Failed to update cache for execution. Program will exit

I'm trying to install cr2011 on windows vista and getting "Failed to update cache for execution. Program will exit".
It occurs at Caching Deployment Units
crystalreports.cpp.printcontrol-4.0-en-32,14.0.0.760
I have CR10 & 11r2 and VS2005 & 2008 on this machine.
Any ideas?

It's installed ok on my laptop this has VS2005 & 2008 and Crystal 11.5r2.
Do SAP suggest you can't install it on machines with previous versions on?

    We just purchased an upgrade to Crystal Reports 2011. Whenh I try to install, I get through all of the setup prep steps, etc...but close to the end the install freezes and then pops this error message: "Failed to update cache for execution. Program will exit." And then it does just like it says...it exits. I have uninstalled my old XI version but still it fails to install.
    I am running this on an HP laptop running Win 7 64-bit. This machine has run XI just fine for some time.

  • Error msg Could not find the main class.Program will exit. in jar execution

    Hello,
    I have created a jar so that I can used it in the webapp.
    but when I click on it it says "Could not find the main class.Program will exit."
    I searched a lot in the net and found that it has to do with the manifest file.
    I even updated the manifest file using the command "jar umf main.txt filefolderupload.jar" with the class name mention along with the package heirarchy.
    (pakage heirarchy in /,\ and .)
    I am using JDK 1.5 . and have Updated JRE 1.6.
    Also tried with extending the class with JApplet, but in vain.
    Kindly help me in the above mention issue.

    This post hints at a number of misunderstandings on your part, and raises a couple of important questions.
    Note that this 'simple question' has a complicated answer. Given the complexity of it, it might pay to add Dukes to it, ..a lot of Dukes.
    The important questions are.
    1) Does this file/directory uploader need to provide the end-user with a file dialog in which they can choose a local directory to upload, or will a multi-file chooser do?
    2) Does this uploader need to upload to foreign sites, or does it upload back to its own server?
    Looking at this table I prepared to describe the [uploader/local file access|http://pscode.org/test/uploader/fileuploader.html] possibilities, if the answers to the questions are 'multi-file chooser will do' and 'home site only', the best option is a sandboxed app. launched using webstart (JNLP) - option 5. If either of those questions go the other way, option 6 (digitally signed with extended permissions) is needed.

    Where is SearchExcel.class?Excellent question, though I think I spotted a problem with the cp supplied.
    Note the documentation for -cp state (in part)
    For example, if directory foo contains a.jar and b.JAR, then the class path element foo/* is expanded to a A.jar:b.JAR, except that the order of jar files is unspecified.So instead of this..
    java -cp /tmp/MyJava/excelapi:/app/jdk/1.6.0_16/jre/lib:/app/jdk/1.6.0_16/lib SearchExcel..try this..
    java -cp /tmp/MyJava/excelapi/*:/app/jdk/1.6.0_16/jre/lib:/app/jdk/1.6.0_16/lib SearchExcelNotes:
    1) Adding the JRE classes to the classpath should not be necessary, but I left the rest of the cp unaltered to highlight the one specific difference I am suggesting.
    2) When posting code, code snippets, HTML/XML or input/output, please use the code tags. The code tags help retain the indentation and formatting of the sample. To use them, select the sample text and click the CODE button.
    If that still fails, tell us more specifically where the SearchExcel class is by copy/pasting the output (within code tags) of the command..
    prompt>jar -tvf mysearchexcel.jarWhere, of course, you replace 'mysearchexcel.jar' with the actual Jar name it is supposed to be located in.

    There could be several reasons for getting this "Could not find main class" error message. From your stack trace it looks like the class javax/media/ControllerListener is not in your class path. Make sure your manifest file has a line like this:
    Class-Path: pathToTheJarFileWithControllerListenerClass.jar otherJars.jar
    This error message is also generated whenever any static initialization errors out giving the misleading error message implying that there is something wrong with the main class. Prior to starting your main class, static initialization of any static variables takes place. In my case, I was initializing a resource bundle, and forgot to include the property file in my building of the jar file. Well this failed of course and the generic error message appeared. It took many long hours to figure out it didn't have anything to do with the manifest file or the main class itself.

  • "Cannot find the main Class. Program will exit."

    Hi, I created a program, and I am trying to distribute it to other people in my office. I tried using both NetBeans 6.8/6.9 and eclipse. I exported to a single jar file. When I run this single .jar file, it runs perfectly. I sent it to one of my coworkers, and the message "Cannot find the main Class. Program will exit." popped up. I then had IT update his Java to 6.20 and it worked. The problem is that this program must be distributed to over 100 people, and I cannot have them each update their Java individually, nor will IT update everyone's on their own. They all have Java 4.XX I believe. Is there any way around this error that only happens on older versions of java? I have checked my manifest file and what not, as I said it runs on computers with Java 6.

    a) Ensure the code does not use functionality introduced in later versions, e.g. assertions, generics, for-each loops.. Using the [cross-compilation options of javac|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/tools/windows/javac.html#crosscomp-options] will warn of those.
    b) Ensure the code does not use any classes, attributes or methods that were not available in the earlier version, then use the cross-compilation options of javac when compiling. Actually the second will alert of the first, so long as the -bootclasspath parameter is used with an appropriate rt.jar.I believe that everything is ok, unless some of the swing functions cannot be used in 1.4. Besides the swing functions (which I am not sure about) everything should be able to be used in 1.4

    I was able to resolve this issue by performing following.
    1. Go to the location where sqldeveloperW.exe is being executed from.
    2. You will find a file sqldeveloper.conf in that location. Edit this file and change the value of IncludeConfFile to point to actual place. For me following were old and new values.
    OLD (Wrong) : IncludeConfFile ../../jdev/bin/ide.conf
    NEW (Correct) : IncludeConfFile ../../ide/bin/ide.conf
    After making above change in the sqldeveloper.conf file. Save and close it. Restart SQLDeveloper. You will not get the error anymore.
    Thanks

    You have to specify the manifest with a special option (I think its was -M)
    Otherwise the jar will create one (even if you provide it)No, the text file passed as a parameter will be incorporated in the manifest file generated by the JAR tool.
    @OP: This will work:
    JarTest.java
    public class JarTest {
      public static void main(String[] args) {
        System.out.println("JarTest works!");
    }manifest.txt
    Main-Class: JarTest+(note there is an extra new line in the manifest.txt!)+
    Now execute these commands:
    javac JarTest.java
    jar cfm MyJar.jar manifest.txt JarTest.class
    java -jar MyJar.jar And on my machine, the string "JarTest works!" is displayed on the screen.
    And if you look in the MANIFEST.MF file inside your jar file (you can use almost any zip-utility for this), you will see the following:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.6.0_0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: JarTestOr something similar.

    And each .class file must be in a directory that reflects its package. So in your example ProjectGUI.class must be in the directory projectRFID/ inside the .jar file.

    I am trying to install jdk-1_5 using jdk-1_5_0_06-windows-i586-p.exe. The entire installation runs fine till the end when we get the following error message.
    *"could not initialize the Java virtual machine. Program will exit"*
    Any idea as to what I may be missing out on.
    Thanks a lot,
    Rohit

    is it creating any log file in the install directory ? do you have admin rights on the PC ? Not sure if it needs admin rights to install 1.5, but just a thought .. have u tried this on any other machine ?

    The structure of my project in Eclipse is src/project/files.java and in jar file is src/files.java bin/class.java Dati/ and META-INF/.That's wrong. You don't need the .java files in the jar (but you can have them, if you want, they are just not used by Java).
    And each .class file must be in a directory that reflects its package. So in your example ProjectGUI.class must be in the directory projectRFID/ inside the .jar file.
