Failed to restore ipod with itune 7.6

I found the following post for iTunes 7.4.3, but the same case for my iTunes 7.6 + firmware 1.1.4. Tried the suggested solution but no luck.

Problem solved, I've brought my iPod back to life =D
Let me have a re-cap of what had happened on my ipod
[ Cause ]
iPod running out of power, and shut down itself. I didn't realize this and tried to turn on it again, and problem started ... (i lately found that it fell into recovery mode)
[ Symptom ] (I've experienced many errors, all shown below)
1. blank black screen (expected), the screen showed nothing even in progress of recharge, reset or restore. and ipod fell into recovery mode.
2. blank white screen and yellow screen during restore
3. iTunes give unkonwn error 1, 1601, 1604, 6 and -6
4. computer cannot detect iPod suddenely
5. restore process looked good, but failed at the stage "verifying iPod firmware"
6. iPod ran into DFU and iBoot recovery mode when connecting to PC.
[ What I have done ] (i dare not call it solution, as i have tried so much reset-restor-reset-restore ... on it)
# when problem (4) occurred, I reset iPod and put it in recovery mode (by pressing Power + Home button for 10 sec with USB cable plugged to PC, and "Apple Recovery (DFU) USB Driver" would show in PC Device Manager. Run iTune and would force you to restore.
# when updating firmware, it was detected as "Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Driver". Then changed to DFU and forced you to run iTunes again to restore.
# when problem (3) occurred, I repeatedly tried restore-restore-restore... until it gave the same error (and my last error is unknown error 1601)
# I did un-install and re-install iTunes
BUT, regardless so much i've worked on it, i strongly believe the ONLY THING i'll try next time if problem occur again:
No matter what you see on the screen, even nothing, and whatever it is detected in PC, FULLY RECHARGE IT first before you do anything. It'd likely come back to life AUTOMATICALLY. If it doesn't work, put it aside for some days, come back and try again.
my last comment: iPod is great, but iTune itself is stupid. It's interesting to find many ipod fans world trying their very best to help iTunes to explain what does 1601,1604,-6 actually means, and to give known solutions for unknown errors.

I have the newest gen 160gb ipod and "sometimes" when I plug the cable the ipod reset itself, like there is no longer mp3. After a blank screen, I restart the ipod and I have to restore with itunes...I've changed the pc, cable...Still the same situation...
I send the ipod to local assistence and they say that it's all ok.

So, are you repeatedly being asked to restore your iPod by iTunes similar to that described in this Apple support document?
[iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1456?viewlocale=en_US]
If the same message keeps appearing, you may have to reassign your iPod's drive letter. You can find instructions on how to do this in this Apple support document.

Syncing iPod with iTunes fails with error (-69) appears

When syncing my iPod with iTunes an error appears saying syn has failed to "my" iPod due to unknown error (-69). Is there a solution for this problem?

Perhaps a corrupted iPod? Why not try a restore (warning: will erase and then resync everything) and see if that clears it up?

Ipod stuck on black screen(soft dtf) and my home button is broken. i also cant restore it with itunes as it shows error 6. any help?

So. my home button was broken and i wanted (stupid idea) to jailbreak my ipod, i used the new redsn0w Dfu ipsw, then tried to put it in dtf mode via itunes. how ever now its just stuck on a black screen, i tried t restor it with itunes but that just comes up with an error. help?

Thanks for a reply. iPod does not support ntfs - you're right. that means it will never work on that. While restoring ipod using iTunes, itunes reformats it no matter what filesystem is there. So the issue is not that. ipod is now on fat32 and it works for a certain period of time, but then crashes and asks to restore through itunes. Resetting/restarting does not help.

I have found a fix after doing additional research through this forum. Tech Note #328730 addresses this problem and it works for Photoshop Album 3.2 even though it was written for release 1.0.

When using this fix the Tech Note indicates:
"Imported image data and tags are lost when you re-create the My Catalog.psa file, so you need to reimport images and reapply any tags"
however it did retain the captions (at least it did for me).

Sounds like a hardware issue. Have it serviced if it's in warranty.

You should Reset your iPod, by
1. Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 Secs till the Apple Logo comes ON.
2. Disconnect the sync cable.
3. Check the iPod Welcome screen, select language, go to menu (if you are lucky, your music are still on the iPod.)
if your iPod doesn't show the Welcome screen, bring it to Apple Store.
If the above is okay, (can see Menu but no Music)
4. Close iTunes and Reboot your PC.
5. Start iTunes
6. Connect the iPod to the Sync cable.
7. if iTunes ask to Restore, please do so.
8. Sync your iPod. ( I would advise you to disconnect from Internet and stop the Antivirus program when doing this.)

Cannot sync ipod with itunes after setting up on new computer, only songs which tansferred were songs bought on new computer after set up, tried to sync songs and it deleted old songs from ipod. How can I get them back on ipod?? They are showing in music library on itunes still.

If the iPod database gets corrupted, it will add files to "Other" instead of where they really belong.
Restoring the iPod will erase this database and recreate it.
And if I do this, won't I just have the same issue when my iPod is re-updated to the most recent version again?
No, it shouldn't. This is why you Restore the iPod. It erases the corrupt database.

Go to Settings > General > Usage and see how much is shown available and how much is in "Other".
