Failed to upgrade the iOS 4.2 for my iPad
My iPad information: iPad 16G, software version: 3.2.2.
iTune version: 10.1.0.56.
when I try to upgrade the iPad to iOS 4.2, then the iTune always show "error = - 3259". I have try many times, but still fail.
Hi Carolyn, hope you might be kind enough to direct me further. I experience the same -3259 error but only after the download of the iOS 4.2 is complete and has progressed to the "processing file" stage.
Given that other iStore downloads via iTunes are successful, I can only infer there must be something special about the type of file in this download that my firewall or antivirus doesn't like. Pausing virus protection or turning off firewall does not seem to have an effect. I did not take the risk step of disabling both; I've asked support for file type data or something else I can use to allow it to pass .. but no joy there.
Have an appointment next week at an Apple store, but hoping some clued-in person might have the answer before that becomes necessary. Difficult as the iPad is actually working fine, just cannot obtain the file to update the OS!

Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings
If that doesn't work, then update iTunes on computer, backup device to iTunes, then restore the device.

Recently I wanted to upgrade the IOS for my iphone 4 following the guidelines closely with my friend's help. Unfortunately, we are unable to do so. I felt disappointed as I am looking forward to installing Apps, WeChat, Whats App, etc. I have bought it 2 years ago. I have read the FAQ, mine is the same as many other complaints as in the Settings-General, no "Software Update" appear but we have follow step by step but failed to do so.
My friend suggested me to visit Apple Store in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I just wonder if this problem can be solved. Kindly advise.

Regards/Michelle GeeYou are following the wrong guidelines. The Software Update option was not introduced until a later version. You need to connect to iTunes to update if you currently have iOS 4 or earlier.

It sounds like your iPhone is restarting unexpectedly after the update to iOS 7.0.2.
I recommend the steps outlined in the article named:

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.

While using my Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 to burn a DVD-R I keep getting the error message: "This disc can't be burned, because the device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media."
So, I tried the iDVD and got the same error message.
Can anyone out there help me? I've tried both a DVD - R, and a CD.
I made a short 2:20 minute presentation from iMovie and used the "share" to iDVD, then to iTunes, then I tried exporting it to Quicktime and saved it on my desk top. That is when I tried burning by opening the blank DVD-R in the finder then draging the movie on to it and selecting the burn option. Thank you for your time in helping me with this frustrating problem.

In my case the optical drive was simply failing, and I replaced it - it was a Powerbook, about eight years old.
It is possible that it's unrelated to Lion, as unlikely as this may seem, since you've just upgraded.
Optical drives seem to be the most life-limited component in these computers. The laser just seems to get weak with age. -
after upgrading to ios 8.1.1 my ipad 4 camera doesnt work i just got blank screen, but i still can use it for facetime, i supposed after upgrading to ios 8.1.2 it will fix but it doesnt work. i cannot restore to ios 7. hopefully, any suggestion to correct it? thank you

How do I upgrade the IOS in my 3G iphone using the usb cable hooked to my computer ?
To view the version, use Settings > General > About and look down the list of details shown there; that will usually display the software version.
iOS 4.3.1 is the last version of iOS for the iPhone 3G.
To upgrade iOS (if you're not already running 4.3.1), connect your iPhone to your Mac or Windows system via the cable, launch iTunes if necessary, and follow the instructions that should appear.
If you are already running iOS 4.3.1, there is no further upgrade.

Do not do it! I just recently upgraded. My ipad 2 is super slow. All the efforts to speed it up/optimize didn’t help much. iPad 2 doesn’t have enough memory and cpu is not powerful enough to handle ios 8. Apple made bad call releasing it (or the intention was to brick old hardware so people go to stores to buy newer hardware). To make matters worse iOS 8.3 is very unstable – my ipad kept crushing very frequently – something I never saw before. Thank god I was able to revert to 8.2. I spent countless hours trying to downgrade to 7.1.2 only to learn that it’s impossible. I even went to Apple store to ask for help with downgrading but they just said what I already knew – it was impossible. Just like mdiamond58 said if I could downgrade to 7.1.2 I would do it in a heartbeat. Thank you Apple for changing my iPad into paper weight.

I can not upgrade the iOS on my phone, nor sync the phone because the process starts with backing up the phone which always hangs up at the backing up stage and then will not allow further progress.
And for this I guess that it is the backing up of my Podcasts - which are free downloads that causes the hang up. These are items that I have played and synced before without issues. I am thinking this way because these are Podcasts that I used to play but sundenly would not play on my iPhone. Each time I try to play anyone of them it generates the message - this movie could not be played.
I am scared of atempting a system restore because I guess I may lose my SMS for the past two months. Please approach the solution from this point of view.
