Failed to update ThinkVanta​ge Rescure and Recovery due to a missing file "spmtr.exe​"

Today I tried to update my ThinkVantage System, but the laptop was accidently restarted when ThinkVantage Rescure and Recovery was being updated. After the laptop was restarted, I ran the update program again and the ThinkVantage Rescure and Recovery couldn't be updated when the progress went to 91%. The following error was displayed on the screen:
 "Windows cannot find 'C:\Users\hooklee\AppData\Local\Temp\{7E4C16BB-8F7​6-4940-8505-98E93C00B...\spmtr.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." 
I restarted my laptop and re-executed the update program several times, but the same problem alwasy occured. Probably due to the failure of ThinkVantage Rescure and Recovery, now my ThinkVantage Productivity Center cannot run, either.
I looked into the directory "C:\Users\hooklee\AppData\Local\Temp" and noticed that there was no such a sub-directory at all. I searched the Internet on google with the keyword "spmtr.exe", but only two Chinese pages about the same problem (without solution) were found.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem or provide some clues about a possible solution? Thanks in advance for your help.

    i´ve just installed all actual updates for the n500, including a bios update. since then I cant get into the boot up utilities(I think its called thinkvantage) anymore with the lenovo button when booting up (instead, I get a menu where I can choose where to boot from!!!!)... when pressing f8 on bootup there used to be something like "repair system" in the menu, its gone too... 
    also, rescure and recovery in vista basic does not load anymore, the gui process is running but nothing happens... please help!!!
    what can I do??? I didn't touch any partitions or delete anything... before the updates, it did work. installing the newest bios from the website did not solve the problem too...

    I am beginning to love lenovo. and vista. I´ve used the boot disk found at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen​t.do?lndocid=MIGR-54483
    (vista version), made a disc with it, "fixed" my mbr... and now vista stops booting all together.  something about a missing bootmanager. I love it. really. both. lenovo, and vista.
    edit: lucky me, I had a dart cd to repair the boot manager. so I can at least boot again. but, still no solution to my problem... any ideas?
    edit 2: I tried again. this time, no error. but still, I have the same problem with a not working thinkvantage. any ideas?
    edit 3: seems like the only solution left after reviewing all hints and tips is installing rescue and recovery, but has anyone installed it on a N500 yet? does it work? does it damage the pc? which version should I install, if it works?

  • Archive in Rescure and Recovery 4.3

    My original backup is located in the 2nd HD attached in the ultrabase of X201T. Because it is near full, I want to transfer the backups to NAS (\\N5500\Backup\X201T\TVTRR\). I find a thread (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Rescue-and-recovery-woes/td-p/200531).
    When I try to "rrcmd.exe copy location=N", it returns "There is no backup files to archive".
    When I try to "Copy backup ..." in R&R's GUI, it returns a warning that means backup file must locate in the local HD, and then copy to another place.
    How can I transfer my old backup files to new network place? Thanks!

    Did you unzip the entire contents of the download zip file onto your hard drive before running the installer?  You need to do that.
    I have installed it myself and it went in just fine.

  • Rescue and Recovery Crashes While Deleting Backup Files

    I've seen many threads in regards to Rescue and Recovery crashing while deleting backup files, but no solutions were ever mentioned!  I have a T400 (Vista SP2, Intel T9400, 4GB RAM, 300 GB HD) and was quickly running out of disk space.  After finding mention of Rescue and Recovery I was able to delete some of the backups but not all.  For example I have one from 2008 (18GB) but it won't seem to delete.  I let it sit for quite a while (over night) but it still didn't delete.  Does anybody have a solution for how to get R&R to delete this files?  Or how to delete these files manually?  Thanks in advance.

    in this situation I assume, you are using the GUI for the deletiong of the RnR Backups.
    What I always prefer is the rrcmd.exe which you can use with the "delete" whicht so that the backups that you want to will be deleted.

    I can't open pages files from USB and iCloud due to : "The necessary file index.xml is missing". Original file is written on iMac (2014) and saved to an USB stick and then transferred till macBook Pro (2009, Yosemite) for editing. Then I shared the files by iCloud but I am not able to open them on iMac again. Niether can I use the USB stick to transfer the edited files back. I'm running Pages '09 4,1 (923) on the macBook and Pges 5.5.2 (2120) on the iMac.

    Pages 5.5.2 is extremely incompatible with even other Macs let alone the vast majority of PC and MsWord users out there, so not a good idea to leap into the fire with both eyes shut.
    After having done that to the first Pages 5 files, Apple has repeatedly done it to even the most minor point updates. Apple can't even anticipate its own erratic changes let alone what everyone else needs doing.

    When I try to install I get the following message- "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please dowload Adobe Support advisor to detect the problem." Adobe Support Advisor can't find anything wrong. I've tried downloading with both IE and Chrome. I'm running Win7.

    It seems a case of bad extract, Plese re-extract or redownload CS6.
    Do let us know if problem persists.

    I would like to install the trial version of Creative Suite 6. I was able to download the .dmg file, but when I run the installation I keep getting the following message:

    More troubleshooting tips:
    1. Restart your computer.
    2. Exit all applications including startup items, virus checking and firewall software.
    3. Launch the installer and reinstall your applications.
    I downloaded the Adobe Download Assistant program, Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, Adobe Support Advisor, and a recent version of the Application Manager. Yet I keep getting the same error message. I downloaded the program twice already. Nothing seems to be working. Can someone please help me solve this problem?

    I have old computers but they still work just fine. I assume I won't be able to install CS6 in my MacBook, but could I install it in my iMac? Is Firefox browser okay?
    It's disappointing that nowadays we constantly need to purchase new devices to correspond with new software when older devices still work just fine.

    Hi there Mylenium, is there any way you can help me? My cs6 is doing all kinds weird things lately. The liquifying too stopped working completely, when I try to work with the actions, it starts flickering and changing opacity in color by itself. It starts flickering and is completely out of whack! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck. I tried getting in touch with adobe and no luck with that neither! Is there anyway you might be able to help?

  • Updating to F'fox 6 lost allmy bookmarks, and recovery came in a JSON file I can't open.

    Windows 7 system, updated to Firefox 6 and lost all bookmarks. Followed the Help instructions for retrieving them but can't open the JSON ile they came in, nor can Windows help me do it.

    Good day guys, i bought a ThinkPad R400 and its working fine. but got some question. i got a FreeAgent External Drive i used to backup for ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery. and it works smoothly specially when i recover. but here's the thing. I am trying to delete some of the old backups... so it wont take space in the harddrive. but as i delete it on the Rescue and Recovery. it take so much time. and after the message box appears "Please wait while the backups are deleted" it takes forever. and the Rescue and Recovery hangs... and closes. but the messagebox still there..? and the backup is not deleted. hope you can help me guys. thanks
    bye the way.. im loving my new thinkpad. is there a way we can have an upgrade to windows 7 when it release this october?

    All of a sudden I cannot remove earlier backups to free up space on an external hard drive.
    Have no problem creating new hard drives just removing earlier ones.
    Any suggestions.
    is there any difference between Windows backup and restore and Thinkvantage rescue and recovery?
