Failed to read parameter object - error in BO XI server

Hi all,
We have the enterprise edition of Business Objects server XI, which is available in the Solaris 10 machine. We try to upload the rpt file using the Central  Management Console Log in, at the time we got the following error.
There was an error while retrieving data from the server: Failed to read data from report file /var/tmp/data_gen_letter.rpt63065d888163420.  Reason: Failed to read parameter object.
Can anybodies help me on this, why this error has came.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Vel.

I am facing the same issue. I am using BO XI 3.1 (12.1.0) and CR 2008 (12.2.3.467)
Initially I was getting "Failed to read parameter object"
I found this resolution posted
1. Log on to Business View Manager as administrator.
2. Click View > Repository Explorer.
3. Right-click Dynamic Cascading Prompts. Click Edit Rights.
4. Click the appropriate user or group receiving the error. If the group is not present add them.
5. Click the Granted option for the right to View, Edit & Set Security rights.
6. Click OK. Close Business View Manager.
I did the above steps. When I try to save the CR report the first time, the dynamic prompts get added to the Dynamic cascading prompt list in Buss View Mgr, but the report does not get save to BOE. I get an error
Reason: Unable to launch c:\Program File\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\ReportAdd program to add report to the system
If I try to save the same report to BOE again, it gets saved with any error. SO, the first time I try only the dynamic prompts get saved, the next time the report.
Any help on this please?

    Hi,
the problem has to do with the permissions on dynamic prompts. Eventually you can solve this by setting the permissions on the prompts using the Business View Manager. (CrystalBVM.exe: to be found in BOBJ client installations on windows)
Do your report fetch data from an SAP R/3 system?

  • Crystal Report: failed to read parameter object

    Hello -
I have a report that consists of numerous static parms and one dynamic parm. I can save the report to my desktop but cannot save it to BO 3.1 CMC Personal Folder (or any folder for that matter).
The dynamic parm does not use a LOV based on Business Views. A table associated with the same data source as the stored proc on which the Report itself is based provides two fields - a code field that is used in the Value and a name field which is used in the Description.
    The specific error is:
"Failed to read data from report file <file name> Reason: failed to read parameter object".
All the normal things have been checked -
    - VERIFied the database
    - Ensured 'No Printer' is checked
    - Ran the report (successfully) on the desktop (locally)
The data source is Oracle. The report can be saved to the CMC and run without problem if the dynamic parameter is deleted from the report.
The version of Crystal Reports is CR 2008 vers 12.04
I've seen numerous postings regarding LOVs and Business Views, especially surrounding security issues, but I've yet to see a note about a dynamic parameter based on a table....
    Thanks

    Hi!
    Thanks for the response....
Re: check the "Enable Repository Refresh" checkbox
The SAVE failed with the Failed to read data from report file error.
When I went to the Bus View mgr, I found the LOV. It was set as a cascading prompt (not what I wanted when I set the parm) and could not edit it. No permissions.
I went back to the report and tried to edit the parm into which I had stuffed the LOV I can't touch in Bus Views, and found I can't open in the report canvas without logging into the repository.... which I did.... and went to edit the parm...can't open in the report canvas without logging into the repository.... which I did.... and went to edit the parm... You get the idea....
What I had WANTED to do is take a table with 2 fields in it - a NAME and a CODE field, create a dynamic parm, use the CODE field as the Value and the NAME field as a description. When I brought in the LOV, it came in as a cascading LOV... I needed to have the Description as the user fronted piece... but I can't seem to get there from here.....

  • Failed to Read Parameter Object

We are new working with Crystal Server.    I cannot publish any reports that have parameters.   I receive an error message that states "Failed to Read Parameter Object".      I have tried all 3 methods for publishing reports (using CMC, using the wizard, saving directly from crystal design) and receive the same error message.   I have no problems publishing reports that do not have parameters.    Thanks for helping resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Jeff

Few things to clarify and heck:
    - What is the version of CR Reports Server?
    - Are your parameters List of Values or just regular text, date parameters?
    - Verify that ListofValuesJobServer is up and running in CCM (Central Configuration Manager)
    - The best practice for List of Values Paramters is to use Business View Manager.

  • Failed to read parameter object using Dynamic Parameter

    Hi All
In one of my report I am using dynamic parameter, I tried to publish the report in BOXI and got the following error:
"Failed to read data from report file C:DOCUME1...LOCALS1Temp~crw{u2026u2026..-u2026.-u2026.-u2026.-u2026u2026u2026u2026}.rpt. Reason: Failed to read parameter object"
but if I change that to static parameter I am able to publish it.
I am using Crystal Report 2008 Version: 12.1.0.892
                                              Product Type: Full
BO Version: Product: 12.1.0 © 2008 Business Objects
I went thru many forums and came up with some settings while publishing but nothing worked out. And some mentioned about the service packs and fix pack issues. But I am not sure which should be installed in order to make this work for my versions.
Can anyone please suggest, what can be done to publlish a report with dynamic parameter?

  • Error deploying Crystal Report XI R2 to Enterprise - Failed to read paramet

Error deploying Crystal Report XI R2 to Enterprise - Failed to read parameter object.
I know this issue has been addressed several times and the solution recommended was to install Service Pack 2. I have done that. It started working for me too; however recently I got some error saying some UDF***.DLL is missing. I re-installed Crystal Reports XI R2 and Service Pack 2. Unfortunately though, this error is back. I have restarted the machine n number of times but keep on getting this error.
My report file has dynamic parameters defined through command object (SQL Query). My understanding is that once I publish the report to BoE Enterprise, BO will create LOVs and BV's in the repository. Now that is not happening.
has any one else had this issue before and resolved it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
do you export your CR report in your BOBJ repository using an account with administrator rights?

  • Failed to read PREINST6.swm error code 020150-20-00000000

I have made three attempts to create the recovery disks from an out-of-the box Satellite E205-S1904. Each time, the Recover Media Center gets about 80% complete on the first DVD burn, judging from the status bar, and then crashes with the message: Failed to read the following file: D:\ZZImages\ZZImages\PREINST6.SUM Error code: 020150-20-00000000 How can I recover/work around so that I can burn the recovery disks? Thanks. --Steve

More digging on the Internet indicated this error might be due to bad media. Tried a new batch and different brand of DVDs and the Recovery disks burned as advertised.

  • Remote Management: "Failed to read remoting state" error

    Hello,
I am facing the following error on my Windows Server 2012 Datacenter installation:
If I try to enable the Remote (Server) Management from the Server Manager UI I get the following error: "Internal Error: Failed to read remoting state. The system cannot find the file specified."
Has anyone else faced the same error? What could be the cause of this error?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
The issue which you are facing can be the result of security or authentication problems (such as attempting to manage a remote server in an untrusted domain, for example; or attempting to manage a server by using credentials that are not recognized as those
of an administrator on the remote server), or configuration problems (missing Windows PowerShell, remote management not enabled on the target server, etc.). For more information you can refer below article.
Windows Server 2012 - Server Manager
Troubleshooting Guide, Part II: Troubleshoot Manageability Status Errors in Server Manager
In addition if you want to enable Remote Management you can try to enable using command line or Windows Power Shell. Go through
    this article for additional details.
To Enable through Command line & Windows Power-Shell (Run as Administrator):
    Configure-SMRemoting.exe –enable
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Failed to load following objects error

    --Thread moved from Forms
    Hi all,
I am working on Form builder 10g and our Applications version is 12.1.3.I happen to develop a form by taking template.fmb from AU_TOP and worked on my requirement, everything works fine.Only thing missing is,when i open the form which i developed in applications i don't see Oracle logo, instead i get some other logo and some other functionalities are missing.
    My observation:
when i open the .err file while compiling with frcmp_batch command i see the below errors.
FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects.
    Source Module:APPSTAND
      Source Object: STANDARD_PC_AND_VA
    Source Module:APPSTAND
      Source Object: STANDARD_TOOLBAR
    Source Module:APPSTAND
      Source Object: STANDARD_CALENDAR
    Compiling package specification APP_CUSTOM...
No compilation errors. For the above things,i added Template.fmb & APPSTAND.fmb to the forms_path but still i am getting the same errors and i won't see my form with oracle logo.
So,somehow i did a hunch and find the solution myself..
instead of using Template.fmb i used APPSTAND.fmb which is working fine for me.However,my doubt is in every single tutorial i saw they mentioned to use Template.fmb while developing the form from scratch.
Can anyone explain me why APPSTAND.fmb is working for me instead of Template.fmb
    Any help is appreciated,
    Thanks in advance!!

Thanks all for your replies..I followed your suggestions,i saw the forms_path under registry editor. The path which is over there points to all the required pll's and .fmb files. There are like 1000 objects. So,now coming back to developing the form
    1.Using TEMPLATE.fmb(err file)
FRM-18108: Failed to load the following objects.
    Source Module:APPSTAND
      Source Object: STANDARD_PC_AND_VA
    Source Module:APPSTAND

    Source Module:APPSTAND
      Source Object: STANDARD_CALENDAR
    Compiling package specification APP_CUSTOM...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling package specification APP_CUSTOM...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling package body APP_CUSTOM...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling WHEN-WINDOW-RESIZED trigger on form...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling FOLDER_ACTION trigger on form...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling FOLDER_RETURN_ACTION trigger on form...
       No compilation errors.
Created form file RHCCUSTALLOWANCEDET.fmxWhat's missing here when i open the form in applications is Oracle Logo and some standard functionalities.
    2.Using APPSTAND.fmb (err file)
    Compiling package specification APP_CUSTOM...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling package specification APP_CUSTOM...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling package body APP_CUSTOM...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling EXPORT trigger on form...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling CLOSE_THIS_WINDOW trigger on form...
       No compilation errors.
    Compiling WHEN-FORM-NAVIGATE trigger on form...
       No compilation errors.
Created form file RHCCUSTALLOWANCEDET.fmxIn this case, everything works normal.
As per your suggestions,TEMPLATE.fmb should work for me not APPSTAND.So,where am i doing wrong?
@Srini:Yes,everything is as per the doc which you suggested
    @Hussein:Pls see the above explanation
Kindly note that the above error report is while compilation using frmcmp_batch command and not in the Form Builder.
    My Observation:
In the Object groups section, when using TEMPLATE.fmb STANDARD_PC_AND_VA,STANDARD_TOOLBAR,STANDARD_CALENDAR are missing. But when i use APPSTAND.fmb these object groups are present.
Can i copy paste these object groups or doing like that damages my Applications?

  • WebService for  HR failing; the obligatory parameter EMPLOYEENUMBER error

    Hello Gurus ,
im trying to create a webservice for BAPI_BASICPAY_CREATE function module, which should read some of parameters and create and entry in (ECC 6) HR module.
This FM basicaly gets data such as Personnel no, valid from, valid to, wage type, amount.
Ive created the WS throught SE37> More utilities > more utilities > create web service > from function module
after that, going into SOAMANAGER ive created BINDING.
Before going into WSNAVIGATOR, ive tested the BAPI inside ECC, it works fine.
Now WSNAVIGATOR: the genereted binding WSDL URL is working just fine, it gets all the methods of BAPI.
I can input everything into the fileds. the read parameters seem to be ok:
    Best regards
    Laurynas Prikockis

Create your own FM, transfer parameters, everything should work fine.

  • The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008

I am trying to run a SSIS Package from SQL Server BI Studio. I receive the error "The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008".  SQL Server 2008 R2 installed (32bit Win 7), along with Integration Services.  The Package connects
    to a SQL Server DB.
Here is the full error taken from consol in BI Studio:
    SSIS package "CreateDynSSIS_DB_RunDynSSiSDB.dtsx" starting.

    SSIS package "CreateDynSSIS_DB_RunDynSSiSDB.dtsx" finished: Failure.
The error is thrown at this line:
    DynamicPackage = app.LoadPackage(DynamicPackagePath, null);
Any help would be great! I've done a bit of Googling on the topic already.. and nothing has worked so far.

    Hi,
    Reason for the error: Old
version of the DTEXEC is picked up by SQL Server instead of the new one.
Refer this link for more info
