  • Itunes fails to sync app updates with iphone

Having moved my iphone to a new computer, app updates now fail to automatically transfer to iphone - any ideas?

I am having the same problem.
I don't use too many apps or connect to my PC too often so this is strange.

  • Failing to Sync Apps

    Hi
I have an iPhone3 running iOS 4.2.1.   It's been working fine, but I recently downloaded some new apps to my pc.   This worked fine.   However, when I connect my phone, it goes through the entire sync process, but does not download the new apps, nor update existing ones.   I've tried
    Switching the phone off/on
    Restarting iTunes
    Restarting the pc
    Tried a different USB cable
    Tried a different USB port.
Checked free space on the iPhone.
Comms with the iTunes store appears to be fine.  Using iTunes, I can drag the an app onto a phone screen, so that the status changes to "Will Install".  The new icon stays there until I do an 'Apply', at which point the Sync just appears to ignore it ...  The icon then reverts back to the doanloaded apps list on the left hand pane, and the status of the app changes back to "Install".   This happens with any new app, and also with any I try to Update.
Not sure what to try next.  Would be grateful for any advice.  It has been a while since I last downloaded an app ...
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi
I've since found that one of the apps requires iOS 4.3, which is higher than the current version for my phone.  I downloaded another app direct to the phone that was fully compliant, and that sync'd back to iTunes okay.

  • Why do my apps & music keep failing to sync from my computer to my phone?

I have recebtly updated my iTunes and iOS to 5.1.  It failed to restore my phone (iphone 4) the first couple of times but now that my phone is up and running the apps have failoed to sync from my PC to my phone.  Everytime I select the apps I want and sync They one by one fail to sync with the message "iTunes Sync : 'BBC News failed to install" for example.  I have also had issues syncing my music.  Everytime I update the software on my phone it wipes the music off and then despite me clicking the selections of songs/albums to sync it NEVER syncs them.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • TS1702 Apps fail to sync

Almost every time I download a new app update, it fails to sync. The only work around is to quit iTunes and restart. Everything works then. Any ideas?

The only solution  was upgrading my iphone to the latest version. A clean upgradation by connecting iphone to computer by iTunes.

  • Failed to Install - when syncing app to ipad

Newly created app, after bringing it into itunes and syncing I can see it start to load on the ipad (icon appears with a loading bar) but then I get an error message "Itunes Sync "app name" failed to load". Tried re-compiling, removed icon, restarted ipad, no joy. No errors when compiling in Flash.
Other apps I've made will install, so I don't think it's the provisioning or certificate. Using "Quick publishing for device testing"
Any ideas of where I should look for problems? I'm new to ios development.
    TIA

Solved: The App ID in the provisioning profile was off - it just had the name of the app not the "com.name.app", reapplying the profile fixed it.

  • ITunes Sync app name here failed to install

Hi! I've recently updated to iOS 5 (well, by recently I mean 5 hours ago) and I've encountered issues not fatal but has a big impact on my part.
I encountered this error message when my iPod's restoring:
iTunes Sync <app name here> failed to install
A number of apps weren't successfully installed. I tried restoring for a number of times but the results were the same.
Though, I tried downloading the app via the Appstore on my iPod and it worked. The app was successfully installed and can be ran again.
So then, I tried transferring the purchase to my library to copy the IPA to my PC. Then removed the app from my iPod. Then tried to install again the app from iTunes (this time, I'm trying to use the IPA I downloaded via my iPod; the one that finally worked). But to no avail. The IPA that's working on my iPod didn't install successfully from iTunes.
Can you advise on how to fix this. As much as possible, I'm trying to keep all my downloads via iTunes but this incident is not allowing me to.
If you need more details, below is the list of the apps that aren't being successfully installed via iTunes: (all IPA's are up to date as of Oct. 14, 2011)
    - Battleheart
    - Castle Empire
    - Death Rally
    - Infinity Blade
    - Chaos Rings
    - Dead Space
    - Dungeon Hunter 2
    - Merriam-Webster Dictionary
    - Words With Friends
    - N.O.V.A. 2
I'm using iTunes 10.5 / iOS 5. My device is an iPod touch 4th gen black 32 GB

I am having the same or similar problem, wrote a simple program with xcode and it runs and loads to the iPad but when I creat the .ipa and pass it to iTunes it transfer to iPad. When transferring to iPad I get "iTunes Sync 'app name here' Failed to install. Sent to Apple as Bug # 11060939. Apple has had me update all, which I did and run thru it again and have the same results.
At this point I am wondering if it could be a setting in xcode which is also at the current level.

  • "(apps)" failed to sync

I recently updated my itunes and my ipod software to 5.0.1 yesterday. everytime I sync my apps, it will have a message "(apps)" failed to sync.
i was able to resolve the issue before by deleting a particular file/extension in itunes folder in windows. i just couldnt recall it.
i already tried almost everything. im sure deleting that file will fix the problem.
    hoping someone can help me.

  • All of my apps are in iTunes AND on my iPod Touch. in iTunes it the checkbox next to sync apps is UNchecked. should i check the box and have to reorganize all my apps or leave it "un-synced"?

all of my apps are in iTunes AND on my iPod Touch. in iTunes, under my iPod, the checkbox next to 'sync apps' (in the Apps page under my iPod) is Unchecked. if I check it, all my apps will be all over the place and I will waste hours trying to get it back to the way it was. I don't really have a reason to check the box but I don't know. should I check the box and have to reorganize all my apps or leave it "un-synced"?
by "un-synced" I mean how it is on my iPod and iTunes at the same time but its not synced
this happened b/c I had to make a new user acct on my only [Windows 7] computer and when i clicked transfer purchases, this happened.
any help would be greatly appreciated
And as you can see ( besides my problem here) i am out of dropbox space. it would be nice if you can click http://db.tt/TQiPs59V to make an acct to give me and you more space

You should ALWAYS make sure that everything is on your computer and backed up, most especially before any update. The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly.
If you have failed to do this, then you need to redownload:

  • My device is recognized by itunes but won't sync and failed the sync diagnostic test.  I've restarted the computer, reset the ipod . . . nothing works.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

iTunes shows the iPod is connected but doesn't show it in the drop down menu under Devices, and the "sync" option is grayed out, so I can't sync the nano with iTunes.  I ran the diagnostic tests and it shows the device is connected, but it failed the sync test - it said nothing was connected, even though it passed the connectivity test.  We've had the iPod for a few months but this is the first time we've tried to do anything with it.  It's fully charged but just won't sync.  I turned it off, turned it on.  I reset it.  I restarted the computer.  I'm not sure where to go from here.

A couple of things to check:
Are there any backups listed in iTunes/settings/devices? Since backing up is the first step of the sync process, iTunes might be stuck trying to read the content of the last backup in order to replace it with the new one.
Copy the whole backup folder to a safe place, delete the backup from the list afterwards and make sure that the folder has no content after that. The folder is located here:
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files
After that, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose "backup". If you can backup manually, transfer your purchases the same way, to copy apps and purchased media to your iTunes. If this worked, you should be able to sync again.
To speed up the sync process, copy your photos to your computer prior to the sync and delete them on your ipod before you start.

  • IPod Touch (2nd generation) fails to sync correctly under Windows 7 SP1.

My 2nd generation iPod touch has started acting strange since I installed the latest service pack to Windows 7. It worked fine prior to this, but since I've updated to service pack 1, I've been unable to sync my applications properly and when I attempt to restore the iPod to the original factory settings I get the following message: "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)". I've attempted both an update on an existing Windows 7 installation and on a "clean" installation where I install the OS, then the service pack and then the iTunes software (latest version 10.2.0.34). The second method worked to sync my iPod touch intially, but a day later after I downloaded updates to some of my purchased apps, these programs failed to sync to the iPod as they were not "signed". I've authorized and deauthorized my computer as suggested, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and backed up my iTunes library as suggested. The problem continues and I'm more than a little frustrated by this. The sync fails and I end up with a iPod with NO content on it. Or, when the restore fails I have an iPod that's looking for a connection to iTunes. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • HT1386 I am getting a message that says, "Failed to sync because the sync session failed to start?"  Any solutions?

My wife dropped her iPad2 last week.  Since then one of her apps is not working correctly so I thought that I would sync the iPad because it has been a while.  When I plugged it in to my desktop computer through USB, I got the message "Failed to sync because the sync session failed to start."  I have never seen that message before and I am not sure what I can do now to sync my wife's iPad.  Any suggestions and/or help would be appreciated.

I realize your device is different, but the solution will probably be identical. Read this thread:
