Failed to repair Microsoft Visual C   2012 Redistributable Package (x64) when trying to download Photoshop CC, InDesign CC and Illustrator CC.

So I'm running Windows 8.1 on a laptop and I was installing updates to CS6 modules. It was successful in updating other apps but when I tried to update desktop apps Photoshop CC 2014, Illustrator CC 2014, and InDesign CC 2014 it stopped short saying it had failed to repair Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64). What do I need to do?

The Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64) component of your operating system is damaged.  You will need to reinstall it.   You can find more information at Latest Supported Visual C++ Downloads.

    Navigate to Control Panel>Programs>Program and Features.
    under Program and Features , locate the option " Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64)"  and right click on it and uninstall .
    If prompted , restart and then uninstall .
    Once you had uninstalled Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64) .
    Click on on the below link and download new Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package (x64) ( vcredist (x64).exe file and install the same :

    I'm trying to install Maya and there is always an error on installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2012, so I figured I could install this and skip that part in the Maya installation process. When I try to install it, it won't install and gets stuck on "initializing."
    Then, a while later, it jumps to the end and says "0x80070643 - Fatal error during installation."
    Could somebody help please?

    Some person came across the problem, and I recommend you can try the method in the above link:
    I ran into the same error numerous times installing Office 2010 on Vista where machine.config was not found.  Specifically:
    Error 25541. Failed to open XML file
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config, system error: -2147024786
    Setup failed. Rolling back
    I tried both approaches above and neither worked.
    My final solution was simple: there was a file in the directory called machine.config.default.  In a DOS box I copied that file to create machine.config.
    The office 2010 install worked fine after that "fix".

    Initial install.  Logged into Cloud then initiated download.  Programs appear to be installed but received those errors.  Is this solely affiliated with third party licensing?  Is this something that I need to be concerned about?
