to load all detectable modules, but even after that I still get the same messages.  Any ideas, I've tried just about everything that I know\have thought about, so yeah... any ideas?

You need to read a bit more about how X works - you can't run any window manager unless there's a X session for it to run on. That's why xinit works. Set up your ~/.xinitrc correctly and use startx.
xinit wmii ran a wmii session, but I guess you didn't configure it at all - that's why you couldn't do anything. Again, more reading required.

Oh, I see.  So an X-session is something that's required.  Oh, okay.

  • Flash5.5 "failed to open document" error message

Yesterday I worked on two files both worked fine.  I saved my work and a backup. This morning I got the dreadful message "failed to open document" followed by the path to the file. The output panel gave me this message:
    The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:

The info on the file size shows 0 bites
Both the file and its backup were corrupted.
Are there compatibility issues betweenAdobe CS5.5 Programs and Mac OX Lion?  Lion has crashed my computer several times and other programs like Photoshop and Adobe Bridge have also misbehaved.  Has anybody experienced any issues with Lion and Flash?

    Hi ,
I'm sorry for the inconvience . We are actively working on with customers in resolving this issue .
Please help us answer the following question below so we can reproduce this issue and provide some solution .
About      the location where .fla file is being saved
To a local drive? (eg. hard drive, SSD drive, USB key,       SD card, opened as email attachment, opened from a zip archive, etc)
…or over a network? (eg. shared Windows folder across       Active Directory network, SMB share between OSX machines, symbolic       link/junction points to path) If so, do they have full file permissions       to write to that folder?
    The      .fla file before corruption/crash
    Reproducible from a new document?
File history. eg. originally created in CS4, saved in       CS5 and re-saved in CS5.5
    3. Where was the backup copy saved ?
    4. Did flash crash y'day while you were saving your Fla file ?
Can you please  email me your corrupt fla as well as any previous version of a working  backup copy if any to [email protected] .
    Thanks

how do I fix an error message of "failed to open a session on this devices" for my HP photosmart 6510 scanner?

    Hello Kwastfamily,
It sounds like you are unable to print from your computer to your printer. I would run through the troubleshooting steps in this article:
Troubleshooting printer issues in OS X
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3147
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel. Note: If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
Use Software Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Delete the affected printer, then add the printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Reset the printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, reset the printing system again.  Download and install your printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

What should I do or what should I look for? Are there settings that need to be changed?

Try to disable your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes it work.
You may need to delete the temp folder (%TEMP%) to remove the old files.
